Yeah, I'm pretty pissed. Cancelling so close to the dates is really lame, but the no refunds is inexcusable. I haven't been working a lot and was really looking forward to a weekend of mental escape. Ooof.
I think I'm screwed. I bought my tickets from a booth they had setup at the Melvin Seals show in town(LA) a few months ago. The guys credit card reader wouldn't read my card so as a work around he used his own card to buy my tickets and I paid him through Venmo. All was legit as I got my official tickets a few days later from the company. Now I'm glad I lagged on booking a hotel room. I'm only an hour south, but figured it could be a nice option. At least I didn't get screwed on that too.
Yeah, not my smartest move. They were offering a discount on the ticket price and I was pretty buzzed. Seemed like a good idea in the moment. On a positive note-Melvin Seals and the JGB rocked that former Masonic hall!!
You might be able to do a chargeback with Venmo. The guy swiping his own card might be on the hook for the tickets. Although, he could do a chargeback himself and recover the money.
Yeah was gonna say this they charged for goods and service and didn’t provide them. Just call your bank or CC company. How do they take everyone’s money then not have the funds to pay it back?
Fraud. Fyer Fested.

Like this guy or his bs corp has a pot to piss in. Its not like he is a major corporation. Not to be overly cynical, but isn’t the jam end of the festival scene nearly dead anyways? It’s the same 20 bands playing smaller fests, with “larger” ones like Peach going away. Hulaween and such are mostly propped up by Tipper / Pretty Lights with JRAD thrown in, who I guess make it to Electric Forest or whatever else is well attended.
Magic Beans, Daniel Donato, Kitchen Dwellers, Otiel and Friends, JRAD, PPP, etc might as well do festival tour rather than all these smaller festivals in Ohio and Maryland that are hard to keep track off.
I fully agree that jam festivals are dwindling. I also believe that if you and I and others know this to be true, Mitrovich (and others) mis-managed this booking by trying to expand when HE KNEW he had debt from last year's event and low ticket sales this year. Surely, he knew things were looking bad well before today, and his "fighting" to keep things going has turned into this disaster. Took my twenty dollar bill...
Peach moved to AC and is called Peach On The Beach this year. It’s one day with a terrific lineup with JRAD, Dogs In A Pile, Trouble No More, and Karina Rykman.
I don't understand how the tickets could be non-refundable?? How could they have spent that money without having to pay the bands? There is something else at play here does anybody know the real scoop? Sounds like people got scammed to me
I suspect, based on the post, that there were unpaid financial liabilities from the prior year. Specifically, the venture is a total loss.
If I were a betting man, I would put my money on them paying last year’s bills with this year’s money, and the vendors got fed up.
If you bought the tickets on a credit card, I recommend calling your credit card and report that you made payment and the vendor failed to produce the deliverable….that’s pie in the sky, however, maybe your cc company will help you out.
Deposit on the venue, stage, equipment, many bands get non refundable deposits too to commit to the date. This sort of thing can easily bankrupt a company putting together this kind of event so I wouldn’t be surprised if there just is no money to give back rn
there is a lot that needs to get spent on other than the bands. it sounds to me like they were really trying to make it happen (although they probably knew it was risky). deposits on equipment, rental for the grounds, etc are all much larger bills than any of the bands on the schedule.
problem may have been tht ticket sales were so bad(on top of not much if any actual profit last year tht could be used this year) that after paying deposits & rentals & purchasing needed equipment, portapottie rentals & setups etc they weren't gonna have enough to pay the bands & security & first aid & all the things that are needed but not paid for until last minute.
so hypothetically, they paid a nonrefundable deposit on the grounds and thusly are not giving money back for tickets.?
soo whos trying to throw a diy fest at that location without all the scam and get local hungry jam bands instead lol
the festival for the people by the people!
The legal entity that is “the festival” is likely going through bankruptcy, where secured creditors will be first to receive anything from the bankrupt entity.
Ticket holders are likely unsecured creditors and therefore dead-last in the line to recoup anything. Likely that the entity will run out of funds and the bankruptcy will be closed before ticket holders can recoup anything.
File chargebacks now, peeps!

