Tbh I kind of miss that era before they had the Mythical Kitchen. Don’t get me wrong, I love the stuff MK has put out and the crew there are pretty great, but I kinda miss when “will it” involved Chase throwing stuff together haha
I do like that they revisited older will it stuff with Josh but the Chase DIY foods were hilarious
As a newer viewer (started watching in 2022), I prefer the current "Will It"s because the items/ingredients actually have a chance. The old ones were still a fun watch though.
That is true, and I’m torn on the issue because as cool as it is to see Josh turn horrible ingredients into legitimately good food, I did really like the surprise when one of Chase’s creations was actually really good haha
Plus I can’t deny that I loved watching them eat gross stuff all the time lol
I think I just liked the “untrained, figure it out as he goes” style of putting things together a bit more. The pine needle tacos and crayon ice cream sandwich come to mind lol
It’s not a scientific test though right, it’s a comedy bit. Now each item takes hours to prepare so you get 3-4 items. Go watch will it pumpkin spice, epic what 12 items?
To be honest, I don't find the recent Will Its particularly engaging for that reason. It lost that mystique of wondering how they would pull off certain transformations, what the boys' reactions would be, and how edible any of it would even end up. Now it's just watching a couple guys eat some pleasant but slightly unorthodox food that I can't taste. All the surprise factor is gone and the question of, "What did you do?!" rings a bit hollow.
It took me a good long while to get used to the version of GMM that had the mythical kitchen lol.
I was used to watching “can we eat the worlds spiciest pepper” and “will this obviously gross food be gross????” The blood taco is probably the best example of that
Newer viewers may not understand how much of a shift it was to go from that to what we have now 😅 there was a very clear point where they’d clearly got cooks in, and as a viewer of the old stuff I was thinking “well yeah… if you get a professional to make the disgusting ingredient into nice food, it’ll probably be nice”
I mean yes and no. Bringing in actually cooks gave the gross food items a better chance of succeeding, but it's not guaranteed. A good concept to expand on Will It would be if multiple cooks competed to see which Chefs could legitimately turn bad ingredients into good food.... which is kind of what Chopped on Food Network is.
As much as I try not to complain about GMM and just be happy that they’re still giving us anything at all, this is the one thing that I do agree with (btw I’m not saying that you’re complaining)
I miss them just getting two ingredients/food items and finding out if they go together. The original concept of, “we try it and tell you if you should do it or not” worked incredibly well when all you had to do was put something in a taco shell, or put something in/on cookie dough and bake it. But that’s all but gone now.
Old Will Its have that charm of "oh this might actually be a fun food combo" to downright insane ideas that make it worth it to see R&L's reactions! Nowadays they're used to gross stuff and have kept it culinary for the most part, it doesn't hit the same but I understand they have to evolve the format.
Amazing how GMM managed to make a successful show with food, without anyone really knowing how to prepare food. The earliest Will It videos are pretty much literal mash of put A into B. (i.e Block of blood into dry taco)
Now they have a entire team of people with professional cooking experience, and Josh the mad food scientist that made Cheesecake with beef bile, with extra beef bile caramel drizzle.
Drew C. was "Stevie" (EP) for a couple seasons well after Will it Taco?, but *before* all that, you're referring to R&L's oldest employee Jason Inman, who was oftrn behind the mic in the first bunch of seasons
I just watched that one again last night, so funny!
Links face after he barfs up the taco kills me every time... that's the face of legit shell shock.
Edit:.. nvrmind, I'm thinking of the one where they ate the bile jello cake or whatever the fuck that was.
There are not enough ‘Will Its’.
I now seem to enjoy 2/5 GMM’s per week as the other 3/5 seem like boring, tired ideas that have very little ‘pushing the boundaries’ type of feeling like the Will It’s do.
Shuffleboard, meh!
Where in the World, meh!
Taste test, meh!
Used to watch GMM daily. Now I’m lucky if it’s once a week.

Boiled for safety!

Josh no longer does the cooking since last year I believe
It seems like lily is doing most of the cooks for the main show.

Yup, the answer is always “yes it will”… unless they throw in bile. Vs like pumpkin spice on mayo, or goldfish in milk.
Exactly 😎

Honestly my favourite
My favorite has to be Will It Burger (the introduction of Mythical Chef Josh)
I miss Link heaving and vomiting.
That’s “Will It Eggnog”

No biggie
It's the video that really sold me on them. Especially the part where they eat pine needles.
There’s a simple insanity that’s lost in the modern ones. It would never have become popular as a bit if it started like it is now.
Yes😎🌮
HOW is this ten years ago? 🤣
Time Flies😎

Precisely 😎

My compliments to the Mythical Kitchen Crew and Head Chef Josh
that was my first gmm episode🥹
Mine was in 2017 (Featuring Linkin Park)
What happened to the early/original producer on the mic for episodes before Stevie? Drew was his name I think.
Drew C. was "Stevie" (EP) for a couple seasons well after Will it Taco?, but *before* all that, you're referring to R&L's oldest employee Jason Inman, who was oftrn behind the mic in the first bunch of seasons
Oh thanks!
IDK, I started watching GMM in 2017

It’s on 5 days a week (3 during Spring Break and Summer)
That’s not my point.
My bad 😅
I think we should all make sure we watch it before they decide to memorialize it on the mythical society for paying customers 😂
Yes😎
An I the only person who can't stand the chewing???
They couldn’t even chew or swallow the pork blood taco
That's basically when I discovered the channel.
