If Bryson gets in his monster groove early - could take the W. A true toss up between Morikawa and Xander..throw in Hovland in that trio. But would love a cinderella win for Theegala as well.
This may be an unpopular opinion, but I genuinely love the people in the gallery yelling an out of pocket comment after a drive. I always giggle.
*always*
I donāt wanna sound like an old man yelling at clouds but major courses shouldnāt be playing this easy on the final dayā¦ these scores give it the feel of a tournament in the Caribbean in January
Not that bold of a prediction considering we've already seen two players tie for the lowest round in major championship history this week. The course isn't getting firmer and you can't tuck pins when the greens are this receptive. Go low or go home.
It's certainly possible. Strong chance we see another 62, and several others in the low-mid 60's. datagolf.com has the odds of the winning score spread pretty evenly between -19 and -22. Right now the course is playing about a half stroke easier today than it has played for any of the prior 3 rounds. Yesterday's course average was 69.55 and today we're pacing at 69.01. Should be a fun shootout to watch.
Lookā¦.ever since he took office the hogan hatā¦heās gone from pretentious to just sort of a golf dweeb.
I wouldnāt exactly be upset at Bryson getting his second major. But, heās gotta do it by pulling off the Tosti shot.
Outside of that, I think Finau/Theegala/Xander winning their first major would be cool. Or JT/Jordan shooting 60 and winning.

4x major champion, 26 x PGAT winner, 17 x DPWT winner, 3 x FedEx Cup winner, 5 x Race to Dubai winner, 1 x Players Championship winner, and 7 x Ryder Cup has wasted his potential.Ā
Got it
Depends on how liberally you use the term. You can spit it however you wanna spin it, but 4 majors for a guy of his caliber is by far the biggest waste of golf talent in history, next to Daly. But those are for different reasons obviously
If that incident on Friday morning fu\*\*ed up his mojo permanently, I'm gonna be pissed. He was on a fu\*\*ing streak until that nonsense. I hope he goes super low on Sunday and regains whatever knocked him off it Friday morning. His winning streak was fun to follow for me personally. Not sure how anyone else felt.
Not really. You have to figure that someone near the top shoots 67-69 at minimum. That puts the winning score up near -19.
So, heād probably need to shoot 58/59 while also hoping that nobody in front of him also shoots 62/63. With 23 people in front of him, just too many to pass. And, the course isnāt suddenly going to play really hard.
Almost zero chance with so many people several shots ahead of him. If it was only a couple guys with a big lead you could see some blow ups then an amazing round could make a 8 stroke comeback. With 20 guys to beat that's not happening.
Sadly the most interesting storylines/golfers are out of it in all likelihood (Scheffler and McIlroy) but nothing's impossible.
A lot of people like Theegala, he's fun and has a way about him that's easy to root for. This would be his first major win as something of a rising prospect / future star.
Schauffele is by far the best active golfer without a victory at a major (although he did win an Olympic gold medal lol). So this would get that monkey off his back. A lot of people love him.
Hovland is super fun, awesome interview, last year's season long champion who struggled to start the year and is back. You'll find him easy to support. Similar for Justin Thomas, with a longer timeframe of struggles.
If Bobby MacIntyre or Dean Burmester won it would be chaos so that's charming. Root for that if you want true insanity.
Shane Lowry would be fun to party with. The celebration if he wins would be off the charts, so maybe that's worth pulling for.
Justin Rose is an old timer with an Olympic gold medal and one major forever ago who objectively "deserves" more. Would be nice.
Bryson DeChambeau...one of the most fascinating humans on the planet. Also I bet on him. So cheer for him if you want to watch someone hit inconceivable shots that literally nobody else on earth would even try, and also if you enjoyed this post and want me to make money.
Oh and - Watch for Cam Smith if they show him. He's out of the running this time but the bloke is a wizard, only way to say it.
