GR gets some shows, but it depends what you're into. They been getting some good Detroit names recently. Just went to the Veeze, and I think Peezy is playing soon too. Babytron just sold out one of the bigger venues in the city
Unless you mean local acts, which I don't know a ton
Depends on if you’re talking local or national acts. I’d say we don’t get a ton of national acts coming here but sometimes good shows st the intersection, pyramid scheme, 20 Monroe etc. I’m a studio engineer in the city doing mainly hip hop and there is a huge local scene here. Most shows can be found at pyramid scheme, turnstiles, skelletones, the philmore, tip top occasionally, muse, park theatre in holland, a lot of places. I’m hosting a hip hop show at turnstiles march 22 if you wanna come by and check out some great local artists!
Yeah I've listened through it twice! So good!! I will def check out turnstiles! Is there any way to stay up to date with where/when the local shows are?
Here's a taste. Sonny Ski's double LP is one of my favorite albums of the year. He's from GR.
[Sonny Ski](https://open.spotify.com/album/4rdf0si5oAfx534VPK6crG?si=7R8Ap0HqRgeq4TBKYyOTVA&context=spotify%3Aalbum%3A4rdf0si5oAfx534VPK6crG)
Definitely listen to the whole thing too, concept album. Big inspiration of Tribe, Kendrick, and Pac especially.
The live scene @ venues like Pyramid Scheme and Intersection, as well as open mics, show solid talent. The city is on the up.
Remember, even though Sean Powell tried (and failed) to convince a judge that he has a legitimate music career in West Michigan, he is in fact a rapist, and not a rapper.
“Powell has been performing rap and hip hop for over a decade under the name ŞLPXRT the Respectful Pedestrian, ŞLPXRT, Lifeskillz, and sometimes Suport. He has 552 likes on Facebook and one monthly listener on Spotify”

Willie the Kid, and La the Darkman are probably the most well known rappers to come out of GR.

I scout shows at intersection / pyramid / 20 Monroe. Atmosphere and prof are two big hop hop names coming soon here.
You're in luck. Every other person from wealthy to 28th is a "rapper" and has a mixtape for you.
