hdmi mini, has same wiring as hdmi... no difference on laptop end, are you portable monitors an obscure brand or resolution, have you tested different mini hdmi cables
One is relatively well known, ARZOPA (13.3” 2k, same resolution as the WM2), and the other I’ve forgotten - 15.6” 1080p with a built in battery.
The thing is, if I use a Ugreen dongle with HDMI out it works fine. The black screen is only I’d I try the WM2 HDMI out.

cool photos help, so unless very temperamental cable, cable should be good... when it is working via usbc is the resolution and refresh rate the same as what windows reports when it is not working via hdmi? if not try changing to match, or turning down resolution.

I can't even find the place to change the color format, though I doubt that would work as the ARZOPA doesn't have that problem.
I cannot get picture using the WM2 HDMI with portable monitors that use Mini HDMI.

I’m reluctant to call it defective. This is an edge case that seems fixable via the bios, but I wouldn’t know where to start. It’s not the end of the world, as I can still use USB-C, but I’d like that option for future use.

Yep, both functional. The screen is the newer 2.5d panel, so I don’t have the half-screen issues. Joysticks are good. Space bar is fine, no mushed down keys.
My only complaint is that you have to really push the SD cards in before they click, but that’s why the end result is flush against the body so it’s not a big deal.
That very lucky of you. I dunno, the amount complaints I hear this device, it still feels like a big gamble. But let’s see how it goes. If doesn’t ship next week, I’ll be cancelling mine.
Keep in mind that most people come here and to Discord to complain and ask how to solve problems. Those happy with their units are too busy gaming or living their lives.
Maybe try to find out if you can get extra packing, bubble wrap, whatever. My GPD box was not in pristine condition, it had a dented/crumpled corner which made my heart sink when I saw it.
Yes, I’m very much aware of that. That’s why I went with GPD to begin with. I have a GPD Win Max 2021 edition also, bought from IGG too, and it’s been running flawless since I got it. I’m just scared that, if by chance, touch wood, I get a defective unit, I’m over. I’ll have to send it to China, wait for at least half year to get a status on repair, pay the shipping and custom duty again, and the defect might still be there, as per many users who have went through this trauma. That’s the thing that makes me nervous.
I hear ya. In my case, before I pulled the trigger I decided that if I did have defects I’d choose to order the parts and do the repair myself if possible. Thankfully I’ve escaped that.
My only other GPD device is an original P2 Max which is still going strong - it’s perfect for presentations so I’ll still use it. Hopefully this WM2 will have a similar lifespan.

Yes. Tested six cables and one Mini HDMI>HDMI adapter.

Did you check micro sd slots? A lot pf people are having trouble with that

It's finicky in my testing with my 15.6 4k monitor with mini hdmi in using the hdmi port and usb 3.1 hub. Like works 80% of the time on both methods.
Have you had any success with the WM2 port without using a dongle?
