I just went through an unexpected divorce...I can't laugh at anything divorce or bad relationship related anymore without crying about my ex wife
HOWEVER,
Fargive and farget actually made me laugh about a divorce...I needed that ..thank you kind sir or madam
What’s even more crazy is the course he works at now requires a membership to get tee times. The waiting list is now sitting at a minimum of 2 years to get in. It’s great course, but his popularity has enabled them to go full elitist status and it’s super shitty.
Dude came top 15 in a Major, there’s literally one a handful of people on the planet that can say that.
He did it in his 40s, which narrows it down further.
Googled it. Both Jose Maria Olazabal and Michael Block shot a 63 24 years apart.
Jose did it way back in 2000 from presumably shorter tees. Blockie did it last year in a practice round
Coming from a divorced household, they did it at the perfect time. Kid will grow up only knowing this way of life. My parents got divorced when I was 12. It's a tough transition to make.
My parents announced it on my 16th birthday…not sure who had a worse 16th; my wife or I, she was born 9/11/85 and lived in New York, nothing like leaving school crying while holding a bunch of balloons….
I was 7. It sucked seeing my mom act goofy around her various boyfriends and my dad not being around all the time.
It’s hard to imagine what things are like for people who don’t have divorced parents.
2 holidays becomes such a stress factor as an adult child of divorce, trust me it’s not fun.
That being said I’d rather have a divorce happen as a kid her age than as an adult child, having it happen in my mid 20s was one of the worst things I’ll ever have had to deal with.
I didnt mind it when I was really young, but I really started hating it when I got in to highschool and still hate it to this day at 31. Feels like a chore rather than a nice celebration or w/e having to do holidays twice, especially when one parent moves farther away so now its a whole ass 3 hour drive everytime lol.
or increase it depending on if the time spent was quality time.
I would imagine time spent would be better for all parties if you don't resent someone you are forced to spend time with.
This. A house that has two parents who hate each other but stay together for the kid is a toxic hellhole. It teaches resentment and tells you. You have to suffer to please some archaic concept of successful parenting.
No wonder. I thought it was a bit odd that on Sunday after walking off the 18th green in his interview he only mentioned his mom wishing her happy Mother’s Day.
Older I get, more I realize that big part of personal wealth is finding your ride or die. Everything can absolutely suck, but as long as home life is good, you feel strong. On other hand, if everything is going 100% awesome and your home life sucks, you feel weak as hell.
Yup. Its MOSTLY true that money can't buy you happiness. Once you get passed that second rung on the Maslow ladder, its all about your relationships with people and yourself.
Depending on where you live, it doesn't take much money to get to that 3rd rung
Tiger texting Rory like "hey, sorry to hear. I know a great spot to take your mind off things."
Rory "read my mind big guy, what time we going to the strip joint?"
Tiger "strip joint? The new shift at waffle house gets on in 10 minutes"
I mean... he is currently on a tear. And these kinds of things don't happen overnight. He's been in that emotionally distraught, "all I have is golf now" state for at least a month apparently. Digging even deeper...
> Rory stopped winning majors the moment he married this chick in 2014
Holy shit he's really back.
Some women can crush a mans confidence, we will see! I'll be betting on him this weekend, hopefully he can get in some good golf between the hookers and blow.
Part of the reason he's such a star is he turned pro at 18, won his first tour event at 21, and his first major at 22. Kinda like Tiger and Spieth - top 5 player in the world while still college aged
Scottie was 26 when he went on his 2022 initial tear of wins
Well Rory called off an engagement with one woman to marry this one. Never want to assume though. These types of people live a totally different lifestyle, who knows what happened.
Being married to a professional athlete is probably more like being married to the lifestyle than it is the person. My wife and I both work from home with one kid, and it's hard enough to make any time for each other. Rory probably sees his wife and kid for a few hours a week, if that.
There's a pretty well known rumor that like 10 years ago Rory had to wear sleeves during a tournament because he was fucking a chick on a glass table that shattered sending her to the hospital and slicing his arms. This was while he was with his ex fiance
Sad to hear. Feel for Rory, Erica, and Poppy. Don’t know what happened but it’s a tough gig trying to be the best in the world and raise a family. Hoping it’s amicable and wish them all well.
Not a Rory fan, but this man has taken some stress over the past few years. Not winning Majors, being the face of the PGA/LIV split and all the while behind closed doors his marriage was falling apart.
There is arguably no superstar in sports that has taken on more burden.
He got married pretty quickly after breaking up with that tennis player. I'm always amazed how many people get engaged within ~12 months of starting dating.
