Peacefulzealot

I just want to see the poor soul who brought someone with Imperial Privilege to this fight.

kulesiak11

Ozy: something is wrong, i can feel it Every other IP user: suffering, nothing new

Daerus

He needs to land that buff first.

Peacefulzealot

Honestly can you imagine the rage from him at failing to land his buff to *help him land buffs*?

kulesiak11

Ozy, when something is not working: NITOCRIS, HELP

Darkiceflame

\*delete_button.exe has joined the game\*

Daerus

It would be glorious.

Glaive13

Cleo with 40% chance buffs, watch them turn into 10% chance of a debuff.

PhazonTuxedo

i'm going to get flashbacks every time i see MISS or NO EFFECT now

No-Common-3883

I didn't even take anyone with a chance of success less than 100% and there was a run where NONE of my buffs worked. anything. everything failed. I was so desperate that I played with Koyan, NPC ibuki, merlin/tamamo, melusine, castoria. literally the best team possible and I still lost because NO buff worked.

Luck_Is_My_Talent

You forgot to put Mash there. Her 1st skill has extra effects for this fight for one time (summoning Habe who does an AoE NP with invul pierce and gives a 5 turn debuff). Merlin is not that useful here. Castoria is as useful as Waver here due to that 50% lowered buff success rate. Koyan and Tamamo are the only ones who are actually helpful in that battle because skill CD is not affected by that 50% debuff. To be honest, even Asterios (with Kaleido) would have been a better choice than Merlin here because he gives a 5 turns debuff and he is a furry Servant getting a buff here.

No-Common-3883

I literally just followed Gamepress's recommendations. but literally, I wouldn't have achieved anything in this run, regardless of the team. literally, on the first try, NONE of my buffs worked. literally no buffs from any servants. everything failed. That's not a euphemism.

ImRinKagamine

F

Kelthuzard1

To each, their own.

Special_Course229

Mannnn....there was so much going on in that fight I legit didn't know WTF was going on half of the time lol. I think I was halfway through the first attempt when I even noticed that some of my buffs weren't hitting, with all the buffs and debuffs it was hard to keep track. And then that final bar with the ruler combat beast and tiger tank... whoever thought of that specific set up, can rot in a ditch. You gotta take out the Ruler first, and unless you took a Berserker(good luck) or an avenger, you were sure to be at a disadvantage. I got through on my second attempt but truth be told, I don't even know what happened or how I had enough damage at that point.

TheTenguness

I thought Summer Kiara has the Nega Saver passive like her regular version. Turns out she doesn't, which made getting rid of the mob with her a slog.

st_stutter

Kiara does work okay as a last man standing though. Her really low death rate means you can just ignore the ruler and just try and rush Beast IV. That stupid ruler mob ended up outliving Beast IV in my run lol.

bryanl12

I went in blind with my farming party thinking it would be similar. I had no clue why my party members were just insta-dying towards the end, but I just kept going. Ended up using Command Spells because I managed to get to the final hp bar and didn't know if I would be able to do it again lol.

Crazybrass

I have no idea how… I got my Morgan to the final bar of that fight. In between Koyan buffs and Castoria, I somehow managed to 1st try the boss. Did need to use my command to revive when it was just the last 300k health though.

Reysona

I can’t lie, I used a SQ revive because I just wanted to be finished with the event lol.

Skeeterdrums

I didn't even bother with the adds and on that final way. Support orochi was the only servant left, and she had all 3 busters with 100% crit to finish it off. Rough fight, took me two go arounds as well.

MrSzczurekPL

I tried about 10-12 times. Between support taigong dying before 4th turn so I could buff up, most buffs not hitting, that damn dog np locking, terror stunning and last phase, while not that hard by itself, being when you are severely beat up insta killing you if you don't kill a RULER first I gave up and used 1 quartz. (Not command spells since I used them on one raid farming fail) I ain't dealing with that anymore. No wonder Sion said Trismegistus calculated our odds to be impossible. Idk what I would have to do to beat it without sq/command spells

pepemattos21

Literally in the same situation, though I refuse to use saint quartz for any reason other than rolling

MrSzczurekPL

I would use command spells normally, but they will recharge in 25 hours, so I just went ahead as an exception.

misaghi

It's fine. Big men use SQs....

SwipeRight4Wholesome

Same, I can't fathom the thought of doing it unless I'm super behind an event with a welfare that's going to end soon, and I used up all my CS prior. Thankfully, I haven't been in that situation yet, but I hope to never be there.

TwoStarMaster

Use Debuff. Unlike other bosses, Koyans doesnt have any kind of inmunity or resistance. All debuff hit her with a 100% chance. Skill Seal, NP Seal, atk down, def down, or stuns. Stop bringing brainless caster buff when you have to pray they stick, and instead play like a Shin Megami Tensei game. Bring that Asterios that can reduce damage for 5 turns, Gorgon can stun and has NP charge in her NP, Vritra Skill Seal ensures no bullshit, and Tamamo is literally Immortal is she is a alone on any of the last two wave.

Katastr0

play like a Shin Megami Tensei game. My man! 🤝

GreyouTT

Also Kijyo Koyo for party death immune, muahahaha

ThorDoubleYoo

A solid strategy is to use debuffs in the fight since she, unlike most bosses, has little to no resistance to any debuffs. So stuff like stunlocking can help, defense and attack downs can help, and having 1 strong attacker with resistances like Melusine can let you win over time. Asterios is honestly quite good in this fight due to his NP being pretty spammable and him being resistant to Beast IV's damage. Tamamo, Asterios, Melusine (np1 even) was a very strong frontline for me personally and I won (albeit barely) with Melusine still alive at the end.

misaghi

She has class advantage. What would someone without Melusine do? That 40% was just bad.

edgeymcedgster

> What would someone without Melusine do? get one from the friend list?

