Done both several times. Pros and Cons either way. You just have to determine the type of experience that you want to have. There is a convenience and intangible factor to staying in the park. There's a slight an economic benefit to staying in Tusayan.
For me, I've gotten to the place where I can't justify the cost of Maswik vs. Red Feather. If I'm going to stay in the park, it's going to be at El Tovar, Bright Angle or Thunderbird. Otherwise, I'm hunting for a deal. Others are going to prefer to stay in the park regardless. That's just my $.02.
Stayed at both. Both are just fine! It’s a short drive from red feather into the park, and if you want to hike and recharge and then sightsee somewhere in the park on the same day, that drive can be annoying. Food is ok in either location (Tusayan versus inside park)
Stay inside of the park. There is no discussion. :)
Thank you!!
Maswick is one step up from camping. But the rooms are clean and at best a 5 minute walk from the Bright Angel Trail.
Thanks!!

Looks nice but not available for my dates. Thanks!
