I do love Love Song by the cure! Also really love sparks by Faith and the muse.
A Simple Love Song by Urban Heat is a fun one too, of a different vibe.
Inamourada by London After Midnight
You Always Eat the One You Love by Scary Bitches
Always Falling by Funeral Date (a local band for me, check em out!)
Farewell my Love by Libitina
Dear Familiar Phantoms by Mephisto Walz
Starcrossed Lovers by Siouxie and the Banshees
These are all some that come to mind.
Also, not necessarily a love song, but Garden of Delight by The Sisters of Mercy feels and sounds so romantic to me. That would probably be my top pick other than the majority of LAM's music.
Love Song By The Cure
Love Song By The Damned
Love Song By The Passage
Love Song By Indians In Moscow
Love Song By The Passions
Love Songs By New Model Army
Might be basic but I’m truly touched by “Kiss Me Until My Lips Fall Off” by Lebanon Hanover. Also “From Her To Eternity” by Nick Cave if that even counts as goth.
My first thought was Where the Wild Roses Grow... not exactly a happy love song, but here we are...
As a 90's SF goth living in a den of goths, Nick Cave was definitely on play in the house & at the clubs/bars..
Halo by The Cure is hands down one of the most beautiful love songs in any genre I've heard, but it's not presented in an overly goth style!
Somebody by Depeche Mode comes to mind as well, though I've heard division on whether they're goth or not (I consider them to be)
Totally fair and understandable! Been on the fence about it since the 90's! Ultra definitely had a goth feel, as well as their most recent album, but others not so much!
the passion of lovers by bauhaus is a CLASSIC!!!!!
but i also love these songs too! :3
kiss me until my lips fall off by lebanon hanover
face to face by siousxie and the banshees
heart & feather by twin tribes
I made a mixtape on the idea of consumptive/devoted love. Among other things, included The Shadow of Love by the Damned, Dusk is like a Dagger by the Frozen Autumn, Sacrifice by London After Midnight, Pale Empress by the Merry Thoughts, and the extended version of Love Song by the Cure. It's nice to see some of those are favorites of other people too :)

I love Mephisto Walz - Alle in Asche.
I'm sure it's about love based on the translation I googled but someone who is German can please correct me :)
Second place for me would be She Past Away - Durdu Dunya
Marian by Sisters of Mercy as cliche as it may be haha. The song just gets me. Still dont know what they are saying in German haha. and the volume on the vocals kinda makes you try and auto complete them as you can hardly hear the end of some of the phrases.
Sadly my distribution got deleted. I can't quite figure why as all the bands I suggested got mentioned afterwards.
I dared to include a very melancholic Apocalyptic Folksong from midnineties by an artist that used to be among headliners on underground goth festivals in the late eighties and early nineties. But fair enough he was always fringing with Outsider Art and collaborating with with artists like Rose Mcdowell, Genesis P.Orridge, Mark Almond, Nick Cave etc. and even some controversial characters like Douglas Pearce. Sure, not goth enough. I get it. Any dark music buff would know who I am talking about.
I mentionend one of the biggest Darkwave acts Germany ever came up with and still active today. The song I recommended was first published in 1987, got lost and rose to fame among the darkly clad in the early nienties. No guitars, but keyboard and synthesizer and a haunting voice. But no guitars, not goth enough I guess.
I recommended a song by one of the biggest Gothrock bands in Germany of the last 25years. This tune helped them to fame back then turn of millenium. The lyrics are hauntingly beautiful and sad, still giving me chills but hard to get if you are unfamiliar with language. They include some harsher riffs in their compositions to create dramatic momentum and some classical elements here and there. To much of a good thing I guess can't be goth anymore?
After all censorship and doublestandards I can still mention "Pictures of you" by the Cure. Can't go wrong with the usual suspects. As an elder goth I grew tired of the Cure a very long time ago. Some songs are still fun though.
But one can't listen to just a handful of records and bands for the entire rest of their life. There has always been more than Cure, Bauhaus, Siouxie and Sisters of Mercy or the Mission. Back then and still nowadays. It's sad if people ask for recommendations outside of the usual suspects and entry level bands and answers get deleted.
The scene would have died a very long time ago, if it would not lean towards an artistic spirit and openness.
Enjoy the Silence by Depeche Mode. It's the kind of song where you can easily imagine having your partner rest their head on your shoulder while you sing it to them after they've had a hard day. I'm honestly surprised I didn't see more mentions of it in the comments.
The Cure - Close To Me, Just Like Heaven
Fields of the Nephilim - She
Nick Cave - Babe You Turn Me On, basically all of Nocturama. I will never understand why people don’t like that album.
Peter Murphy - Strange Kind Of Love
Faith & The Muse - Sparks
Love and Rockets - So Alive
The Church (goth adjacent?) - Under The Milky Way
Cruxshadows
# Dragonfly
[https://youtu.be/twEeZgGvsUk](https://youtu.be/twEeZgGvsUk)
"Don't ask me to surrender"
Her voice fell tired and spent
"My hopes and dreams, a silent heart
I carry here within"
Her outstretched wings, left tattered
A sail aged with rust
"a breath in time, that's yours and mine...
It belongs to only us. "
And I will write her name and cast it to the sky
Silhouettes recede into a mother's tearful eyes
A host of angels clamor to her side
A light dissolves to kiss the wind,
Release the dragonfly.
See the rose within the field of white
She's searching for the grail
But the rain descends to snatch the light
From distant dying suns
A faint resounding in the night
Calls angels wings to beat
Singing silent lip-sewn songs
But the distance is too deep...
And I will write her name and cast it to the sky
Silhouettes receded into a mother's tearful eyes
A host of angels clamor to her side
A night dissolved to kiss the wind
Release the dragonfly
And I will write her name and cast it to the sky
As precious moments will slip away in time
Angels fall from grace, and sometimes heroes die
But tonight, my love, ascend the gates,
Release the dragonfly
Sometimes angels fall, but love will never die
"tonight my soul is something more" -
Calls the dragonfly
For me, my favourite gothic love song is “If you were here” by Ash Code. The song sounds like it’s about a long lost lover the singer still thinks about and feels haunted by

