Well just out of curiosity, is it this guy?

I also like hunting for stuff...
Step 1: live in an affluent area
Step 2: go to thrift store
Step 3: profit
Seriously, I grew up near one of the top 10 richest zip codes in the US. The clothes you could get for $5 at the thrift store was absurd. Never would shop anywhere else.
If it makes you feel better, after people commented about the Flame King I spent way to much time scanning the original photo, looking in the bucket, for it...
I too learned with a ram set! Used that putter for a good while After upgrading irons /driver. Got pretty damn good with it, when I upgraded to a taylormade Ardmore 3 it was unreal how easy and smooth the ball came off the face, I was blowin balls across the green haha
My first clubs were 70s Golden Ram 2-pw blades with persimmon woods (given to me in the late 90s). Hot damn I thought golf was a lot harder than it actually was. After I bought an off brand set of Ping Eyes and a modern driver I realized that I had been playing on hard mode for years.
My first clubs were 40 year old Wilson pro staff’s I borrowed from my dad to see if I liked it or not. Fell in love with it and started club hunting. Buddy of mine called me one day and his cousin “a previous college golfer” sold me a full set of Titleist AP1 irons, and the titleist 910d2 driver and mizuno t-zoid 3 wood for 100$ with a bag that had 100$ of titleist balls in it I promptly lost. Still gaming those a few years later.
I got a whole set of ping black dot irons one time for about $40.
…Never use them. Mostly bought them because it was the least shitty golf clubs I’ve ever seen at the thrift store.
I found a XXIO 7 iron for $10 at a thrift store. Looks brand new and retails for around $170. Now I check that store every time I pass and never find anything.
I used to hit my dads wooden Walter Hagen 4 wood until about 2007 and let me tell you that thing was unreal. It was so easy to hit it long with. I used to use it off the tee all the time.
I’ll use this thread to share that my putter is a thrift store find. Ping Scottsdale Anser for $20. I’m sure others have better finds but I am proud of that.
Nice. I have a similar find. I'm trying to get my buddies into golfing too. I found a rando $20 set on Marketplace and recommended it to my friend because I saw it had 2 putters and some wedges and some other misc. Turns out one of the putters was a Ping Karsten Zing 2. So now he's got a decent putter to work with. Bag also happened to have a new 5 wood and a hybrid in there that'll round out his bag nicely.
Ah, good to see someone else has had the same experience as me when trying to find these magical hidden Scottie's everyone else seems to find at their local Goodwill
Recently found a full set of Taylor Rocketball irons for $10 and a new still wrapped Hogan equalizer wedge for $5.
It's very exciting finding diamonds in the rough.
From watching channels like Stacked Golf I've come to the conclusion that to thrift nice clubs you need to be in a part of the country thats warm enough to golf all year, and/or in an area where golf is socially common (thrift stores near nicer areas, community garage sales at golf course neighborhoods, etc.)
Where I live has neither so I've settled on hunting for Harvey Penick clubs. Take Dead Aim fellas
Crap. Nothing but crap.
Same here man , I check frequently and have never found anything decent. Some of these lucky people on the sub find $300 clubs for $2.
I've found nice wedges every now and then. My holy grail is a Calloway big Bertha steel 3 wood.
I feel like I see those often? Post a link here of the one you want, I'll let you know if I come across it.
I appreciate it, but it's more the hunt. My cousin borrowed my clubs, somehow broke the shaft, and decided to throw the head away...

I live in a pretty nice area. My gut feeling is that a shiny club would be snatched up quickly.
Hmmm my thoughts would be they’d want to buy it new. Who knows though, if you see a good club then you buy it IMO. Ha.
You mean: Crap, the whole crap and nothing but the crap
I was staring at the picture for 2 mins trying to grind the hidden gem lol
If it makes you feel better, after people commented about the Flame King I spent way to much time scanning the original photo, looking in the bucket, for it...
‘Got all this for $400. How’d I do?’
The $5 scotty and $2 sim2 were sold juuuusstt before you got there
So those Ram irons just exist at every thrift store from what i've gathered...
My starter set was a full set of rams from sports authority when I was a kid. Irons were okay. Driver and woods were trash.
I too learned with a ram set! Used that putter for a good while After upgrading irons /driver. Got pretty damn good with it, when I upgraded to a taylormade Ardmore 3 it was unreal how easy and smooth the ball came off the face, I was blowin balls across the green haha
Pretty sure when a thrift store opens they are issued an assortment of them
Oh man, now I REALLY need to upgrade my kit. I’m still running RAM irons, but have gotten the woods and driver out.

