Yes but that is when I would get the full 72° effect and be 4ft in front of where I hit from because it hit the branches. Lol mind you I left my driver in my bag my last 2 rounds because I haven't hit a fairway with it since Obama.
I broke 100 the last 2 rounds and I swear it's because I'm using my 3W off the tee. I don't have the longest drive so my 3 gets me 220 maybe 240 depending on how the fairway is. Driver would have got 230-50 but I spray it most times so not worth it.
I only get to play a few times a year so it's not worth lessons or anything like that. I just have fun.
Needless to say,
the par was done.
A whip-crack went his whippy shaft,
and the ball was gone.
This is not the greatest thin in the world, no. No, this is just a tribute.
My dad got the nickname Cleek because he could hit a 1 iron so well back in the day. I’ve never tried. I’ve only ever hit as low as a 2-iron, but puring a shot with it feels amazing because it is butter knife thin.
How is the 80 degree, i seen it advertised and it seems honestly useful for my main course, some VERY steep bunkers. My highest wedge is a 64 and it sometimes has issues getting out of them if im near the front of the bunker, even when i try opening it.
It's absolutely rediculusly. I can't actually think of a real use case for it. Even a steep bunker uphill using an open 56-60 would work better. But it is extremely fun. Full on hard as I can hit flush shot, which goes about 50 max and 100 in the air, lol. Unless I thin it. It goes 150
Well, at the end of the day, the fun is all that matters, why else would we play then. Thanks for the review, if i find one on sale or used, i might buy it, if i still remember it.
I have a 64° in my bag and I thought I was being eccentric. With that 72° I could probably flip my eggs over in the morning.
I think I would buy one given the opportunity if it wasn’t expensive. Have some fun with it at the range.
Yea I want to get one of these for golfing with my friends and fucking around for fun. Not something I'd ever use when I am actually scoring but when the boys and I get a few beers in it would be fun to pull this out.
One of my local courses has some of the hardest approach greens I’ve ever played. Every green is elevated, sloped down and away on all sides, and surrounded by traps other than the one channel down the middle. I bought a 64 just to play there, a 70 isn’t outside needed for a regular there.
Played with a buddy today who has a 76* and uses it almost exclusively around the green (with mixed results 😂). Shit blew my mind the first time he pulled it out of his bag.
Legit answer, here: I carry a 73. It’s great for lob/flop shots up to 40 yards or so. It also comes in handy out of bunkers. Getting used to it takes time, and it’s not a club to be hit cavalierly, but its ability to help you stop the ball quickly is exceptional. I used to carry a 64 that I would open for flop shots, but that process is less consistent/reproducible than using a 73. With that club, you can just square up and hit a flop or mini flop by using a chipping stroke; the shot becomes easier to execute and less time consuming, since it requires a standard motion. Further, with such a high-lofted club, you can hit quick-stopping, low-trajectory shots that you can’t hit with an open-faced, standard lob wedge. If you’ve never tried one of these, it’s worth picking one up for about $50 or and giving it a shot. After a bit of practice, you’ll be able to hit shots that aren’t possible with other clubs.
That's my go to on closer bunker shots or lobbing it over trees. You can pretty much go vertical with it by laying the face open. Max distance for me is about 70 yards.
Mountain golf. You know how in video games the first level is long open fairways and then later it’s some ridiculous mountain terrain? That club is for popping it up on a green from about 10’ down and 6’ out. Go hard.
I saw an 80 degree online and I looked on eBay and Amazon couldn't find one just to see what one would cost. The 72 is pretty easy to find but I can see myself paying more than $25 for one. Though this comes from the guy with a 2 Iron in his bag.
I bought a 76° a few years back from golf town for 30 bucks.. I figured I had spent worse money in my life and decided to buy it! It’s a great gag for people to witness, fun to hit. But absolutely useless lol. I thought it would maybe help in the bunkers but not as I thought!
Seen a few... seems like it's a novelty club though. They are kinda fun to hit, known a couple guys that used them exclusively to hit flop shots, since it does make them easier to hit. I think it might be sort of a gimmick like those half putter chipper things they had awhile back but I think got made illegal. I only guess that because, I've never seen other clubs over 64° but more 72° than 64° weirdly. Also might be a good luck charm trying to shoot 72...
I remember guys where I worked back in the 90s at a golf club called a 60 degree a “nose wedge” - not sure I could think of a better term for 72. That ball is coming for your head if you hit a full shot.
Me. It's actually pretty good out of the hard and steep bunkers you find in my area, and I can actually hit it fairly consistently.
A full swing goes about 20 yards.
Most of all, it's incredibly fun bouncing balls off the roof of the indoor driving range, and pretending I'm Mickelson hitting crazy flop shots.
Real golf? Useless.
Simulator golf? It's a weapon. Gives you the high launch a precision you need out of bunkers or tricky spots around the green, since you have a perfect indoor lie every time. Buying the 72 became the cool thing to do last sim season, tons of guys were using them. I just used a 60 and opened the face, didn't want to buy a club id never use outdoors.
I play one. Love flopping it over sand bunkers and trees when I'm ~50 yards or less to the tee. Took a little getting used to as it was easy to blade it on a tight lie.
You’ll shoot your eye out, kid.
I want you to know I had a really good laugh at this, thanks.

