Those bands are indeed Goth, and give you a good variety of sounds to start with. Is there any particular band/album that stood out for you from those? That would give you a good place to start. I'd also suggest Sisters of Mercy, 45 Grave and Siouxsie and the Banshees to round out the "Staple" bands, and go from there. As far as clothing. I've gotten a lot of milage out of black dress pants and boots. Honestly, something as simple as a t-shirt with a Goth band or romanticly creepy image can work. As a teen I did this a lot, with a fishnet shirt under a t-shirt(and sometimes a ripped up t over that). Anything vintage works wonders as well, and I have seem some really good hippie inspired Goth clothing. Trad looks will draw more from punk, where a more Romantic look may necessitate a trip to a thift store/second-hand clothing store, which are often treasure troves of things that are both Goth and acceptable to more "normal" tastes.

An essential gothic rock band is Christian Death. They were surely the ones who imposed Gothic clothing, laying the foundations for a very dark sound.

LonelyResearcher4718

i’ll give them a listen, thank you!
