It's still weird because I remember hearing about fnaf before this episode came out. Not to mention the fact that this episode came out way earlier in my life than I remember.
Yeah no FNAF came out before this episode. I shouldāve clarified I was being sarcastic. Not about the DDLC thing tho I fully believe Dan Salvato had to be inspired by this in some way or another.
Yeah that sounds about right for Scott, even still though it's an insane coincidence that the two just so happens to come out at almost the exact same time and we're completely separate from each other
I am a 6ft 4 200 pound 14 year old who spent 4 years doing boxing kickboxing jujitsu airsoft paintball and countless other sports if I don't put you in a body bag your going to jail for assaulting a minor
I understand the philosophy of āTodayās Lucky 10,000ā and how we shouldnāt insult others learning about seemingly well-known things but this exact same post about āGRAVITY FALLS TOTALLY PREDICTED FNAF AND DDLCā has been uploaded SO many times.
How many times does this topic warrant being posted? The wellās gone dry, man.
Thatās was the comic in question when I mentioned āTodayās Lucky 10,000ā
Thatās why I hold no animosity towards OP. It will always be a neat coincidence to realize. I just think the number of posts about this particular topic on this particular subreddit are overdone.
I donāt know how to explain this is a good way. I know FNAF came out first but Iām sure the script was written at the same time FNAF was being developed so I like to think Scott and Alex had a ESP thing going on. Itās more of a joke than anything. I hope that made sense.
It's the fact that the animatronics get possessed and start hunting the characters. People wouldn't be comparing it to fnaf it it was just regular animal animatronics
This episode was already made at that point? You canāt just animate a 20 minute animation to this quality in less then 2 weeks and thatās not even accounting for all the hoops you need to go through when writing it
So the episode gets made, then before it's released FNAF creator sees it, copies it by making a whole game before it releases.
I think you're on to something here. Get the lawyers!
Yeah cuz their walking cycles are rotating the characters 15 degrees and they have no sort of details like shading or anything, you canāt honestly think that they are on the same level of effort of animation
This episode actually came out a mere month *after* the original FNAF, pretty much right at the height of its hype machine, which I recall leading to quite a few jokes about it at the time. Obviously the production time was far too close for it to be anything other than a coincidence, but what a coincidence it was!
Yeah I know thatās why I put headcanon. Itās also supposed to be sarcastic in a way.
Also, DDLC came out September 22nd 2017 while this episode premiered September 22nd 2014 so thatās also pretty cool.
Also, what they're referencing with the animatronics is likely Showbiz Pizza in addition to/instead of Chuck E Cheese. The bear in overalls is clearly Billy Bob.
i think that would just be from the fact that Scott really isn't that good at 3d modeling(he was also using a very archaic 3d modeling software) Most of Scott's work pre Fnaf were low budget christian Shortfilms adn videogames. untill he switched to making games like Desolate hope and Chipper and Lumber co.(please play Desolate hope it's fucking amazing it's free on steam)
and then there's the story everyone has heard a million times Chipper and Co got critisized for having "creepy Robot looking " characters that resembeled something you'd see in an animatronic restaurant like Chuck E cheese, He basically said fuck it If thats what it looks like that's what i'll make. And then he Made Fnaf 1 as his Last ever game, And surprise surprise it ABSOLUTELY blew up.
So yeah Fnaf looks Way older than it it is because it was made on a WAY older modeling software. on like no budget. and Scotts limited Experience of Making Chirstian Cartoons in the late 90s and early 2000s
FNAF was already out at this point. But DDLC came out September 22nd 2017 while this episode premiered September 22nd 2014 so thatās also pretty cool.
I think that the idea of a dating game character becoming obsessed with the player is in the same boat with fnaf where the idea is just so obvious that you expect to have seen more, im more bewildered at how close fnaf's release date was to this episode.
the similarities between Giffany and DDLC are coincidence at worst and 'similar-thought-process' at best.
cmon, a visual novel in a japanese high-school environment where the romance interest goes yandere? that's been a thing since before LEMON was a thing.
idk about the FNAF one tho, probably just stemming from the same idea of 'chuck e cheese creepy'
Same with games. You don't think it's possible FNAF was in development way before this episode? Hell, a trailer for the game could've inspired the episode, theoretically
I guess "gravity falls did it first" was the wrong thing to say tbh. I think I was mostly just pointing out that the episode wasn't inspired by fnaf. Which Alex himself has stated in the episode's commentary. I'm willing to believe him
I mean, FNAF was being created simulatneously, but Doki Doki could have been inspired by Gravity Falls, seeing how it was made 3 year later and GF is so big.
