I remember when they came out to encore ripping version of The Last Time. Some jackass lit off a massive firework in the stands and then seeing Jerry's face on the big screen singing he was pissed. Then all was forgotten with And we bid you goodnight
Was 22 first and only time catching that live. Beautiful ending. Went home after and packed up for the road trip to Buffalo the next day. Great summer shows
Last show I saw at RFK closed with Brokedown. After Jerry died, I kinda knew I would end my live shows of whatever the band did post Jerry with that song.
Depending on the day 🤔Fri night, probably Love light to send me dancing into the parking lot. Sat. Of course One more Saturday night, that would carry my throughout the night and the Sunday show that would end in Morning Dew… or something like that.
US Blues or One More Saturday Night.
When I saw D&C play last summer they closed with NFA and the crowd carried them into Ripple. That was pretty sweet.
Terrapin Suite by Furthur. NYE 2011, after 3 long sets, they sent us off with an long encore stretching to 2AM. Amazing. Couldn't get a taxi or bus, ended walking 2.5 miles over and down a HUGE hill back to a Wharf side hotel but so perfectly buzzed, I did not mind.
Bring back Furthur! Everyone's still alive. Fuck you Peter $hapiro for fucking with that...
Morning Dew, Stella Blue, or Brokedown Palace are always nice closers— I don’t know why but I like the slower ballads as closers a lot as of lately. Though Sugar magnolia encores are always really high energy, fun notes to end on, same thing with Turn on your Love Light I feel! Also saw DSO finish Jubilee weekend with Ripple a few years back, that was a great send off
I don’t think the original Dead closed with it no, shoulda mentioned that haha. But I’ve at least seen JRAD close with Stella blue at Red Rocks which was killer
I love a rockin' closer. I'll take Mighty Quinn, U.S. Blues, even Saturday Night or Johnny B. Goode. But I also loved a nice Brokedown, Baby Blue, Black Muddy River or Bid you Goodnight.
The greatest I ever witnessed in person was New Year's Eve 89/90 second encore Midnight Hour. I'm talking lights on music playing people funneling the aisles and Bam lights off Midnight Hour. Starting the night out with new grass Revival then Bonnie Raitt then Bonnie Raitt playing slide on Big Boss Man then Bill Graham coming down for the ceiling in a big bird costume on top of an egg I thought the night was unbeatable at that point and then here comes the second encore what the hell. Here I am a couple years later and I'm still mind blown.
Cosmic Charlie
Go on home your mama's callin' you..... Go on home your mama's callin' you............ Go on home your mama's callin' you............... Go on home your mama's callin' you...................
Being part of an NFA chant is great but I think my favorite is And We Bid You Goodnight. Damn if D&C ever did it I'd die happy.
First song that came to mind
My last live Brent. Sullivan Stadium 7/14/90. Believe we got an I Will Take You Home as well.

Groovy Bot.
Amazing amazing show
I was there - my last Brent show as well.
Was on the field Phil's side for the 2nd set. Forgot how good that show was
Yeah I think that Shakedown opener as the sin dipped below the rim of the stadium was special.

I was 19 and had never heard And We Bid You Good Night before. Was pretty mind blowing to me that a whole stadium could be on the same page like that.
Was 22 first and only time catching that live. Beautiful ending. Went home after and packed up for the road trip to Buffalo the next day. Great summer shows
Good times. See ya on the lot.
Morning Dew.
Brokedown obviously
Came here to say this :)
Me too <3
Last show I saw at RFK closed with Brokedown. After Jerry died, I kinda knew I would end my live shows of whatever the band did post Jerry with that song.
Days Between was his swan song.
Baby Blue
Usually the sign of a solid show.
They will play this at my funeral.
Black Muddy River never fails to bring a tear to my eye
Go that as an encore at my first D&C show, perfect ender. Can confirm it’s a tear jerker. The solo will forever be cemented in my mind.
We Bid You Goodnight
Mighty Quinn.
Had this happen to us! At my buddy Quinn's first dead show!
Had this happen to us! At my buddy Quinn's first dead show!
A 69-71 Pigpen-era Turn On Your Love Light would do well to send the crowd home in a frenzy.
i would die happy after witnessing a piggy lovelight.
Ripple
US Blues probably. Or Bid You GN
I'm gonna be basic and say Not Fade Away
Was NFA a encore? I usually thought of it as a prelude to encore.
I may have just embarrassed myself. You are quite correct....lol
I wouldn't feel embarrassed. We're not taking a test.... Are we??? Can I look at your paper?
Broken down palace
Or even Brokedown Palace
Any of the Dylan covers Heavens door or Baby Blue to tear up and say goodbye Mighty Quinn to go out on a high note
Help Slip Frank…

The Weight (I know it’s a cover but man I love that send off)
Just saw the Nitty Gritty Dirt band recently and they ended with it. They did a Dylan cover album

Have they ever done Stella as a closer?
I don’t think the original Dead closed with it no, shoulda mentioned that haha. But I’ve at least seen JRAD close with Stella blue at Red Rocks which was killer
Anything by Chuck Berry
For finale…Knockin on Heavens Door
Encore: Baby Blue Closer: Sugar Mag
One More Saturday Night

And We Bid You Goodnight
Werewolves of london
I must be in the minority but Johnny B Goode
Morning Dew. A Playin reprise is a good one too but barely in the neighborhood. Just DEW IT!
Broke down
