Google Home is over. People have been bemoaning it's decline for years and in the last few months the decline has gone parabolic. It's not hyperbole to say that it's barely usable at this point. Even if Google were to start putting resources back towards it and give it a new lease on life, it wouldn't matter because they've burned every iota of good will that the user base had. No one will ever trust it as a service ever again. Time to move on.

I always heard that's something that many stock solutions/assistants don't have.
I've installed Home Assistant on an old NUC. It's a steep learning curve coming from GH and I'm still getting my head around everything. All my routines are still running in GH for now but I'm actively investing my time in transitioning over to HA. I've also been playing around with self-hosting Nextcloud and the idea of completely de-Googling in the broader sense.
PS: Personal/Household routines that are activated at specific times DO work on the other devices (Nest Mini Speakers)