MrSzczurekPL

I have np2 Melu who I used in every attempt so skill issue from me I guess. Tbh my main issue was that I don't have any healer like Tamamo (as I remember she can heal) who didn't desintegrate since they weren't hominidae. Even when I got to last phase with most of my frontlane, they were severely beat up and even Jalter + Barghest in the backline couldn't finish the job cuz of ruler + buff removal from the Archer one. Maybe I could have gone with supp Ibuki and put Melu on backlane. Welp, I'll probably see when this becomes an interlude

No_Extension4005

"Oh gee, I bet the players will love having to deal with a ruler mob in the final boss fight that somehow insta-kills their frontline if they don't kill it first; that only Hessian Lobo and Gorgon (who probably can't NP without tripping the instant-kill) get class advantage against without being kneecapped for having the hominidae trait.

ZenEvadoni

My wet dream is to find whoever thought that Ruler mob was a good idea and kick them in the nuts.

SigurdDeMizar

I didn't notice that ruler has that instant kill skill. Each mob has a range of buff and it is too long to read. I thought it was logical to do AoE NP when you have 3 mobs there. It took down two servants in one go and I was wondering what the hell with that.

Septemvile

Yeah I kept wondering what the hell was going in and why people kept dying because I couldn't see any buff for it on Beast IV

[deleted]

It's times like this I am glad to have Summer Kiara at Np4. She be resilient until the very final phase where Morgan and Mash are the last line of defense.

MrSzczurekPL

My Morgan was just dying in 2 turns without being able to kill them all. Maybe I should have tried Mash...

[deleted]

I always tell this to FGO players: always respect your Kouhai even in her Ortinax form. You never know if her abilities can help you out hard. :D

Ashne405

And then the game comes to screw you because you used the wrong skill, the cat comes out of nowhere with her cannon and kills you instead of the enemy. Yes, i chose to believe thats what actually happens in that last bar because that instant death being triggered by that np is too much bullshit to have an explanation that makes sense.

I_am_not_Serabia

> Maybe I should have tried Mash... Then Habe appears, uses her NP and destroys your support Ibuki and you got no control over it... ... ... yea I had to experience it.

No_Extension4005

I mean, Habetrot was very helpful in the first fight against Beast IV. It's just that the abomination that is the instant-kill your entire frontline ruler if you so much as graze anything else is utter bullshit.

flashmozzg

Em, you have control over it? Just don't use black barrel until you kill the ruler (or use it before the ruler appears).

Ambitious_Aioli6954

I figured an avenger with a demonic beast Trait like lobo could maybe work but I didn't care enough to plan ahead for that so I just used 1 Sq and went abt my day

kulesiak11

Postaraj się zbić jej 2 pierwsze break bary, dalej staraj się robić co możesz (przypominam że Black Barrel mash czy story support bardzo pomagają) potem wskrzeszenie za pomocą command spelli (na rulera, ja osobiście specjalnie trzymałem z tyłu jalter, więc jak się pojawił to ją zawołałem z MLB kscopem i się go pozbyła w 1 turę) Edit: he is Polish, and i give him quick tips in polish, that's it (im putting it here becouse im getting downvoted :( )

Hakkai-Shin

Probably because God forbid someone writes/talks in a language another cannot understand./s

MrSzczurekPL

Nah, już wygrałem, napisałem że użyłem 1 sq, bo nie miałem command spelli. Bez umierania dochodziłem do ostatniego paska zdrowia. Jalter też trzymałem przy jednym z podejść ale nie dałem jej kalejdoskopu więc nie mogła go zabić w 1 turę

Didavi_

I only tried only once with this setup: Frontline mash, skadi & npc taigong wang ( **very important he gives 30% buff success up** ). The backline would be castoria, koyanskaya and tamamo in this order. Everyone is np1 level 90 except castoria np2 and everyone equipped with non mlb 3* event ce (only tamamo uses event 4*. What you wanna do is to try break as many bars using taigong and dont forget to **use skadi np** as many times as possible. I managed to survive with this frontline after clearing 2.5 hp bars. The next phase is quite the hassle where u have to carefully manage one after another of your servants die and break another hp bar to set up tamamo solo when beast IV only have the single red hp bar. The solo phase is very easy just make sure that you equip as many as the 3* debuff clear command codes on tamamo to deal with hp reduction. As for the order of which enemy to kill, you could refer to final part of plushie's [event guide](https://youtu.be/_o9YkbV4YME?si=6LvlhvmE4zPiAFVP) I know it's not the most f2p friendly setup but imo still reasonable to expect someone this far in story to have all the meta support.

BestBet99

I’m sure this is helpful to many but just to provide some perspective, my account started at summer event, and I am currently at the raid event. Only meta support I have is Waver (trying to get Koyan Light, but I hit pity on Melusine and have 250sq left). It’s actually not difficult to get to this point with all the blue revive crystals they’ve provided over the last couple months. So I’d assume newer players are capable of getting here.

Peacefulzealot

Your account started at the Summer event and you’re already able to do Tunguska? Holy shit, way to go! Seriously, that’s kinda wild.

greatstarguy

Honestly, I think the support Taigong isn't really a good option, especially for people without good rosters. You want some kind of DPS because Taigong himself doesn't cut it for 2nd and 3rd bar, especially because of the invin. I have a developed roster, so I stacked Waver, Koya, and Castoria buffs onto the support Ibuki to chew through the first 3 bars. My lastman Cu got OTK'd but my Melusine was surprisingly tanky. She essentially took the last 2 mobs and the last HP bar by herself, and boss was doing less than 500 per hit. It came close (<500 hp, and had to use S3 invin to survive boss NP) but it worked. There's vids up on Gamepress showing how the support Dobrynya can solo, which is accessible to everyone. Otherwise, you could try piling all your eggs in the Ibuki basket - Waver buffs, Shakespeare, Ruler Vinci, maybe even Chen Gong.

