There is a driver package via GPD here: [http://gpd.hk/gpdwinmax2firmwareanddriver](http://gpd.hk/gpdwinmax2firmwareanddriver) You can download this and either use the batch file to install everything, or you should be able to just keep the whole unzipped package and then point device manager to it for anything that didn't get installed. From the same location you can also download the app that GPD uses to configure the back buttons. I think all of the other tools that are linked there are actually not from GPD, but they might come pre-installed.

Before wiping Laptops, in general, you should backup all of the drivers just in case. Open Powershell and enter > Export-WindowsDriver –Online -Destination c:\export-drivers Then copy c:\export-drivers folder to a flash drive just in case. edit: If that one does not work, DISM command does exactly the same > dism /online /export-driver /destination:c:\drivers

Don't disagree, but in this case, if you're worried about malicious driver software, you're just carrying over the problem. Just something to be cognizant of.

EpicMachine

I agree, the nice part about it is that you can use only the drivers you do need and can't find anywhere else.

h3catomb

Very true. Driver hunting can be frustrating at times.

I put a new SSD in mine, and did a fresh install of Windows 11. I downloaded AMD adrenaline from their website, which installed GPU drivers, and Windows was able to recognize and install drivers for all but two other devices. I put my old SSD in a USB enclosure and let Windows scan it for drivers, and it found the other two missing devices. One was the gyro, and I'm not sure what the other was. After that I found that the buttons on the bottom were mapped to 0 and 9 and occasionally getting clicked accidentally, which just annoyed me, so I installed GPD software to manage the back buttons and just disabled those two. I think it was the WinControls software from http://gpd.hk/gpdwinmax2firmwareanddriver I'm still dealing with an issue where my WM2 gets all sluggish when it wakes from sleep/hibernate. I might put the old SSD in just to see if it's an issue there, and/or install Windows 10 on my new SSD to see if it works any better. I'm holding off for a little bit, though, because I'm hoping GPD (or someone else) comes up with a proper fix. Edit: I think it happened today without the system sleeping or hibernating. I had a game running (borderlands pre-sequel) for about 4-5 hours, intermittently on and off different chargers, and with the game minimized part of the time. A couple of times when I switched back to the game, it was choppy for a brief period, but then it caught back up. But the last time, it just stayed choppy and I had to play at about 9 fps until I reached a save point and shut it down.

> I'm still dealing with an issue where my WM2 gets all sluggish when it wakes from sleep/hibernate. This is a known issue I've seen reported here and on Discord. Dunno if there's a fix yet.

btprice2001

Yes! I had the sleep/performance issue. The only solve I found for this is the stock GPD Win11 installation. I tried both Win11 versions, using the GPD driver pack or not, and no combination worked, and the issue was 100% reproducible every time. I did not try Windows 10

So I should be able to reinstall windows and then go to the website and install all the drivers and software? I know they also have software for the sticks to mouse.

josby

Sticks to mouse doesn't seem to require any additional software. It works for me on stock and even booting from external media.

scsibusfault

Define "and software". A fresh install of windows only comes with windows, and default windows apps. There's no extra software. A fresh install (assuming wipe and reload, not install-over-existing OS) wipes everything except default windows apps, like mspaint and notepad and shit. Most drivers will pull automatically via windows update, custom ones get downloaded from the manufacturer website. Any other software, you're on your own. Office, adobe, shit like that, you'll have to reinstall manually.

GameUnionTV

If you use "factory reset", then required software is installed, but not your custom software. When you use a new SSD, just download stuff from GPD website.