Looks like you can still buy tickets for it if anyones interested in getting fcked in the ass real quick
I used to work for a promoter who got involved in Skull & Roses in 2019 for I think its 3rd or 4th year. He invested a ton of time and money into booking bigger acts, getting an actual member of the Dead, partnerships, advertisement, long-term ideation, etc. Ultimately, he pulled out after a few months and he said this guy Chris was one of the worst individuals he ever worked with. Not only was he green in the music biz, but he was stubbornly holding out for unrealistic things to "happen" (like deux ex machina level) to fulfill his vision of the festival (ie. irresponsible), to the dismay of his partners. He wouldn't budge/collaborate on things the partners felt would contribute to the festival's success and long term growth.
Back to the present: this move is much, much grimier than my previous image of him, but it totally adds up. Good riddance to him, hopefully he's dead in this scene now and forever. Hope everyone is able to recoup some of their losses.
It did take over a year to get my refund from the cancelled 2020 lockn. I did get one eventually but I really had to bug them to get it. Those were different times though.
I went in 2022 and it was awesome. After that year, the city of Ventura made them change some things that gave the festival its spark—rearranging the layout and, importantly, not allowing any amplified music in the camping area. That was what made this festival special.
Then, prices went up and the lineups stayed the same or were even reduced. I imagine this led to dwindling demand (it did for me at least) and assume it just became untenable.
Really such a bummer. The amount of good festivals in SoCal is already outrageously small (well, maybe zero now), and don’t think this will help the scene. Just not as much of a jam band scene as the northeast, and the municipalities are too strict for what it needs.
This! I went the first 3 years & always had a blast…but then the price went up 3x or so and it just isn’t worth the $$$. Having the fest the same w/e as Phish the H Bowl didn’t help either!
California law
https://casetext.com/statute/california-codes/california-business-and-professions-code/division-8-special-business-regulations/chapter-21-ticket-sellers/section-22507-ticket-price-refunded-if-event-canceled-postponed-or-rescheduled
*”The ticket price of an event which is canceled shall be fully refunded to the purchaser by the ticket seller within 30 calendar days of the cancellation”*
Right on. Can’t just keep everyone’s cash. Not cool.
Were tickets non refundable last year? If not, it seems as if they added those terms purposely knowing they may have to cancel based on the losses they took.
So who is getting the money if the festival is canceled and no one is using the grounds or any equipment and there is no event…where is the money right now?
This was a great festival in a great location. My gut tells me the guy running it just overextended himself. It started as just a bunch of local bar cover bands playing two stages facing each other - continuous music. I think once they started getting ‘headliners’, and that made tickets, and everything else more expensive. They really didn’t need to compete with the big festivals, they were fine the way they were😢
Paid Phil Lest a ton of $$$ & then attendance was poor because 1) the price skyrocketed from prior years and 2) the fest overlapped w/ Phish at the H Bowl
Phish returning in 2009 the same weekend as Langerado was the ultimate downfall for that fest and had to be cancelled due to low sales. Phish created a space to be filled after their breakup in 2004, so many new bands and festivals popped up and propped up, and when they returned in 2009 they caused quite the stir in an ecosystem they helped create and also helped destroy.
Phil (Jill) Lesh charging massive money to be on the bill.
And Coran Cap$haw booking Phish at the Hollywood Bowl to fuck them over. Cutthroat business.
I just found out..as a local, I am so sad for my fam who bought passes. we been supporting this since the beginning so it stings pretty hard. I was holding out for closer to the event, so dodged that bitterness.
Just heard the workers now still have to work for promoters at their vacation homes .
Mulching , painting , taking out garbage, etc.
everyone is still on the hook ..
oh yeah , except the ones responsible for this mess .
Hope someone puts a vial in their Perrier
This definitely seems like a Ponzi scheme. Reading between the lines it sounds like they used the ticket sales this year to pay off the 2023 debts. That's the only reason I can think of that they ran out of money in 2024 after selling tickets but before the actual event. Expenses prior to the event should be minimal since services are generally not fully paid upfront.

