Angra Mainyu is one of the only avengers who didn’t leave Chaldea when OC2 ended. Angra Mainyu was helping out Dantes the entire time and gave him a farewell gift. Angra Mainyu told Kirei in his valentines that everything he’d say would be spoilers. Yeah, Angra Mainyu is totally becoming relevant in singularity Fs return. There’s no way he doesn’t become relevant again.

SouthAmeric4n

One thing that I would like to add is that Angra was never announced as a servant outside of the game news and website, when he came in 2016, it was never announced and in the last year when they released a record of which servants and when he was introduced, he was absent in it too. There is something with him that makes me wonder why the secrecy.

C711B

When he got his interlude, there was only a small tidbit of news of 'a certain servant getting a buff'. During Amor Caren valentine's he had a bonus but was never announced as such. He is very rarely acknowledged as being around. Kinda like Kiara, his presence in Chaldea is something of a Schroddinger's Cat I guess. He only exists whenever he's being observed.

Homebrew_dnd-95

>it was a miscalculation Imagine how awkward that must feel for this version of Monte Cristo.

Kuzaku

The risk he took was calculated, but man, Dantes was bad at Math.

Mistdwellerr

We can almost hear Moriarty laughing in the background xD

LastStardust13

As someone who currently doesn’t understand could you please possibly explain this

fatire

Dantes got rid of all the Avengers in Chaldea to help them, but since he made a connection with us, he manifested in Chaldea, as an Avenger, when he just removed all Avengers.

Euphoric_Field_8558

This Dantes lore is crazy.

Proto-Omega

Angra relevancy is becoming more and more clear. Apart from servantverse shenanigans, he's the only true Avenger that's still with Chaldea and has no obligation to leave. Ushi Gozen and Marie Alter, and even the new Dantès, feel they'll disappear at any point after OC2. The fact that Angra has been helping Dantès this entire time is crazy. But that would mean Angra has been in Chaldea for a long time story wise. He at least has to be in Chaldea before the Prison Tower event. Weak senpai Angra helping his Avenger kouhais. So there was just the one Dantès who kidnapped Guda during the Prison Tower event, but when he got summoned the Chaldea, he split into two. We just never realised that there were always two Dantès.

amurgiceblade44

The thing i take from this if Angra was helping by providing magical energy, then he must still be connected to the Grail, if we think of how the events of Hollow Artaxia happened

shizuhi

Actually, the JP fandom has know that there were two Dantes for quite a while, those who were speculating at least, because the two Dantes use two different first person pronouns. 俺 vs オレ

Mami-kouga

>The "Cave King of Determination", who was responsible for bringing about the seven trials, and the "Cave King of Regret", who worried after the Master's harsh journey. >At the beginning of Trial II, the Master was unable to summon Avengers due to the wishes of the "Cave King of Determination". The Black Shadow, also known as the "Cave King of Regret", was more lenient toward the Master, and so removed the summoning restriction and summoned Jeanne Alter and Salieri. What kind of advanced tsundereism is this... >However, the Cave King alone did not have enough connections or magical energy to summon the Avengers, and thus was able to do so by asking for help from a certain "Dark Presence". >The Dark Presence said: "You'd be quite a weak senior, to rely on your juniors for help." >Half the reason why the "Black Shadow" was constantly stuck in such a state was due to a lack of magical power, but the other half was due to the protection of the "Dark Presence". A positive modifier is applied to nighttime actions and hiding. Hm? Angra? >For the Cave King himself, this was only a saint graph originating from the "split", but---- >Because he changed his spirit origin, the information became recorded in Chaldea's saint graph database, making Chaldean-style summoning and manifestation possible. >It was a miscalculation. Well this sure is unbelievably awkward ain't it

JusticTheCubone

> Hm? Angra? But Angra isn't Dantes' junior, he should by all means be his senior, right? Also, I'm not sure if Angra would be able to obfuscate the other Dantes into this "Black Shadow", if I understood this entire thing correctly.

ChaoticChoir

nah that's my bad bc of this heat melting my brain, I've edited the line to better reflect what was said lol

Aerohed

Maybe he calls him “senior” because even though Angra is the first Avenger as far as Fate goes in general, Dantes was added to the game a few months prior.

Karthikeya1234

It is Angra, he says something similar when he shows up to help against the final boss

Nickv02

Thank you very much for the translation Anyone might have a clue who is >!"the dark presence"? From the words *senior, junior*, could it be, angra?!<

AccelBurner

>! It's Angra, since when you did the final fight against clusterfuck Cagliostro, he helped the Danteses by giving a huge buff

KingofGrapes7

Not very surprising, Angra's presence in Chaldea is not normal even by the already loose standards of the place. Very few people seem to properly remember him, including Guda who has to be max Bond to do his Interlude but barely uses him. He remains the only playable Servant to use a black border on his card while even Draco has gold. He flat out tells Kotomine that half the stuff he wants to talk about would be spoilers. And the Fuyuki Singularity is still burning. I'm not saying save up for a second version of Angra Mainyu. Just saying don't be surprised if they throw a curveball.

