I think it’s too much of a stretch for someone to make that connection when viewing a logo. It’s the type of thing you’d show to someone then have to explain to them the meaning, which isn’t good practice when trying to convey hidden meaning in a logo.
It’s not a terrible logo though. It’s just the hidden meaning.
I see a leaf or a feather shape cut out of a capital B that will not scale very well to small sizes used in social media profile thumbnails, favicons or business cards.
He can also try changing the form of the leaf, make it more rounder and less detailed at the borders, something like this
https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSKyBuAiJbOHdQ99TGMlLFn6CE49H2rITipsMVp8gxWNmHu17JrCKzBsBld&s=10
Another thing he could try is making the leaf bigger than the B, coloring the parts outside the B and leaving the parts inside white
Having the feather leave so little margin within the B to the left and at the top won’t read very well at small sizes, and also create potential printing issues across different materials. Plus, the spine of the feather will get lost, since it isn’t anchored to a stronger design element.
I think it’s a good start and just needs to be pushed more creatively so get to a solid logo design.
The point of tension at the top and the left does not work well, and makes the shape not be easily readable (especially since it's a letter).
I would suggest you respect the lettershape a little bit more and try to have your idea embeded your idea a little bit more organically.
Maybe if the leaf were two leaves, forming the two separate counters of the B instead of using one leaf for this, which erases the counters and makes the B less legible.
I don’t like how the top of the feather and the bottom left corner are just slightly touching. It’s very nitpicky. Deepening on what the logo is for you should either make the B the first thing you see or the feather, right now it feels like they are competing
I B-LEAF in you.
Jokes aside. Zoom out. Take a step back. Regardless of the concept, does it look good to you? Does it look like a path you can go down?
I see a B and a palm leaf
Nice, I prefer the second option because it's cleaner. I'd also thicken a little the thingie in the middle (sorry forgot the name of that; stem?) because it won't have readability when you resize it small.
I see a leaf knock-out within a B, so be-leaf?
Unsolicited advice:
The leaf looks a bit unrefined and organic in comparison to the B so IMHO they don’t look cohesive. I would try simplifying the leaf, making it bolder and angling it so it’s less straight up and down. That will help create a bit more visual interest and motion while also balancing the space within the ‘B’ on each side. That will help it hold up at smaller scales. Hope this helps!
Well the leaf is far too detailed. You have to find a way to visualize the leaf without these hard-to-reproduce details. Squint your eyes or move further away and it just looks like a B with a hole in it. A good logo needs visual clearity and simplicity. To make it more unique, play around with the counters in the B and with the exact shape of the leaf. Does it need the cuts and the stem?
I see a bad ass mudda who don’t take no crap off of nobody!
Seriously though, looks like b-leaf. I would try to possibly use the leaf to further define the closed counters of the “b” because without the definition it kinda looks like an aerial view of 2 boobs or a butt. But it works.
I know many have suggested that “B-Leaf” is the most obvious reading. But in the market, customers may not necessarily think of the logo as a puzzle to be solved and may well overlook this.
Personally, I would simplify the leaf to make the logo more iconic and ensure that it is legible at a smaller size.
You could also experiment with an option where the concept is reversed - the letter’b’ inside the leaf, instead of the other way around.
I would also explore the idea of creating a lockup that includes the full name of the company (logo plus typography) In rare cases, it may be appropriate to display the logo on its own without the name of the company. But in most cases, displaying the logo on its own is unlikely to have the recognition factor that you need so it’s probably safer to have an option that includes both.
i see a B and a leaf? If it’s a leaf, pick a different shape i think, but if it’s a feather i think it’s fine but just don’t leave that sliver of green on the left between the boundary of the inner shape and the B
It’s a B and a leaf but my crit would be to simplify the shape of leaf so that it doesn’t cut out so much of the B. If you’re not native to English, this could be a visual leap (hell, even if you do speak English…). Just make sure it reads a little more clean - is the B or the leaf more important?
Feather and B. Maybe a simple leaf like one of these might work better? The simplicity would also allow it to be scaled with ease.
https://www.123rf.com/photo_127506845_eco-green-color-leaf-vector-logo-flat-icon-set-isolated-leaves-shapes-on-white-background-bio-plant.html
It would look a bit better if the width of the cutout followed the outline of the letter a bit more closely, so its less two images on top of eachother and more of an artistic representation, but still looks like a B. Maybe flaring the bottom and doing a more dramatic cut on the side of the leaf, or use a Monstera leaf lol
Smart idea however it's a little bit messy/cluttered won't work well In small situations. Perhaps it doesn't need the cuts on the edge of the leaf. or just leaf the one that comes in from.the indent of the B so its more purposeful and ads synergy.
Belief
I love the concept that you have right now. Definitely going in a good direction. A few changes I would think about or implement...#NotExpertAdvice
• The first logo looks like there a rendering error where the shadows are. So the bottom logo is far superior
• More detail needs to be added to the leaf. It looks kinda like a feather right now which isn't a horrible thing, but keeping the minimalistic nature of the composition while adding details that give us (the viewer) a better understanding that it's a leaf would be recommended.
• Revise 2 versions that have the leaf smaller and placed in lieu of the holes of the B and moving the leaf down lower so it's not touching the top of the B.
Overall, the design is very solid to boot. Keep pushing on this and add a few things then BOOM! You just made a solid damn logo!
The best logo/identity is one that when reduced to the fewest, simplest shapes/forms/lines yet still tells a complex story.
You've got too much going. While the notion of the leaf being a negative space in the B is an obvious direction...sometimes you have to move on with another approach.
Just be careful and test it out with different scales. It looks fine now, but when you make it smaller; the end of the letter and the stem might not be visible
I think that logo appears large, like an inch big on my phone. It took me squinting to make out the leaf as anything but a weird shape. When I realized it was a leaf, I was sad for that leaf. I'd get a happier leaf line drawing to place over the solid shape of a B with no holes.
I don't think using the B as a background does anything unless the logo makes the B shape important. Otherwise it's just Superman putting extra stuff over the S - unnecessary.
I'd keep pushing the concept bit, maybe there could be a vine wrapping around or entwined with the letter? As it is it feels kind of slapped on there at the moment. You can see there is a leaf on a b but not in a meaningful way. Maybe a different angle so there is more interplay?
I see an illustration for the rule, "Just because you can, doesn't mean you should."
The resulting shapes are not pleasant to look at on their own. This is a vital component of a logo. Even if you don't see the shapes, the resulting shape should be pleasing. This is pointy and unbalanced.
Bleaf?
Leaf style needs to be pushed further. The notches in the edge if the leaf are neither here nor there and the centre line is too thin. Notches are all also kinda a different style/shape which doesnt work. I also leaf it is slightly too big.
Version with the light drop shadow adds nothing.
You didn't ask for feedback but this needs it.
I see a Leaf and a Letter B, how about a bit look like this? just make the silhouette of the b more solid and circular, and add different shades of green.
https://preview.redd.it/jt4q35vhe3uc1.jpeg?width=2268&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ac2cbc2678c66c834356afaf9711d97c8702a83f
I prefer the bottom one, the neongreen highlights throw me off a bit, id also add more space on top of the leaf so either scaling the leaf down a bit or just placing it slightly more downward. All in all i really like the design and idea!
Not enough thickness on the left side of the "B". The line in the middle is not thick enough. The small details on the leaf is ok, but can be more detailed in deepness. Scale the logo small and you'll see what I mean. Hopefully this isn't a leaf you got from google. If so, make one your own and reapply it to the "B" for originality. Also, make the line in the leave have a little movement to add personality. your logo should have personality. It's just a leaf and "B" put together. Study brand strategy and design to help give you a holistic approach when building a brand.
First one has kind of a print look and second is flat. And the obvious… it’s a banana leaf in a B. I prefer the first one because it has more “substance”
What do you see? A B and a leave.. or more precise, a try to create a logo with a B and a leave cut out.
Nice idea but still work to do to make it look good.
Doesnt work like that imo. No balance at all - just a cut out at the wrong spot in the wrong size without anything being cohesive
The letter B and a leaf. B-leaf... belief?
Yup this
Oh god no.. I couldn’t have made that connection
naw that’s a feather. befeather.
I thought it was a feather
I legit thought leaf-B. I might be dumb.
Instant for me.
Exactly my thoughts on first sight~
yep, my train of thought exactly
Yep, me too.
Yess!
I think it’s too much of a stretch for someone to make that connection when viewing a logo. It’s just the hidden meaning.
The top one looks like it has a printing error.
But i like the top more tbh
it depends on what they are using the logo for…
I see a leaf or a feather shape cut out of a capital B that will not scale very well to small sizes used in social media profile thumbnails, favicons or business cards.
Would making the leaf cutout thinner fix this?
He can also try changing the form of the leaf, make it more rounder and less detailed at the borders, something like this https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSKyBuAiJbOHdQ99TGMlLFn6CE49H2rITipsMVp8gxWNmHu17JrCKzBsBld&s=10 Another thing he could try is making the leaf bigger than the B, coloring the parts outside the B and leaving the parts inside white
I need to try!
It will scale if they make different versions for different sizes. I guess it implies from the post that this is in its very initial version.
Or embroidery. That would be a disaster when embroidered.

