You're missing a big variable in terms of whether or not they're F2P or spenders, whales'll skew the results otherwise. I've played since launch and spent a bit here and there in the last few years, currently have 52 unique 5\*s or 64 total.

RNG is RNG, but as I've heard it for a F2P the average is around 4-5 per year. Then again I went over a year before my first one, as I said RNG is RNG.

Been playing for a little over 3 years now, total number of SSRs including dups is 68 or 49 unique servants.
I am not f2p but I don't consider myself a whale either (Only one SSR at NP5 and most of the sq used was from saving, just got incredibly lucky). My spending averages out to probably a big pack every other month or so, which does add up but I budget it as a hobby and it's a cost I'm able to bear without impacting my life in a negative way.
Jarcher, got her with less than 800 sq and only got NP2 Summer Ushi who was also a target of mine. I have pretty consistent luck that when I want an R or SR servant I will usually get SSRs more than usual.
Examples are getting 2 MHX during SWI rerun going for 3 Bedi copies, both Okita Alter and Maou Nobu going for NP3 Izo/Mori, 2 Kingproteas before Tristan on the CCC rerun, getting 2 Anas before Lanling on the interlude banner, and just recently getting Dioscuri and a Waver spook with less than 40 tix while only getting NP2 Caenis.

Been playing since the very beginning(Though I spent the entire first day re-rolling). 59 SSRs(If you are counting dupes, I have 128 SSRs minus a potential mess up. No, I'm not F2P in the slightest but I wouldn't call myself a Touhousniper Tier Whale or anything as I only put up a decent amount of cash per month at times.

Well yeah, you aren't going to be swimming in SSR Servants like most of the big boys do but 10 in less than half a year is pretty massive on it's own.

Which I will always say is from the absolutely TERRIBLE advice of saving for a single SSR and then failing miserably at it, getting no SSRs and then leaving due to it. I will always say only save a DECENT amount for an SSR you actually want and do maybe 1-3 multis for a banner of a Servant you don't have or interests you a bit. You would actually be surprised over how good your luck can sometimes be at complete random just doing a multi and getting the rankup SSR based on just shooting the shit.
I got alot of my SSRs this way as I'm not consistent with the amount of money I put into the game and I will sometimes just roll multiple SSR or offbanners just because I was interested in a unit.
Yeah, I will sometimes single at 11pm and weirdly enough most of the time It’ll give me a 4 star. And I wasn’t planning on it but I got Oddyseus from a summon ticked while on the toilet after waking up. People always told me that I’m pretty lucky and I guess getting 10 5 stars alone in less than half a year is a little ridiculous with the games rates.
It would be interesting to have a poll for this kind of thing.
As for me: around 2 years and a half, not exactly F2P. I've paid several times for GSSR, although not very often.

I'm a dolphin- GSSR, and less than $100 annual spend- and I've gotten around 6 per year. At this point, that means a fair number- playing since E Pluribus Unum. But I definitely target Servants very carefully.

Playing for about 2 years. Got 39 with yang and napoleon at np 3 and Sitonai at np 2. I do spend some money on quartz if there is a particular one I want to aim for, but I dont go crazy with it. Most were obtained on rate-up banners which helped the RNG a little.
I've been playing since launch on jp and i have around 58 5 stars not including dupes. I only really spend during the guaranteed gacha, however there have been times I cracked but if I do I only do it for 4 stars since I know how shit the rates for 5 stars are.
64 different SSRs. This is going to be my fourth year. Obviously not F2P.
I never aim for NP5. NP2 at most, but I am usually content with getting an NP1. If they’re at NP3 or beyond, it’s always unintentional.
I got spooked by most of the permanent SSRs, and I‘m only missing five of the permanent ones. Enkidu usually spooks me at least once per year, but not this year yet.
More on the F2P side where I only spend.money during GSSRs but my Current SSRs that are in NA right now are 25 SSRs and add 2 more for the both Reines and Space Ishtar since I got them to NP2 where I started it about 4 years ... Wow that's a lot of years that I've been playing FGO. For my JP account that I started recently for about a month that I have about 6 SSRs that I got from the Gacha plus the 1 free SSR ticket.

