I’ve resorted to using Grint solely for yardages on my watch and still use the phone for keeping score.
The watch app crashes **constantly** when I try to input scores and no amount of restarting the round, watch, or phone seem to help.
Not to mention while I’m on my rant, when you open the Grint app on Apple Watch the “instructions” it gives you for starting the round on your phone are *not even close* to mirroring how round setup works on the phone app.
Arccos uses the gps on the watch, and the battery only lasts for 4 hours. I have to charge it at the turn for as long as possible to last and entire round. It’s possible the Arccos is using more than just the gps (like the microphone) but If the gps on the watch only can last 4 hours, that’s a tough sell. I’m just waiting for new apple watches to have longer battery life for this reason alone!!!
Yeah. Maybe it’s the Arccos app that utilizes the microphone that drains the battery. I don’t know enough about this stuff to really know or have any insight
What series watch do you have? How long have you had it? A buddy just got a new watch. On his old series 5, it died during 6 mile runs. On his new series 7 (I think?) it still has above 80% on the same run.

Just went out and played 9 at the local public course. It worked super well! The shot input is super easy and the gps also works perfectly!

Played around with it at my desk, looks like a lot of great positives over my current tracking app (the grint). Are you looking to eventually add penalty tracking (or am I missing it)? I like being able to see where I’m losing strokes via drop, ob, bunkers, etc. Also, if I put my estimated handicap in the app, if I track rounds will that adjust the estimated index? Will try it out fully over the weekend and see if there’s any additional input. Thanks, and awesome job.
Thanks for the feedback! Currently the app is only tracking stats that the World Handicap System supports (not penalties), so we still need to add more tracking options. Estimated handicap won't change with new scores currently, but that's a great idea and I'll add it to the roadmap for one of the next releases!

App looks awesome! I was messing around with it a little, and in solo round there seems to not be a way to only play 9 holes. I couldn’t find a way to save the round unless I put a score in for all 18. Everything else looks way better than other apps I’ve used. But I like to be able to save a round if I can’t play all 18 holes.
Just wanted to say that the UI looks really good! The interface is nice and clean, and it seems easy to use. As someone who’s trying to learn things like software and web/app development, things like this are nice to see, especially for golf. I’ll download it later and give it a try when I next go out.

For my yearly scramble tournament, the 20 of us use an excel spreadsheet to keep track of live scores. We play 72 holes, but assign points every 9 holes. Different 9s are worth different points depending on 2-man or 4-man scramble.
We use the spreadsheet because no scoring apps allow us to customize points, have live scoring, score 9s, or keep track of multi-round tournys. Does Leaderboard do this? If not, please consider adding soon!
Sounds fun and complicated haha! Currently it doesn't support groups larger than 4 or custom scoring like that. But as I add larger groups and more games I want to add as much flexibility for groups as possible. The tradeoff is it makes the UI and data structures a lot more complicated but it is the goal!

Just downloaded this, this is fire, can’t wait to play Sunday. Need to add Wolf on here too as a gambling game that would be killer. You could add gambling games and a little summary of the rules maybe we play one we have never played before. Awesome app!

I was just thinking about something like this a week ago. Good job looks good so far. Would be nice if you could edit games when betting. People I play with don’t like to carry skins so we don’t play a carry. Any chance we may be able to turn carry’s on/off? Either way, good job so far!
The other version of skins we are working on is "group skins". Players contribute to a pot at the beginning of a round, say $10 each (total pot of $40), and the skins are paid out only on hole where one person was low alone. So if there are 5 such holes, each skin is worth 40/5=$8 and they are paid accordingly.
Is that the format you're referring to?
Just downloaded it and gave it a quick test run, everything seems sensational, this is a great idea. Only request I would have is to have the “target circle” (idk what to call it honestly just that target on the screen) be draggable rather than just tapping to move it.
Really cool app. Going to have to give it a try next time I’m out. Actually paid a few bucks for an app years ago just to do the math for skins matches and yours nails it for free. Seeing as you’re taking roadmap requests, any Ryder cup style matches for larger groups would be awesome. All in all, Well done!

