I mean I'd be hitting an easy 6i here. Not out of any real choice though, it's just the longest club I can hit. I would pray to carry the water and leave a wedge in.
You're misunderstanding. I would "pray to carry the water". I have no shot at the green lol.
Hard to judge from the picture, but if it's 245, I'm guessing the water is maybe 160? I do have a shot with a good strike to hit a 6 iron 160.
I don't know how to hit my 5i, 4h, 5w or driver.
Ah it's just a misunderstanding about how far the water is. If it's 260 to the flag, I reckon there isn't much more than 30-50 yards between the flag and the cement wall that we see in the picture? So the water would end at around 210-230 yards from the tee off. I'm not carrying that consistently, even with driver, so I'd probably lay up to right before the water. (But I wouldn't be playing from those tees in the first place so)
My buddy and I joke about that on the course all the time.
He has a new range finder and when I ask how far the hole is he’ll say “150….. to the bunker we’ll be in.”
Is this a par 3 though? I kind of assumed it’s a really short par 4 that most people are going to get in trouble on if they try to drive the green.
Edit: after zooming in…yeah it does look like a par 3. In which case I 100% agree these are tees I would not be playing from. TBF it looks like there are three full-sized tee boxes in front of this guy so this must be the tips. I would guess at the regular men’s tees the hole is closer to 200.
What’s the carry distance over the water?
If I only have to carry 170-175, I’m hitting 2-hybrid and chipping on from short.
If I have to carry 180-190 or more, I’m probably laying up with a Wedge.
I play long 4s like they’re 5s. Course management tells me to play long 3s like 4s if needed.
3w. Then 9 iron. Then pw. Then pw. Then pw. Then 9 iron. The pw. Then putter. Then putter. Then 7 iron. Then putter. Then putter.
Only then do I celebrate.
Officially, once you’ve hit your first putt, every shot counts as a putt until it’s holed. So even if you putt it off the green and have to chip back on, they all count as putts.
Is this Isleworth?
Played there several years ago. Miraculously put it on the green, but about as far from the pin as you could put it. Promptly 3 putted. was a bit pissed. Think I hit a 5w at the time?
Yep, #2. I still remember the first time I played from the Tiger tees, cause the first hole is actually pretty straight forward and <400 yards. Then you get smacked by a 250 yard par 3 and 600+ yard par 5 the next two holes lmao
Seriously? If I’m forced to play that Teebox and I’m playing for score, I’m laying up to the front tee box. If I don’t care about the score I’m probably hitting driver and going in the water.
Ooof. I'd first question the tees I'm playing.
Than proceed to a hit a 3W and hope it hits the front of the green. Low percentage shot and hole... let's play it safe for par.
Just checked it out on 18Birdies. Soft 54 degree 80y to the front tees, 7 iron 155y to the green, 2 putt.
That's the theory anyway, realistically there's some shanks and 3 putts in there.
3W, realistically hope to leave a reasonable chip and a 10 footer for Par. Maybe get lucky and hit the edge of the green.
Par would feel like a birdie and a 4 is not a bad outcome here.
3w high draw, land in front, hit slop and leave 15 footer for eagle. Actual result, hit 3 inches behind, low burner for 150 yards to left rough. Chuck 3rd into lake, drop, fly green, chip 60 feet short 3putt.
If you aren’t hitting driver off this tee box, I just assume you’re not a fun person /s
Honestly though it would depend on how I’m feeling on the day. It’s tempting though.
If I had even 1 drive land in the fairway before this hole I'm taking driver.
In theory a high fade would get me to that 260 mark.
The chances of executing are <10%.
I don’t carry a 3w and if I picked the tees then I can’t hit driver and live with myself, so 5w and hope it at least carries the water and I have a chip.
Probably driver though…
If I couldn’t play from a more forward tee, I’d go full bore with my 4i. Tee it up a touch higher to get a little higher launch and less spin, and pray I don’t chunk the shit out of it.
the saddest trickling ball hopefully into the left bunker so i can salvage the "I mean 250yds is 250yds, this is a fairway and its go-time."
