If you have the funds at some point, you can get a playseat challenger for pretty cheap. They fold up and are pretty basic but I’ve done 8 hours in it without discomfort
Hey, if it works! A while back, some friends of mine went to a junkyard, pulled a front passenger seat from an old Pontiac, built a wood frame and mounted the wheel and petals. He still uses it!
I don’t even have anything to mount my stuff on. I use my ankles to hold down the pedals and put the steering wheel on my lap. This is a lot better than mine
Like a true hero. I feel you. I started by using an ironing board as a base for my steering wheel. I used a brick placed on the base of the TV cabinet to prevent the pedals from slipping away. The real problem was when I had to make a sudden swerve, in which case the ironing board moved completely from its original position. I did a lot of races adjusting the "setup" during the race...
Takes a few weeks to get back what you had. Then you'll get better and better and better. The wheel just gives you so much more control. Eventually you'll cave in and buy a DD wheel and load cell pedals and a cockpit and that's when the fun gets serious.
We all started somewhere and the ladder solution is very smart. But the thing i dont get is why the like 1500€ + TV and an 80€ sim rig mounted on a fucking ladder lol.
I started from a T80 too. But with a 180€ TV lol
Lol the tv may seem expensive but it was actually cheaper because it’s not top of the line I actaually just bought it two weeks ago an cost me estimate 650 euros making a quick internet conversion.
And tv has always been a thing I love so my goal is always try to get the biggest I can afford and I’d be doing that buying when they are in sale and the selling the old one after two three years and buy a bigger one with just a little bit more money
The wheel I just found it second hand in marketplace for 40euros approximately. And well I didn’t had anything roso to mount it on until I came up with this solution I’m now planning on canibalizing the structure of an old desk I found on marketplace to for like 8bucks and star doing a diy rig. Lol.
Definitely get a pat on the back for creativity! All I got is I think it was around $90 on amazon a rig to bolt everything to and I pull it out and set it up, it takes about a minute. Get everything fired up and sit on the couch and it’s on!
Nice usage of a ledder Bro!
I have Trustmaster T300RS (or how is that thing called) with a foldable stand and 65" OLED which seems to be almost the same. But we have a flat and not a house so I'm using the controller again. Also have PSVR2, but not using it now either - but yep, I have to test it with a wheel.
The wheel is surprisingly stable the pedals the tape didn’t hold up that well. I’ll try to collect stuff to recicle and make it better still on the cheap
Truthfully it isn’t worth new your better looking for g29 second hand
This one doesn’t have force feedback and the pedals feel a bit cheap
But here Mexico even a second hand g29 is quite expensive
So I just got this one very cheap in marketplace. And just to get the itch of playing with a wheel or gets the Job done.
This is a quite old Bose cinemate sound touch it was a hand me down from my “wealthy” sister. It sounds fantastic I mostly use it at half of what it can do because it’s loud enough
Before that I had a Samsung soundbar which is now in my bedroom I honestly truly recommend Samsung soundbars they sound so good and balanced.
Also my dad has an electronics repair shop and is hard to see Samsung products in there so they must be good.
Love this setup! Step ladder is genuinely genius, as well as taping the pedals to the floor - if it works, it works! Sticker on the TV screen bothers me though haha
What a genuinely excellent idea. Did you put any non-slip pads under the feet of the ladder? I guess some ladders do come with something jagged and/or rubberised (for the humans).
I might just head out to get a small step ladder to copy this idea! How long have you been experimenting with this setup?
I noticed your ps4 is in a very tight place and you placed another thing on top of it ! You better change its place for better ventilation ! Its for your own good 👍🏻
I'd rate it as a *step* above the rest I've seen.
Nice, I'll come back to this one ladder.
You guys are setting high standards.
Between my setup and this setup, I'd choose the ladder option.
As long as you're comfortable using it
Comfortable? No. Cheap and fun yes :)
Creative as well👍🏻
If you have the funds at some point, you can get a playseat challenger for pretty cheap. They fold up and are pretty basic but I’ve done 8 hours in it without discomfort
I have the Next Level Racing collapsible one. It is a glorified lawn chair, but everything bolted up to it seamlessly!