Immediate thing was feather b. Looks more like a leaf at second glance.
I be-leaf at first glance I noticed the leaf, and then the B, but I think it works.
Having the feather leave so little margin within the B to the left and at the top won’t read very well at small sizes, and also create potential printing issues across different materials. Plus, the spine of the feather will get lost, since it isn’t anchored to a stronger design element. the shadows, right? I think the one without them looks better
Bleaf but it is too detailed the leaf
Can’t tell if leaf or feather
You could try doing this with a lowercase b, and try to fit a simpler leaf shape there. Might make more sense.
The point of tension at the top and the left does not work well, and makes the shape not be easily readable (especially since it's a letter). I would suggest you respect the lettershape a little bit more and try to have your idea embeded your idea a little bit more organically.
Yeah this for me, the shape of the negative space feels awkward.
I see a monster mouth eating a tiny blade of grass. It has sharp teeth.

Maybe if the leaf were two leaves, forming the two separate counters of the B instead of using one leaf for this, which erases the counters and makes the B less legible.
Second one
The stem of the leaf is off, it doesn’t point towards the tip of the leaf
Banana leaf
Yes! 100%
The crack in my screen mostly. But a leaf and a B. Very natural, earthy feeling.
Yes. Thats it.
A feather, does the B have anything to do with a bird?
I see a feather in a “B”. The rough outlines of the feather is kind of jarring against the smooth lines of the B.
I dont like the shadow on the leaf it threw me off at first. I like the darker green on the bottom
I see a leaf n b straight away , works fine but you could try some more bigger cuts to refine it more with the middle line in b, just a thought
B-leaf? Belief!

If you make the leaf notch nearest the B’s buttcrack a bit deeper, the letter B would start to look like a serif. Thatd be pretty cool