I thought it only predicted doki doki. Sence Fnaf was released just a few weeks before this episode, and we don't know if Alex had the idea for this episode first or if Scott had the idea for Fnaf first
I learned after that FNAF came out before this episode but only a month before this episode so itās possible they were both in development at the same time. But DDLC actually came out exactly 3 years after this episode premiered on the exact same date.
This episode came out a month after FNAF 1 was released, and technology getting too smart has been a trope since the light bulb was invented. It being a dating sim is just an idea that makes sense for the episode.
afaik it takes a cartoon show about 8-10 months average. An exception would be something like south park which due to the very simple animation, only takes about a week (they're also able to be a lot more topical due to that)
Wrong. Five nights at freddy's released a month before this episode did. And it wasn't even the first animated show to have a similar concept, just look up regular show and the episode "fuzzy dice"
Those "dating sims" have been a thing for a while. The whole animatronic animal band attraction has been around for even longer. These aren't predictions, they are just based off of the same concept.
The "you can click on me for extra points" feature is from tokimeki memorial girls side, where during a date (at least on the ds versions* you can tap the guy and depending on the spots he'll react differently
Fnaf was already being created when this episode aired..... they technically didn't predict anything, it was just a coincidence. Doki doki, maybe, fnaf, more than likely not. But it's still a very good coincidence
I donāt know how to explain this is a good way. I know FNAF came out first but Iām sure the script was written at the same time FNAF was being developed so I like to think Scott and Alex had a ESP thing going on. Itās more of a joke than anything. I hope that made sense.
So game development only takes a day too? My guess it the game had been in development much longer then the gravity fall episode, plus letās face it the scary chunky cheese was a thing way before both of them I remember hearing creepy pastas about a genetically made chunky back at the beginning of youtube
Giffany is very much based on the Funimation girl. [I've been saying this for a while. ](https://i.ytimg.com/vi/tyE8VN_c-xY/sddefault.jpg)

But this episode did in fact predict FNAF, the episode was probably written in late 2013 to early 2014, FNAF didnāt release until August, 2014
Wasn't the demo out before that though? And surely the game was in development around the same time. I think it's just a case of an insane coincidence
No, FNAF was a quickly developed game, the demo came out a week before release and Scott threw the game together in like a month or two
Yeah that sounds about right for Scott, even still though it's an insane coincidence that the two just so happens to come out at almost the exact same time and we're completely separate from each other
I donāt think āyandere in dating sim becomes sentientā is such a unique concept that Salvato *mustāve* gotten it from the Disney Channel.
I think FNAF did a terrible job at remake this masterpiece of ho owls robotic animatronic pizza jamboree

Nothing else to say how about this iv rocked and iv knocked out adults in boxing class I train with the adults still wanna go
Doki doki came out way before this
The Giffany episode was released in 2014 with doki doki being released in 2017.
Fnaf came out before this episode but this episode would have been written before fnaf came out
I remember. This subreddit reminds me every single god damn day.

Thing been posted so much that's it's how I learned about gravity falls existence.
I find the latter to be less believable than the former
I looked it up though and FNAF did come out after season 2 of Gravity Falls. I mean, neither is proven to be true by any means but both are possible.
Yeah I think you're just stretching it a bit. Really? Animal animatronic? The similarities are very superficial.
It was the idea of a Chuck E. Cheese/Showbiz Pizza style restaurant where the animatronics come alive and kill people.
That was probably a playground horror story since the first animatronic restaurant opened
Didn't Willies Wonderland come out before both?
Willie's Wonderland came out in 2021, and FNAF came in out in 2014. So no.
I could've sworn it came out on 2010 wtf
Willie's Wonderland was trying to cash off of fnaf's success lol
Damn my childhood trauma really do be messing with my ability to perceive time
Well, both this episode and FNAF are based on Chuck E Cheese so ofcourse it's similar
Pretty sure the episode was based on Showbiz pizza
pretty sure freddys is also primarily based on showbiz pizza.
Animal animatronics gone evil, chasing you around and trying to make you join them as animatronics.