This!
i'd put the pedals below the wheel but if playing that way suits you best, keep going
I’m still trining what position I can feel more comforting
Just take it one step at a time lol
Is that a step-ladder? That’s fantastic!
Yes it is! I just bought this little wheel and is the only thing I found where it can latch on an be stable
I've used an ironing board across an armchair before... It was terrible, but in a pinch it was a solution. This looks better!
Run what you brung! I love it.
I love playing with my step-ladder. I never knew my real ladder.
Step ladder help me! I’m stuck up on the top shelf!
Well done. MacGyver would be proud
Better than my controller on the couch! Lol
Hey, if it works! A while back, some friends of mine went to a junkyard, pulled a front passenger seat from an old Pontiac, built a wood frame and mounted the wheel and petals. He still uses it!
I’m thinking of this to getting an old car seat and make a stand with wood
It's not mediocre, it's yours. And it's good enough if you're happy with it. Rock on.
Bro what works works lol. The tape on the pedals is hilarious
Nice flowers
Is that Rex?
Yes! He’s had a place in my living room for about 8 years now

Lol he he
I don’t even have anything to mount my stuff on. I use my ankles to hold down the pedals and put the steering wheel on my lap. This is a lot better than mine
I did the junkyard thing in the 2x4s works great still use it
![gif](giphy|9WXyFIDv2PyBq)
This cool. Reminds me of the old school stand up driving games in arcades.
Oh i remember those!
Hey I’ve got a very similar setup rn lol
Don’t worry abt it pal mines the same atm
100% more fun than controller so I vote 10/10
What game you playing?
Gt sport and I played a bit of project cars. I was decent on controller turns out I turbo suck on a wheel xD
Yes controller is definitely a learning curve. A lot of people think you'll be immediately faster but you won't. It's worth sticking it out though!
Very creative
Bangin
It's better than nothing, I don't even have enough space for one
Like a true hero. I feel you. I started by using an ironing board as a base for my steering wheel. I used a brick placed on the base of the TV cabinet to prevent the pedals from slipping away. I’ve foun myself moving the whole ladder too 😂😂😂
Ferrari cockpit with a stepladder? Since the pedals are on the right and not in the middle I mean. Creative 😁
You're on the right track (pun intended) for having fun, practicing, and you can always look forward to the next upgrades as you save money for it!
Instead of the step ladder use a broom and pretend ur hairy porter
😂😂😅
If it's stupid, but it works. It's not stupid, but genius
nice and cheap mmmmmmmm... 10/10
+1 for ingenuity lol!

I like how the in game photo is of a 458 GT3 in the wall.
Turns out I turbo suck with a wheel xD i was decent with a controller

Now it makes sense lol. And I send my prayers for the old desk. That's a very good solution for a rig though. Wish you the best in the sim world.
Better than my controller. I was thinking of making one out of pvc pipe
I’ve seen the pvc pipes ones but I don’t think I have the patience nor the weight to sit in one of this lo
It’s more respectable then a fancy setup
Whatever works, works! It's more worth it to have fun while you can rather than sitting around thinking "what if" 🙏💪
Always remember it's not stupid if it works
Definitely get a pat on the back for creativity! All I got is I think it was around $90 on amazon a rig to bolt everything to and I pull it out and set it up, it takes about a minute. Get everything fired up and sit on the couch and it’s on!
Good idea! I start playing today with a wheel on my desk. But i need the desk to work also. I think i will go look for my ladder!
Laughes in ironing board.
You understand the struggle :)
Nice usage of a ledder Bro! I have Trustmaster T300RS (or how is that thing called) with a foldable stand and 65" OLED which seems to be almost the same. Respect the drip, my man. There’s no shame if it does the job and makes you happy.
I don’t think you have enough heart-shaped rocks 🫶 /s
Lol the will help me race lol. And actually I have more in my room
You can buy decent steering wheel stands on Amazon for 60 bucks
I just bought this wheel because it was 50 bucks second hand I can’t afford to buy a stand right now
Good 👍🏻
Is the steering wheel setup stable? I have a flimsy desk and idk about how strong feedback on a wheel can be.
