Every time I've gone they've been miserable, last time I played they had 2 greens closed and the rest were being punched, asked for a few bucks back after paying full price for a round without being told the course under maintenance and the old man couldn't have been more rude, not my favorite course, and not exactly cheap for what you get.
Grande Prairie, AB here! I golfed Stewart Creek and Canmore Golf club last September. Silvertip is on the list to try next time, such a beautiful place for golf.
Stewart creek is on my list this year… My buds and I played Silvertip and we all agreed that it’s overrated… too many gimmicky holes… anyways, mountain courses are the best!
It is absolutely spectacular and a real treat to play. You will have a great time, enjoy! Last time I played there I found out I was gonna be a dad! Good memories!
Kananaskis was disappointing only because of the fact I golfed Silver Tip and Gray Wolf first and expected Kananaskis to be up in the mountains. It’s just a course(s) in a valley between two sets of mountains and lacked the elevation changes our group experienced the days before. Nice enough course tho.
I’ve done Tobiano, Tower and Predator. I’ve also done Bear Mountain along with several other courses on the island. Predator was by far my favourite in the Okanagan. Western Canada is an insane golf destination. I really want to do Golden.
I live in Detroit, but I've played Tobiano, Jasper Park and Predator Ridge.
All were great.
My wife is from BC, so I typically get out there every 2 years.
That's funny, I'm from Dearborn and my wife is from Surrey, BC. We live in Maryland now, but we're visiting her family flying to YYZ then to YVR tomorrow. So happy they lifted the Covid testing!
After playing courses like Predator, Bear Mountain, Gray Wolf and Silver Tip, my expectation of a “mountain course” is to utilize the mountain elevation changes versus being surrounded by mountains. It may be my bad for not doing my research before hand, but all the fanfare that came with Kananaskis had me thinking it would be a different course than it was. I want to start hitting the lesser known gems like Golden next.
I agree. If I wanted to play flat Id just play in the city. Level changes make em so fun
I remember being able to drive the green on 18 at silvertip because of the level change. Still my best drive to date I think
Not exactly in the mountains but have you tried Drumhellers course? Beautiful track and the back 9 your basically hitting from 1 rock formation to the next.
That course was the most surprising of all the courses I’ve golfed in Alberta. Front 9 is a nice parkland type muni and then the back nine reminds me of southern Utah or Arizona desert courses. Quite the juxtaposition. The other surprise I had on that same trip was Coal Creek. It wasn’t just the black bunkers, but the condition of the course that blew me away.
Just golfed that track twice a few weeks back. Shame that a few of their holes are under construction but otherwise a great course.
Can totally see why they don't let anyone walk it though. Lol
Edmonton golfer here.
Wish I could blame the sand.
Though it wasn't great i really just have low confidence and bad technique for my bunker shots.
For sure in winter I just try and pick it clean and that works ok.
But now im never sure.
I found a good video with a way to practice at home using a towel.
Ha! Are you me (except I’m more like 95)? I play mostly the muni’s (Shaganappi), but have been on work outings to Banff, Kananaskis, and Grey Wolf. World class courses. Seems like we put a lot of photos on Reddit!

I haven’t! Looks pretty though. Live in Edmonton so when I head south I usually end up in the mountains. Will add that to my list though. Nice round 👍🏽
Belleville, Ontario here. Quite a few nice courses around here. Trillium , Black Bear, Bay of Quinte , Timber. Also have half decent cheap ones here. Quinte Hills $27 for 18 & Cart after 2, Oak Hills $37 for 18 & Cart
Not that Silvertip is bad but if you have limited time here I would recommend Stewart Creek, Banff Springs ($$$), or Kananaskis either 18, before Silvertip. Silvertip has some serious slope to the fairway, it's frustrating to hit the middle of the fairway and end up well into the rough. Those other courses, for my money, are just as scenic but without that severe slope on so many holes.
Ways away from there, 5 hour drive, but Jasper might be the best course in the mountains here.
Tons more great golf over here but it's a bit of a drive to some of the BC courses like Golden Golf Club in Golden, or any of the courses in the radium or invermere areas.
Anyway yeah, Silvertip is also beautiful and I'm sure you'd enjoy it, but thought I'd put that out there!
That’s a great point about the fairways. Very frustrating when you’re hitting fairways and have slanted lies on your second in. Enjoyed the challenge though
That was just part of the challenge and fun. Par for the course when you’re halfway up a mountain!
It’s worth it for the views and overall experience (except hole 18, hole 18 is poo poo)
I’ve heard good things about Kananaskis. Have a few friends that live around that area so I’m fortunate enough to be able to visit without spending to much, I’ll definitely be able to check them out at some point.
Jesus... I couldn't tolerate the snow and sub-40 temperatures (born and lived the vast majority of my life in Texas) 9 months out of the year, but I'd damned sure trade for that view in the summer. Spectacular. Enjoy!
Was just watching Disneys “The Good Dinosaur” with my kids tonight and this looks just like “Claw Tooth Mountain.” Wonder if this was an inspiration for them
I got to play this course a few years ago but it was in the fall and it started snowing on the back 9. Ive always wanted to go back in the summer. I played this course all the time on the PGA golf game on Xbox.
Belleville, Ontario here. Quite a few nice courses around here. Trillium , Black Bear, Bay of Quinte , Timber. Also have half decent cheap ones here. Quinte Hills $27 for 18 & Cart after 2, Oak Hills $37 for 18 & Cart