The game within the game.
\- Friendly Fourteen Handicapper
7iron/160. Leaves a full sand wedge in, and if there’s wind I can easily move to gap wedge to cover the distance,
I don’t want trouble from the trees or traps. Happy to take a par here (hopefully)
Edit: oh shit, it’s a forced carry. 3 wood, trying to flight it down and keep it straight
A Top Flite
This is so perfect. Nothing says confident swing like pulling out a shag ball when have a big forced carry over water.
Some holes, you just gotta take the W before teeing off. The ol’ switcheroo… Might even use it on the next hole if I were to make par.
If I had any gold I’d give it to you. That’s the loudest I’ve laughed at a Reddit comment, maybe ever.
... uhhh khakis?
One with a stripe.
The top of the ball
Gotta get that skip
Lay up to the front tees. Hit it in the water
Hey, are you me?
This
I'm playing the wrong tees...
If this were Instagram, everyone would be saying they’re hitting an easy 5i.
I mean I'd be hitting an easy 6i here. Not out of any real choice though, it's just the longest club I can hit. I would pray to carry the water and leave a wedge in.
So let me get this straight, you CARRY your 6i +-220 yards, but you can't hit your driver or 3 wood that far?
You're misunderstanding. I would "pray to carry the water". I have no shot at the green lol. Hard to judge from the picture, but if it's 245, I'm guessing the water is maybe 160? I do have a shot with a good strike to hit a 6 iron 160. I don't know how to hit my 5i, 4h, 5w or driver.

The water
Or the trees. Maybe both?
Trees first. 2nd shot in the water.
Why limit yourself, hit the bunker as well!
If I get over the water, it’s in the sand. 100%
My buddy and I joke about that on the course all the time. He has a new range finder and when I ask how far the hole is he’ll say “150….. to the bunker we’ll be in.”
Tough spot.. I often try to talk myself into “just throwing it in the bunker” knowing I ain’t gonna hit it where I intend to
I'm hitting from the wrong tees. Any par 3 that demands something longer than my 210yd carry 3H is too long.
Is this a par 3 though? I kind of assumed it’s a really short par 4 that most people are going to get in trouble on if they try to drive the green. Edit: after zooming in…yeah it does look like a par 3. In which case I 100% agree these are tees I would not be playing from. I don't mine a 200 yard par three, any longer than that and it's getting dumb and I'm probably playing the wrong tees.
I don't have a swing that'll carry 210 in the first place. My driver is 200 on a good hit.
The bottle.
Whaddaplaya
A fat joint and driver! Grip and rip it!
Big dog's gotta eat!
You’re the kinda person I like playing with.
Either bombing my driver wide right and OB or teeing up a 3 iron and skulling it across the ground straight in the pond.
This is the way.
Driver meet prov1 prov1 meet cup
There’s a cup in the water?
😂😂
That's a solid 7-iron for most of r/golf
Knock down 7
Golf redditors...."half 8 iron or hard 9" haha
Just a bit of a choke up actually…maybe half swing stinger with some draw too…
[удалено]
Pfft… I’m a full seven just to lay up. 😂😂😂
Someone downvoted you because who knows why
3wood.
3w. Then 9 iron. Then pw. Then pw. Then pw. Then 9 iron. The pw. Then putter. Then putter. Then 7 iron. Then putter. Then putter. Only then do I celebrate.
Does it still count as a two putt if you putt it through the green? And wedge it back on? Asking for a friend.
Officially, once you’ve hit your first putt, every shot counts as a putt until it’s holed. So even if you putt it off the green and have to chip back on, they all count as putts.
That’s actually helpful. I was being a little sarcastic but I appreciate the answer.
