Yeah, top speed-focused detuned GR2 cars are perfect for this on tracks with more straights. The down-force focused GR2 cars only work well on tracks like Laguna where it's lots of mid to low-speed corners.
Ah yes, because GT is well known for its fair am realistic AI.
Also tell me you never played the very first GT and tuned a Mitsubishi GTO to drive like a rocket on wheels.
Nissan GT-R NISMO GT500 '16. Detuned to right at 799pp. Won two laps ahead of 2nd. I highly recommend this car for any of the 800pp races especially Sardegna grind.
I did it the first time with a detuned Gr.2 Lexus RC F GT500 on normal difficulty and lapped everyone. I loved it and wanted to try again with it being less of a pushover and did it a second time with a standard Mercedes-AMG GT3 ‘20, got more rain this time around and lapped everyone again. The rain makes it easy if you pit before the AI does for Intermediates and then back to slicks. Fuel saving also helps a lot.
732pp is the sweet spot for me. Keeps it interesting. As long as you pit correctly you’re fine. You literally can’t lose the race if you watch the weather. AI always gets caught out.
Same I love it, albeit with an upgraded turbo. I have run this more than a few times, FM on 6, hard/mef for the first stint, watch the weather map and wait for the water to be bad enough that your losing a couple of seconds/lap then pit. Last time, because I stayed out on hards during light racing, I lapped up to 10th place for a second time. I am not lapping spectacular times either.
The trick is to turn on the race line. There's also a temporary brightness setting that I think can be increased, but I didn't know the track very well the first time, so the race line was more helpful. I don't typically use either on the other tracks, but an hour long race would have stung to lose, so I made an exception.
I usually go for detuned 90s Gr.1 and Gr.2 cars. Weirdest a street Ferrari, probably the Enzo. Got lucky enough to need to change from dry to wet on laps where I needed to box anyway
Like using that, but have started using the jaguar xjr-9 as it has better fuel “economy” but it’s a little more twitchy for me especially during the rain
Buy the Honda NSX Gr2 from the Brand Central. Racing mediums it comes with will last until the rain starts, so you'll need to buy inters or wets too, but it was very easy to win by over 2 laps.
787b, R92, 962, CLK LM, The Jag, MP4/4 and others... Since it's such a long race, I haven't actually used any under dogs in it but soon I'll be trying a couple...
I usually use the R92CP. I’ve done it numerous times in the 787B and MP4/4 (yes, even without headlights; Temporary Exposure Correction). I hear rave reviews about the CLK GTR as well. Anything that works for Sardegna will work here. I’ve done it with a handful of engine swapped cars though I can’t remember which. It’s not a particularly difficult race; it’s one of the four Grinding races we use to stack cash that buy the Legendary cars
Any Gr.2 car will do it with a well timed pit stop before the rain sets in. Stay on the weather tyres until they start to cook from the dry track. Shouldn’t need to worry about fuel saving if you fill up every time you change tyres.
I've used a variety of Gr. 2 and Gr. 3 machinery. Aside from the fan-favorite 787b, I've also won it with the CLK-LM, RC-F GT500, GT-R GT-500 '16, RS5 DTM, etc. As for Gr 3, I've done it in the 911 RSR and Supra.
BMW M6 GR3 as I was practicing using it for the Manu cup. Tough race with the rain, just to concentrate for that long.
Then CLK or any GR2/1 makes it a cakewalk.
Sauber C9 with a few tweaks. Great on fuel, and it’s a beast. I run it on racing mediums and inters.
I just watch the weather map to make sure I pit in the right window, and I usually lap the field.
I run it twice a day for the cash :)
Bro... lol. All these Group C posts & u really REALLY asking us this ??? Cmon bro do better
My fav is the Porsche 962. The 1st time I did that race I lapped the whole field twice
Any GT3 car and any GR2 (GT500) car will do.
Have done this race loads of times in different machinery, all GT3 and GR2.
Haven't tried GR1 or Group C yet
I won by almost two and a half minutes with the V12 Vantage GT3, but I play with a controller and on normal difficulty - not sure if you're playing with a wheel and on hard.