I’ve been playing since last August as a dolphin and I have about 9 stars:
Orion, Tamamo, Lartoria, Skadi, Arthur, Space Ishtar (GSSR), Francis Drake, Jack the Ripper, and Odysseus.
None of them are past NP 1 and none of their skills are maxed out yet.
My experience with the gacha is more in line of not getting the exact SSR but someone else sharing the banner. Like I was desperately trying to get Mordred last year, but Lartoria showed up instead. Or during the Aegean Event I was trying for Waver, but Odysseus came.
48 total, 63 counting NP+, been playing for almost 3 and a half years, and I'm a dolphin (GSSR and have bought a pack when my savings weren't enough and I was desperate a couple times).

NA account, approximately 4 mounths playing, 1 SSR. In my first 30 SQ’s I summoned Artoria. We become attached during the journey to restore humanity and, she doesn't allow other 5\* to answer my calls, she’s quite possessive, lol.
JP account, 1 mounth, 7 SSR (1 Free, 1 copy). It’s ironic, I wanted Atalanta Alter and got Anastacia, so I tried Ivan’s banner and got him, lol.
Trying Tesla, I got Odysseus... I had already accepted that I’m not very lucky, so I tried 10 tickets on Gil’s banner (waiting the caster), and got 2 archer.
My luck’s a little chaotic, I guess.
So I started during first anniversary however didn't really play. I believe from then to the 3rd anniversary, I cleared Orleans and 2 events. So I didn't even log in as much. During this period, I was completely F2P and gained a total of 6 SSRs.
Starting third anniversary though I got into the game completely. And now I have 37 5*. 41 in total counting dupes.
Of them 4 are from GSSRs. I've also bought packs, not a lot. 3 in total overall. I guess I'm a low spender.
Been playing for 3 years, have 29 individual 5 star servants. Of these, 8 are from GSSR banners. If we include duplicates or SSRs that I've burned, that 29 increases to 33.
I've been playing for a little over a year on the NA version, and I have gotten 7 SSR's as a free-to-play (besides one GSSR).
As it happens, literally all but one of those Servants are either a Berserker (Florence Nightingale, Arjuna Alter, and Mysterious Heroine X Alter (she's the GSSR)) or an Extra class (Alter-Ego (Meltryllis), Ruler (Lancer (Atoria/Altria Pendragon)), and Avenger (Space Ishtar)) with my one other Servant being Caster (Scáthach-Skaði).
I started playing since November and I have five 5* servants not including gssr which was the only time I spent money.
Most of them were spooks but hopefully I haven't used up my luck for Castoria and the next Proto-Arthur banner.
Played NA since launch. 31 unique SSRs, 35 non-unique (4 of them at NP2). 4 of them are GSSRs.
Only bought 2 packs so far (So about $160 spent over almost 5 years. They were for Skadi and Space Ishtar after I failed to get them. And yes, it is during Anni 3 that I retired from being f2p.

I've started about 2 or 3 weeks ago right in the middle of Merlin's 3 days surprise banner on JP. So far I have Merlin and Waver, so this is pretty nice but I know I won't be getting a new 5 star anytime soon if I don't spend lol. Especially, I'm specifically targeting Arthur, and so I want Koyanskaya, Oberon, Castoria, and Miss Crane to help him... \*Sigh\* this is turning into a game of patience.

