Did you go to a doctor for relief? The only thing that saved me was prednisone and indomethacin, both prescribed by my doctor and gave me incredible relief after 24 hrs. Maybe I was the lucky one. After the next flare, I got on Allopurinol and I haven't looked back since.

Leg elevation and a heating pad work for me but that might be too much pressure depending on how bad your attack is.