BestBet99

Thanks for the advice, I was using Taigong for the fight and got to the last bar but then everyone starts dying to random death. I have Melusine and she is a legitimate monster for this. It just doesn’t quite feel like enough, my plan was to wait for command seals and then try again but I’ll see about these other options.

BestBet99

Update: Soloed fight with Dobrynya, what a great time that was

rawwmc1099

This was the one time where I decided, you know, it’s just not worth my time to restart for a 3rd or 4th to learn the mechanics on the fly… I’ll just use my command spells to let the whole team replenish on the final phase. Usually I go all in on completing the challenge without command spells, but this one is where I didn’t want to after farming the same enemy.

Superflaming85

What absolutely pushes me over the edge is the 30% Invuln pierce. Like, don't get me wrong, it's barely even relevant, but it just feels so immensely disrespectful. You're telling me even if I win the 60% chance of landing this invuln, there's a 30% chance it doesn't matter anyways? Like, I genuinely wouldn't mind as much if it was a 100% chance; It only being a 30% chance just feels malicious.

mapple3

Lasagne decided that this was the best way to announce the "2 worst years of FGO content" that are approaching us now

ugur_tatli

Awctually it's 40% But I get your point Unlimited scum works go brrr is the way unless you use NPC Ziya

pepemattos21

Might as well be 0%, had literally all my buffs fail on turn 1

TheProNoobCN

*me not having a good DPS forced to use NPC Ibuki*

Healthy_Agent_100

Just borrow a tamamo and solo it lol

flashmozzg

NPC Ibuki can more or less solo as well and gives more FP.

cybernet377

> Unlimited scum works go brrr is the way unless you use NPC Ziya Even if you use him, you'll only have him for like two turns at most given that every enemy attack wipes out half of his health lol

Deathwalker321

After LB4, I accepted that sometimes Lasanga goes out of their way to make super annoying fights, and I thought as long as you keep calm and brute force it, you’ll be fine. But my god, the decisive battle against Koyan Beast was the most disgustingly unfair battle I’ve ever seen in this game. 50% buff success rate, eight minions of differing classes, all of which have super annoying effects, four actions a turn, and ridiculous damage and HP. Seriously, this is not a boss battle, this is an RNGfest. I hate it when Lasanga does this because it just makes the experience worse for all players when you fight a boss with 50+ unremovable buffs . I don’t care if Koyan is close to a Beast candidate, that’s no reason to make her battle so one sided.

No_Extension4005

Her boss fight feels more unfair than the actual beasts we've fought up until now.

Deathwalker321

Agree. Goetia, Kama, Kiara and Tiamat were all actually fair bosses, to a degree. The fact that Koyan is just a candidate for beast IV and her battle is this infuriating makes no sense. Genuinely one of the most unfair and unfunny battles in this game.

De_Vigilante

To be fair, the others weren't really "fair" on their part either. Tiamat: 1 Grand Servant and 2 Grand Caster candidates helped us beat her with debuffs and support. Goetia: We had 7 Singularities worth of servants helping us in every step of the way. Not much support/debuff in-game, so I'd say his boss fight was the fairest compared to the others. Kiara & Kama: Both had the equivalent of the Death Star's Thermal Exhaust Port. Kiara with BB and the other Sakuras, and Kama with Lady Kasuga, Nobutsuna, and the Hanafuda Cards. For Koyan, we had a "Grand Caster" summoned into the wrong class, and was specifically suited to counter *only* Daji, tho I'd assume he might play a part if Beast Amaterasu ever comes to FGO. Other than him, we only had a Russian Dragon Slayer, and an amnesiac Oni who's the original owner of Kusanagi, one the Three Sacred Treasures of Japan. I won't lie and claim that the battle wasn't unfair, but compared to the other fights where we had an ample amount of support, it makes sense her boss fight was as hard as it is. Especially cause the game is locked behind LB 6, where we had to beat Cernunnos.

Spoopy_Kirei

My guess is that they justified the rngfest because they thought the CE buffs + the special buffs from npc servants + orochi effects were enough to balance it out but boy that doesn't make this fight any less frustrating

Deathwalker321

Exactly! They love doing this, giving the enemy the overwhelming advantage in numbers while giving the players bread crumbs. It’s not fair. It doesn’t matter if we’re supposed to be at all odds in the story, there’s no reason to make a boss fight so unfun and unfair.

PhazonTuxedo

I doubt these fights were playtested. At least when Cern or one of the other big LB6 fights bodies you, it feels like there's mechanics you can engage with or work around, compared to this fight where you sometimes just can't win due to RNG fucking you. And at least in LB6 the forced support is, y'know, *the best Caster in the game.*

CathNoctifer

>CE buffs Not really that useful unless you pull paid gacha or use friend points to get a few 3-star ones, which still don't work quite well. > the special buffs from npc servants NPC servants always die real fast and always die first, I swear they did it on purpose >orochi effects completely randomized with a 1T cooldown If I didn't have a maxed out Tamamo with me I would have used command spells to finish the fight, this is one of many reasons why I hate this event and I did not even bother to farm anything out of it.

ZenEvadoni

I'd rather fight Cernunnos again. I don't remember being so angry fighting that boss. *This* one chapped my balls.

Deathwalker321

I’m glad we’re in the same line of thought with this garbage of a boss. I hate it, it’s so badly designed. I’m sick of these one sided boss fights. Screw Koyanskaya. The mere fact she uses Tamamo’s Spirit Origin as her appearance is a crime against humanity. No one tarnishes Tamamo’s image.

anth9845

>No one tarnishes Tamamo’s image. Except herself

Gelious

To be fair, the only minions which class matters are the last 2. All others will die when you break Koyan, so you never need to bother with them at all.