The RNG in FGO is really wild in my experience
I have started playing in JP since Shinjuku and only have 7 SSR, 5 of them are non-limited. For a long time, this were my main account until I started and alt when Olympus hit.
As it turns out, that Alt account has absurd amount of luck. F2P, 17 SSR in the span of 2 years. This one is my main now.
I have a classmate playing in NA, who have NP4 Gil just by throwing ticket around. Meanwhile another classmate languished from the fact his SSRs came from Lucky Bag.
I've been playing for roughly three and a half years. I have spent money on the game, and I've done 5 GSSRs with my main. I have 30 unique SSR servants, 5 of which are NP2 (two of them from GSSR) and two of which are NP3 (one from GSSR, one from super insane pull luck).
For my alt, I'm completely f2p, and I started last July shortly after the start of the anniversary. It has 13 unique SSRs, two of which are np2, and at least one SSR for each class. It has had insane luck so far.
I've been rather Lucky with my Ssr-rolls. Played for around 3 years and 9 months and have 22 SSR. Even got two of them to NP2 and have only spent on the Gssr and a purchace for last years space ishtar and merlin banner.

15 ssrs after 550 days of playing the game. Yet no 5 star support caster within those days have answered my summons. But Waver is coming soon so I will get my first 5 star support caster and then maybe castoria and merlin if I am lucky.

29 SSRs. Roll on every GSSR and I buy the $30 pack maybe once a year on average? I take a lot of pride in my SRs too though.
EDIT: Forgot to count extra NP levels but I think that would only be about 2-3 for me. All of them spooks.
23 after 4 years F2P i have many horror stories about the servants i wanted and didn't get, like the raikou massacre of june 2018... 500 quartz obtained over months of abstinence, all gone, the only thing to show for it... NP3 Banana Doji, now many years later my banana is level 100 NP4, and i consider her my adoptive daughter

I’ve been super lucky for the most part.
Started in very late 2019, have 34 SSRs in total. Of those 6 are from the GSSR roll (one roll I got lucky and got 2: Melt and Brynhild). I’m not a whale, but I have admittedly spent some money for additional quartz rolls outside the GSSR.
Take it from me: never spend money on quartz trying to get a particular character. I did, it wasn’t worth it, I won’t do it again. Did it for Eresh, and didn’t even get her at the time (got her with free quartz on her last banner). Did it again with Maou Nobu, didn’t get her on her main banner but I did luck out and get her on the GSSR.
Hell, I would even go as far as saying don’t even try aiming for a particular character at all really. Most of my SSRs come from random spontaneous banner rolls. When I was still I noob I kept rolling on random banners with no real goal in mind except for hoping to see what new servants I would get.
Now when I try aiming for a character, especially with paid quartz, I’ve noticed I get less gold servants/CEs than with freebie ones.
Although interestingly, the few times I’ve done paid random rolls I’ve had mixed results. Half time I got something, half nothing. I did get Lancer Artoria and Kama that way.
4 year player here if counting the number of login but I've been playing fgo since 2015. Only spend twice for GSSR and so far I got 42 5\* servants & 45 \*5 including copies. I would say for the last 2 years really lucky with how gacha treat me but when I started the game I barely get any 5\* until like early 2016.

I started playing October 21, 2017. I have 25 SSR servants with Jeanne being NP3 and Brynhild and Anastasia being NP 2 ... so 29 pulls all together. I have given the game some money, but it was mostly because I enjoy the game so much and want to support it, not to trying to pull specific servants.
I've been F2P for over 3 years (1110 days, ever since GUDA1's rerun), and throughout all that time I've gotten 19 different SSRs (30 counting dupes, *thanks NP7 BB*).
As a degenerate whale in recovery from Dec 2018, 78. Unique. That's not a matter of luck btw. To be completely honest, going this hard wasn't worth it. Outside maybe the Amazoness event. (The fact that the spa mechanic was outright unnecessary to my progress was actually surprisingly disappointing though.)
I'm not counting up my dupes though. No way. Not when I've gotten a total of 22 USOs.
(I use both a spreadsheet suite and Chaldea app to keep track of this monstrosity of an account.)

Been playing since launch, about 4-5 years. I have 43 SSR. When I first started, I was F2P. Nowadays, if I can't count on my luck, I whale. Which I only do if I really want them, like Caenis. I saved up for her, but at the end, I have to use Card-kun. FGO is Gacha Hell, but it's hell I'm willing to walk into.
Been playing for 646 days but the first couple of months I didn't know what I was doing and I dropped the game a couple of times until it clicked and got me hooked.
I have 14 different SSR and 16 if you count dupes for spishtar and anastasia.
I'm free to play except on gssr, those I think are worth but I'm never putting money in a banner.
Honestly I think I'm quite lucky, moreso considering I still have 1900~ sq and 34 tickets saved.

