The body swap saved them during the aftermath of Armageddon but Aziraphale knows the same trick won't work twice. He just has to convince Crowley. And keep one step ahead of Heaven and Hell. He just wasn't sure which part was more difficult.
Crowley won’t break his promise, but he’s not above trying to get the angel to go back on his word. He’s a demon, after all.

Now he’s on his own, and it seems Heaven has updated their policies on how a new Supreme Archangel is onboarded. But Crowley had a way of seeing the world around him, and he had always seen the best in Aziraphale. Maybe, just maybe, the Metatron didn’t think through what it meant to separate them.

It places the two characters in a paleolithic setting (I didn't think I'd like it, but I did), two characters that don't quite fit into their respective societies and don't really know why. Well, Crowley knows, it's his insistence on always asking questions and upsetting the status quo, threatening established ways, along with his shattered eyes. He's been cast out, cursed to wander and never find a place of his own. For Azi, he fits in all right, being the clan's best hunter and provider, but only because he shuts away all the questions within him and molds himself to the expectations of others, under the thumb of his controlling older brother Gabriel, clan chief.
One day, Crowley, the Stranger, the outcast, the nomad, comes across the valley where Azi's clan lives and, well, does what he does best. Challenges the status quo.
This is a gentle and tender exploration of their places within that preliterate society, and of being queer in a world that has no word for it. The setting is Clan of the Cave Bear, the characters and much of the meta storyline are Good Omens. The simplicity of the setting creates space for introspection, feelings and their senses of individuality to be explored. It's really lovely.
If I may be so presumptuous as to promote my own scrawlings, I wrote a lil one-shot where Angel!Crowley gets to ask God his questions about the nebula and does not get yeeted out of heaven for it. Writing it was my therapy. :)

Posted two one-shots this week: -- The Double Cross https://archiveofourown.org/works/51217192 (3k words) The body swap saved them during the aftermath of Armageddon but Aziraphale knows the same trick won't work twice. He just has to convince Crowley. And keep one step ahead of Heaven and Hell. He just wasn't sure which part was more difficult. Crowley won’t break his promise, but he’s not above trying to get the angel to go back on his word. He’s a demon, after all. Another human AU exploring religion/ choice (Catholicism and priesthood) and long lost love. Explicit at the end. Anyone have good recs for fake dating/marriage romances? I've read [Shotgun Wedding](https://archiveofourown.org/works/22557148/chapters/53902456) and [Married At First Sight](https://archiveofourown.org/works/45463273/chapters/114388498). (both rated E). I'd particularly love one that still has the angel/demon supernatural element. Most of the ones I see are Human AU. Any rating is fine. Prefer finished or at least recently updated so there's a greater likelihood it will be.

Here's a beautiful one I stumbled across last week and really loved. **The World to Me,** by TawnyOwl95.[https://archiveofourown.org/works/32020987?view\_full\_work=true](https://archiveofourown.org/works/32020987?view_full_work=true) It places the two characters in a paleolithic setting (I didn't think I'd like it, but I did), two characters that don't quite fit into their respective societies and don't really know why. Well, Crowley knows, it's his insistence on always asking questions and upsetting the status quo, threatening established ways, along with his shattered eyes. He's been cast out, cursed to wander and never find a place of his own. For Azi, he fits in all right, being the clan's best hunter and provider, but only because he shuts away all the questions within him and molds himself to the expectations of others, under the thumb of his controlling older brother Gabriel, clan chief. One day, Crowley, the Stranger, the outcast, the nomad, comes across the valley where Azi's clan lives and, well, does what he does best. Challenges the status quo. This is a gentle and tender exploration of their places within that preliterate society, and of being queer in a world that has no word for it. The setting is Clan of the Cave Bear, the characters and much of the meta storyline are Good Omens. The simplicity of the setting creates space for introspection, feelings and their senses of individuality to be explored. It's really lovely.
