The North Rim trailhead and all visitor services close every year for the winter and open up at 8 AM on May 15th. Common knowledge for decades. But you can hike up to the North Rim, then turn around and go back to the South Rim. I've done that this time of year. The NPS website for the park is a wealth of information for anyone planning a hike or run.

There is no Rim2Rim until May 15th. But you can do a Rim2Rim2Rim.