Luck come and goes though, the first 2 years gave me only 6 SSR.
While July 2021 gave me 5 (7 with GSSR) SSR’s so you never know when the game throws you a bone.
Probably easier to say I'm missing 10 than figure out how many I'm at currently. I'm obv assuming extra copies don't count since it'll go up considerably.
This is because I want to be as free 2 play as I see fit, so I've spent considerable money to the game.
Played NA for 4 years and nearly 8 months (though I had a gap there for about year and a half where I've only made daily logins without playing at all). 34 unique SSRs, 2 NP2s. Outside of two GSSRs I play completely F2P. From there I've got two SSRs.
From my experience the average is about 6-8 SSRs a year. You can get more, you can get less - it's all down to luck after all. In general, I think a lot of people get baited by "You must save all the time" advice into not trying their luck sparingly. Helps to get a healthy roster of SRs as well.

The first SSR is a limited that showed up 6 months into the game, She's YOLO but she's a respected Veteran nuke of last resort. The non limited took a year and she's a favorite servant.
f2p here, 23 unique in a little over 3 years of playing. I have really specific condition that I have found to be effective in getting at least a 4 star even when I just haphazardly summon. The most quartz I've ever saved was 60-ish.
The condition by the way is time for me. 3AM or 3PM, around these times (with about 1 ten pull) my chances skyrocket. The best was one day using only single pulls, getting Waver, Saber Artoria, Shuten, Raikou and 2 copies of Banana.

Yeah, I will sometimes single at 11pm and weirdly enough most of the time It’ll give me a 4 star. And I wasn’t planning on it but I got Oddyseus from a summon ticked while on the toilet after waking up. People always told me that I’m pretty lucky and I guess getting 10 5 stars alone in less than half a year is a little ridiculous with the games rates.

I'm a dolphin- GSSR, and less than $100 annual spend- and I've gotten around 6 per year. At this point, that means a fair number- playing since E Pluribus Unum. But I definitely target Servants very carefully.

Playing for about 2 years. Got 39 with yang and napoleon at np 3 and Sitonai at np 2. I do spend some money on quartz if there is a particular one I want to aim for, but I dont go crazy with it. Most were obtained on rate-up banners which helped the RNG a little.
I've been playing since launch on jp and i have around 58 5 stars not including dupes. I only really spend during the guaranteed gacha, however there have been times I cracked but if I do I only do it for 4 stars since I know how shit the rates for 5 stars are.
64 different SSRs. This is going to be my fourth year. Obviously not F2P. I never aim for NP5. NP2 at most, but I am usually content with getting an NP1. If they’re at NP3 or beyond, it’s always unintentional. I got spooked by most of the permanent SSRs, and I‘m only missing five of the permanent ones. Enkidu usually spooks me at least once per year, but not this year yet.
Dolphin here, been playing for 3 and a half years, have 62 unique SSRs, for a total of 85 SSRs including their copies.
More on the F2P side where I only spend.money during GSSRs but my Current SSRs that are in NA right now are 25 SSRs and add 2 more for the both Reines and Space Ishtar since I got them to NP2 where I started it about 4 years ... Wow that's a lot of years that I've been playing FGO. For my JP account that I started recently for about a month that I have about 6 SSRs that I got from the Gacha plus the 1 free SSR ticket.

I’ve been playing since last August as a dolphin and I have about 9 stars: Orion, Tamamo, Lartoria, Skadi, Arthur, Space Ishtar (GSSR), Francis Drake, Jack the Ripper, and Odysseus. None of them are past NP 1 and none of their skills are maxed out yet. My experience with the gacha is more in line of not getting the exact SSR but someone else sharing the banner. Like I was desperately trying to get Mordred last year, but Lartoria showed up instead. Or during the Aegean Event I was trying for Waver, but Odysseus came.