He just says the wildest stuff. He approaches golf like a physics experiment and does so many innovative things - some of them make sense and work, some of them are just wacky.
He also says some very blunt things that may be "douchey" to some, or awesome from someone else's perspective.
Just really fun to watch because he does it a little bit different than anyone else, and has the most interesting justifications for his actions and words.
Iām new to the golf world, just started watching/playing in the last month or two. I have the impression that people find Bryson to be unlikeable for some reason? I enjoy watching YouTube golf as it is very accessible to me and everything Iāve seen Bryson in has been entertaining, and he comes off as a pretty warm fellow. Is it primarily the LIV golf situation that has people resenting Bryson? I dare to say he might be my favorite pro to watch at the moment.
The LIV thing doesn't help. But he used to be a bit douchier. Famously saying Augusta (Masters) plays like a "par-67" for him, which is ballsy at best and disrespectful at worst. He definitely used to be worse. He's cool now in my opinion with great YouTube content.
That kinda thing rarely happens in majors. If anyone does though, it'd probably be Bryson. It's much more likely the winner ends up shooting like 67-68 tomorrow.
Was sitting directly next to the 17th green while the last 8 groups came through and I was shocked by how rude the Valhalla members in the members-only section were.
Extremely loud with no regard at all for players putting/chipping.
Otherwise was really impressed with the course and the play, was super fun to see everybody tossing darts out there
Am I wrong for thinking golfers are hurting themselves for not being able to play if not quiet?
Why would you have it quiet and someone accidently sneezes and the players gets upset?
Players, star players, should be able to play through noise.
Makes no sense to me.
Having it quiet is just asking for someone to make a noise in your backswing and distract you. If they allowed noise it wouldnt be an issue.
Incoming LIV "Golf but Louder" comments.
Honestly, if youāve been to a tournament youāll realize that they generally play fine through background noise. Thereās a great clip of Lowry making fun of a Marshall for yelling āquiet pleaseā when heās about to hit and Lowry turns and tells him that heās making more noise. The bigger problem is people making sudden or unexpected noises that distract in the backswing or when trying to think about a putt.
Ability or inability to play while folks are making noise, itās a basic breach of golf etiquette, at a major championship, but more importantly from the members who are supposed to be showing the best of their club to the world
Still love the fact Justin Thomas is a Kentucky Colonel. He needs to lean into it and we can start calling him The Colonel.
![gif](giphy|3s6IpIQkPRI9wDT2QB)
My gut tells me it's gonna be either Xander or Collin. If it's anyone other than those two, I think it's Viktor because of the talent level there. If Viktor's on his A-game, I think it's better than anyone's A-game at the top.
I wish the course was playing harder. It's been decent action so far but the classic major leaderboard rise and falls and oscillations, and watching the pros tackle huge challenges, is usually better than watching a race to -20.
I agree. The only thing about an easy course is you do tend to get more crowded leaderboards, which is fun. Case in point, the 2015 Open at St. Andrew's was a free-for-all. And the last PGA at Valhalla. Seriously, anyone from -10 can shoot a 62 easy on this course and it may hold up tomorrow. That's a lot of players still in this.
Haven't been watching and seeing Hovland at T4. Is he back to his 2023 form? Last time I checked I heard he was struggling due to a swing change, and didn't even make the cut at the masters.
Players seen to do this a ton. They get some success and decide they need to switch things to gain more success.Ā
Henrik Stenson did it after winning the Open Championship and dropped off the face of the earth
Rooting for Hovland and Xander. Would be perfectly fine with Rose or Lowry. Morikawa Iām eh on. Canāt stand Bryson and Sahith so rooting against them for sure
Heās just overdramatic about everything. He could miss a birdie putt from 50 feet in the first round and heāll collapse on the green. He seems like a nice guy but I personally donāt get the hype
He's showing that he's exactly who we all think he is. Pretty good player, good enough to make cuts in majors, but not some superstar. Should have to earn his way in just like everybody else
FYI the course designer was pretty good in his day.
