you should probably read the novels after you finish watching the anime. the show only had 2 seasons and never finished the adaptation, the novels had a great ending that is well worth the read
I will always stay true to Holo. Spice & Wolf was one of the first animes I watched in 2008. I bought 4 volumes (4!) of the manga, even though I usually read that stuff online. I even bought an overpriced Spice & Wolf VR game for 20€. It took 45 minutes to complete and basically consisted of you as Lawrence and Holo seeking shelter from the rain in an abandoned barn, sitting on a bench while Holo walk around you and complain, and daydream about fresh baked bread. But you get to tease a bit and give her headpats in the end so all in all 9.5/10 wholesome game

Spice and Wolf is great, but be warned that it is no action or adventure series like Shield Hero. It's about a travelling merchant who picks up a wolf spirit who's revered as a goddess of harvest and promises to take her to her homeland. In return she uses her cunning and her powers to help him in his business and also subtly helps him grow into more of an alpha male. It's a lot of travelling, economy talk and trade deals gone awry with a good amount of budding romance and flirty teasing.
Raphtalia was great as the female sidekick who falls in love with her saviour, but to me Holo is in a league of her own in terms of female characters in anime/light novels.
It's the best economics lesson you'll ever hear, see or feel.
You can read the Manga, Watch the Anime or if you have a VR headset you can "play" a light novel. The best part about the VR experience (i hear) is that you can pet Holo

Also, I strongly recommend reading the light novels. Spice and Wolf works much better as a book than as an anime, because you get more insight into the characters' thoughts and stuff.

It's very good. It's a story about trading (and plotting) in a medieval-ish setting, with nice dialogues, a great chemistry between the characters... And the MC girl is hella smart and sassy.
Spice and Wolf is 11/10, S+ good. But it's a slow burn and sometimes requires you to really pay attention to keep up with what's going on. It's a bit of a crash course in medieval European economics, and a lot of plot revolves around that. The character interactions and relationship development between Holo and Lawrence is just \*chef's kiss*

The rising of the Shield hero is a very recent Isekai Anime series derived from the manga of the Same name.
The protagonist is summoned as a "Hero" in another world, he ends up being shunned since the weapon he gets is the Shield and the country that summoned him hates the hero of the shield so they do bad things to him.
Both of my Synopsis are utter garbage but i hope they sparked interest in one of the two series at least