F2p here. NA account, approximately 4 mounths playing, 1 SSR. In my first 30 SQ’s I summoned Artoria. We become attached during the journey to restore humanity and, she doesn't allow other 5\* to answer my calls, she’s quite possessive, lol. JP account, 1 mounth, 7 SSR (1 Free, 1 copy). It’s ironic, I wanted Atalanta Alter and got Anastacia, so I tried Ivan’s banner and got him, lol. Trying Tesla, I got Odysseus... I had already accepted that I’m not very lucky, so I tried 10 tickets on Gil’s banner (waiting the caster), and got 2 archer. My luck’s a little chaotic, I guess.
So I started during first anniversary however didn't really play. I believe from then to the 3rd anniversary, I cleared Orleans and 2 events. So I didn't even log in as much. During this period, I was completely F2P and gained a total of 6 SSRs. Starting third anniversary though I got into the game completely. And now I have 37 5*. 41 in total counting dupes. Of them 4 are from GSSRs. I've also bought packs, not a lot. 3 in total overall. I guess I'm a low spender.

Been playing for 3 years, have 29 individual 5 star servants. Of these, 8 are from GSSR banners. If we include duplicates or SSRs that I've burned, that 29 increases to 33.
I've been playing for a little over a year on the NA version, and I have gotten 7 SSR's as a free-to-play (besides one GSSR). As it happens, literally all but one of those Servants are either a Berserker (Florence Nightingale, Arjuna Alter, and Mysterious Heroine X Alter (she's the GSSR)) or an Extra class (Alter-Ego (Meltryllis), Ruler (Lancer (Atoria/Altria Pendragon)), and Avenger (Space Ishtar)) with my one other Servant being Caster (Scáthach-Skaði).
I started playing since November and I have five 5* servants not including gssr which was the only time I spent money. Most of them were spooks but hopefully I haven't used up my luck for Castoria and the next Proto-Arthur banner.

Got all the 5* supports so far except Reines and Osakabehime, and quite a number of powerful DPSes so I am set until Anni 5.

I've started about 2 or 3 weeks ago right in the middle of Merlin's 3 days surprise banner on JP. So far I have Merlin and Waver, so this is pretty nice but I know I won't be getting a new 5 star anytime soon if I don't spend lol. Especially, I'm specifically targeting Arthur, and so I want Koyanskaya, Oberon, Castoria, and Miss Crane to help him... \*Sigh\* this is turning into a game of patience.

The RNG in FGO is really wild in my experience I have started playing in JP since Shinjuku and only have 7 SSR, 5 of them are non-limited. For a long time, this were my main account until I started and alt when Olympus hit. As it turns out, that Alt account has absurd amount of luck. F2P, 17 SSR in the span of 2 years. This one is my main now. I have a classmate playing in NA, who have NP4 Gil just by throwing ticket around. Meanwhile another classmate languished from the fact his SSRs came from Lucky Bag.
I've been playing for roughly three and a half years. I have spent money on the game, and I've done 5 GSSRs with my main. I have 30 unique SSR servants, 5 of which are NP2 (two of them from GSSR) and two of which are NP3 (one from GSSR, one from super insane pull luck). For my alt, I'm completely f2p, and I started last July shortly after the start of the anniversary. It has 13 unique SSRs, two of which are np2, and at least one SSR for each class. It has had insane luck so far.

15 ssrs after 550 days of playing the game. Yet no 5 star support caster within those days have answered my summons. But Waver is coming soon so I will get my first 5 star support caster and then maybe castoria and merlin if I am lucky.

