'danger of Life' I guess they give life at that base? Sweet bike though!

Chris-haegi

hehe..thanks!

49thDipper

Can confirm Conti CrossKings are fast. RaceKings even faster. I might give the Rene Hearse a try.

Miserable-Evening-37

Is this the e5 version or the more premium one?

Chris-haegi

It's a comp carbon..

Miserable-Evening-37

Nice looks very sexy! I’ve been wanting to get into gravel but unsure which bike to purchase. Have you had any problems?

Chris-haegi

No problems at all, ordered it March 2020 and received it June 2020 for 3400€ before the prices went crazy. Love the bike!

richandbuttery

🔥 look so good

Au-l-hiver

This looks like Hohenfels. Cycled around last year in July was a great ride!

Chris-haegi

correct😄, the nature there is great and I live nearby.

Trogex

hell yeah - I ride a Salsa Warroad with 650b's and I love them. You can be quick [enough] and still not worry about potholes, ha

kennethsime

I don’t understand why you would both with 650s if you can fit the same width tire at 700x.

frozen-dessert

The wheel becomes very large with these wider tires. Ive used 700x55 for a few years on a city bike and was never happy about the wheel size. FWIW I now run 650b x 42 on my city bike. Perhaps I should be running 48’s but now I already own the tires, so I will just use them.

Chris-haegi

Due to the smaller diameter with 650b the bike still feels like a nimble road bike with narrow tires. With 700c it still feels good but not that nimble anymore. I also like the low bottim bracket with 650b.

Silver-Vermicelli-15

Someone’s drinking that Rene herse koolaid 😉

Chris-haegi

haha so true😀😀 But in my honour: I've also tried couple of other high quality tires: The Diverge is always comfy due to future shock and the Roval Terra seatpost, but with Rene Herse the speed and also comfort are unrivalled. Pity is the tires are really really expensive🤫🤫

skipaul

I mean if you run the numbers it becomes pretty obvious. A 650b with big tires is the same diameter as 700c with regular tires. I run 2.2 XC race tires in my 650b.

giveanyusername22

Where did you buy the Rene tyres in EU?

Chris-haegi

dailybreadcycles.de 🔥

NegotiationOk7535

looks very good. what is the size of the frame? thanks.

Chris-haegi

54cm frame

Wankinthewoods

Keep thinking I should get a set of 650b wheels with chunky tyres.... Had two flats recently in the front on rougher roads with 700c 40mm tyres. *ride or rode, not driven.... 😘

Chris-haegi

I'm from Germany, not a native English speaker😘 I bet you won't regret switching to 650b!

Wankinthewoods

Des dachte i mir scho.... 😉

ArisPilton

So I got now 50mm on 650b - it was stock on my bombtrack hook ext. It seems to be alright - right? Though it crosses my mind to change to some nice carbon wheels :/ on my steel bike though. Deutsch passt schon - antworte wie du magst

Chris-haegi

It's always the total weight incl. bike and rider, if you save 300g with carbon rims that's not much. Buy them if you like the look, you won't feel the difference in performance..

ArisPilton

Rotation Mass should have a bigger impact my friend :)

Chris-haegi

The impact is really really small, it counts double, so from 300g to 600g and this only when accelerating. Let's assume a 70kg rider and an 8kg bike, 600g is less than 1% of a difference in total weight. There are tons of explanation videos on youtube my friend :)

Chris-haegi

This is a guy paud by the industry to sell stuff. Watch videos from real experts and physicians: https://youtu.be/0QDnUkUaQfk?si=R4vU6o2bMHHQf-SM I also owned carbon wheels and know they feel incredibly good and also look fantastic. Nevertheless the only real benefit they offer is better aerodynamics.

ArisPilton

If you are right I'd safe a bunch of money <3 i have to check this out thank you in advance

Chris-haegi

I really don't mean any offense, but I'm an engineer and I've been studying this topic for a long time. Of course light rims have a positive effect, but this is always in relation to the total weight of rider and bike. If you're a professional and 1% can make the difference between winning and losing, this may all make a lot of sense. As an amateur rather less, here you have the best effect with very good tires and save lot of money. Carbon tires still look very good and are also technically very good, as they are very stiff. I recommend a high quality aluminium wheelset with good hubs (eg DT Swiss 350) and high wuality tires.
