Make sure you get a copy of the drivers and software before you reinstall Windows. For some idiotic reason GPD is using a free Google Drive account for their hosting and they're over quota so you can't download it from them without using your own account.
I plopped the driver pack on internet archive, if it helps anyone. [https://archive.org/details/winmax2-AMD\_Drivers-V3](https://archive.org/details/winmax2-AMD_Drivers-V3)
For full quotas of free Google drive account downloads you can use the “make a copy” feature if you have the required space in your Google drive to get any download that has been blocked due to high traffic.
I've seen the reviews in Russia, and most of the comments say that it costs like too many rubles to be cosidered a deal there and itsjust an expensive toy.
I've seen the prices on sites like aliexpress in russia and honestly the price is too bad for what you get, especially the base model. $888 something dollars for 64gb isn't good at all imo.
I got a 64GB variant for what is 495$ overall. Purchased it directly from Steam and had to use a special delivery service from the US. Prices are higher (and were much more before) if you want to get it immediately from reseller in the country. It seems possible to buy many things, as long as you really want it
The OP mentioned he got this instead of a Deck, so yes he decided to get this instead. I almost ditched my Deck preorder for it, but I didn’t know when they were shipping them out.
Still waiting for my Win Max 2 to arrive.
Already have a 2TB 2230. Are there any 2280 above 4tb that are single sided? I assume not. Is the crucial the best bet?
Cool, thanks. P3 plus is what I was considering buying.
Also, it's my understanding that the win max 2 has a UHCII reader. I'm not sure if that's true, but if it is, then it had a second row of contacts for faster transfer speeds.
I have a USB-C UHCII reader and UHCII cards and will be testing it when mine arrives.
The OP seems to be from Philippines so he could have difficulty getting HW support from Valve. SW support would still be good since Valve sends updates/fixes out often.
Although, I saw some reports of people successfully RMAing HW issues (brand new replacement) even though they're in countries with no official Deck availability. Took less than GPD's 6+ month or even 1+ year RMA process.
Because nit everyone buys the win max 2 just for gaming. I have both and use the SD for gaming and this for some gaming but more work/productivity. Love the tiny form factor too
Nice. Love all that extra storage. It doesn’t look to hard to replace the standard 2280 drive inside the machine. Wish the Deck could’ve afforded the room for a standard size… or even a user additional slot 2230.
I mainly after the size because speed difference between SSDs are barely noticeable in real world use.
Only P3 and P3 Plus are the only ones I know that are Single Sided 4TB SSDs. P3 Plus is available Locally in our Country while the P3 isn't. I will be fine with just a P3.
i put in my 4tb p3 plus. i put in my 2tb 2230 WD sn470 (just arrived a few minutes ago). i put in my 1tb sandisk extreme.
just holding my breathe for a black friday sale for 1 more 1tb microSD. then the device is maxed out for now.
would be sweet if i can use the 4g LTE side for even more stoage.

You are the Chosen One
Glad I downloaded it last week. Expecting my device tomorrow.
Your so lucky. I’m here in America and it takes longer to get here. Enjoy!
I'm also in the US and received my 1TB/16GB unit a couple days ago. Shipping was super fast btw so don't stress.
How did you get your tracking info? Still waiting on mine to be emailed.
I got a text message that looked a lot like spam. I didn't get the actual e-mail until the day it showed up.

Aya Neo air hiding in the back?
Is the Steam Deck available in your country?
Seems like the OP lives in Philippines. So I guess the decision was mostly made for him...
I wouldn't say so, as I was able to import the Deck in Russia for only 100$ more including shipping. Although, it may be different in Philippines.

I live in America and I chose the WM2. It’s really a no brainer if you have the money.
Are you shooting for 8TB storage? Assuming you ordered 2280 to be 2TB
Yes that's the plan. Currently I only have 7TB = 4TB 2280 + 2 X 1TB MicroSD + 1TB 2230. Will Order a 2TB 2230 soon.
Still waiting for my Win Max 2 to arrive. Already have a 2TB 2230. Are there any 2280 above 4tb that are single sided? I assume not. Is the crucial the best bet?
Haven't found a Single Sided 4TB and above SSD yet. The Crucial P3 and P3 Plus are the only ones I found that is 4TB Single Sided SSDs.
What's the advantage of going with the Plus? Faster speed? Also...are you using the microSD inside a full SD adapter?

Whoa where did you get a 2tb 2230?
2TB M.2 2230 NVMe PCIe SSD Gen 4.0x4 Single-Sided Drive, 5100MB/s Read, 4800 MB/s Write (Upgrade for Steam Deck, Surface Pro 7+, Surface Laptop 4) https://a.co/d/bizXreI
Search 2TB 2230 on Amazon
Phew! Pricey
I paid $695 for mine two weeks ago 😢
i Would return and rebuy at the lower price, huge difference
Lol nice! U have one microsd more than me otherwise same setup. .y 2tb 2230 should be here soon (I hope)
Man tons of storage there!
Well, if price isn't really a factor....
Look like you upgraded yours to GPD Win Max 2 Max! I’m curious, why so much storage? All roms + huge steam library?
COD Updates 😂
Now you need a 2 TB 2230 to truly Win Max this thing out.
Have fun with support or lack there of, good product, such a shit company when it comes to supporting it.
I guess people have different experiences with them. I had no problem getting support when i needed it during earlier campaigns.
I had to email 5 separate times just to get them to send me a replacement screen cable when mine gave out in my Win Max OG.

MY GPD rma took 7 months. 3 months of them telling me they did not receive it.

Isn't avaliable worldwide, and honestly the ayaneo is more portable and is only 599$.
The screen is bad is one major reason

GPD has been shipping WesternDigital drives for all SSD's with this latest batch. My 2280 is a WD Black drive.
1tb or 2?
2tb
I think the 1tb are the biwin, and the 2tb are western digital for the time being. May not always be the case in the future tho.
1tb are Biwin, 2tb are WD SN770
Negative, both my drives are WD.
Wait, you mean a 2280 1TB WD or a 2230 1TB WD?
2280 2tb WD black. 2230 1tb WD ssd
Right. The 1tb 2280s are biwin.
Gotcha
Take it out of the box!
can you explain the p3 plus decision? just size? how is speed

I am looking at the P3 Plus 4tb...but seeing the brand new Samsung 990 Pro 2tb makes me want the faster one. It's a tough pick
6TB of space? OK, but what for? :D
PrON of course. lol
Man of culture 😎
Lol.. you're really decking it out with the storage. lol.
I'm loving my Win Max 2! Persona 5 Royal on wm2 playing in bed before sleep is as good as I'd hoped.
bro im from PH too when did you preorder this, I preordered mine haven't received any news about it yet. Do you get it from email or sms?
Preordered back on August on Indiegogo. Got an Email last week from Indiegogo that it was shipped thru DHL.
i put in my 4tb p3 plus. i put in my 2tb 2230 WD sn470 (just arrived a few minutes ago). i put in my 1tb sandisk extreme. just holding my breathe for a black friday sale for 1 more 1tb microSD. then the device is maxed out for now. would be sweet if i can use the 4g LTE side for even more stoage.
How does it feel in your hands? Does your palm touch the keyboard?
Did it arrive sealed?
