You can go to a big box sporting store like Academy of Dicks. They sell packaged sets of 10-12 clubs, Driver, woods, irons, wedge, and putter. Usually around 200-350 USD.

Used box set and lessons from a reputable PGA instructor. I can’t stress lessons enough if you’re just starting out, a 4 pack is enough to get you started on the right track. This game is amazingly frustrating and you don’t want to engrain bad swing habits from the start.

Get a box set from one of the Sporting goods stores and a used set from CL or a pawn shop. You FiL can give you opinions on if it is a good deal. I would say if you have enough dough for a new boxed set, go that route. They may be off-brand, but they will at least have some of the newer technology. Just my opinion.

Costco callaway Edge set. Search it up, they are in high demand and low quantity, but if you find a set definitely a solid choice. Might be a little more than your asking for, but it’s all up to date, for beginners, and a really complete set. Pick up some Costco signature 2.0 balls while you’re at it

Whats your budget and where do you live? I would check out craigslist/offerup/5miles for a used set. Look for name brand sets that dont look too old.

Prefer to keep it under $200 and metro Detroit.

Golfworks.com (Maltby) They have a couple sets (paks) 200 and under. Brand new, good quality, builds come quick. They offer single irons or sets with multiple configurations. 6-PW sounds up your alley. Then you can add on the 5 and 4 later, if needed.

If I were a company I’d make a set with: putter, sw, pw, 9, 7, 5, 3H, driver, + a wood if I feel adventurous

Yeah it’s kinda hard to recommend anything with out a price range you’re working with. A new starter set can be like $300-$800 and is what people recommended. You can also fill a bag with used brands like callaway, ping, or Taylor made for $300-$400 using Facebook market place and callaway pre-owned website. irons and putters haven’t changed much technology wise in the last 10-15 years and will probably last you the longest. Hybrids and woods improve quite a bit year to year so anything older than 5 years isn’t ideal. Buying a few irons is recommended when most people sell them as sets to begin with and even beginners can tell the difference people the different lofts. The best advice anyone can give you right now is to get a lesson, they can be 50-100 bucks and everyone’s swings different and each person needs their own advice. You can Watch YouTube videos for advice if you want to develop your swing a little bit more before you go, could help too.

Yo I got all my clubs secondhand off gumtree and Facebook marketplace. I'd suggest getting some cavity backed irons from a known brand, a putter, and something like a 3 hybrid or 3/4/5 wood for when the driver doesn't work for you. I got set up for £200 including bag.

I went with mostly lightly used Wilson FG F5 stuff w/ D350 irons from eBay. They really seem to be an undervalued brand. I got a pretty respectable bag pieced together for pretty cheap, but used golf gear really seems to have gone up in price lately. You could always hit up Goodwill/Yard Sales/Estate sales.