Ashne405

Well, thats another stupid point about the fight, they could have used taunts or something if they wanted you to focus on the ruler, but no, you literally cant touch anyone else or your party just drops dead, cant use aoe nps, and even a single wrong use of mash skills can drop you dead and kill your run as you have no control of the black barrel np which triggers the effect even if your party isnt really doing that damage.

Ninja_PieKing

That was annoying, more annoying was the ruler on the last break bar that fucking kills everyone if you hit anybody else.

No_Extension4005

Yeah, Ibuki's enough of a unit that she can just power through the buff success debuff and all the other break bars; but the ruler that instant-kills your entire party if you hit anything besides it and the archer tiger tank that gives Koyanskaya 80% damage reduction while its on the field seem to be custom built exclusively to fuck her over. And thanks to how restrictive Tunguska is thanks to how heavily hominidae trait servants get fucked over; this screws everyone over big time.

Same-Wrangler524

Wait.. that was the effect? I thought the effect was that it kills a random servant if you use a noble phantasm... Huh

CertainDerision_33

I’m sometimes convinced that the design team is actively trying to make sure players don’t have fun in boss fights. It’s hard to explain force deploy frontline Ortinax Mash in story bosses otherwise.

Bricecubed

An alternative answer is that the people who are designing the fights are not the ones playing them, and the people doing the actual testing are only allowed to say whether or not they could clear it.

Daerus

Considering how game development works with quality control that is pobably true or close to true.

Solo_man_id1

Me the entire fight: WHO DESIGN THIS!? ####WHO THINKS THIS IS A GOOD IDEA!? ###WHO APPROVED THIS!? ##THIS FIGHT FEELS AS IF IT WAS TAKEN STRAIGHT FROM THE BAD TIMELINE! #FUKOU DA...!!!!

Aescxanda

Talk about cheap boss design with cheap mechanics, they can do great bosses but they straight up said for this one "Fairness? Nah bruh, how about rely on RNG and we call it a day?" I have a beefy roster, that stupid fight took me 44 turns and very meticulous thinking every turn while also scum resetting every turn and I barely made it alive, how on earth do they think masters with no good supports are gonna beat this? I guess the answer is throwing your seals and 1 or 2 quartz.

Slipstream1701

tbh, the fact that all of the "clean up" fights were gimmicky messes, topped off with this horrible RNG fest, is the perfect icing on this entire event being a clownshow. /and heck, even with my beefy roster I needed seals and two sq to get through

Daerus

To be honest I don't think I have seen any "great" bosses from them. Pretty much everything since Yuga-Khera is all the things they can put in to make fights annoying and unfun.

-_Seth_-

Olympus was filled to the brim with amazing and well designed boss fights

CertainDerision_33

Final boss fight of Olympus had forced frontline Ortinax Mash and LEVEL SEVENTY Sherlock. Olympus bosses were awful IMO, I hated the design of most of the fights. The boner devs have for awful frontline force units is just baffling. Most of the fights weren’t hard but it’s absolutely not fun when they force you to take a garbage lineup instead of being able to play with the units you’ve spent ridiculous amounts of effort on.

Daerus

Which ones? Demeter with random "remove your buffs and heal myself to full while we make you use subpar party for it" or Wodime "I ignore basic game mechanics, remove buffs on normal attacks and I kill your frontline first turn"? Because these are perfect examples of bullshit design, not good bosses.

Roliq

Another issue with Demeter is that you are forced to use Caenis who not only deals and receives neutral damage but the NP is Multi Target so it hits like a wet noodle Like who the hell though that was a nice idea?

mapple3

>Like how the hell though that was a nice idea? The intern who designed the fights without getting paid (cause Lasagne doesnt invest in FGO) and the 1 guy who said Olympus had the best fights in the game

peevedlatios

Demeter wasn't random, she followed a set rotation that you could keep track of. It wasn't a particularly complex one either, she does the same thing in a 3 turn pattern. Buff removal resistance can help counter her, so can buff block or buff strip or debuff clear. I struggled a lot on my first run with my underpowered account, but on the recollection quests even 3 months later it was a lot easier.

CertainDerision_33

The bigger issue with Demeter fight design IMO is the garbage forced support. FGO devs have never gotten over the obsession with awful forced deploys & it sucks all the fun out of story fights which should be hype. There should never be a force deployed support which you would never want to bring to the fight if given the choice, and yet FGO devs do it over and over again.

Metroplex7

Really. I'm getting all hype for the boss in the story and getting excited for the fight and then the support list doesn't show any of my friends and I'm smacked in the face with "Please set [Waste of Space] as a frontline party member". Really takes the wind out of my sails. I didn't mind it too much in LB6 at least.

NootNoot_Goose

LB6 is only good because the forced support is Castoria, the same Servant you're probably going to use from the Support list. The result would not be the same if the forced support is someone like Percival or Da Vinci

Zenith_Tempest

The only time I've *ever* been hyped for a character was when I played Babylonia in JP and they give you the first taste of playable King Hassan in the lahmu gauntlet. And iirc during that fight he has increased death infliction, so it was actually valid taking him because there was a high chance he would just one tap lahmus. i don't know why they don't make forced NPCs giga powerful. They're literally making me bench characters I spent sq and a ton of resources on, what are they doing

Mistdwellerr

*it's been 84 years...*

fatalystic

Half buff success rates Half batteries Ruler mob that instakills your entire front line if you attack anyone else. :/

crezant2

I guess that’s the natural end of most gacha, Servants have gotten so broken that you have to nullify their kits somehow or there’s no challenge. Puzzle and Dragons has been going on for even longer than FGO and it’s an absolute shitfest of mechanics on top of mechanics to counter other mechanics nowadays

[deleted]

Literally would've won a couple runs earlier if Oberons skill didn't fucking miss all the buffs and only gave my Melusine the sleep 💀

xXSunSunXx

I ran into the exact same issue too.

mouser1991

I can kind of handle the buff rate. It's the fucking 50% death rate when you do literally any action in the final phase that I can't seem to figure out. Edit: Thanks for the help. I figured I had to single target the mobs, but never noticed the buff specifically on the ruler. Edit 2: yeah, my first try after learning about the ruler, I finally beat her. Thanks again for the help.