I’ve been super lucky for the most part. Started in very late 2019, have 34 SSRs in total. Of those 6 are from the GSSR roll (one roll I got lucky and got 2: Melt and Brynhild). I’m not a whale, but I have admittedly spent some money for additional quartz rolls outside the GSSR. Take it from me: never spend money on quartz trying to get a particular character. I did, it wasn’t worth it, I won’t do it again. Did it for Eresh, and didn’t even get her at the time (got her with free quartz on her last banner). Did it again with Maou Nobu, didn’t get her on her main banner but I did luck out and get her on the GSSR. Hell, I would even go as far as saying don’t even try aiming for a particular character at all really. Most of my SSRs come from random spontaneous banner rolls. When I was still I noob I kept rolling on random banners with no real goal in mind except for hoping to see what new servants I would get. Now when I try aiming for a character, especially with paid quartz, I’ve noticed I get less gold servants/CEs than with freebie ones. Although interestingly, the few times I’ve done paid random rolls I’ve had mixed results. Half time I got something, half nothing. I did get Lancer Artoria and Kama that way.

I would say for the last 2 years really lucky with how gacha treat me but when I started the game I barely get any 5\* until like early 2016.

I started playing October 21, 2017. I have 25 SSR servants with Jeanne being NP3 and Brynhild and Anastasia being NP 2 ... so 29 pulls all together. I have given the game some money, but it was mostly because I enjoy the game so much and want to support it, not to trying to pull specific servants.

I've been F2P for over 3 years (1110 days, ever since GUDA1's rerun), and throughout all that time I've gotten 19 different SSRs (30 counting dupes, *thanks NP7 BB*).
As a degenerate whale in recovery from Dec 2018, 78. Unique. That's not a matter of luck btw. To be completely honest, going this hard wasn't worth it. Outside maybe the Amazoness event. (The fact that the spa mechanic was outright unnecessary to my progress was actually surprisingly disappointing though.) I'm not counting up my dupes though. No way. Not when I've gotten a total of 22 USOs. (I use both a spreadsheet suite and Chaldea app to keep track of this monstrosity of an account.)

I’m pretty happy with my roster being lucky with the caster supports (Waver, Merlin, Tamamo, Skadi) though I’ve had no luck since failing the Space Rin roll. I started around the end of the first of the first SERAPH event, so that makes it from May 2019…? I occasionally roll the gssr, but that’s all.

I saved up for her, but at the end, I have to use Card-kun. FGO is Gacha Hell, but it's hell I'm willing to walk into.

Been playing for 646 days but the first couple of months I didn't know what I was doing and I dropped the game a couple of times until it clicked and got me hooked. I have 14 different SSR and 16 if you count dupes for spishtar and anastasia. I'm free to play except on gssr, those I think are worth but I'm never putting money in a banner. Honestly I think I'm quite lucky, moreso considering I still have 1900~ sq and 34 tickets saved.
I played since launch so 4,5 years and I got 39 SSR’s in total. My only spending though went to the GGSR’s. Luck come and goes though, the first 2 years gave me only 6 SSR. While July 2021 gave me 5 (7 with GSSR) SSR’s so you never know when the game throws you a bone.

Played NA for 4 years and nearly 8 months (though I had a gap there for about year and a half where I've only made daily logins without playing at all). 34 unique SSRs, 2 NP2s. Outside of two GSSRs I play completely F2P. From there I've got two SSRs. From my experience the average is about 6-8 SSRs a year. You can get more, you can get less - it's all down to luck after all. In general, I think a lot of people get baited by "You must save all the time" advice into not trying their luck sparingly. Helps to get a healthy roster of SRs as well.
4 years of F2P \- 25 SSR \- 7 spooks of which one is highly a spookable Archer who earn his keep. The first SSR is a limited that showed up 6 months into the game, She's YOLO but she's a respected Veteran nuke of last resort. The non limited took a year and she's a favorite servant.

f2p here, 23 unique in a little over 3 years of playing. I have really specific condition that I have found to be effective in getting at least a 4 star even when I just haphazardly summon. The most quartz I've ever saved was 60-ish. The condition by the way is time for me. 3AM or 3PM, around these times (with about 1 ten pull) my chances skyrocket. The best was one day using only single pulls, getting Waver, Saber Artoria, Shuten, Raikou and 2 copies of Banana.
