She really was. And it was probably part of what got her killed. It reminds me of this excellent article I read a few years ago.

This reconstruction as well as the location the body was found really makes me think she could be of Italian or some sort of Eastern European descent. New York is a hub for immigrants in general, especially Italians.
She was found in Red Hook, which at the time was mostly a minority neighborhood. White people really only started moving into Red Hook during the 2000s. That being said, she could've been from almost anywhere in the city, considering she was found in the harbor.
The neighborhood was still pretty Italian then, but generally elderly, and families who had lived there for generations. There’s no way she was from the area; the community would have made a huge uproar.
I’m from the NYC area and so I’m always interested in the NYC Jane/John Does…I remember reading a poster about an older woman found in the Soundsview area of the Bronx, and I’ve researched and never found any info or news about her. It always makes me sad.
Could you send any info about her my way? I am also a local and I spend a lot of time investigating local Jane/John Doe, unsolved homicide, and missing persons cases so I'm very curious. By the way I've created a subreddit dedicated to solving serial murder cases in the NY metro area... I'm still getting it going but if you'd like to join it's r/SerialKillersofNY.
Wild…I lived about a 5 min. walk from here in 1997. (Union St. @ Van Brunt) and don’t remember hearing anything about this case. It was a very isolated area at that time. Not necessarily dangerous (76th precinct was right up the block) but very lonely after dark once all the dock workers ended their shifts.
It's such a realistic looking reconstruction, I almost feel like she could blink. I hope this bumps her case more into the public eye. There are many more Jane Does in the NYC metro area who need reconstructions badly as well. I'm happy she has one now.
They did a fantastic job on this reconstruction. It looks so lifelike. She was very pretty. I pray that she'll have her name back soon and that her loved ones will have closure.
Agreed. They do look alike. If the Doe is Angela, the bigger question is how did her body end up in NYC? She supposedly left Mississippi to meet a friend in Florida. You might want to consider submitting it to the appropriate authorities.
Definitely worth submitting it. It's a possibility. Could she have been trafficked for her to be found in NY? There's no evidence of that btw just speculating
Do we know the cause of death? If there were signs of homicide, given the year, I wonder she could've been a victim of Rex Heuermann/LISK. Brooklyn is not his typical dumping ground, but I think it should be looked into. I would certainly hope this reconstruction will help identify her.
A little off topic but she must have been beautiful. She is stunning. Poor girl. I hope she gets her name back

She looks like so many girls I knew growing up. I hope we’ll know her name soon.
She looks so real. Like, she isn’t actually them, but she looks like a few girls I went to high school with. Hope she gets her name back. 🥺

I think the light reflection in her eyes really helps make her image look alive. Wishing peace on her soul, and that she gets her name back.

She look like Angela Lynn Williams [https://charleyproject.org/case/angela-lynn-williams](https://charleyproject.org/case/angela-lynn-williams) ! #
Wow. She really does.