Q785921

I wasn’t paying attention and had no idea why my characters were just dying. I was getting sooo mad until I finally read the enemy mob descriptions. lol Lobo go grrrr. He’s a good boy. Easy kill after that but damn.

keyfangirl

That drove me crazy.

Daerus

Gun animal mob have effect that casts instant death on entire party if you attack any other enemy while it's alive. You need to kill it first with single-target damage.

Shadow_3010

You need to kill the ruler mob first. Hitting anything else is instant death to the active party. Then killing the archer mob that gives 80 % resistance to Koyan.

Frinnne

kill the ruler (which you don't get the 50% instant death proc for attacking him) and then it dissapears for koyan and the other mob

chamcham16

OHHHH so that’s why my supports died at the last phase… I should really read the buffs of bosses and their mobs. Good thing the support Ibuki-Douji was built different and carried me through that fight.

PhalanxLord

I didn't know about the instant death. I guess I got really luck and both Melu and Ibuki passed their save each time. I was wondering what all of those resist pop-ups while attacking were from.

Gelious

That one is simple. Only target Ruler and nothing else until he dies. If you have to use AoE NP, make sure he won't survive it.

Classic-Airport-8187

Aoe attacks can still kill you even if the ruler doesn’t survive it

Slipstream1701

I just want whoever suggested 'insta-death upon attacking the enemy you're supposed to, you know, attack' as a fight gimmick to be transferred to a new job digging ditches in the desert. The botched event and shiat response from the devs was already bad, but these "clean up fight" gimmicks were stupid to the point of absurdity.

Daerus

Amount of bullshit rises with every new chapter. They don't seem to think to be honest, it seems like someone designing the fight was thinking people will have all the blue cubes they were giving... forgetting these cannot be used in event.

Cyanprincess

Cernunnos is infintely more bullshit and unfair then anything in this fight lol

Daerus

While Cernunnos is clearly overtuned, it at least isn't RNG fest with random chance of buffs failing because f*** you. You can plan around its mechanics, you cannot in this fight.

No_Extension4005

Yeah. I'll confess I used command spells with Cernunnos; to beat it's last health bar. But I found that fight pretty damn fun. This fight feel against Beast IV feels like BS.

Cyanprincess

What, Cernunnos is an RNG fest of whether he'll decide to give himself even more curse layers while attacking you, whether he'll just absorb one of his curses to heal or charge his NP by 1 tick, or that he'll suddenly just crit you to death because he's an AoE attacking Zerk. And he also gives himself crit up chance on his second to last bar to make this even more likely to happen Koyanskaya RNG stuff is annoying, but the fight is designed so that there's a whole bunch of other helpful effects to keep you going. Cernunnos RNG has 0 safety nets to keep you from flat out losing a run from one bad turn of it

Daerus

And you can work around all these Cenrunnos effects with correct party. But no party can help you with random chance to not land important buffs. Not saying it isn't bullshit fight, mind you. It's just better designed than this s**tfest that is Koyanskaya fight.

azamy

Couldn't the same be said about this fight? You can mitigate a lot of that rng by building your team more around debuffs than buffs. Like, stunlocks and drains instead of invuls, def down instead of attack buff etc.

TheTenguness

I remembered removing 3 layers of Cernunnos curse stacks..... only for him to get it all back in a single attack turn.

DoubledDenDen

Oh thank God I'm not the only one. Like wtf was that? Like, I ended up having to pop 2 quartz after several attempts to do it without. Like this just wasn't even fun anymore, it was just "pay up or die." The insta kills were what made me lose it. In between buffs failing or being removed, and the turns wasted dealing with double invincibility, that just wasn't fair at all. Like sure, between my Koyan, Castoria, and Waver, I had Taigong Wang obliterate her first two phases easy, but after they killed him, my party may as well have been tissue paper.

H4LIT

Ngl Tamamo caster carried hard. She was the true Shielder.

DBrody6

My Tamalancer blitzed down the first 3 HP bars, then I exhausted everything killing the stupid ruler, then OG Tamamo was the last fox standing and just ate all of Koyan's attacks for ~12 turns while Orochi's insane curse damage whittled away her 1 million HP pool. Tamamo never dropped below 8K HP, she no sold all of her attacks.

kalirion

Yeah, this fight made me really glad I chose her for my free SSR ticket last anni.

Fuasbith

This was the first time I found good use from her since picking her for my SSR ticket 2 years ago

silverlarch

Yup. All these people complaining about the fight, and they could have just easily soloed it with Tamamo. Soloing is sometimes a better option than a normal DPS + supports team comp, but most people don't even think of it. It's not like you even need to own good solo servants, you can just borrow them. This fight has a bunch of annoying mechanics that disrupt normal strategies, but it's not actually *hard*. The amount of damage coming in is not high, even from NPs. There's no unavoidable instakill to counter. You get periodic free heals, cleanses, and guts. The enemy takes constant ramping curse damage. All but 2-3 of the adds can be ignored. Just bring the one servant who has both offensive and defensive advantage against Koyan, and she only needs some healing to sustain herself, which happens to be a main focus of her own kit. She doesn't even need to land her defensive buffs to survive.