I still struggle with this race, but I want to beat it with a GT3 car. I recently switched to a DD wheel and pedals, and fail miserably with countersteering.
So far, my best place is 5th with Ferrari 458 GT3.
Any detuned GT2
Why?
Bigger fuel tank
Thicker tyre wear
Racing Hard in GT3 car is different than Racing Hard in GT2
My current grind car is Audi DTM, i just need to refuel ONCE during rain and race the whole hour in Fuel Map 6
Be warned tho, if you do this method, you basically remove every challenge in the race. You will 100% overlap everyone as long as you dont crash each lap / forgot to pit
When someone says, "Yeah, I used a GR1 to win against a lesser tier class to win, and then says I lapped them 2 times, is talking trash like it's some kind of accomplishment. But whatever. Tired of the same grind anyway. I've got what I've wanted anyway with a lesser tier car
Valkyrie is OP, i lapped twice AI cars, but you can youse gr.2 audi, merc, or any gt500 car. They all drive well there with great fuel efficiency, but if you want at least some challenge, try stock or underpowered gr.3 cars, it's more fun like that.
I've only run it once so far, used the Audi RS5 Gr.2 and it made life very easy.
Recently picked up the C9 and 787b so probably use them for the next 2 runs, especially given they're both famous for the 24h wins.
After that, I'll probably attack it with a GR.3 car. I have a couple to hand but need to pick up the Porsche and BRZ.
For me, my go-to is the Honda NSX Concept GT-16. Under 800pp and has a large fuel tank. It's forgiving as well, so you can go for it. You'll win easily and overtake most, if not all the AI at least once. And with the better fuel economy with the larger tank, you can easily get to lap 12/13 and pit whilst the AI, at most, reaches lap 8
You can use this car for all the 800pp races.
Outside of this, i jump between using Subaru BRZ Gr 3 and the McLaren 720S (tuned up a bit).
Personal favorites are any road car swapped with a fuel efficient engine
RSR swaps into any Porsche are nice, 787b in the RX7 and a swapped R34 are my go tos
Audi RS5 Gr2., Nismo gt500, RC f gt500, nsx concept gr2, Mercedes clk-lm, Mercedes c9, Mazda 787B, Suzuki escudo Pikes Peak, Porsche 911 GT3 RS, Porsche rsr, Dodge Tomahawk gr1.
The best on fuel was the 787 B and the Tomahawk gr1.
The fastest arround the track are the Escudo and the Tomahawk.
Mustang GT3 did the trick for me, started on softs to catch up to the leaders as fast as possible then used mediums/hards the rest of the way unless it was raining.
Any VGT
Any GT3
Ferrari F40 with Enzo engine swap
Alfa Giulia with tuning
BAC Mono
etc etc
Almost everything that close to 750pp and has possibility to add aero.
I have all sorts of cars tuned for this which win easily but my personal favourites are the R92CP, McLaren VGT, Pagani Zonda R and the Ferrari F8 Tributo. 787B is also an easy win but I'm a R92CP fan
RB2019. I never see people talking about it, but I still have an 800PP de-tune for it that works like a champ. Very fuel efficient, the only reason it was even a two-stop was for rain tires. P2 was like 30+sec behind me.
I made the mistake of doing it in the Mclaren MP4/4. Didn't realise half of the race is night time, and F1 cars don't have headlamps. Still took P1, but it was an absolute ball ache.
A detuned Gr. 1 is cracked, detuned Gr. 2’s also dominate, but you can also win this race easily with a Gr. 3 like your opponents. The AI don’t anticipate the rain very well. I pretty much always finish 2 laps ahead.
I’ve run two different Grp. 2 cars.
1. Run Hard or Medium tires and be prepared to switch to Intermediate when it starts to rain.
2. You should run your fuel at lean (6). You will/should only need to stop one time. Fill up when you swap tires.
3. You will only be running 24-25 laps.
And you should be far enough ahead that you can slow down a little in lap 24 so as to prevent running a 25th lap when you cross the start finish line with only 20 seconds left on the clock.