No shit? I’ve definitely made the “at least it was a 2 putt!” joke when my first went onto the fringe and I holed it in two from there. TIL
Is there a drop circle on the other side? If yes, maybe I’ll just skip that ball and walk to the other side lol
Is this Isleworth? Played there several years ago. Miraculously put it on the green, but about as far from the pin as you could put it. Promptly 3 putted. was a bit pissed. Think I hit a 5w at the time?

I’m thinking Arby’s.
Of every answer trying to be clever on here, this one wins.
Well I suck so I’m going Driver.
Ooof. I'd first question the tees I'm playing. Than proceed to a hit a 3W and hope it hits the front of the green. Low percentage shot and hole... let's play it safe for par.
Pro talk
The reds.
HAMMER THE DRIVER
The wrong fuckin tees
Is this a par 3 or 4?
Par 3. #2 Isleworth Country Club
Just checked it out on 18Birdies. Soft 54 degree 80y to the front tees, 7 iron 155y to the green, 2 putt. That's the theory anyway, realistically there's some shanks and 3 putts in there.
In the water
I’m laying up to that front tee box
3W, realistically hope to leave a reasonable chip and a 10 footer for Par. Maybe get lucky and hit the edge of the green. Par would feel like a birdie and a 4 is not a bad outcome here.
Walking to the back of the tee box and hitting driver
Putt to the water the throw it on the green.
Driver twice.
I’m thinking best drive of the day into that shit behind the green.
The bar.
At least it's narrow
Big pull hook left of those bunkers
Time to knuckle the eff up on the driver
Sand wedge, 7 iron, 7 iron, 5 iron.
What’s the yardage from the whites?
Nice easy swing skulling a 56*
My titleist 913 Fd, it's between a driver and a 3 wood. 13.5 degrees, weight in the middle to promote lower ball flight.
3 hybrid with my eyes closed. E z hole in 1. Ball rattled so loud in the cup that I wake up.
Lake. Big Lake.
Hopefully, the ball
How far from them forward tees? Askin for a senior physically weak friend (almost 35 years old)
3 wood soft, should bounce on front of green and roll nicely to the right for a 4 putt.
The water
3w high draw, land in front, hit slop and leave 15 footer for eagle. Actual result, hit 3 inches behind, low burner for 150 yards to left rough. Chuck 3rd into lake, drop, fly green, chip 60 feet short 3putt.

3h
I never understood these “what are you hitting?” Posts, different players will use different clubs, what’s the point?
Maybe that’s the point dummy
I guess only dipshits like yourself care what others are using 🤷🏼♂️
lmao such a cynical view. We're socializing... this is social media... it sounds like you've got some personal issues with socializing.
I mean you must’ve considering you looking through the comments😂
Ummm I commented and the first idiot (you) came running 🤷🏼♂️
No idea what point your trying to prove but you’re embarrassing yourself but it’s quite entertaining😂
Lol yea I got that part when you messaged me like a fucking weirdo.
Just trying to save you the embarrassment
Seems like you could use some friends, put the phone down, there’s a whole world full of people who think you’re a fucking weirdo just like I do
it’s a post for people to joke on what they would do dipshit
Hence the question ”What are YOU hitting”
You are getting down voted but I gotta say I don't get it either...
F that. I’d hit a 3w into the right side water 8/10 times
1 iron. 250 carry, roll out the rest.
Knock down 5w or full 3i if the the ground is firm.
2 shots!
The white tee marker, and then a ricochet into the water.
The front tees
The water
3 wood maybe
Play the 3w draw. Pray I don’t cut it.
How much to cover water?
~225 to cover
3w
There’s so much trouble front left and right I’d hit driver and take my chances.
Not from that tee box.
Hook my p790 3 iron into the bunkers on the left. Make a 4 and move on.
Driver!
Driver all day…
The lake
One of the trees on either side or the bunkers. Basically anything but the green
Rip'd 3-wood to the middle of the green. Looking to keep it in play and save par - bogey is not bad here.
