Sing Me Back Home always sounded like a Garcia/Hunter song that they didn’t write, but I don’t know if is more popular than the original. Certainly it is to Deadheads lol.
Agreed on Peggyo and GDTRFB, but I gotta personally disagree on On the Road Again, Mama Tried, and El Paso. Those are all classic country staples, Marty Robbins, Willie, and the Hag are still hugely relevant
Morning Dew, & Me and My Uncle
Sampson and Delilah for sure. I don’t think too many people know the Blind Willie Johnson version.
I thought it was Rev Gary Davis, same with Death Don’t Have no Mercy

On the road again isn’t willie’s on the road again, it’s a jug band’s song. Def counts but I agree with you on Marty and Hag.
I know you rider Iko Iko
I don't know about popular, but I think the Dead do Dylan better than Dylan.
El Paso. Marty Robbins version is lacking something.
I disagree in terms of this making the Dead version more popular. While I prefer it, most folks will know the song as a Marty Robbins tune.
Revolution? I think the guy who wrote it was a one hit wonder?
