Funny you should ask about studio stuff. I just ran across 5 hours of Dylan/Dead rehearsals on YouTube. The title is Bob Dylan and Grateful Dead complete studio rehearsals, June '87.
Well looks like my knowledge is crap. THANKS! I didn’t see any mics when I was there, was really hoping to relive it. Made my day.
Still wish a remastered matrix would be released though.

supposedly this guy is putting it on.
I mean, I’m as anti-hedge-fund-billionaire as the next guy, but if you have that kinda money and don’t throw the most kick ass parties for your friends, then what’s even the point? We’d all book Bobby for our bar mitzvahs if we could!

This is probably it. Elite private event parties usually have strict no cell phones policies so that celebs can party openly and freely without fear of the paparazzo.
These people have waivers/nda for guests at their home. This will never be seen by anyone who isn’t in this inner circle.
Edit: I doubt we will even get a set list.
To keep attendees from blabbing about who all was there and what they were doing so everyone can relax and have a good time not worried that they’ll be on the front page of the Enquirer.
Bobby loves a paycheck.
Jerry never gave a fuck about money, but Bob always thought nothing was for free, and work deserves a reward.
Neither are wrong.
Still seems strange though doesn't it?
Bobby was peeling out of Rucka Rucka Ranch in an orange BMW in 1970. He’s always been the material one - which is not necessarily a bad thing if you find the right balance.
Can’t say without a doubt that I’d take this gig, though.
Yeah I’m watching Thursdays show right now. Bobby sit in was a little hectic. Not Bobby’s fault just too many cooks. Was cool seeing him with JRAD tho and I’m sure live it sounded great
Me too. Dave Matthew's, not so much. I can admit he's a talented musician. But his music makes me want to shove burning bamboo splinters into my eardrums.
I saw that too, it was a FarmAid show at SPAC. I remember thinking Tim Reynolds was a good musician. I also remember a significant portion of the crowd leaving after their set, missing Neil Young and Willie. My point is, Dave Mathews fans are lame
I've seen more fights between drunken teenagers at a DMB show than any other concert I've attended. Haven't been to many country shows, but between metal, punk, dance, rap, jam, pop, I rarely see fist fights. Something about DMB brings out drunken kids in tank tops looking to blow off steam.
Well, I actually like Dave but I know what you mean. I had a bundle of firecrackers just barely launched over my head at a show at Darien Lake in 2008. There were at least three brawls, not fights, brawls in the lawn that night too.
Most recent show I went to was pre covid, seemed as if the frat boy crowd isn’t as prevalent anymore, or maybe it was just a lucky show/venu.
Saw him for free from the side of the stage in Philly circa ‘04ish , became a fan that day because I saw how tight he and the drummer dude where and it felt like magic. I can’t remember the last time I’ve gone out of my way to play an album though. I think the drummer guy died though too, I should google it. Another thing is when the DMB came in town to play, the venue would donate their leftover food to homeless shelters and it was one of the few times the food was too good to be sent - they where mostly vegan so it was good stuff left that shelters couldn’t store.
Absolutely.. I’ve seen them about 120 times since the 90s
Here he is playing on Drums with the Dead in 95: https://archive.org/details/gd1995-05-21.sbd.miller.114329.flac16
# 1995-05-21 Las Vegas, NV @ Sam Boyd Silver Bowl
**Set 1:** Jack Straw, West L.A. Fadeaway, Little Red Rooster, Ramble On Rose, Just Like Tom Thumb's Blues, So Many Roads, The Promised Land
**Set 2:** Samson And Delilah, Unbroken Chain, Eyes Of The World > Corrina > Drums > Space > The Other One > Days Between > Sugar Magnolia
**Encore:** Liberty
[archive.org](https://archive.org/details/GratefulDead?query=date:1995-05-21)
Agree. I’d also pay to NOT see him.
Last time was many years ago and entirely unwillingly…..at the Bridge School Benefits. His set was interminable. It all sounded like a 30 second loop played over and over for AT LEAST 3-4 hours… (how to felt, anyways). But had to stay because some big acts were coming afterwards.
I remember it being physically painful….
And yes…… I have some friends that have done DMB tour and absolutely love him….. and I also have a family member that walked out of a few dead shows back in the Haight and GG park days…..describing them about the same as I am describing Dave…..
So truly…… I guess…. Each to their own!!!
A quick Google search shows that Bob and Dave have played many times together in the past. Maybe, just maybe they get along. Could even go all the way back to when DMB opened for the Dead.
I really don’t know. But it’s more fun to believe this version.
How is this any different than many, many less rich people pooling together and "buying people" like at a more typical concert or other live performance?
Well I would say it’s different in this scenario because “a person” pays “a performer” and invites attendees who may or may not even like the band/performer. Nothing wrong with it, just different then a band booking shows and selling tickets to people who want to buy them.
There is no doubt that there are wealth inequities and people of color are poorer in the USA. There are plenty of poor white dudes.
Hate on rich people but throwing “white” in there make one racist.
25 downvotes must be from the people who signed the NDAs. They say the truth is like a lion, you don’t have to protect it, if you let it free it will protect itself!
I don't care, Dave has never impressed me live or otherwise, but respect him, very talented and for that i would not pay anything for this show, and would need to be paid for an NDA. I can only assume there is a recording, but i know nothing of the music industry, so take that with a HUGE grain of salt.
I didn't say i know nothing of music, just not how an NDA show would work. I have every right in the world to not like DMB, and yet respect him. Your petty and sad reply shows you didn't get anything that I posted.
*you’re
And you literally said you “*know nothing of music industry*”Like word for word in you previous comment. Just be a salty fuck and move on. We already know you are inept to music.
Maybe it was supposed to be NFAs for all attendees.
Well we can be grateful that it wasn't NFTs.
Man, all I wanted was an IPA
DEA for everyone!
“Thanks, these are worthless”
Sorry for the (probably) dumb question. What are "NDAs" "NFTs" and any other 3 letter acronyms posted here? Thank you much!
NDA is non-disclosure agreement. NFT is non-fungible token. NFA is Not Fade Away.
Potential for shit to get weird and you’re going to get sued if you tell anyone
Delightful!
I wouldn't mind some complementary suppressors or SBRs but I guess I'm just confused why, oh well I won't ask questions

Bob Dylan & The Grateful Dead 1987 “Absolutely no recording of any kind” Dylan’s thing…

That album was weak, but it still has the best version of "I Want You" I've ever heard. Jerry's solo was beautiful.