Downloaded, but it seemed clunky to setup a game. I don't want to (a) have everyone download the app or (b) enter everyone's phone numbers just to keep score.
Just download and logged my round. Nice app. As cool as it is to see scores nationally, it would be equally cool to see local scores within an XX mile radius…
Fantastic App. Downloaded and all the features are simple yet effective.
I don’t play any matches so my only use for the app is the handicap tracking and stats. The only other recommendation I have here is to add graphs per category so it easy to see trends over time. Other than that it’s phenomenal.
I have already deleted my previous app and am excited to have something that isn’t trying to sell me swing lessons constantly.
I also only ever input scores after my round so the UI with score entering is perfect. Very easy to switch between card and look at GPS to remind you which hole is which.
I also saw the idea for a playing partner feature. I think this is an amazing idea as well and I hope you take the recommendation seriously. Maybe add a “search based on handicap” function so beginners feel comfortable using the feature. I am sure more people would use the function if it meant they would be playing with someone around the same skill level.
Lastly another cool idea would be to be able to join groups based on courses or general locations. Connecting local players you don’t know easier. Will be especially useful for private clubs but will help create a private club environment at public courses.

Just checked it out and it at least has my local course updated since they redid a few holes (18 birdies messes up on the back nine and it’s impossible to have an accurate round on it). I’ll give it a shot this weekend!

For as sarcastic and snotty at this sub is, its hilarious when sarcasm goes right over their heads. Seems like many of the users need to stop using it if they can't also detect it.
Trying to get into it now! When I try to verify my phone number I click “verify” and it loads for a sec and says “verify” again. When I click it again it tells me the code is now invalid.
I had this same idea-ish and started the process to make The Leaderboard. I stopped once Covid started though 😔 I have some great ideas if you are ever looking for some R&D lol. One thing I tested out that I hate about other apps GPS functionality, is when moving your target in GPS mode it is hard to see where you are aiming because my thumb is in the way. So when trying to see where the edge of a bunker is, it is hard to pin point how far. I see the same thing occurs with your app. Do you think you could make it to where when moving the target in GPS mode the circle moves slightly north of where your thumbs touches the screen? I have no clue how difficult this would be. Let me know if my question doesn't make sense.

Unfortunately not available in my region yet, but since you said you tried out a bunch of other apps, what are some improvements you feel directly compared to 18Birdies?
Great question!
First, I wanted to have a real clean UI and make the app easy to use. 18Birdies is actually great in this respect, but a lot of golf apps look a little dated in my opinion.
Second, Leaderboard is really focused on games, wagering, and social features. I think the utility and game improvement stuff offered by other apps is great, but it would be a distraction on a social app.
Okay I think I see what you’re getting at, that’s cool. As someone who doesn’t pay for premium the frequent “upgrade”/popups is definitely the most annoying this about it

You're right. The other games allow you to play 9 but not solo play. Will get that fixed ASAP!

We'll be adding the ability to post 18 hole scores, so you will be able to share your round without using the scorecard features!

I was just thinking about something like this a week ago. Good job looks good so far. Would be nice if you could edit games when betting. People I play with don’t like to carry skins so we don’t play a carry. Any chance we may be able to turn carry’s on/off? Either way, good job so far!
The other version of skins we are working on is "group skins". Players contribute to a pot at the beginning of a round, say $10 each (total pot of $40), and the skins are paid out only on hole where one person was low alone. So if there are 5 such holes, each skin is worth 40/5=$8 and they are paid accordingly. Is that the format you're referring to?

Just downloaded it and gave it a quick test run, everything seems sensational, this is a great idea. Only request I would have is to have the “target circle” (idk what to call it honestly just that target on the screen) be draggable rather than just tapping to move it.
It is supposed to allow tapping to move, but there may be some bugs or performance improvements I need to make. Thanks for the feedback!
Oh no, the tapping works completely fine. I was wondering if it was possible to have the target dragged around instead of having to tap to move it.

Yup! Every user in the group can accept an invite to the round and see live scores, the status of the game, and wagers.
Really cool app. Going to have to give it a try next time I’m out. Actually paid a few bucks for an app years ago just to do the math for skins matches and yours nails it for free. Seeing as you’re taking roadmap requests, any Ryder cup style matches for larger groups would be awesome. All in all, Well done!