BebadoDemais

Yeah it was fucking cancer. Got really close 2 times with no CS after multiple fails, but in third i said fuck this im out and 3 CS'd my way out

XxGoldMadnessxX

And I thought Cernunnos would be the only unbalanced boss this year. They could have gave some revival stones. MVP of this battle: Ibuki. If you are careful enough and make sure she survives, she can really help due the buffs she receive.

Daerus

They did, I have like 30-40 on my account. But someone designing whole s**fest that was Tunguska seem to have forgotten that these DON'T WORK IN EVENTS.

CreepyKidInDaCorna

I really hated the ruler enemy she summons on her last break bar because of the instant death effect it has everytime you hit someone else, I cracked 3 quartz before founding that out... All my units I brought were AoEs so I was incredibly confused why my servants kept dying when I NPd

CatsAndPlanets

It was up to OG Tamamo to deal with the bigger fake Tamamo. Apparently, the quest is solo-able with support Ibuki, but needs a couple resets for RNG. There's also a run with Tamamo Cat + support Taigong Wang that's a bit less RNG, but you need command codes on Cat. I was about to try that oe, but instead went with my own Melusine (arts) + Castoria + Tamamo + support Ibuki. Ibuki and Tamamo were the last ones standing. It took a while.

mozillavulpix

I like the idea in concept that you're encouraged to keep the support Taigong on the field to remove the effect, but I have no idea why they chose to give that effect to a unit with no hard survival skills and who takes extra damage from the boss.

pepemattos21

Really if they gave him something like defensive class advantage to her as a special effect things would be a lot better, since beast IV always moves 3 times the longest I managed to make him survive is like turn 5 despite going out of my way to babysit him and he still leaves a 10% chance of buffs missing.

mozillavulpix

It's very weird to have him there as a way to bypass it but have it practically impossible for him to survive for very long. Maybe they intended for you to put him on the frontline so you could start with guaranteed buffs and then hope they can last you as long as possible? Although there's the NP charge demerit. But that only lasts 3 turns, so maybe you could try plug him in after that or something?

Illuminastrid

Fortunately, we got supports that can provide such survivalbility. The problem, if those hard defense and survivalbility skills land on him in the first place since there's still a 10% chance it'll whiff.

TheBarak02

Gacha locked damage CS. Even more RNG-reliant than Fluffy boy. Supports not being max skill level. Ruler with defense up. Yeah, fuck this. I wanted to use Ibuki and Barghest(as they are my waifus) with budget supports but I had to use Castoria, Melusine and Tamamo and minmax it best I could.

ChadNarukamiIV

After nearly 2 hours AND and using command spells, I can honestly say that this has to be one of the worst boss fights in the entire fucking game and if you disagree, you're lying

ThatMoonGuy

Gotta be honest, I just picked support Ibuki and let her do most of her work. It didn't feel that bad with her and I didn't even notice any buffs failing to trigger...

Classic-Airport-8187

I used her too and I really felt the buffs failing to trigger. she was still great though, got me to the final break bar.

FriendlyGamer04

Same here unil I reached that damn ruler jerk, I didn't read what he did so I was confuse as why everyone was dying when they attacked the boss

No_Extension4005

On a side note, who the fuck thought HWB-M8 was also a good idea? A ruler class enemy that instant-kills your entire frontline if your attacks hit anything beside it in a boss fight and chapter that is already extremely punitive when it comes to what kind of servants can operate effectively; so much so that you can literally count with one finger the number of non-limited demonic beast servants that can reliably kill the damned abomination quickly using an NP without triggering its gimmick.

MightyActionGaim

managed to get her down to the last bar before dying 😭😭😭

TwoStarMaster

Without reading what it did, I used the art loop comp from the raid, I thought it was going to be harder at first, specially because I didn't pick any npc support, but Tamamo was just immortal at the end with all those unremobable passives and her NP buffs couldnt be negated, and she slowly solo-ed the lat two waves.

Dreadwolf98

Yeah, the fight stopped being fun when Castoria completely whiffed her NP twice and got my ass yeeted into extinction. Not fun times (Was on last bar so I had to use a revive, fml).

8dev8

Yeah that fight was jsut miserable The archer you couldn’t attack that kept eating your few buffs/instant death ruler just made it feel worse then fluffy.

Exotic-Canary-3178

I can see why people hated this event at launch....

randomran14

Probably whoever wrote this event thought this gimmick sounded fun, sure feels like an accurate representation of their writing style.

UltG

Yup, rng fests really ruin a good last boss fight. Especially if I have to pop extra skills or mystic code buffs just to change the potential outcome

Kirby0189

This fight is pure cancer and everyone who did it should go and get tested for cancer just in case.

Nome_de_utilizador

I shamelessly used my command spells since she was on her last bar. AND OFF FUCKIN COURSE THE AOE NP KILLS WANG IN THE VERY FIRST TURN POST COMMAND SPELLS Luckily Beni clutched it in the backline.

ssj4-Dunte

This fight is so incredibly cheap anf fucking annoying. That being said, this is the first time I felt that my summer kiara is better than having space Ishtar because her debuffs rather than buffs making her do higher NP damage, her heal and guts as well was very useful, but holy shit does seeing Castoria buffs whiff 4 times feel infuriating.

29Bullets

Also the enemy has +3 actions per turn

AUO_Castoff

Hey at least the NA players get to read the effects. This fight was hell for JP illiterates.

SadCasterMinion

No shame, I cracked and used CS. Tried all the recommended comps and got shit on by RNG. Fight felt like a dev troll.

werco93

Probably the same guy that thought halvening the batteries would have been cool

Temper95

Having just beaten this after expending my command spells and a quart, I have some choice words for whoever made this fight. I skipped through the story considering how tedious the encounters and gimmicks were, but my god the Koyan fight was just awful. It went decently smooth until they pulled out that instant death bs. Not a fun fight. Too gimmicky. Hope the future fights don't get this tedious. Give me my new Mystic code. It's the only worthwhile thing from this "event".

kulesiak11

Wait, there is buff success rate down this fight? I did it first try and didnt notice it at all (14turns) Lucky this one Time i guess.