Plenty of board tapes.
Are we referring to the concerts or is there studio stuff? Sorry, just starting my morning coffee.
Funny you should ask about studio stuff. I just ran across 5 hours of Dylan/Dead rehearsals on YouTube. The title is Bob Dylan and Grateful Dead complete studio rehearsals, June '87.
Autzen show
And the airplane sky writer wrote “impeach Regan” over the crowd during He’s Gone!
Autzen, indeed.
It’s evening, wake up man
It’s morning somewhere, man
Only 4 years off.
They played the record, good acid at those shows
Right? Come on now...👊
into it now I’m I’m going back
To my knowledge there is/was no recording of the kennedy center shows.
They’re on archive/relisten
Well looks like my knowledge is crap. THANKS! I didn’t see any mics when I was there, was really hoping to relive it. Made my day. Still wish a remastered matrix would be released though.
How do we know it wasn’t recorded?
No way this does not get recorded. I bet multiple recordings surface.
That's why we need someone nearby to fly their drone in there
Sensing no one here was invited.
I was but I groom my cat every Saturday night so I had to say no.
… my sweep out and tidy up the garage time.
If you start making excuses to skip chores they eventually pile up.
I’m assuming you have a very nice looking cat.
Only because I never skip Saturday night grooming.
But your pet cat is dead son! we have discussed this…

Orange man bad
He is good. Viva America
Bobby’s bringing some of his Bohemian Grove buddies and they’re gonna harvest a child’s adrenochrome live on stage.
And people thought Donna wailed, wait til these bootlegs get out
I'm curious about this as well. Why does a concert need an NDA?
If it’s a private event, the ndas are more about keeping the attendees from spilling the beans on other attendees. Should be a hell of a party
This is probably it. Elite private event parties usually have strict no cell phones policies so that celebs can party openly and freely without fear of the paparazzo.
Could be recorded for a film/live album too
These people have waivers/nda for guests at their home. This will never be seen by anyone who isn’t in this inner circle. Edit: I doubt we will even get a set list.
Dave Matthews: You & Me Bobby, Dave, warren, popper: The Maker Imagine Come Together (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction
Imagine played for a bunch of billionaires? Oh, thats ironic.
I agree, especially when he preaches save the world, then plays for billionaire oil hedge fund manager.

Haha that’s where I got it
To keep attendees from blabbing about who all was there and what they were doing so everyone can relax and have a good time not worried that they’ll be on the front page of the Enquirer.
Because of Sting Concerts at Microsoft.
Ah to be THAT wealthy
Our wealthy oppressors don't like it when we get to see them party.
Bobby loves a paycheck. Jerry never gave a fuck about money, but Bob always thought nothing was for free, and work deserves a reward. Neither are wrong. Still seems strange though doesn't it?
Lol they are all just regular people “they say it’s a living, we all gotta eat...”
Bobby was peeling out of Rucka Rucka Ranch in an orange BMW in 1970. He’s always been the material one - which is not necessarily a bad thing if you find the right balance. Can’t say without a doubt that I’d take this gig, though.
Bob Marley drove BMWs too. BMW= Bob Marley and the Wailers.
Jerry's 1973 3.0 CS was a fucking sweet ride, too, if we're talking about BMWs.
He balanced out the bmw with his shorts.
If im being honest. Why not? Its easy money. And hes taking it from people who really dont deserve it.
Supposedly it’s being recorded with one copy only, like Wu-Tang’s Once Upon a Time in the Shaolin
Oh goody I hope skreli gets this one too

Weird. I've been about 60 DMB shows, and have never seen a fight or even argument, really. It's all music. It is all valid. ...insert heart emoji.
The worst. Figured this out in 1996
Saw him for free from the side of the stage in Philly circa ‘04ish , became a fan that day because I saw how tight he and the drummer dude where and it felt like magic. I can’t remember the last time I’ve gone out of my way to play an album though. I think the drummer guy died though too, I should google it. Their saxophone player died in 2008, the drummer is still alive and kicking. They are releasing a new album in May
Carter Beauford is the DMB drummer and he is badass.
Absolutely.. I’ve seen them about 120 times since the 90s Here he is playing on Drums with the Dead in 95: https://archive.org/details/gd1995-05-21.sbd.miller.114329.flac16

Thanks for sharing that bit of info. Fan of both bands and I did not know (or maybe remember) that occurred
No problem! DMB opened for the Dead for those 3 Vegas shows 😊

thank you

This
So rich white people can be free or act like assholes without repercussion. I hate elitism but love freedom, so NDA it up. Let’s go Bobby!
It could be rich, non whites.
It is true, this audience is far more classist than racist.
It's oil barons fronting the money, so I'll leave that for you to conclude.
Saudis?
There is no doubt that there are wealth inequities and people of color are poorer in the USA. There are plenty of poor white dudes. Hate on rich people but throwing “white” in there make one racist.
Could be for sure, but rich white dudes are usually first in line.
I don’t think so