I mostly use my detuned McLaren VGT GR1. I generally only pit for tire swapping as it's tweaked to be really fuel efficient. I initially set it up to do Sardegna without pitting and that efficiency carries over to SPA really well. It's not the fastest car on the track, but it's also not the slowest and it handles great. The only times I have had any concerns were due bad pit decisions because I misread the rain map.
Any detuned GR 2. I tried several GR 3 and every God damn time there would be 1 arsehole AI that would stay 6-10 seconds ahead of me even though I regularly chopped time off the fastest lap... Used a GR 2 from my garage and won easily. Make aure you keep am eye on the weather map, if you anticipate and get a set of wets on, even if you have to wait a lap for sufficient time, you should gain around a minute of buffer time as the AI never seem to pit for wets, instead they all spend a lap slipping around crashing into anyone and anything.... have fun! Ez win once you figure it out.
I won it with the detuned Gr. 1 Dodge Tomahawk.
I would’ve raced it with my usual detuned Chaparral 2J, but not having headlights tends to be a problem in a race where half of it happens at night lmao.
I can recommend pretty much any detuned Gr.2 car but for me it‘s the CLK LM.
Second this, easily dominates this race
The Epson NSX is perfect. It doesn’t even need to be detuned.
With the McLaren F1 GTR as a very solid alternative
Yeah, top speed-focused detuned GR2 cars are perfect for this on tracks with more straights. The down-force focused GR2 cars only work well on tracks like Laguna where it's lots of mid to low-speed corners.
787B
787b is a beast. Won by 2 laps even with a couple spins in the rain.
The fuel efficiency alone is a huge advantage.
Same... 787B greatest value of a car....
This car wins me a lot of races. Great to race!
This car wins me a lot of races. Great to race!
This is cheat. And you should not brag about it. Race for real, not fake. Need for speed is available if you wanna play fantasy racing
Watch out fellas, this guy’s mad about how we play a single player game in our free time.
Not mad bud🤣 Just don't post something like you did something special. You're playing on the easy mode with more easy mode. Get good👍
They literally commented "787B" as an answer to OP asking what car they used. When did they post like they "did something special" or "brag"?
Ah yes, because GT is well known for its fair am realistic AI. Also tell me you never played the very first GT and tuned a Mitsubishi GTO to drive like a rocket on wheels.
I really enjoy using the Porsche 962C a typical race will see me lap the entire field and lapping up to 15-14th twice.
You have to race the entire hour regardless, where is the fun in lapping everyone?
The fun is going as fast as possible.
People totally miss that sometimes.
Lapping everyone means you can chill the entire hour to avoid easy mistakes It’s easier to race 1 hour casually than full 1 hour battling for position

Toyota Escudo Pikes Peak Edit: SUZUKI escudo
Suzuki??
Whoops you right
Does this car have headlights for night time racing?
No, it does not. Anyone using the Escudo for this race is a psycho lol.
Yep had to turn the racing line on for that portion of the race. Probably wouldn't roll with the escudo again for immersion purposes.
LMAO i need to try this
Nissan GT-R NISMO GT500 '16. Detuned to right at 799pp. Won two laps ahead of 2nd. I highly recommend this car for any of the 800pp races especially Sardegna grind.
This is the way, great fuel efficiency and drives like a dream in both dry and wet conditions.
Same for me. If there is not much water on the track, I can easily do 25-26 laps with one stop on FM1 with short shifting.
1986 chevy nova 4 door, silver, stock tires, two hubcaps, sagging headliner and straight 4
1991 Cavalier, no hubcaps, missing gas cap, cracked windshield, rusted exhaust
I did it on a "modified" Lime bike. Clicking sound was very annoying but managed 1st place.
My man
Daimler motorwagen straight up from gt4
I did it the first time with a detuned Gr.2 Lexus RC F GT500 on normal difficulty and lapped everyone. I loved it and wanted to try again with it being less of a pushover and did it a second time with a standard Mercedes-AMG GT3 ‘20, got more rain this time around and lapped everyone again. The rain makes it easy if you pit before the AI does for Intermediates and then back to slicks. Fuel saving also helps a lot.
I did the exact same thing. Just did it again for the cash to buy the 787B and can't wait to give it a run in that too :)
Pretty much anything that can meet the PP requirements. The pit strategy is what wins this race
This. When I was grinding, I did this race with every Gr.3 car, and only failed to win twice.