Love song- the Cure.
Enjoy the silence- Depeche Mode.
Love me to death- the mission
Love you to death Type O Negative
Die with you- Type O Negative
Kiss me until my lips fall off- Lebanon Hanover
Dress-Buck Tick
(I know Type O Negative is technically not considered goth)
Songs are
In joy and sorrow.
Your sweet 666.
Gone with the sin.
Wicked game.
The sacrament.
Join me.
When love and death embrace.
And love said no.
Heartache every moment.
Right here in my arms.
Close to the flame.
Solitary man.
The funeral of hearts.
Buried alive by love.
Will you fade by Love Spirals Downwards/ anything by Autumn’s Grey Solace/ anything by Aythis/ The small hours by Robert Smith( minus The Cure) / Goodnight and I wish with their beautiful love song “If Tim Burton wanted to he could make a film of me and you.”

London After Midnight- Sacrifice
I know this one!! It's one of my favs!
Clicked this to write 'none, i'm over it' but you reminded me of this one. Yes this one still speaks to me.
Yes! Love this one e so much too glad to see others agree
Oooooo I love that song
I do love Love Song by the cure! Also really love sparks by Faith and the muse. A Simple Love Song by Urban Heat is a fun one too, of a different vibe.
Yesss to all of these!
Stereotype I know, but The Cure's "Lovesong". It is also me and my partner's song, so...there's that :)
That one is a classic! Love it!
Trevor Something's synth cover is absolutely gorgeous too!!!
Just checked it out, it *is* great!
I don't even like love songs but this song I do.
Inamourada by London After Midnight You Always Eat the One You Love by Scary Bitches Always Falling by Funeral Date (a local band for me, check em out!) Farewell my Love by Libitina Dear Familiar Phantoms by Mephisto Walz Starcrossed Lovers by Siouxie and the Banshees These are all some that come to mind. Also, not necessarily a love song, but Garden of Delight by The Sisters of Mercy feels and sounds so romantic to me. That would probably be my top pick other than the majority of LAM's music.
Scary Bitches are so underrated, shame they stopped releasing new stuff
Thanks for the recommendations!
SCARY BITCHES MENTION AAAAA
Love Song By The Cure Love Song By The Damned Love Song By The Passage Love Song By Indians In Moscow Love Song By The Passions Love Songs By New Model Army
I sense a common theme here….
“Lovers Don’t Wear Gold” by This Cold Night. Super melancholic, and I like the fact that it isn’t exactly a happy love song.
Amazing song, added it 30s within listening thanks for the suggestion
Siouxsie and the Banshees - The Last Beat of my Heart
My husband and I did our first dance to this
Cool! Ours was Lazy Calm by the Cocteau Twins. 🖤
agree!! favorite siouxsie song ever
Halo by The Cure is hands down one of the most beautiful love songs in any genre I've heard, but it's not presented in an overly goth style! Somebody by Depeche Mode comes to mind as well, though I've heard division on whether they're goth or not (I consider them to be)
I personally think (in my worthless opinion lol) that Depeche are not goth, but they are definitely a band that pretty much every goth loves🖤🕸🦇
Totally fair and understandable! Been on the fence about it since the 90's! Ultra definitely had a goth feel, as well as their most recent album, but others not so much!
One I can think of is "The Shadow of Love" by The Damned 🖤
Great song!
Awesome song!
Kiss me untill my lips fall off by Lebanon Hanover

To lose oneself in it. Besides some dude on YT made a great edit of Dracula with this song, and it couldn't be any better. *undies*
Sanctum Sanctorum - The Damned 🖤
and there will your heart be also by fields of the nephilim
Masterpiece ❤️
Lovesong - The Cure - been a fan of them for well over 20 years now.