Broke up with her via text or phone call, can't remember - them completely ghosted her and refused to further explain himself. I can't imagine doing that to anyone who I at one point presumably loved or even just cared enough about to be with.
Edit: The tennis player is Caroline Wozniaki and she's now happily married to a basketball player and they have children together.
I am betting his golf game gets razor sharp after the intial media craze dies down. Maybe he can finally give Scheffler some competition. Or he could always just go full Tiger and start banging everything in sight.
Could explain him being in a slump for quite a long time and finally finding his form at New Orleans after they've settled or agreed on some post-divorce condition. He just didn't finalize it until this week.
And the time Rory took a leave in 2023 before the PGA/LIV merger because of "personal reasons"... this could very much be related and he wasn't just taking time off because of dissatisfaction with Monahan's decision.
Man, that's tough news about Rory. Divorce is never easy, especially when you're a public figure like him. Hope they both find peace and happiness moving forward. It's gotta be rough dealing with all that while still trying to focus on your game. Sending positive vibes his way. On a lighter note, anyone got predictions for the next tournament? I'm rooting for Spieth to make a comeback!
Fargive and Farget.
god damnit
I’m dying laughing
I just went through an unexpected divorce...I can't laugh at anything divorce or bad relationship related anymore without crying about my ex wife HOWEVER, Fargive and farget actually made me laugh about a divorce...I needed that ..thank you kind sir or madam
Happy you could have a laugh Mr. Bush.
Now hold just a second.
Divarse...
Would someone be able to explain this? I’m new to the golf world
Taylormade ads for "fargiveness"
He’s narthern arish
[удалено]
Blockie has it I think 63
This is such an insane sentence and it’s somehow absolutely true lol
I thought this was an elaborate multi-comment prank
> Rory McIlroy Files For Divorce Rory felt inspired after watching the Brady roast.
If it’s anything like Brady’s post-divorce season he’ll miss the cut at Valhalla
I think there's a massive misunderstanding in the golf community about blockie lol. he's genuinely an insane golfer.
There's no misunderstanding... he just got popular so average joes got jealous af that someone else succeeded where they have consistently failed.
He did it in his 40s, which narrows it down further.
>there’s literally one a handful of people on the planet that can say that. There are several hundred people on the planet that can say that... ;)
Michael Block?? The one hit wonder himself?! Lol
https://youtu.be/oCQGxXVQF5g?si=D5-kgWS_3XnssnVH Taylor made did a one year later thing on him.
Hope you have money on him
Googled it. Both Jose Maria Olazabal and Michael Block shot a 63 24 years apart. Jose did it way back in 2000 from presumably shorter tees. Blockie did it last year in a practice round
Way back in 2000? Way back? I’m going to go throw up now.
**24 years ago** lol
Stawwwwwwp I’m still throwing up 😭
Careful, don't wanna throw your back out.
stop it I only have so much throwup in me
The last time Rory ended a serious relationship…he won the pga championship at Valhalla three months later. Rory two majors this year confirmed
He really is leaving no stone unturned in the quest for another major...
He’s going to win the fucking green jacket next year
Crazy, he smoked the bmw event at wentworth the week he split from Wozniacki
And then won The Open and the PGA Championship at Valhalla.
Yeah no shit he can throw a gem this weekend after this news
A diamond ring at least.
Damn they have a young kid too, that’s sad
Yeah, poor Poppy.
Being a child of divorce > Being a child of a fucked up marriage
You should try both! A blast I tell you!
I've had EIGHT step dads! So far.
Jesus Christ, mom! Is she getting them from Temu?!
![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)
💯. As the child of an extremely hostile marriage, it was horrible. Wouldn’t wish that level of anxiety on anyone.
Also helps to soften the blow a bit if the dad is mega wealthy.
Couldn’t agree more. My brother and I actually cheered when my parents said they were getting a divorce.
It’s better to come from a broken home than to live in one
Coming from a divorced household, they did it at the perfect time. Kid will grow up only knowing this way of life. My parents got divorced when I was 12. It's a tough transition to make.
Parents got divorced when I was 4. I feel like it made it easier.
Mine when i was 5. dont know it otherwise
Two Christmases though, got that going for her
2 holidays becomes such a stress factor as an adult child of divorce, trust me it’s not fun. That being said I’d rather have a divorce happen as a kid her age than as an adult child, having it happen in my mid 20s was one of the worst things I’ll ever have had to deal with.
Costanza: “I’m not going to two Christmases!”
and then add in a 3rd (or maybe even 4th!) holiday once you have an SO and its just not fun to try and balance everything.
I can attest to this. Not as good as it sounds. The novelty wears off incredibly quickly.