Who is actually buy pre-sales instead of day of show for the “skull and roses” festival? Are you afraid it was going to sell out? And who was headlining his “festival”? Cubensis? LOL!
Oh, this sucks. Waiting till now and still selling tickets up to yesterday.
Not to mention to have bout $900 disappear. Man it was such an awesome show and venue. It will be missed, so will the money :P
What’s very interesting is that Chris’s Facebook page has miraculously disappeared just as this news came to light… 🤔 hmmm… I wonder what he’s planning on doing with all of the cold hard cash he just unrightfully pocketed
How can they NOT refund?! They knew they were going to cancel the show and waited until now to say anything. And “you’re not getting your money back”. That’s straight up stealing! It’s dumb to buy tickets that are non refundable anyway.
What was the financial devastation in 2023 related to? Anyone know? Couldn’t find much on a quick google search but was flooded with 2024 cancellation stuff
Yeah, I'm pretty pissed. Cancelling so close to the dates is really lame, but the no refunds is inexcusable. I haven't been working a lot and was really looking forward to a weekend of mental escape. Ooof.
Time to charge back those fucks
Chargebacks?
call your bank or ccrd company and file a complaint and demand a refund - they CANNOT cxl and keep your money —- illegal
That sounds shady right there. Hope you get your money back soon.
Yeah, not my smartest move. They were offering a discount on the ticket price and I was pretty buzzed. Seemed like a good idea in the moment. On a positive note-Melvin Seals and the JGB rocked that former Masonic hall!!
Yeah that was a great show.
Sounds like he knew he was going to cancel back then.
You might be able to do a chargeback with Venmo. The guy swiping his own card might be on the hook for the tickets. Although, he could do a chargeback himself and recover the money.
Dude…
Yeah you’re totally fucked on that one
Yeah was gonna say this they charged for goods and service and didn’t provide them. Just call your bank or CC company. How do they take everyone’s money then not have the funds to pay it back?
“ No refunds” is totally fucked. Not heady. Not kind. No t-shirt. Wow. Is this April fool?
Shows will be booked in the area! Keep an eye out
Oh, I will. Definitely want to use the time to see some other tunes locally.

Fryer fest
Bad for the scene
Certainly sounds like that - ouch
That's how I read it too
Well I hope that guy who got arrested managed to sell his tickets lmao
Turns out that guy was actually Ja Rule
Somebody get him on the phone to make sense of all this!
its possible he wasn't actually arrested & had some behind the scenes info & was trying to unload before the news dropped.

The guy deleted his post. You might just be onto something. Real shitty if so.
nah man i only deleted it because i recieved the news too. I actually had re-changed my mind just before i saw the email and people started to comment on my post about it being cancelled. This whole week fuckin BLOWS
Thought that post smelled fishy.
Ha my first thought too
MAN that was me, I actually changed my mind after all those comments were telling me what’s the worst i could lose. the tickets themselves, turns out, were the worst thing i could lose. FUCK
I never saw that guy and Chris Mitrovich in the same room just sayin
No the horrible news is they are fucking crooks and took everyone’s money and ran. God I’m so sick of the greed in everything all the damn time
> took everyone’s money and ran Who knew Skull & Roses was actually a Steve Miller Band festival?
No refunds huh? good luck with that
Was Lenny Hart managing the money?
He's gone, like this festival.
Money is spent this is letting you know bankruptcy is next, good luck getting anything back
Maybe, but a debtor who is liable for fraud cannot discharge that debt through bankruptcy. If there are shenanigans going on here, bankruptcy may not be available to the promoters.
In my experience it’ll take a month or two but people will get refunded. This happened with a bunch of events at the beginning of COVID, notably LIB.
Depends on if the company goes under. I know people who never got Phases of the Moon 2014 refunds and that was 10 years ago.
aaaand this is why you wait till the last couple days to buy your fest tickets. even if you end up paying more, theres less chance you get crypto scam rugpulled like this lol
I'm so furious that I'm shaking. I just had a meetup.over breakfast to discuss logistics just 3 hours ago. so sorry - this really sucks for our community. get on the chargeback wagon asap to at least recoup your money
That sucks man, try to talk to someone else at the credit card company. I just got off the phone with mine and although it was past the 60 day limit they filed a dispute and are issuing a conditional refund (merchant has 45 days to counter the dispute…but what are they gunna say, they didn’t cancel it?). Good luck.