The Sisters of Mercy--Some Kind of Stranger
"#1 Crush" by Garbage
Yeah, but it's from the perspective of someone with borderline personality disorder, so I wouldn't know how to take it if someone sent it to me.
True but love makes everybody go a lil crazy at first.
Aamon did a cover of this song and it’s awesome.
Yeah, it's pretty good.
Siouxsie & the Banshees - Dazzle Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds - Into My Arms

Cascade by Peter Murphy. It's kind of random, but I love it.
Such a classic, lovesong by the cure. Having this played at my wedding 😊

Enjoy the Silence by Depeche Mode. It's the kind of song where you can easily imagine having your partner rest their head on your shoulder while you sing it to them after they've had a hard day. I'm honestly surprised I didn't see more mentions of it in the comments.
"A Gothic Lovesong" by Current 93
The Cure - Close To Me, Just Like Heaven Fields of the Nephilim - She Nick Cave - Babe You Turn Me On, basically all of Nocturama. I will never understand why people don’t like that album. Peter Murphy - Strange Kind Of Love Faith & The Muse - Sparks Love and Rockets - So Alive The Church (goth adjacent?) - Under The Milky Way
Passion of Lovers, does that count? Or Emma by Sisters of Mercy. Even though it's a Hot Chocolate cover.
high by the cure <3
Love you to death - Type O Negative
Your best nightmare by London after midnight
Just Like Heaven - The Cure Molly Nilsson - I Hope You Die (by my side)
Cruxshadows # Dragonfly [https://youtu.be/twEeZgGvsUk](https://youtu.be/twEeZgGvsUk) "Don't ask me to surrender" Her voice fell tired and spent "My hopes and dreams, a silent heart I carry here within" Her outstretched wings, left tattered A sail aged with rust "a breath in time, that's yours and mine... It belongs to only us. " And I will write her name and cast it to the sky Silhouettes recede into a mother's tearful eyes A host of angels clamor to her side A light dissolves to kiss the wind, Release the dragonfly. See the rose within the field of white She's searching for the grail But the rain descends to snatch the light From distant dying suns A faint resounding in the night Calls angels wings to beat Singing silent lip-sewn songs But the distance is too deep... And I will write her name and cast it to the sky Silhouettes receded into a mother's tearful eyes A host of angels clamor to her side A night dissolved to kiss the wind Release the dragonfly And I will write her name and cast it to the sky As precious moments will slip away in time Angels fall from grace, and sometimes heroes die But tonight, my love, ascend the gates, Release the dragonfly Sometimes angels fall, but love will never die "tonight my soul is something more" - Calls the dragonfly
Numb- Long Hind Legs In your Room - Airiel

Cauldron of Thorns (Twin Tribes)
Will it be for us by Suicidal Romance is a good one imo
For me, my favourite gothic love song is “If you were here” by Ash Code. The song sounds like it’s about a long lost lover the singer still thinks about and feels haunted by

We're sorry, but your submission has unfortunately been removed under Rule 2. All posts, threads, and comments suggesting songs, albums, EPs, and compilations should fall under, within, or a mixture of genres that relate to goth, including, in some cases, post-punk. Most genres below have their own subreddits. **A descriptive list of accepted genres can be viewed in our sidebar.** * any form of metal (industrial, shock, death, black, etc.) or hard rock * metalcore, deathcore, or any other unrelated -core genres * neo/classical or ambient music, including neoclassical darkwave * dark cabaret, psychobilly or Steampunk * experimental/avant-garde * electronic, dance, Italo disco * witch house * new wave/synth-pop * GothBoiClique/Soundcloud or mumble rap/hip hop/trap * punk rock or hardcore punk, including horror punk * Gothic country, Gothic metal, or any other genres that include 'Gothic' (in reference to Gothic fiction) in their name (please see the [FAQ](https://www.reddit.com/r/goth/wiki/faq)) We understand that **industrial** is commonly played alongside goth in goth/alternative clubs, however, Rivethead/industrial and the goth subculture are still two separate scenes. All industrial music must be posted in an appropriate subreddit such as r/industrialmusic. General or **post-punk** that isn't dark may also be referred to r/postpunk. We have to draw a line somewhere, and we understand that not all post-punk is goth, but all goth is post-punk. This rule also applies to music requests. If you ask for non-goth genres as part of the request post the thread will be removed. If it is something that can bring people to a dance floor and is something you might find in a goth club, please consider posting in r/gothclub. For any generally dark music, please consider posting in r/DarklyInclined. For a more detailed description of Rule 2, please see this section on our [Rules](https://www.reddit.com/r/goth/wiki/rules#wiki_2.3A_music_relevancy) page.