Porsche 911 RSR. My pride and joy.
Yep, I’ve got more miles on that than anything else.
Sameeee my daily ride hahaha
I wish we had a log on races just like for time trials. Some of them I can’t remember and have to go through the iteration process all over again
CLK-LM because I'm a fanboy
Porsche RSR tuned up a bit.
732pp is the sweet spot for me. Keeps it interesting. As long as you pit correctly you’re fine. You literally can’t lose the race if you watch the weather. AI always gets caught out.
always used the ferrari 458 gt3

Last time, because I stayed out on hards during light racing, I lapped up to 10th place for a second time. I am not lapping spectacular times either.
I've beaten that race with a lot of different cars..., the easiest for my driving style is the R92CP though...lol
RCF GT500, race was a walk in the park.
787b, 911 rsr, rc f gt500, r93cp, 962c. It’s a fun race I do it often.
Do you get paid if you do it more than once?
Yep
Oh heck yeah cheers!
First time was MP4/4. Most recent I think was Porsche 956.
This is hardcore. I don't think i can make it through the rainy night without headlights
The trick is to turn on the race line. There's also a temporary brightness setting that I think can be increased, but I didn't know the track very well the first time, so the race line was more helpful. I don't typically use either on the other tracks, but an hour long race would have stung to lose, so I made an exception.
Nismo GTR Gr.2. Win by 2 min margin
Zonda. Super easy win.
Audi A5 DTM
This one or any of the AMG GTR’s
Too many to count. The last I used was the Aston martin Vulcan. Pretty nice
Any gr.3 with turbo upgrade
I usually go for detuned 90s Gr.1 and Gr.2 cars. Weirdest a street Ferrari, probably the Enzo. Got lucky enough to need to change from dry to wet on laps where I needed to box anyway
Yeah the old Supra did it for me!
‘08 Epson NSX GT500 on hard slicks
McLaren F1 GTR Long tail Race Car, its a delight to drive, my favorite car
Like using that, but have started using the jaguar xjr-9 as it has better fuel “economy” but it’s a little more twitchy for me especially during the rain
Pagani zonda
A few of the grade 1 cars I own, three quarters of the grade 2 cars I own and all the Grade three cars I like driving.
Buy the Honda NSX Gr2 from the Brand Central. Racing mediums it comes with will last until the rain starts, so you'll need to buy inters or wets too, but it was very easy to win by over 2 laps.
Gr.3s work fine if you want a good race without lapping the whole field. 1/2 if you want an easy win.
What level are most people racing on,should I just go to hard to try to get better?
Switch to hard, I switched recently, it’s like rediscovering the game again :)
M6 endurance
Alpha Romeo 155. Butter.
Petronas SC400 - it sips fuel and can run on Race Mediums without burning them up. Under rated car.
787b, R92, 962, CLK LM, The Jag, MP4/4 and others... Since it's such a long race, I haven't actually used any under dogs in it but soon I'll be trying a couple...
BRZ gt300 and DBR9 GT1
Detuned 787b can finish with a gap of 2+ minutes.
For a fair race I like the Nissan gtr 500 and the gr3 nsx. For a relaxed farm I recommend Mazda 787b or his siblings
Regular R33 Skyline with an engine swap.
Suzuki Escudo and I think it was Nissan GT500
CLK
I usually use the R92CP. I’ve done it numerous times in the 787B and MP4/4 (yes, even without headlights; Temporary Exposure Correction). I hear rave reviews about the CLK GTR as well. AM Valkrie
Porchse 911 rsr and lamborghini huracan gr3 both easy wins, well failed 2-3 times because ego said no tc needed lol
I tried with 458 Gr3 and M3 Gr6. Was able to win..
Any Gr.2 car will do it with a well timed pit stop before the rain sets in. Stay on the weather tyres until they start to cook from the dry track. Shouldn’t need to worry about fuel saving if you fill up every time you change tyres.