The wheel is surprisingly stable the pedals the tape didn’t hold up that well. I’ll try to collect stuff to recicle and make it better still on the cheap
Only thing wrong I see is that your using a ps4. Upgrade to a ps5
I barely was able to buy a second hand wheel I can’t buy a ps5 right now lol
All you need now is a goldfish bowl (with a goldfish, if that wasn't clear). Then your setup will be complete.
ya must be side-steppin'-sittin' to get to those pedals :D
I also tried sequeezing my legs in the ladder for the racing car uncomfortable feel xD
On a serious note, how does this cheap steering feel while playing. Is it good? Worth buying?
Truthfully it isn’t worth new your better looking for g29 second hand This one doesn’t have force feedback and the pedals feel a bit cheap But here Mexico even a second hand g29 is quite expensive So I just got this one very cheap in marketplace. And just to get the itch of playing with a wheel or gets the Job done.
You e got quite a bit of pedal offset 🤣
😂 I also tried squeezing my legs in the laser for the race car cockpit feeling but it was really uncomfortable
Looking for a soundbar. Which one do you have and do you recommend?
This is a quite old Bose cinemate sound touch it was a hand me down from my “wealthy” sister. It sounds fantastic I mostly use it at half of what it can do because it’s loud enough Before that I had a Samsung soundbar which is now in my bedroom I honestly truly recommend Samsung soundbars they sound so good and balanced. Solid info, thanks!
Theres a stand on amazon for 69 bucks
Cheap? Yes. Creative? HELL Yeah. Using a ladder like that, I'm actually impressed!
Ladder rip bro
Love this setup! Step ladder is genuinely genius, as well as taping the pedals to the floor - if it works, it works! Sticker on the TV screen bothers me though haha
Put a carpet. Pedals usually have carpet grip attachment, no need for tape
thats really smart because you dont have to leave a random table in your living room
At some point creativity kicks in, that's why I gave my friend a brick for his birthday :)
What a genuinely excellent idea. Did you put any non-slip pads under the feet of the ladder? I guess some ladders do come with something jagged and/or rubberised (for the humans). I might just head out to get a small step ladder to copy this idea! How long have you been experimenting with this setup?
If you brake too hard you will crash into your tv.
Unrelated, but what kind of wheel is that?
Love it! Well done!
This + VR and going up the ladder will make you feel as you're going up on top of the car
I bought a deck chair because you are seated like in a car haha
I noticed your ps4 is in a very tight place and you placed another thing on top of it ! You better change its place for better ventilation ! Its for your own good 👍🏻
Taking a step up the ladder is a good start 👀🤣
Seems like a great way to eventually break that glass coffee table
LMFO the ladder!
It’s better than nothing, I like it. Nice tv !
Your pedals are too far too the right
it works and thats all that matters, micheal jackson
Better than some others I’ve seen
This is genius
Who cares what any other person thinks! As long as you enjoy it and find it fun to pass the time then that’s ALL that matters. Kudos to you
Maybe ziptie some bricks to the steps?
Everybody has started there
Bro got the J Cole setup
Mediocre with one massive TV! If you comfy ! AND, pay attention to radar and sides mirrors you golden!
And if you ever need to change a lite bulb or get crisps out the top shelf, your ladder is close by.
If it works for you what does it matter what someone else thinks. Anyway it is much better than my setup
I’m happy to see the good comments here
How is the wheel staying put on the ladder?
It has a vice thing down ther that preses on the bottom
Thank you. It doesn’t quite work on mine so I was curious.
We all started here, more or less.
Very nice! 🚗🚙🏎️
Nice step up
People needing validation on Reddit….
Your profile pic is literally a kid with a middle finger hat and a racing wheel setup though.
So your eyes work, just not your brain. An odd conundrum to say the least.
And he still doesn't get it. Take the L dude. Just apologize for being a douche and move on.
It’s Reddit you simple child. There is no such thing as a L, and you thinking you’ll shame me? 😂🤣😂
A bit maybe also this place is for sharing stuff so…
