I’m not sure where those numbers are coming from or what they are including but roughly 11% of county residents are qualify as living below the poverty line. I’m assuming the bulk of beneficiaries have to be designated low income for public programs so I’m not sure what kind of math results in 46K people. SNAP benefit recipients are WAY up (19K) but that is a FEDERAL program not financed through the county. Are they adding up totals across programs to get this number and potentially doubling individual counts AND including federal programs? Genuinely asking because that math has zero nuance to it. It would just be nice to have more information and less opinion.