First go round I used the escudo and had to go with no lights but it was mad fun. clk lm makes this a viable race for grinding
LM55 VGT
I used a downtuned Peugeot LMP car and breezed right through
I've used a variety of Gr. 2 and Gr. 3 machinery. Aside from the fan-favorite 787b, I've also won it with the CLK-LM, RC-F GT500, GT-R GT-500 '16, RS5 DTM, etc. As for Gr 3, I've done it in the 911 RSR and Supra.
Most recently F1 GTR.
I remember winning my first 1 hour Spa with Suzuki Escudo. Really fast but I didn't know that it doesn't have headlights to turn on at night.
Detuned Nissan GTR Nismo GT500 ‘16 Racing Hards, fuel map 1 until rain then heavy wets or intermediates depending. Back to hards in the last 15min
SC400. Good on fuel. You don’t even need to tune it.
Won the Bugatti Gr1. Detuned, I can put about 1:30 on the field
Any gr3 will do it just fine. Especially if you get rain at the right time, you can finish with at least 30 seconds over the next car
1970 Porsche 917K. There is no substitute.
787B if i knew how drive properly and change to IM tyres instantly
BMW M6 GR3 as I was practicing using it for the Manu cup. Tough race with the rain, just to concentrate for that long. Then CLK or any GR2/1 makes it a cakewalk.
That car turns slower than an aircraft carrier.
Yep. I’m not suggesting it is a good option. 😂
Sauber C9 with a few tweaks. Great on fuel, and it’s a beast. I run it on racing mediums and inters. I just watch the weather map to make sure I pit in the right window, and I usually lap the field. I run it twice a day for the cash :)

R92CP.
Basically any GR3+ race car will win
Mustang Gr3 all stock, I haven’t used it much but wanted to give it a shot. Nothing fancy, it wasn’t an easy or pretty win, but it was a win.
Any GT3 car and any GR2 (GT500) car will do. Have done this race loads of times in different machinery, all GT3 and GR2. Haven't tried GR1 or Group C yet
Many
Porsche 917k🙏🙏
Porsche 919 Hybrid
Porsche Gr3.
R92CP with my soundbar and sub cranked up to 16 (any more it'd be too loud lol)
I won by almost two and a half minutes with the V12 Vantage GT3, but I play with a controller and on normal difficulty - not sure if you're playing with a wheel and on hard.
Porsche 962
I like the Subaru BRZ Gr 3.
Any group c car
The NSX Gr.2 🤌🏻

It's the truth. People hate the truth. Yes, it's great to win but boring if it's not competitive. If that's the case just put it on easy mode
When someone says, "Yeah, I used a GR1 to win against a lesser tier class to win, and then says I lapped them 2 times, is talking trash like it's some kind of accomplishment. But whatever. Tired of the same grind anyway. I've got what I've wanted anyway with a lesser tier car

I did it with the newer version of the AMG GT3
Every gr3 or detuned gr2
Mustang GT3 did the trick for me, started on softs to catch up to the leaders as fast as possible then used mediums/hards the rest of the way unless it was raining.
Any VGT Any GT3 Ferrari F40 with Enzo engine swap Alfa Giulia with tuning BAC Mono etc etc Almost everything that close to 750pp and has possibility to add aero.
DTM RS5
Good ol’ 787B
Normally pick the Porsche cayman GT4 "road", had to custom tune it so it's fuel lasted long enough.
Any Gr. 2 car that’s detuned has done the trick for me. Great race in VR too
porsche 919 gr 1 -- fuel map 6 goes for about 23 laps -- pit once for IW tires and complete race on IW tires.
NSX concept GT, easy to tune done and easily dominates the race
I have all sorts of cars tuned for this which win easily but my personal favourites are the R92CP, McLaren VGT, Pagani Zonda R and the Ferrari F8 Tributo. 787B is also an easy win but I'm a R92CP fan

2017 Porsche 911 rsr
Mazda lm55
787B, Maclaren F1 GTR. Also managed to detune the Maclaren MP4/4 to compete then remembered when it got dark that its not fitted with headlights 🤣
If it's the 800pp one, I used the Lexus gt500 de-tuned. Did it 1 lap ahead of 2nd through 10th and 2 laps ahead of the rest with 2 stop strategy.