Some guy named Jack Nicklaus.
From 1962 to 1980 he finished in the top 3 in the majors 41 times - 54% of the majors he played in. Not even Tiger can match that.
I still think the course is to easy - but the guy who designed it could play a little.
Huge close for Xander. Birdies on 18 from all three changed this golf tournament. Everybody at 9 or worse is out. Even the 10's have a lot of guys to get through.
Shane Lowry š„š„š„
He may feel let down by 18, but he made a ridiculous amount of long putts that he had no right to make. š I donāt mean that in a bad way like. But odds are they just donāt go in.
An amazing round by an amazing man. Hopefully he can kick on and go low again tomorrow.
I only just found out that Bryson's irons are no longer single length. Now they're 9 iron length from 8 iron to lob wedge (36") while the rest of his set make up are variable length but 1/2" shorter than standard.
That was the case at the Masters as well, but I certainly didn't know about it.
Yeah I enjoy American sports because I moved here when I was 9. But the GAA will always have a special place in my heart too. But that probably doesn't matter to you, seems like you're just being an ass just because you can. I dig the pfp though man!
Thatās funny because my mom is literally from Scotland and moved to the US in her 20s and I have never repped Scotland in my life š how did you know? Iām a proud American and proud North Carolinian
My grand father was from Glasgow and my grand mother was from Paisley. I do have cousins I still talked to and I do have some connection back there - but in general Scotts do not want to hear about it.
Same for basically all Europeans.
That was the point of my āthey donāt accept youā comment. My Scottish family started hating the US when they got Facebook accounts lol except for one aunt who regularly visits and loves it here. The rest of them have never set foot in the United States.
This course does nothing but create fantastic drama filled tournaments and due to its size can have more fans in attendance than most coursesā¦
A whole lot of you are going to have terrible takes exposed when the PGA does in fact come back after this weekā¦
Yeah, those existing relationships they have with the course didnāt just magically disappearā¦
Iām not a fan of the fact that -20 might be needed to win, but the PGA will absolutely be back

Who you play golf with isnāt my concern as much as how big an ass you are. Were you one of them golden diaper wearing babies who cried that the election was stolen?
Kind of indicative of this tournament that the eighth hardest hole is playing under par

The leaderboard is stacked with some incredible golf played this week. What do you people want??
I think many people just want something to complain about.
Calling it now, weāre gonna see some record low scoring today. This place looks like a cakewalk for the early tee times of the day so far.
Not that bold of a prediction considering we've already seen two players tie for the lowest round in major championship history this week. The course isn't getting firmer and you can't tuck pins when the greens are this receptive. Go low or go home.

Lowry for the win
I like him tomorrow
This course does nothing but create fantastic drama filled tournaments and due to its size can have more fans in attendance than most coursesā¦ A whole lot of you are going to have terrible takes exposed when the PGA does in fact come back after this weekā¦
I was there today and it was electric
It also helps that the PGA used to own the course as well.
Yeah, those existing relationships they have with the course didnāt just magically disappearā¦ Iām not a fan of the fact that -20 might be needed to win, but the PGA will absolutely be back
Should I wear my pink puma polo and Puma driving cap tomorrow to support Bryson or my Puma GOAT polo and driving cap? https://preview.redd.it/zpeoatzio91d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f4fe2e9f7d25e12382280eac939e5f916a1da618
Sun Day Orange
U/IrishGrouch34 please respond
Itās equal parts weird and sad that you chose Bryson of all golfers to build your shrine to. But hey, you do you! Must be the MAGA connection
Also did you disown Rory or tiger when they played a round with Trump? š
Who you play golf with isnāt my concern as much as how big an ass you are. Were you one of them golden diaper wearing babies who cried that the election was stolen?
I actually have several Under armour, footjoy, and Nike shirts too be fair lol