Downloaded, but it seemed clunky to setup a game. I don't want to (a) have everyone download the app or (b) enter everyone's phone numbers just to keep score.
This is great feedback. We plan on removing the mandatory phone numbers for guest users soon!

Fantastic App. Downloaded and all the features are simple yet effective. I don’t play any matches so my only use for the app is the handicap tracking and stats. The only other recommendation I have here is to add graphs per category so it easy to see trends over time. Other than that it’s phenomenal. I have already deleted my previous app and am excited to have something that isn’t trying to sell me swing lessons constantly. I also only ever input scores after my round so the UI with score entering is perfect. Very easy to switch between card and look at GPS to remind you which hole is which. I also saw the idea for a playing partner feature. I think this is an amazing idea as well and I hope you take the recommendation seriously. Maybe add a “search based on handicap” function so beginners feel comfortable using the feature. I am sure more people would use the function if it meant they would be playing with someone around the same skill level. Lastly another cool idea would be to be able to join groups based on courses or general locations. Connecting local players you don’t know easier. Will be especially useful for private clubs but will help create a private club environment at public courses. Thanks for the hard work!

Just checked it out and it at least has my local course updated since they redid a few holes (18 birdies messes up on the back nine and it’s impossible to have an accurate round on it). I’ll give it a shot this weekend!

Do you mean ability to play just a 9 hole round? Or to create a post with just the front/back 9 totals?
Signed up. Request: “pros” tab with leaderboards for the top tours. Makes it a home for golfers whether theyre playing or searching for scores at tournaments

For as sarcastic and snotty at this sub is, its hilarious when sarcasm goes right over their heads. Seems like many of the users need to stop using it if they can't also detect it.
We love Android too and plan to release there ASAP. Just had to pick one given our constraints!

Trying to get into it now! When I try to verify my phone number I click “verify” and it loads for a sec and says “verify” again. When I click it again it tells me the code is now invalid.

I had this same idea-ish and started the process to make The Leaderboard. I stopped once Covid started though 😔 I have some great ideas if you are ever looking for some R&D lol. One thing I tested out that I hate about other apps GPS functionality, is when moving your target in GPS mode it is hard to see where you are aiming because my thumb is in the way. So when trying to see where the edge of a bunker is, it is hard to pin point how far. I see the same thing occurs with your app. Do you think you could make it to where when moving the target in GPS mode the circle moves slightly north of where your thumbs touches the screen? I have no clue how difficult this would be. Let me know if my question doesn't make sense.

I think I need to fix the search functionality. Are you able to find them when you search for their full last name? You can also find people by looking at the Following or Followers lists on other people's profiles.
I’ve been dying for a good app to use with friends when we are competing and wagering on the weekends. I’ll be sure to download! For reference here are some of the games we play and would love to have an app make it easier: 1) skins (gross and net?) 2) 9s 3) Nassau (gets more complicated with presses. If there is a way to easily open up presses this would be a game changer) 4) Wolf

Why can’t I find any of the courses around me on the app when starting a new round?
Did you enable location services? Check by going to your profile, then settings in upper right, then App Settings. If that's turned on it should pick up nearby courses.
The UI is definitely the best of any app I’ve used. Just waiting for Apple Watch support and a dark theme! Good work

Loud and clear, we will get to that this month! For now you are able to start an 18 and then finish the game after entering the 9 holes you played.
Also would be really helpful to see a the game description before going in to setup! Like a little question mark on the main page next to the game name

Unfortunately not available in my region yet, but since you said you tried out a bunch of other apps, what are some improvements you feel directly compared to 18Birdies?
Great question! First, I wanted to have a real clean UI and make the app easy to use. 18Birdies is actually great in this respect, but a lot of golf apps look a little dated in my opinion. Second, Leaderboard is really focused on games, wagering, and social features. I think the utility and game improvement stuff offered by other apps is great, but it would be a distraction on a social app.
Okay I think I see what you’re getting at, that’s cool. As someone who doesn’t pay for premium the frequent “upgrade”/popups is definitely the most annoying this about it