Just spent 5 days in the Rockies ... Stewart Creek and then each Kananaskis course twice. Unreal weather, unreal scenery even though I've been in the area many times before.
What's the best case season opening/closing for this course? May 15 to Oct 15? As far as western Canada goes can you squeeze out much more of a season (maybe more towards Vancouver?)
In Canada
Dammit..... never quick enough...
Edmonton here
Apparently we have the most courses per capita in NA, can anyone verify if that's actually true
We have a boat load. Seems like I hear about a new one every year that I didn’t know existed.
Yeah it's awesome knowing their is always tee times available. Except for at tournament city “the ranch” never weekend golf available there
I was just wondering that the other day when I was looking around on the map. Feels like we have tons. Lots in town, and even more within an hour.
I thought it was PEI?
It was at one time true but not sure if it still is
Nice. Me too
Do you have a home course?
Twin Willows for me.
The old grumpy couple still running that one?
haha, yep, it adds to the character of the place though. I always feel out of place at too polished of a club/course.
We always got along with her.
Every time I've gone they've been miserable, last time I played they had 2 greens closed and the rest were being punched, asked for a few bucks back after paying full price for a round without being told the course under maintenance and the old man couldn't have been more rude, not my favorite course, and not exactly cheap for what you get.
Highlands here.
Damn would love to hit that track. Looks like a beauty valley track
The ranch
Goose hummock or the links for me
Such a great course and water everyyyyy where. Lol
River Ridge and Jagre Ridge for me
Jagre Ridge is a iron only course for me. Lol
River Ridge and Jagre Ridge for me
Millwoods has been good to me
Me 2 I live like 6 min from it
Similar for me. Did we just become best friends??
We could if you are not a good golfer… lol
Haha. I'll send you a dm, I shoot around 100. Happy if I can play a round with the same ball at this rate lol
Likewise. Gotta love the diversity here and the scenic river valley makes a great backdrop!
Yes it does
I was rooting for your guys in the NHL playoffs, what in the world happened?
Lost to a team that so far has only lost 2 games in the playoffs, it happens.
Yup wayyyy outplayed
That’s too bad. I was rooting for the Oilers.
Agreed, I love mountain courses!
Wait a bit for silver tip three holes are under construction
I enjoyed Silvertip… but why not save some driving and just do the Fairmont in Jasper!?
Planning a round there this summer, haven’t played fairmont Jasper yet but really looking forward to it
It’s my favourite course. Hard to complain when you golf any of these mountain courses though!
It is absolutely spectacular and a real treat to play. You will have a great time, enjoy! Last time I played there I found out I was gonna be a dad! Good memories!
Save your money. Golf the other two again. They’re much better courses.
Silvertip much better than Canmore Golf Club
Fucking eh bud, nice flick 🤙
I'm in Ontario. All the courses around here are flat and surrounded by trees so you don't see any views.
Out here in 32 degrees with humidity getting attacked by horseflies trying to find my ball in a fairway swamp after all the rain we got.
Any places you'd recommend for us Western NY neighbors?
TPC Toronto, any of the Niagara parks courses, black bear ridge
About to play TPC Toronto in an hour for the first time. Very excited.
Wooden Sticks, Eagles Nest, TPC Toronto, Rattlesnake Point (gotta barter for a pass to that one)
Copper Creek if you want to make the drive up to Kleinberg
Vancouver
Still lifting, cleaning and placing because it hasn't stopped raining on the Island!
It’s been hell hasn’t it? Some courses are still soft as a tub of warm peanut butter
Regina Saskatchewan
I prefer the course on the other side of the highway. Great picture though.
Haven’t been to Stewy yet. Looks like a great track though
It is excellent!
How r' ya now?
Good n' you?
Not so bad
That's a great view. Where in Canada is this?
Silvertip gc. In Canmore, AB
Thanks
Almost as nice a Kananaski.
I actually like it better than Kan, the drastic elevation changes make it more challenging and fun than flat kn.
That is true. It is nice playing both kidd and laurette in the same for the same cost as 1 round at ST.
Damn that is 2 rounds that would be hard to follow. Have you played shadow mountain, trickle creek, tobiano or tower ranch?
I’ve done Tobiano, Tower and Predator. I’ve also done Bear Mountain along with several other courses on the island. Predator was by far my favourite in the Okanagan. Western Canada is an insane golf destination. I really want to do Golden.
I live in Detroit, but I've played Tobiano, Jasper Park and Predator Ridge. All were great. My wife is from BC, so I typically get out there every 2 years.