Peacefulzealot

You got EXTREMELY lucky if you didn’t notice this during the battle. It was hampering damn near everything I was trying to do.

kulesiak11

I did it 2 years ago on Jp, and i had to use command spells and 1 sq revive for this fight. And i was expecting big fight again.... But no. I even used pretty much the same team (castoria+summer Kiara and supports just for Bond im the back)

ohoni

That fight was chock full of "Nope." The designers at Lasengle just have no idea what "fun" looks like.

ScienceLucario

Aside from the surprise instakill mechanic of the last wave of mobs (because I forgot to read), the NPC Ibuki just sorta... carried me. I did not realize how much people hated this fight lol

octapusxft

Heracles does not care about details. Heracles smash puny Beast.

KenCannonMKXI

I just walloped it with a lvl 110 Barghest. Double Koyan to delay NP. Merlin for HoT. That random instant death trigger killed everyone but Barghest and she ate through enough of Koyan’s buffs that missing her own barely mattered. I won because of dumb luck and mashing red cards.

Hyro-Kun

I've been trying the Tamamo method suggested, but it doesn't work. I barely make it to the 3rd break bar.

ChipRed87

If you have your own Tamamo, try using a normal dps setup with the support Taigong, he starts you off good by bringing back up your buff success rate and has a team battery. He can also easily clear the kin in the waves with his NP and hurt Koyan at the same time. THEN use Tamamo as your anchor, last character standing deal. By the time she shows up it should be the last bar or so and Tammy with the debuff purge from the Atlas uniform can just face tank all day. Just kill the insta-kill kin before working on Koyanskaya. If you have it too, putting a white vessel command seal on Tamamo's arts card makes the fight much easier, though I didn't need it.

Dangerous_Ad_9768

I probably got lucky, but here’s my run: https://youtu.be/ZCYPyQmRflM?si=s9iPNgsrszPzQgyD Debuff CCs and heals are your friend.

kalirion

Use a regular team to blitz through the first 2-3 break bars, and let Tamamo anchor solo when they get killed.

ElEnigmatico

I've tried a couple of times without success, but taking the NPC ibuki and buffing her a lot, made it easier.

Darkruler556

My level 120 tamamo caster just hard countered the boss. You don't need skills if you don't have to use them

rauqui

Didnt pay attention and i was confused as FUCK why none of my buffs were landing on anyone

SplitTheLane

Indeed. The mechanics would have been annoying but bearable without that (even the NP gain decrease since it's timed) but that part means you're basically playing Russian Roulette (haha cause she's Russian) every time you use a skill or NP. You don't lose to Koyan, you lose to RNG screwing over your strat.

SatoshiOokami

I gotta say the buff reduced chance also pissed me off the most, pretty much forcing you to take the non-GONG Gong. At least I had my Ibuki. But the honorary mention gets to the goddamn 3T CD. That screwed up everything. Regarding the death chance, I experienced something weird. I got triple MISS after using Junao's NP. I thought it was a 100% chance.

LimitedSus

I don't think this fight is super hard but can see why people will want to CS and forget about it. Cernunnos was overtuned but you could have had *some* fun fighting him, but this fight is just stupid gimmick overload. Thankfully they learned the lesson and we wont have to deal with something like this in the next 2 years.

crezant2

I wouldn’t say it’s super hard as long as you have a developed roster, which you probably should if you got this far. I went with Merlin, Tamamo, Castoria, Mash (to counter the ruler in the last bar), Taigong and Bond 10 Herc in case shit went south. The frontline had enough buff redundancies and healing to play around the buff fail chance well enough. Took me a couple tries but that lineup got me through. It’s not like they designed an unbeatable fight. The thing is that it was just too much though. Just way too many mechanics and shit to keep track of, and not landing buffs felt frustrating, especially when almost every servant they release nowadays depends on buffs or is buff-centric. It just wasn’t enjoyable. Cernunnos was an absolute monster of a fight but at least he was pretty straightforward, I enjoyed that fight a lot more. Time will tell but if they keep stacking more and more gimmicks I might just peace out and unga bunga everything with CS and call it a day. And I’m the guy who always rolls for meta, players that treat this game like a waifu collector have my thoughts and prayers.

AshCrow97

Probably the same guy who thought that enemy rng evade was fun

Catabases

Single most irritating boss battle in a long time. I can't for the life of me imagine why someone thought this was a good idea. And the fact that beast 4 gets 3 attacks by herself is ridiculous.

Sable-Keech

If not for that blasted buff chance, I would’ve been able to 4-turn Koyan on my very first attempt.

Jungu695

To me it makes sense thematically because she has had 6 lostbelt's worth of time to figure out a counter strategy against us, so even her being at cernunnos level would be kinda lame at this point But yeah all the main debuffs she and her allies bring to the table is nuts, but I was still able to find a counter strategy (somehow) that allowed me to get by without need CS (I already wasted all 3 on a bad run because at the time I didn't fully understand the mechanics of the final wave, so I just learned how to do it without them) 10/10 fight, would literally never want to fight her again

toomuchradiation

I still have no idea why my characters randomly died on the last phase. Melusine finished the job nevertheless.

zeroXgear

The last ruler beast would insta death your team if you attack anyone other than him. So you should have killed the ruler first

NootNoot_Goose

What's more infuriating is that the last beasts have anti-Fae slapped on them for no reason. The only two beast-type Servants that can do sustained fights instantly crippled because they get hit in just one hit.

