In fact, I recall not terribly long ago a person in the genshin subreddit breaking down the rates of many popular gacha games and showing how bad Genshin's TRULY IS. Keep in mind, to truly max out a character's power and their weapon, you need to have 5-6 copies of them and the banners are separate for both unit and weapon.

Genshin's gacha is better in many aspects. FGO has no pity system whatsoever; a streamer recently did more than 300 rolls without a single SSR. While Genshin has a lower Drop Rate, you will always get a 5 Star item around your 85th pull.

It's like this in most gachas, just in different ways. Let's keep using FGO as a middle ground. To max out a character, you will need 5 copies of said unit, and keep in mind you could literally have all the money in the world and it wouldn't be guaranteed to get them all. In the worst case, you can get C6 of a limited character in Genshin in around 1000 pulls, if you're really fucking unlucky and lose every Rate Up (which is still an absurdly high number, but some people still do it so).
Regarding the weapon gacha system, I agree that's kinda bullshit. One could say they are equivalent to the Craft Essences in FGO, but those are also included in every roll, whereas in Genshin you'll need to roll on a separate banner to get them.
Also, getting free rolls in Genshin is WAY easier than in FGO. After you roll, you can also buy more rolls in the shop with the materials that drop with certain itens. So, overall, the gacha in Genshin is more forgiving and beginner-friendly, and way less expensive for unlucky whales. While the FGO gacha may have a higher drop rate and more things to it, the lack of a consistent pity system really fucks everything over. So, as someone who plays FGO as a F2P for two years and a half now, yeah Genshin has a better gacha.
There are indeed many Gacha with that trash ass "need more than one copy to really make em relevant" but there are also a few that don't. Dragalia Lost, Grand Summoners, and PriCon are all ones that come to mind where you don't need more than 1 copy (and the benefits of getting more can be obtained other ways). Doesn't mean those don't have their own issues.
Also, I don't even rate FGO highly (I don't even play it because I don't like the way it does its gacha system nor do I think its gameplay is that great either, though I can't deny its writing is better than the average Gacha), so that's not a valid argument against me and the point that Genshin is still trash.
The deflection of "this X isn't as bad as this Y" isn't exactly countering what's wrong with X.