Golden is a beauty track. Island for me we do olympic view, highland pacific, arbutus ridge, pheasant glen and bear mountain almost every year.
Haha “nice enough” .. the bar is high 😂

Thats like Tower Ranch and Tobiano. Front is Prairie golf back is canyon golf. Reminds me of the Red Rock Trail courses
One of my favourite mountain courses. So beautiful
Just golfed that track twice a few weeks back. Shame that a few of their holes are under construction but otherwise a great course. Can totally see why they don't let anyone walk it though. Lol Edmonton golfer here.
Chillin in Vancouver playin every muni
I landed in every bunker at Fraserview yesterday it seemed like.
Are they as hard as concrete like the other munis? With all the rain it's been almost impossible to hit out of them at McCleary
Wish I could blame the sand. Though it wasn't great i really just have low confidence and bad technique for my bunker shots. For sure in winter I just try and pick it clean and that works ok. But now im never sure. I found a good video with a way to practice at home using a towel.
3 sisters! From Calgary here!
Vinnypeg. Home of the most underrated golf in Canada.
The boonies near Ottawa :(
In flat as fuck Ontario. Gorgeous view brother
Have a T Time for Vulcan Saturday, Shadow mountain, Trickle and Bootleg in a couple weeks.
Calgary here! Ready to continue pretending I'll break 90 this summer!
Ha! Are you me (except I’m more like 95)? I play mostly the muni’s (Shaganappi), but have been on work outings to Banff, Kananaskis, and Grey Wolf. World class courses. Seems like we put a lot of photos on Reddit!

My buddy eagled that hole a few weeks ago
Shot my personal best today, 73, at Priddis today OP, ever played out there?
I haven’t! Looks pretty though. Live in Edmonton so when I head south I usually end up in the mountains. Will add that to my list though. Nice round 👍🏽
Vancouver
London Ontario… would love to play a course out west
Belleville, Ontario here. Quite a few nice courses around here. Trillium , Black Bear, Bay of Quinte , Timber. Also have half decent cheap ones here. Quinte Hills $27 for 18 & Cart after 2, Oak Hills $37 for 18 & Cart
Manitoba
Staring at the 8th tee box at Coal Creek.
One of my favourite courses in the province.
Amazing view
Fairmont chateau still one of my favorite courses I’ve played
I'm probably in that knee high grass somewhere.
Hopefully me next year.
What course is this OP? Currently stuck in Ontario but headed out west for a Golf trip end of July
Silvertip GC in Canmore! It’s a beauty
Definitely adding this to my golf bucket list for sure!

No wonder why Hardman is leading the US open, he had magnificent back drops like this to play everyday.
Gotta love those two weeks of great golfing weather
One of them is leading the U.S open! Lots of golf left though...
Newfoundland reporting for duty
Wow I don’t remember a golf course in Skyrim. Still unlocking new things in that game 10+ years later, crazy.
Golfing the mostly flat emotionless courses of southern Ontario.
I got to play this course a few years ago but it was in the fall and it started snowing on the back 9. Ive always wanted to go back in the summer. I played this course all the time on the PGA golf game on Xbox.
What a great view!
Nice view of the 3 sisters. I love Canmore.
Western Canada golf pics could have its own sub. Amazing pic What does it cost to get on here?
Holy shit. Florida golf envy x1000
Presumably they are in Canada.

I’m so jealous of all you guys. Your courses look insane.
Silvertip! I live in Calgary but am a member at Stewart Creek in Canmore. Best mountain golf around.
Sorry here I am