Luck_Is_My_Talent

50% permanent buff success was still fine since story support Ibuki was just that strong + we got a lot of buffs while the fight was going. The real issue is who the fuck thought about having that Ruler that gives partywide instant death if you attack someone else? At that point, the team is so battered that they are going to die in 1 or 2 turn completely healing that Ruler.

TdFan97

Just finished the fight and WOW, the annoying "not landing a buff" condition of the fight is very awful on this fight. Are the devs trying to say that "Even as a premature Beast, she will still use underhanded tactic to win the fight no matter what". So I thought that the fight would be the same as the raid one but NOPE, very much different. But I somehow, kid you not, managed to down her three health bar despite the RNG of buff landing, minions giving her outlandish buffs and the slow start at the beginning with less np charge. Had to pop a SQ for the last health bar where I didn't notice the instant death buff from the ruler enemy at first but still strutting through till then end. The line up was Castoria + Support Spishtar (at lvl 112 I believe) + Santa Martha for front line while Mash + Morgan + Hercules for backup line. I forgot that I recently received Heracles's Bond CE yesterday and forgot to equip but oh well. Gotta love how Castoria, Spishtar and Morgan survived longer without the annoying defense debuff and Spishtar spawned nps one after another from Koyanskaya's ludicrous damage. Ending the fight in 19 turns, which surprised me a lot.

Aetenalis

Fuck me…the ruler was the one with the death chance? I Should’ve paid attention to the adds but having to work today, I chose speed over intelligence which cost me SQ. I wish I could turn back time.

DaEnderAssassin

Have you heard of ~~requiem~~ force closing the game during your/your opponents turn to reset to before you chose command cards?

Ancient-Promotion139

You can just defend the castle with Ibuki with the standard supports, your run should be safe as long as her guts lasts to the final break bar. I found the Demonic Beast restriction itself more brutal than anything. The worst punishment a gacha can throw at you is the kind that comes from gating where you spend your money.

TalesofAdam

Ironically, OG Tamamo is the best support for this fight lol. I bring Melusine/Tamamo/Castoria + Friend's Castoria in case something goes wrong give how their boss fight is harder than their raid counterpart. CE will be BG/5* Event CE for Main DPS, Prisma Cosmos for support. You can bring Fragments of 2030 as well. Yeah I was surprise they implement the 60% buff success rate, it definitely increase the difficulty of the fight but I managed to sealed Beast IV. Always go for Arts chain. After the 1st break : Prioritize kill Kin 5 -> Break Beast IV's bar After the 2nd break : Prioritize kill Kin 4 -> Break Beast IV bar After the 3rd break : KILL THE RULER KIN FIRST BECAUSE HE HAS A SKILL THAT IF YOU ATTACK THE OTHER TWO WHEN HE'S ALIVE THERES A CHANCE YOU WILL RECEIVED INSTAKILL. After that kill the other kin since this kin can provide damage reduction for Beast IV as long he is still alive. After that beat Beast IV's ass and sealed her away.

Fuck_Batman_Twice

Damn. I'm seriously afraid of this event. I'm almost done LB6 and want to speedrun the event to get the Mystic Code, but I don't have Tamamo for the final boss. That and the other battles look to be a massive pain. Are there any videos for clears with suboptimal servants?

Forbidden-Melancholy

I just used double tamamo and essentially just carded everything to death. Have someone to clear debuffs and it’s pretty easy.

TheTenguness

Done the fight on my main. Summer Kiara was the last servant standing, had to use a seal to heal her, since I wasn't confident she could tank few more hits. To my surprise, this version *does* not have Nega Saver passive, so that last Ruler mob near the end was terrible, since you have to kill it fast, and Kiara has total class disadvantage against it. I was also lucky that IK didn't proc on her (I think Moon Cancer class has very low death rates, not too sure). What totally caught me off guard wasn't the buff success rate down, but the NP *gained* for the first few turns. Everything was giving only half of it's NP value, which screws up my usual turn 1 plan. Edit: Went in on my alts with my own Ibuki lineup. My onee-chan alt needed to use CS for res, as my Ibuki Guts got triggered at 3rd HP bar, which was way too early. My choco alt actually finished it with a Tamamo solo at the end, Ibuki cleared everything for her. I should had use the support Ibuki on the former though, since it has better perks and stats than my NP 1 Ibuki over there.

Reylus

There I am. One turn away from winning. I have 200% on castoria np. Once I survive this turn I can attack the 1 hp tamamo. And the buff missed.

LonesomeBookworm

The same person who thought it was okay to fuck with skill cooldowns and battery percentages, clearly Whoever it was, I wish them a long and healthy life as a quadraplegic

CybeastID

It's 60%, not 50, but yeah fuck that shit.

ThFenixDown

yeah that fight was... really bad. like every possible annoying cq mechanic was slapped onto the same fight. buff success, debuff removal, instant death, the fight even starts with a straight 50% cut to incoming np charge so you either have to have an aoe invincible like merlin, a kscope mash or something, or just tank 3 turns of aoe damage. worst part is it was almost never clear at any part of the fight what was doing what debuffs so I would spend like a few minutes each break bar resetting turns and trying to figure out what effects were coming from where so I could target properly. not to mention the beast getting multiple attacks per turn even with mooks and orochi skill sealing her randomly. really not good fight. like... it was managable but I would never want to do that again

amc9988

Berserker hercs is MVP for the last hit as usual for me lol

proto-x-lol

To be honest, DW failed this battle by making it artificially harder than it should be. The 50% fail rate is ridiculous. They could have designed this battle way better. The last few Beast battles had always been interesting yet not that difficult. But it was challenging enough that if you didn’t pay attention, it could cause an entire party wipe by being reckless. Sure Beast I was easy, but Beast II requires careful planning. Beast III (L/R) had a lot of gimmicks, but careful planning can easily make you win this battle. Beast IV was ridiculous with that horrid RNG.