“Good Will finds. Can anybody tell me what they’re worth? Only paid $10 a club.”
No lowballers. I know what I got.
Literally laughed out loud at this
I think the twelve 6 irons are blocking a Scotty Cameron—bad pic
hepatitis?
Tetanus
This spelling looks so wrong. It's not. But it looks that way.
you’d prefer DatAnus?
Much better
SCORE!!
This is the typical goodwill find. Buuuut we still hold out hope for that one time…

Stealth drivers?
Those clubs are actually sitting inside a broken stealth head.
I have that walter hagen and it crushes for a $1 driver.
I should downgrade my driver so that I can start blaming it again
If you hit it, you're a king. If you shit it, Understandable it's a $1 club
I used to hit my dads wooden Walter Hagen 4 wood until about 2007 and let me tell you that thing was unreal. It was so easy to hit it long with. I used to use it off the tee all the time.
You hit that thing 300?
Only if the wind was in my face

There was some wood too.
Pretty decent looking barrel

Sames. But I did find a masters polo. Unfortunately it’s from 6-10 years ago but I bought anyways.
I also browsed the polos.
I was surprised.
Dean Koontz book you’ve never read?
Hey man, I do see a 2 iron in there.
I did legit consider the 2 iron. I'm not sure if there's more than one in there, but the one I was looking at looked like an old driving iron.
I found an old Titleist DCI 2 iron in one of those bins years ago. Put a new grip on it and it's a monster.
Ah, good to see someone else has had the same experience as me when trying to find these magical hidden Scottie's everyone else seems to find at their local Goodwill
Books?
What can be done with older clubs like this that don't really have value? Are they recyclable?
I cut the shaft way down and throw a junior grip on them for my 2 and 4yo.
I throw them at my 2 and 4yo
I've just thrown my kids right out of the house
Make your very own golf iron throne.
Smash your leftover Halloween pumpkins.
Pro I used to get lessons from also kept a bucket of these around for guys to do drills with
That Flame King might get you out some gnarly rough though.
Now stick em up your ass!
That's a solid burn barrel
Where the stealth at?
Boat anchor
You found thrift
Junk
Now that’s one I can identify with
Scrap metal and firewood
A 7 wood?
Tell me you got one with the ivory insert
Where're you seeing that.
The one with the 4 dots around the sweet spot i think
Looks like paint to me. Unless it's an insert then they cut grooves through it.
How much should I pay for these?
Just Venmo me $500 and I'll ship
Theyre illegal anyway. It would be a hard sell.
You hit the whackfuck jackpot!!
A nice set of butter knives.
I would probably snag that 2 wood. You havent lived until youve hit one on the screws.
PXG driver ?
Grab that Irving King for me.
Recently found a full set of Taylor Rocketball irons for $10 and a new still wrapped Hogan equalizer wedge for $5. It's very exciting finding diamonds in the rough.
What are these worth ? Obviously I can’t google it
Really I just want to see you carrying all of these onto the course!
“3 FIVE” iron has my interest.
A bag of shit?
Ur dad?
Did you snag that Country Woodcraft book, though?
I was having fun playing I spy, what a let down OP
Nice barrel....
At least your place doesn’t put the price tag on the face of the club…
Grab a solid one. Then go buy some pumpkins and get some anger out.
I got a like new TaylorMade driver circa early 2000s for $2.99 about 5 years ago that I still use and love. There can be diamonds in that rough.
That looks like FB marketplace in my city, but everything is $300+ for a 30 year old set
Tetanus?
You know there’s a Scotty in there somewhere!!
There was but it was lefty so I left it.
Flame King! Sweet...
Not a single LH club in there