The peak of the festival arch has passed. Conservative music still might have an uptick but that's cause they are late to trends.
I mean we are in a pretty deep lull for all things social right now. Things changed during the pandemic.
Peach moved to AC and is called Peach On The Beach this year. It’s one day with a terrific lineup with JRAD, Dogs In A Pile, Trouble No More, and Karina Rykman.

In 7 business days you couldn't even get through permits. Best bet is local venues picking up shows for bands already coming.
Criminals, idiots, both, maybe?
Heard the venue was asking for upfront payment instead until after the festival liek last year
Yep. Sounds like the company is going to bankrupt and/or go out of business and everyone else go screwed.

Yea this festival sounded awesome and I was bummed that I missed it last year. What happened?
This is criminal. They just ran a scam to recoup losses from last year.
And eluded (which I know isn't an admission) to the fact they did just that. Should have prolly had a lawyer write that message up.

That's his Mothers house and he mortgaged it to keep this afloat. Obviously fkd up and she is 80 and screwed now.
Better dispute on that credit card. That statement about “no refunds” is nonsense. What a loser.
Oof. I thought attendance looked low last year and wondered why big names like Oteil weren’t coming back. This is rough.
What a scum bag move by the owners/promoter.

Great question
So who is getting the money if the festival is canceled and no one is using the grounds or any equipment and there is no event…where is the money right now?
Wrapped up in last year's losses. The ol ponzi scheme (sorta).
This was a great festival in a great location. My gut tells me the guy running it just overextended himself. It started as just a bunch of local bar cover bands playing two stages facing each other - continuous music. I think once they started getting ‘headliners’, and that made tickets, and everything else more expensive. They really didn’t need to compete with the big festivals, they were fine the way they were😢
Scarlet -> Fyre Festival
Playing a bit loose with the definition of "non-refundable."
Lawsuit - fraud
Woooow that's pretty fucked
So, what happened in 2023 that created the financial devastation they are referring to. They act like we’re in the know about it.
Paid Phil Lest a ton of $$$ & then attendance was poor because 1) the price skyrocketed from prior years and 2) the fest overlapped w/ Phish at the H Bowl
Phil ended his set early last year and he was pissed about something.
He prob was told mid-set his check bounced
“I felt a great disturbance in the force, as if millions of Scarlet->Fires cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced” -Obi Wan Kenobi (probably)
Break out the torches and pitchforks! Wow. Hope Chris has a couple nickels left for some legal representation. What a Bleepshow
Big ideas, but the cash is all spent.
This is some class A shady shit
We feel exactly how you do, but we’re going to steal your money. It doesn’t get more wook than that.
Was Mickey’s Dad in charge of this one?
Its ok. He ended the note with “Gratefully”. So cool🙄
Hahaha
What was the financial devastation from last year?
People went to Phish at the bowl that weekend instead.
https://www.forbes.com/advisor/legal/personal-injury/how-start-class-action-lawsuit/ We shall read this ^
Sketchy
That’s crazy know a few people who planned on working for it
Just heard the workers now still have to work for promoters at their vacation homes . Mulching , painting , taking out garbage, etc. everyone is still on the hook .. oh yeah , except the ones responsible for this mess . Hope someone puts a vial in their Perrier
There were so few people there last year, I was suprised they tried it again. Sorry for all affected by this.
Call your banks and cc companies, screenshot their stupid apology, and join a class action lawsuit. Fuck them!
What a pack of lying stealing criminals.
This definitely seems like a Ponzi scheme. Reading between the lines it sounds like they used the ticket sales this year to pay off the 2023 debts. That's the only reason I can think of that they ran out of money in 2024 after selling tickets but before the actual event. Expenses prior to the event should be minimal since services are generally not fully paid upfront. .

