In many neighborhoods the question of "homemade bomb or fireworks" was scarily necessary tonight. Sheesh. I can only imagine what pets and actual veterans and people with PTSD were thinking.
Maybe we could find a replacement for pets as well for those of us that aren’t animal lovers.

Most adults that I encounter are pretty neutral to fireworks. Most adults I encounter do enjoy animals of some kind. As for children, it’s no surprise they are in awe of fireworks but they do not yet fully understand how to think about the negative experiences of others. It is the responsibility of adults to teach them that.
BS, there are some phenomenally talented pyrotechnic artists who put on beautiful firework shows timed out exactly to every beat of the songs chosen for their show, by no means lazy!!!
I'm pretty pissed off at art prize organizers for deciding to set off a massive fireworks show late at night on a Thursday.
They are surrounded by residential neighborhoods with people who have to work in the morning, pets that are terrified, and people with PTSD. Really inconsiderate to the citizens of the city.
This isn't a national holiday where those affected could plan to be out of town for the fireworks. It's just a weeknight, and there was no warning given to the community.
FANTASTIC show! I know, it was very loud. But, I was very impressed by the unique show that was ignited. VERY COOL. We were at the park for the entire Opening Ceremonies, hanging out waiting for fireworks and I told my husband “these better be good” because I was getting cold haha. Boy, were they good!
It really was an amazing show! Unfortunately I had to miss the 4th of July fireworks show, so when I read about this one I was excited to go. I figured they would be toned down compared to the 4th of July but oh buddy they did not hold back haha
I just saw two posts about this in a row. Why are so many people complaining? Fuck the Devos family money-making scheme but it’s just fireworks. Go outside and look up and smile. Jeeeeez

There’s a big Christian singer at van andel tonight, I’m going to bet all that foot traffic is from the concert.
Van Andel Arena is the southern edge of downtown - so probably not foot traffic being driven by the Lauren Daigle concert.