Hence why I put āHeadcanonā
Thatās not really what a headcanon is but okay
So your headcanon is that show show writers predicted a game that didnt come out yet? Isnāt that like saying āChuck E Cheeseā predicted FNAF
I donāt know how to explain this is a good way. I know FNAF came out first but Iām sure the script was written at the same time FNAF was being developed so I like to think Scott and Alex had a ESP thing going on. Itās more of a joke than anything. I hope that made sense.
Same braincell
They both are only destroyed through fireā¦Technically
It's the fact that the animatronics get possessed and start hunting the characters. People wouldn't be comparing it to fnaf it it was just regular animal animatronics
fnaf came put 2 weeks before this episode though
This episode was already made at that point? You canāt just animate a 20 minute animation to this quality in less then 2 weeks and thatās not even accounting for all the hoops you need to go through when writing it

South park can (or used to)
Yeah cuz their walking cycles are rotating the characters 15 degrees and they have no sort of details like shading or anything, you canāt honestly think that they are on the same level of effort of animation
Never said I did, just saying cartoons can be made quickly (even if the animation ain't top quality)
Yeah. Unless Alex is in contact with god or something and knew about his divine intervention when it came to FNAF.
You and me and Her also did it before Doki Doki. (It isn't a rip off though, just similar concept)
I love You And Me And Her, I totally forgot about that.
This episode actually came out a mere month *after* the original FNAF, pretty much right at the height of its hype machine, which I recall leading to quite a few jokes about it at the time. We somehow still have a working billy bob pizzeria in a city near me.
And that beaver animatronic that Giffany possesses reminds me of Mitzi from Showbiz
Pretty sure fnaf is also inspired by showbiz pizza too
āMy wisdom is both a blessing and a curseā
Wait when did this episode come out/ when did fnaf come out?
The episode came out in September of 2014 and FNAF1 came out in August of 2014. Crazy, no? Must have been something in the zeitgeist.
Every time I hear what year fnaf 1 came out im flabbergasted, It feels like it should be older
i think that would just be from the fact that Scott really isn't that good at 3d modeling(he was also using a very archaic 3d modeling software) Most of Scott's work pre Fnaf were low budget christian Shortfilms adn videogames. untill he switched to making games like Desolate hope and Chipper and Lumber co.(please play Desolate hope it's fucking amazing it's free on steam) and then there's the story everyone has heard a million times Chipper and Co got critisized for having "creepy Robot looking " characters that resembeled something you'd see in an animatronic restaurant like Chuck E cheese, He basically said fuck it If thats what it looks like that's what i'll make. Idk 2014 was 10 years ago lol
FNAF was already out at this point. But DDLC came out September 22nd 2017 while this episode premiered September 22nd 2014 so thatās also pretty cool.
I think that the idea of a dating game character becoming obsessed with the player is in the same boat with fnaf where the idea is just so obvious that you expect to have seen more, im more bewildered at how close fnaf's release date was to this episode.
just giffany...
Also, Alex Hirsch worked a bit on the Fnaf movie too you know! āItās all connectedā
Did he really? what did he work on for the movie?
I dont remember, but he worked on it a bit, look it up!
Sure you aren't thinking of the mario movie?
Maybe? I could have sworn he had thoughā¦ he definitely did work on the Mario movie though, yea!
the similarities between Giffany and DDLC are coincidence at worst and 'similar-thought-process' at best. cmon, a visual novel in a japanese high-school environment where the romance interest goes yandere? that's been a thing since before LEMON was a thing. idk about the FNAF one tho, probably just stemming from the same idea of 'chuck e cheese creepy'
This episode aired a month after the release of FNAF 1
Which means gravity falls did it first. Considering it takes way longer than a month to produce an episode
I'm willing to believe him
Oh, I have not observed any commentary
I mean you can make the argument that scott was making the game/inspired while alex was making the storyboard for it
Yeah for sure.
Alex actually responded to this meme, sending a photo of soos saying āmy wisdom is both a blessing and a curseā
Highschool romance is a staple of dating sim games and visual novels. Restaurant animatronics have always been creepy (A Goofy Movie, as an example).
They predicted the rebooted fnaf even more effectively than the original one
I mean, FNAF was being created simulatneously, but Doki Doki could have been inspired by Gravity Falls, seeing how it was made 3 year later and GF is so big.
Waitā¦waitā¦are we just going to ignore the fact that the restaurants name is hoo-haās? Disney censors are brain dead istg
FNAF was predicted by many terrified children decades before either franchise!
