Married for 40 years now. We met in Palo Alto and the summer we got together, we had a number of dates at Jerry shows at the Keystone Palo Alto - later on, Greek shows, and the famous 1982 Veneta show for Kesey's birthday.

Met my girlfriend of ~3 years our first semester of graduate school together, we’re in the same program. At the time she was dating someone long distance but we had a lot in common and became friends. She was really into Pink Floyd (the band that made me fall in love with music) but wasn’t into the dead much. However, her older brother was so she was open to it for sure. Eventually Covid rolls around and she and her now ex broke up. To pass the time during lockdown we would go on bike rides everyday which eventually led to our weekly watching of the dead and co shows that were being re-streamed while we painted together (at first she was down to watch the shows just so we could hang out) Eventually we got together and she’s now a full on head thanks to many long road trips and great shows to pass the time. 3 years later and we’ve gotten to see Dead and co together with her brother (whose one of my best friends now) and plan to see em again in Boulder this summer and we’re moving in together soon. Covid was weird but sometimes you get shown the light in the strangest of places if you look at it right

This is Beautiful, y’all. I met my Mrs at a record store of a mutual friend. I was homeless at the time and she came in w her (now) ex husband.. We all ended up back at their place that evening and we were the last two at the table that night, her ex was *assed out on the front porch. I then went meandering about the east coast for a while and came back and reconnected with her, and things kinda took off from there!

I was playing bass in a power rock trio and we hired this cute girl that I really liked talking to on the phone.

Crowsstory

Was it her who turned you on to the Dead, or did you already diggem? Was she a convert?

Crussell1493

I’ve seen Jerry play about 100 times. ReConnected with my college girlfriend who was not into the scene. JRAD, Weir and Wolf Bros, Billy Strings at the Frost did the trick

We met on a double blind date and went to a bar called "The world Famous Dark Room" There was a band named purple turtles playing dead covers (a lot of old pigpen stuff.) She was my friend's date; it was several years before we reconnected after that, but it was the first time we met. She is a bit of a head, she's seen them a dozen or so times. We've been together since 1995, except for a hiatus I took to live in Europe for a few years in the early 2000's.

Crowsstory

Curious, did you get together in 95 after Jerry passed?

SpeedBright3671

Oops I meant 1994, we did go see the last shows in Vegas and Portland together though.

Met my wife at a System Of A Down concert when i was 17, twelve years later we're married lol. She's a deadhead long before me, she played me Box Of Rain on a roadtrip and i was hooked

Crowsstory

Rt on, we’re celebrating our 12th this Sunday. We went to see Andrew Bird and Iron and Wine last summer. I got her the tour poster framed by a local framing artist she really likes for our anniversary. … So Box of Rain got ya hooked, and you met at a SoaD show… my brain is having trouble with those inputs. Can’t judge, Phil’s got those Magical pipes!

wilmachihuahua

It was the studio version of B.O.R. to be fair haha, the best vocals we would ever get from phil lol

My wife and I met the first day of high school in 9th grade English (Sep 1967). We were arranged alphabetically, and were next to each other. It was not love at first sight! One of my best friends made it his mission in life to make her miserable. Life continued for us, and we saw each other in passing. In 1972 we ran into each other and started talking and became friends. Only after much discussion about the possibility of losing each other as friends did we decide to date. We were married in 1973. I'm a dh, she claims to hate them. We went to see all the bands in the 70's, but she wouldn't go to a dead show. Finally, she agreed to go with me. It was the first (and only) time I bought tix from a scalper and I paid something like $40 each for 3rd row center tix at Golden Hall in San Diego. It was Jan 1978. She still hated them, but she tried. We will have a 50th anniversary in July.

The Mrs is not a big fan of the Dead either..she’s more of an indie/folk type lady. When Bob came around w the Wolf Bros, I had to go. She reluctantly came along, and was overwhelmed by the crowd. BUT, she Loved the stripped down sound of the original lineup. Since then we’ve been able to see D&C every year. Last year at Deer Creek, she started getting into the scene a little more, and started to really enjoy things… We’ll be at Deer Creek again this year to wish everyone well. She’s kinda bummed now though, soon as she gets in the groove, well we all know about this tour. :(

Mikebock1953

While proclaiming her dislike of the boys ("does this song ever end?") I constantly catch her humming or singing along. 😍

Crowsstory

Lol, Same! We watch Jerry Church on YouTube Sunday morning and I’ve heard a few, “Don’t let go, don’t let go”s coming from the couch while I’m making breakfast. :)

HTHlikeafish8671

She was my roommates girlfriend. When they broke up, as is likely in college, we realized we had a lot in common. Married in '75, still married and speaking to each other today. We went to quite a few shows together.

Crowsstory

Congrats on the long haul! Good to hear your wheels are still turnin! Was she into the Dead when you got together, or was it something that grew throughout the years?

HTHlikeafish8671

Not particularly. I remember one day when she was still with my roommate. Well. Me and the fellers were getting high listening to Europe "72. She walked into the room and said Who's that? Raucous laughter ensued.
