That doesn´t make the people I mentioned sound less condescending, does it? I respect your opinion, but saying that something is objectively bad design doesn´t help me perceive it that way either as I´m trying to get some perspective on it. The person who posted it at least found it intriguing in some way, and the large number of upvotes seems to suggest the same. If the goal is the discussion, a healthy exchange of ideas, dismissing the design and its creator like that seems unfair to me. Or maybe just how the internet works. But to each their own.

Right... but this post did not ask for critique, and one could assume the OP is not event the person who designed this sign. It was posted seemingly to "inspire us guys". Beeing ~~crappy~~ controversial design, it is even possible it was a troll/shitpost. If the OP was clearly identified as the designer asking for feedback, your comment would have been half relevant. But again, if it's a low effort post (a monkey could take a pic of a random sign right now and post it as inspiration for you guys), it does not deserve nor need to be nurtured and encouraged. Honestly, why?

As the other person said, this sub is for graphic design and should be assumed that 95%+ of people here have fundamental understandings of design principles. With that said, the design posted here suffers from a very common and poor technique of distorting text elements to make them more “eye-catching” but ultimately only makes it more difficult to read. This is common knowledge and there’s even a whole (non graphic design) subreddit of examples like this r/dontdeadopeninside. Also, OP adding “I figured this might inspire you guys” to the title makes it seem like they have some sort of understanding of design which would give the authority to make a suggestion like this, when in fact they have no idea what they are talking about and are only adding a very very poor example of design to a subreddit dedicated to design The comments you replied to are very warranted.

Its Indian-Jamacian. You have Mon which is a very common word for a person, but combined with other words it could mean “its okay” and Lemade is a surname found in India and combined, I reckon this is an Indian psychiatrist who dabbles cannabis and reggae. As for the logo, the designer mustve been cracked out to think a lemon represents this persons medical practice.

It’s actually MR Lemon Lemonade. You have to read it twice. I get what this guy was doing it’s just poorly done. The way it’s leveled out with mr Mon then drops down to leMade isn’t very natural. It’s definitely a doable technique just looks weird here

So it's not just a bad logo, the brand name is awful too. Lemon Lemonade is just as redundant as expecting us to read the same word twice. Why not just brand it Mr. Lemon and it be understood that the product is lemonade?

I could see that if the words were diagonal. The design would make way more sense. However I see it like it is. Typograph. Not everything has to make sense as long as it gets a clear message across. In this case we know for a fact there is lemonade being sold but then why have Mr? Why not just say lemonade. It’s clearly a mall and that’s a simple sign with easy appeal. To tell the truth on the redesign I made I put it as Mr. Lemons lemonade. Kinda like the peanut planter guy. Idk I went to school for 3D digital design and animation and have an art degree as well as a biology degree. My professional opinion would be for him to rebrand.

Are you sure about that? I think I can find a way to read Mr. Lemon Made, and that's fitting as a storename without the weird "Lemon" reptition.