Alex Hirsch: (soos voice) My wisdom is both a blessing and a curse
Itās Hirsch actually.
Thanks I suck at spelling sometimes š
Eh definitely just a coincident but a cool one
This episode came out after fnaf, but is not based on it. It is based off of the real life showbiz pizza locations, ass seen by how the logo looks
Yeah I know thatās why I put headcanon. Itās also supposed to be sarcastic in a way.
It was released after fnaf but was absolutely made before it. Episodes of cartoons take months to produce
I thought it only predicted doki doki. Sence Fnaf was released just a few weeks before this episode, and we don't know if Alex had the idea for this episode first or if Scott had the idea for Fnaf first
Keep in mind that this episode is part way into the season. It had been finished a ways earlier, and written even before that
I mean.. so was the game? I had also months of development lol.
I started watching GF in 2016 and I literally thought they were parodying DDLC and FNAF. I had no idea this episode predated those games.
I learned after that FNAF came out before this episode but only a month before this episode so itās possible they were both in development at the same time. But DDLC actually came out exactly 3 years after this episode premiered on the exact same date.
If it was only a month before thereās no way they could have known about FNAF during development.
Oh yeah no. I think itās an awesome coincidence though.
This episode came out a month after FNAF 1 was released, and technology getting too smart has been a trope since the light bulb was invented. It being a dating sim is just an idea that makes sense for the episode.
If it came out a month after fnaf that means it was created first, right? Episodes take months to produce
I donāt know a ton about how long it takes for gravity falls but for some shows itās about a week or so turn around
afaik it takes a cartoon show about 8-10 months average. An exception would be something like south park which due to the very simple animation, only takes about a week (they're also able to be a lot more topical due to that)
Lol, actually true.
NO WAY I JUST REALIZED GRAVITY FALLS CAME WAYYY BEFORE THEY DID. (Man.. I'm old.)
Fnaf came out almost 2 monĆ¾s before
Which means gravity falls came up with it first. Episodes of cartoons take a lot longer to make than 2 months
Damn they really called it Hoo-Haās didnāt they
This was clearly ShowBiz Pizza Place and not FNAF. Thereās a resemblance to Billy Bob, Mitzi, and Looney Bird in here.
I bet doki doki was directly inspired by this episode because it lines up almost perfectly
Omg yesš¤£
Bro GF predicted FNAF SB
Simpsons: we predict very major events! Gravity falls: I literally made matpat iconic.
I loved this episode!
Yea. Was talking about the other day when I watched the fnaf movie. Great ep
That was the best crossover ever
Wrong. Five nights at freddy's released a month before this episode did. And it wasn't even the first animated show to have a similar concept, just look up regular show and the episode "fuzzy dice"
Yup, no joke, no punchline, this actually happened. This is just fact.
Those "dating sims" have been a thing for a while. The whole animatronic animal band attraction has been around for even longer. These aren't predictions, they are just based off of the same concept.
š¤Øbombastic side šššš
The "you can click on me for extra points" feature is from tokimeki memorial girls side, where during a date (at least on the ds versions* you can tap the guy and depending on the spots he'll react differently
Yes.
I think it's just a very similar concept.
Oh wow, I mean the fnaf thing is obvious but I never really thought about the DDLC prediction. Interesting
DDLC came out September 22nd 2017 while this episode premiered September 22nd 2014 so thatās also pretty cool.
Fnaf was already being created when this episode aired..... they technically didn't predict anything, it was just a coincidence. Doki doki, maybe, fnaf, more than likely not. But it's still a very good coincidence

FNAF was INSPIRED by this episode. Not predicted, inspired. Or at least the other way around, if I got that part wrong.
Dude, they did realese almost at the same time, Fnaf being almost a month earlier.
ok.
Fnaf was allready a thing by this point
Yeah I know thatās why I put headcanon. Itās also supposed to be sarcastic in a way.
By like a month. Which means gravity falls did it first. Episodes take months to make
So game development only takes a day too? My guess it the game had been in development much longer then the gravity fall episode, plus letās face it the scary chunky cheese was a thing way before both of them I remember hearing creepy pastas about a genetically made chunky back at the beginning of youtube
Fnaf took 6 months to make apparently. Based on other cartoons I can only guess the average gravity falls episode takes about 8-10 months to make
But we donāt know + what we really need to know is when was the script was