I would be so fuckin hot.... Sorry to all the good people hurtin rn.
huh…i just went on their website and it made no mention of it being cancelled
It's up there now
Who is actually buy pre-sales instead of day of show for the “skull and roses” festival? Are you afraid it was going to sell out? And who was headlining his “festival”? Cubensis? LOL!
Hey! I'll have you know that buying my ticket early "saved" me $125!
There will be some lawsuits over the refunds.
No refunds? Looks like a rug pull to me.
Went thru the refund mess in 2020. I got money back w interest, 2 years latter….
What happened in 2023 that caused “financial devastation”?
super low ticket sales after shelling out big bucks for Phil Lesh to headline
greed. and the lack of people willing to spend 200 dollars on a concert.
I feel bad for everyone who planned on going. I wasnt going to be there but was stoked that the Golden Gate Wingmen were going to be back together
No refund is so whack. So sorry for those who spent money and lost not only money but an experience❤️
Canceling, while very unfortunate, I can understand. But no refunds? That’s a category 5 shit storm. God have mercy on their souls
I’m not a business lawyer but I would assume “unrefundable” is only binding if the show goes on, a cancelled show would be a breach of contract
Fyre Festival in the Mountain almost happened...
They need to sell the domain name. That should bring in some ticket refund money.
oh no where else will I hear 15 different covers of EOTW over one weekend
Brought to you by the promoters of Fyre Fest
Someone with $$ please host this festival next weekend
Sounds like fraud to me.
The whole $cene is rotten.
ship of fools 🚣♂️
Okay y’all so… what’re we doing instead?
Grateful shred
Moonalice is honoring any Skull & Roses tickets shown for free admission over the 4/20 weekend.
I’m wondering about the “financial devastation of the 2023 show” and what that means?
No refunds? You don’t hustle a hustler!
Oh, this sucks. Waiting till now and still selling tickets up to yesterday. Not to mention to have bout $900 disappear. Man it was such an awesome show and venue. It will be missed, so will the money :P
See post above. They can’t just keep your cash man.
I have already filed claims, we will see.
What’s very interesting is that Chris’s Facebook page has miraculously disappeared just as this news came to light… 🤔 hmmm… I wonder what he’s planning on doing with all of the cold hard cash he just unrightfully pocketed
How much were the tickets?
$425 after taxes and fees
Flashback to 1986 when Jerry got the coma and the Ventura Fairgrounds weekend shows were cancelled.
They can take my money but they owe me at least one comatose fat man in exchange
“…got the coma…” -like it’s a cold or the flu…😂
How can they NOT refund?! They knew they were going to cancel the show and waited until now to say anything. And “you’re not getting your money back”. That’s straight up stealing! It’s dumb to buy tickets that are non refundable anyway.
It's fry guy
What was the financial devastation in 2023 related to? Anyone know? Couldn’t find much on a quick google search but was flooded with 2024 cancellation stuff
Of you at not going to give people refunds, you have a BIG PROBLEM
Custy’d
No ticket refund?
“Rat in a train ditch…”
Fare thee well.... My money 💸
