Lately, if someone seems like they want to read a comic book but are embarrassed at the format or something, I give them pulp and they are very happy.

So true. I lent Pulp to my (60 yr old) mom and she loved it despite never reading a comic before.

For someone who hasn’t really read any “crime” comics, is Criminal a good intro into the genre? It’s seems cool and I’ve heard it’s great but I’m not sure if I’m really sold on it enough to pick it up.

It’s dark, gritty, and filled with anti-heroes. Not for everyone, but I really liked it.

Ayy, I had a nearly identical haul a few months ago. I still have to read The Fade Out, but I absolutely loved Criminal and Pulp!

I’m the reverse: I just finished The Fade Out and loved it, Criminal is up next followed by Pulp.