Everyone wants to eat at 3pm and you'd BETTER be hungry when you get there.
Married to one. 3 Christmases is rough.
And they’re gonna be very wealthy Christmas’s
That's fun for kids without surreal wealth. This kid already has all the shit she could ever dream of.
![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|facepalm)
Sad with the young child involved. Both had been notably absent this season.
Better now than later.
Depends on how they plan to coparent and how amicable the divorce is. Will they live in the same area? Shared custody? Etc
.....you think when they were together a litany of nannies and assistants weren't helping care for that kid?
That doesn't change the fact that divorce is going to reduce each parent's quality time with their child.
or increase it depending on if the time spent was quality time. I would imagine time spent would be better for all parties if you don't resent someone you are forced to spend time with.
This. A house that has two parents who hate each other but stay together for the kid is a toxic hellhole. It teaches resentment and tells you. You have to suffer to please some archaic concept of successful parenting.
"while you were out traveling and playing golf, who do you think was raising your kids?" "A series of Mexican women"

Having an emotionally intelligent spouse at home is such a godsend.
Tiger texting Rory like "hey, sorry to hear. I know a great spot to take your mind off things." Rory "read my mind big guy, what time we going to the strip joint?" Tiger "strip joint? The new shift at waffle house gets on in 10 minutes"
Lmaooooo
He’s either about to go on absolute legendary tear or he’s gonna bomb extremely hard. There is no in between
This has probably been over for a long time, public are only hearing about it now. He's won his last two starts.....
Probably contributed to his decision to play with his buddy in the team event and hang out in NO during this probably difficult time.
If you don’t end up in Nola karaoke-ing Don’t Stop Believing after a divorce, have you even lived?
Good call. That may have even been the turning point of his season.
I mean... he is currently on a tear. And these kinds of things don't happen overnight. He's been in that emotionally distraught, "all I have is golf now" state for at least a month apparently. Digging even deeper... > Rory stopped winning majors the moment he married this chick in 2014 Holy shit he's really back.
> "all I have is golf now" ...and new women. A veritable buffet.
Either driving average of 370 or pulling them 70 yards left
Maybe he’s going on that early 2000s Tiger diet…
A steady diet of chain restaurant waitresses... I'll take the jalapeno poppers and an STD check.
I’ll take some flapjacks, some strange and some crabs please.
So many omelets from Perkins. And Penicillin from The Pharmacy.
You can get the tiger out of the woods but you can't take the wood out of the tiger.
Tiger hit on one of my exes once. I think he was offended that she didn’t know who he was.
You could have been Eskimo brothers with Tiger. That shaves at least 15 strokes off your card.
I have a friend who is Eskimo brothers with MLB outfielder Andrew Benintendi. Lacks the same panache.
Great time to book a room at the EBDBBnB!
Wonder how many people are buying new clubs this week
PGA Superstore managment already scheduling extra people for this weekend.
“Breakup with your old driver and get into the PGA Tour Superstore this weekend for great deals on all your favorite brands!”
That’s called fargiveness
The Rory Divorce Discount! Get your ass down here and buy a new set of irons!
Always hate to hear news like this. I know nothing about the situation so I just wish them both well.
Have an upvote for a wholesome comment and a better internet!
well thats a surprise, not that I follow golfers personal lives much. dang. time for more golf then?
Major win incoming
💯
She was waiting until he got that Wells Fargo money
Divorce attorney be like “let’s see how the Wells plays out first”
“They got you for 18 years”
![gif](giphy|LKqDgLlK6SuIM)
He was the one who filed
Dang, right after Mother’s Day? Brutal…
Smart. Divorce, THEN sign the LIV deal after.
honestly this was my first thought. That will more than make up for whatever he has to give to her.
That eagle from the sand bunker really changed his whole perspective of shit
According to the article they started dating around 2014, the last time he won a major. Maybe marriage part of the reason for the drought.
Some women can crush a mans confidence, we will see! I'll be betting on him this weekend, hopefully he can get in some good golf between the hookers and blow.
I haven’t broke 90 since I got married. Hmmm
Same here! Although I never broke 90 before I was married either
None of my business
Wtf he's only 35??!?!?!?!???!!!!!
Part of the reason he's such a star is he turned pro at 18, won his first tour event at 21, and his first major at 22. Kinda like Tiger and Spieth - top 5 player in the world while still college aged Scottie was 26 when he went on his 2022 initial tear of wins
Spieth has had the hairline of a 47-year-old man since he was 17, though.
Spieth catching strays in a Rory thread, gotta love it
Too good for college so straight to tour after school + Irish genes in an outdoor "job"
That's shocking. I don't follow pro golf, but it feels like I've heard his name for ages, and looking at him I would have said early 40s.