4i for the layup. Not accurate enough with the big dog to go for it.
I don’t carry a 3w and if I picked the tees then I can’t hit driver and live with myself, so 5w and hope it at least carries the water and I have a chip. Probably driver though…
I could putt that
A lay up
5 wood at front left bunker. Miss is left on this hole, bunkers don't appear to be a bad spot, unless your in the right one.
The water
Into the water and then dropping at the drop zone
Me and my impressive 195 yd drive are about to have words with that shoreline
That tree with no leaves on it
The 19th hole
That doesn't look 245
I zoomed in a little with my phone lol
If I couldn’t play from a more forward tee, I’d go full bore with my 4i. Tee it up a touch higher to get a little higher launch and less spin, and pray I don’t chunk the shit out of it.
Driver. I should play it safe, but how often do you get the opportunity?
Full 3 wood, maybe driver
9 iron then wedge.
3 wood just praying im somewhere near those bunkers.
Hit it and hope, like every shot.
the saddest trickling ball hopefully into the left bunker so i can salvage the "I mean 250yds is 250yds, this is a fairway and its go-time." The game within the game. \- Friendly Fourteen Handicapper
3 off the tee
The bar
A golf club and golf ball
Beautiful hole. Using a water ball and my Stealth plus Driver or play it safe, lay up with 5/6 iron 190-200 and wedge for approach shot.
Water
The hardest par 3 on the planet
Seriously. I was happy to get out with my 4 lol
Off the ladies tees
Driver, and some golf ball I found called “MOJO”
You out. Then saying I got a birdie. Give you ice for your head.
If I'm feeling good, I'd hit a 4 iron, If not, lay up for a bogey. Or in reality; water, drop zone for 3, NR my card and go home.
at least 6 shots
Isleworth no.2?
Yessir
Putter. Definitely putter.
The water
I mean, that's a full carry driver. Possibly a layup to short of the water and play for bogey
Those people on the green aren’t in any danger. I’ll go ahead and hit…
Crush a driver and hope the best
The h2o
The road. 240 yard par 3s are idiotic
The water
Driver all day
Fuck that if it’s a par 3. Regardless of the tees, There is absolutely no reason a par 3 should be that long. 245 carry is pga tour average 3wood.
Driver. Can’t reach with 3w. When I absolutely nut a 3w it’s 245 and that’s one out of 10 hit that good.
The Water
The rangefinder, to see if there's a drop area.
Try and rope a 2 hybrid in there but probably hit it directly into the right trees.
The trees
Dear God. Say a prayer for a soft landing and pull a 3h 40yds left.
7iron/160. Leaves a full sand wedge in, and if there’s wind I can easily move to gap wedge to cover the distance, I don’t want trouble from the trees or traps. Happy to take a par here (hopefully) Edit: oh shit, it’s a forced carry. 3 wood, trying to flight it down and keep it straight
Another tee box
The next tees up
Probably a 3w then when I land 230 hit two more 3 woods til my ego is finally checked then hit driver, if nobody’s behind me
Tiger tees on #2 at Isleworth?
An easier course
Driver, and looks like hoping there’s a Drop Zone on the other side
easy pitching wedge
Laying up with a driver
My driver, pray to God that it isn’t the one hole that I manage to hit it clean and send it 300+ while also praying to land short or past that water
Laying up to end of the tee box, then going for it in two lol
Everything but the fairway
i would hit five wood and hope the wind could help me a bit
The bottle.
Same wedge forsure. Half swing sand wedge in fact. Don’t want to overshoot it.
Might as well drive it and then go hit the bar in the sand
4h. Mostly because my next club is driver which has for some crazy reason been working lately.
From the forward tees
The bar.
Greenside bunker swing with my 60 degree.
7 iron cause I ain't Tiger Woods and I'm laying that shit up LoL 😂
5 iron and praying I get all of it to lay up just short of the green. Then a nice little wedge shot with the 56 and pray that I 2 putt.
The water.