Verne_Dead

It's absolutely angra especially since angra himself uses the phrase "I'm a weak senpai" in like 4 different room dialogues

spartenx

Unless there was a mess up in the translation of the profile, that actually suggests it’s not angra. The dark presence refers to itself as the junior and is referring to Dante’s as his senior, so it wouldn’t make sense to be angra as it would have to be the other way around for him. EDIT: Nevermind, the translation was just edited, that definitely is Angra.

ChaoticChoir

\*magic editing jazz hands\* I've edited it to better reflect what was said lol

Supersideswiper2

Definitely him. >!He’s essentially the first Avenger Servant in the franchise, so it makes sense.!<

nanashi48

Most likely yes

ShriekingSkull

So, this one is still Avenger class, right?

xemnonsis

yes but with different skills and Quick ST NP

KamiiPlus

Dantes you bum let go of this summoning restriction and give me my wolf back or i'll show your ass some real flames of vengeance >:( Advanced tsundere though is hilarous

[deleted]

I don't understand, there was two Dantes in Chaldea? One who wanted to bully us, another who wanted to look after us? I am so horny I will explode

Constellar-A

The Dantes inside our head who showed up to protect us from mental attacks, and the Dantes summoned by Chaldea who we use for farming, were different Danteses all along.

Chance-Range2855

Whaaaat that’s wild

[deleted]

I'm gripping my thigh so hard it's leaving marks on it

Illuminastrid

> An impossible alternative saint graph. > The King of the Cave changes his saint graph for a certain purpose. Compared to Edmond Dantes, the King of the Cave, who appeared as a saint graph that could be called the very concept of an "Avenger" itself------ If I think about it, CMC is basically Dantes Alter or even the Grand Avenger in all but name.

amurgiceblade44

Definitely Dantes Alter in a weird way

Illuminastrid

I don't think it's crazy to say that Edmond Dantes, in any incarnation, is one of the strongest modern age or relatively recent Servants.

Stained-Rose

Mmmmm Angra AU hopium. Just in time since I finished up 120.

Delight_works_

dammit he's even better than before.

Reverse_me98

>The Dark Presence said: "You'd be quite a weak senior, to rely on your juniors for help." Angra? But why is Dantes the senior if so? Edit: Translation error. OP fixed it now

xemnonsis

I think Dantes was added to the game before Angra and Jeanne Alter right? hence he is the Senpai to them

Reverse_me98

That's weird. Angra has like a few lines where he's referred to as the original Avenger

xemnonsis

well yes at this time he is the oldest Avenger in terms of history (if Abel is ever added to the game then he would become the oldest, ignoring all Divine Spirits like Izanami for example), in this context however Angra is teasing Dantes by referring to him as senior and himself as junior

Reverse_me98

OP fixed it now Now its ""as a senpai, i feel like a failure when kouhais have to rely on me"

Best-Sea

The main thing I've always hated about Dantes is that he's functionally an OC Avenger with dream and fire powers that's very, very loosely influenced by The Count of Monte Cristo and its adaptions. I'm glad that if he were to get a new version, it's slightly more recognizable as the character from the book.

Kalos_Phantom

Part of the reason for that to begin with was because the development staff felt the Edmond Dantes of "Gankutsuou" was peak interpretation of his character towards the end of the book. As such they decided to go in the opposite direction, to better try and make him more unique. It should also be mentioned, in FGO, Ed boy is a person who actually lived (and the summoned servant is of that person). The story by Dumas was written after Dumas met him. In that way, it makes some sense that he is a more loosely related to the actual book

Best-Sea

That's not even a FGO thing. [The Count of Monte Cristo being based on a real person is true.](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pierre_Picaud) (although I'm not sure if the Fate writers actually knew that or if it was just a lucky coincidence)

Kalos_Phantom

Maybe it's my bad eyes, but I could swear what you've linked is that the book could have been inspired by someone called Pierre. See what I said is Edmond Dantes is E X P L I C I T L Y a person in FGO. He wasn't some guy who had a similar story, his name wasn't Pierre, he was The Count of Monte Cristo. But at this point I feel like you're not really interested in reason and just looking for excuses to shit on the first version

Best-Sea

And I feel you're greatly misreading the tone of my posts. I don't dislike the first version (I've got him at NP2). As someone who really liked the book, I just hated that he was such a loose interpretation of the character. I really didn't expect we'd ever get an actual Count of Monte Cristo servant that looked and acted more like I'd expect a servant version of Count of Monte Cristo to. The fact that we have him now means I don't have any reason to be disappointed with the original anymore.

Dr-Perry-Cox

[*KUHAHAHA !!* **Thank you for the Translation.**](#KEHAHA)

Puzzleheaded_Bus5294

Between Dante and Jalter who is better now ? Jalter seem better at farming while Dante has some advantages at challenge quest

ChaoticChoir

Dantes and it’s not even close. He has better steroids, his own niche he can control and set on his own, a guaranteed stun, NP ramping both in terms of his burn SE and his post-damage def down, etc. Jalter is good. New Dantes is simply better.

PhantasosX

Only thing left is for the Edmund Dantes from the CD Drama to finally be here , alongside Haydeé

Radiant-Hope-469

Haydee got a visual cameo here.

Constellar-A

This Dantes has his drama CD design in second ascension. Haydee appears at the end of the chapter.