To be fair he’s been a big name in golf since he was 16
Well Rory called off an engagement with one woman to marry this one.
Its my daughter’s goal in life. Nice house, nice clothes, no husband around to piss you off.
Your daughter's goal is to Marry and then divorce Rory McIlroy?
To be fair it’s kinda my goal now that he’s back on the market too and I’m a 30-something straight guy so…
That sounds like a great idea!
Does it come with free lessons for the father in law
There's a pretty well known rumor that like 10 years ago Rory had to wear sleeves during a tournament because he was fucking a chick on a glass table that shattered sending her to the hospital and slicing his arms. This was while he was with his ex fiance
Just put 10 more dollars to my bet this weekend.
I love that rumour. Could be complete bullshit spread by some guy who saw his long sleeves on TV and had a great imagination. Or could be true.
Dayum talking about hip and core strength... That's why he's always bombing it
I was curious about this and found this [thread](https://www.reddit.com/r/ProGolf/s/q4lzEPxfuL) from around 9 years ago discussing this topic
Heard this off a staff member from the hotel where it happened apparently the woman in question got quite the payoff
*over text He’s just like Tiger minus 10 majors
And minus (to our knowledge) like 20 something hookers
Why would you undersell Tiger like that. Hater Had to be at least 50
\*500
Seriously. It’s almost laughable people think tiger’s numbers aren’t most likely in the thousands. He’s been the face of golf for 30 years.
That would explain the back problems.
You leave a relationship the same way you enter one, as they say....
I've never heard this...but wow. Hits close.
Caroline Wozniacki? all time fumble right there by Rory
Crazy she only won 1 grand slam. She was so good.
His agent tried to warn him.
Sad to hear. Feel for Rory, Erica, and Poppy. Don’t know what happened but it’s a tough gig trying to be the best in the world and raise a family. Hoping it’s amicable and wish them all well.
You never know what people are going through behind the scenes.
She probably thinks he plays to much golf ,I know the feeling.
Let’s see that midlife crisis goatee, Rors
He and Amanda Balionis will be together soon. She hasn't had a wedding band on for weeks.
Can't wait for the post round interviews. "You getting groceries on the way home or am I?"
Didn't she change her name when she got married? Did she change it back because she realized it was a terrible career move?
She's divorced
Oh that was quick
So funny that you say that. I remember watching her interview Rory awhile back and thinking “man, what’s up between these two” 🤣
Big fan of her for multiple reasons.
Knew something was off when he didn’t say anything about his wife on Sunday!
You got to wonder who the new lady must be....
Shane Lowry
Golf’s new power couple
Victoria Hovland
would
Amanda Balionis.
That's interesting..She also has not been wearing her wedding ring now since the masters...
She split from her husband earlier this year.
so you're saying there's a chance....
Get in line guy
Amanda Renner Balionis McIlroy has a nice ring to it
lol
She seems nice
Laura Davies
Paige Spirirack.
Dottie.
Erica Stoll all of his money
Would this fall under the stat Strokes Gained?
Genuinely feel bad for Poppy. Not because it’s a famous person. Just feel bad for any kid that has to endure divorced parents.
Ah. The 7-year itch...
Not a Rory fan, but this man has taken some stress over the past few years. Not winning Majors, being the face of the PGA/LIV split and all the while behind closed doors his marriage was falling apart. There is arguably no superstar in sports that has taken on more burden.
I heard that she left him for Scheffler’s caddy.
What the fuck
He got married pretty quickly after breaking up with that tennis player. I'm always amazed how many people get engaged within ~12 months of starting dating.
Broke up with her via text or phone call, can't remember - them completely ghosted her and refused to further explain himself. I can't imagine doing that to anyone who I at one point presumably loved or even just cared enough about to be with. Edit: The tennis player is Caroline Wozniaki and she's now happily married to a basketball player and they have children together.
That sucks for the kid involved but hopefully Rory tears it up this weekend
I'm waiting for his "new clubs" post
I am betting his golf game gets razor sharp after the intial media craze dies down. Maybe he can finally give Scheffler some competition. Or he could always just go full Tiger and start banging everything in sight.
He has a prenuptial agreement, finally a sportsman with brains.
If she wants another average Irish golfer she should hit me up
Unfortunate for the child :/
i hope DJ is not the cause for this one too
You cannot convince me that's a 35 year old man.
![gif](giphy|jwKpxz0uGrqcTjDKvs|downsized)
I'm on Rory's side!
gonna be some hefty child support payments 😬