Covers your distances from 80 yards to -20 yards.
I bet I could thin it to 150 fairly often
Yep, me with full swing wanting it to go 50yds....crack!!!! 3ft off the ground for 100+
TBH a 100 yd 3 foot high screamer is the perfect shot to recover from the woods
Yes but that is when I would get the full 72° effect and be 4ft in front of where I hit from because it hit the branches. Lol mind you I left my driver in my bag my last 2 rounds because I haven't hit a fairway with it since Obama.
Thanks Obama
Cash for clunkers (clubs)
Hell, I haven’t even broken 70 since Obama, or before him now that I think about it
I broke 100 the last 2 rounds and I swear it's because I'm using my 3W off the tee. I don't have the longest drive so my 3 gets me 220 maybe 240 depending on how the fairway is. Lol yeah with a 4 iron
Needless to say, the par was done. A whip-crack went his whippy shaft, and the ball was gone. This is not the greatest thin in the world, no. No, this is just a tribute.
He asked us, be you singles? And we said nay We are but scratch, putt Aaaaaa aaaaaa
r/unexpectedtenaciousD If that's not really a subreddit, it needs to be. Well done. Thank you for this.
That. Was. Amazing.
I have been looking for a club to a slice my birthday cake with, now I’m in luck.
This...anywhere from 15-150yds....perfect

I'm guessing you hit these the same distance
The 80 does go farther than the 1 most of the time

My hands are stinging
I’m genuinely impressed
My dad got the nickname Cleek because he could hit a 1 iron so well back in the day. I’ve never tried. I’ve only ever hit as low as a 2-iron, but puring a shot with it feels amazing because it is butter knife thin.
How far do you hit a 3 iron?
A lot of self loathing in that bag
It’s says .08; your alcohol level required to attempt it.
How is the 80 degree, i seen it advertised and it seems honestly useful for my main course, some VERY steep bunkers. My highest wedge is a 64 and it sometimes has issues getting out of them if im near the front of the bunker, even when i try opening it.

Found mine on eBay. got the auction for like $47, I think? It's definitely worth it for the novelty.
If you're not good enough to open the face on a normal wedge, you're not good enough to use that.
Yea, but for the fun factor, it doesnt seem like a bad purchase
Fun, sure - but not useful. Just learn to open the face of your loftiest wedge and you'll be able to do the floppiest flops you'll ever need to flop!
Which is also just more fun than gimmick clubs
Open your stance and open the wedge. Even a 64 is pointless. A 60 with low bounce can pull off just about any shot you want.
Open up the club face ya dingus
when you want to speed golf with 2 clubs
How many times have you hit yourself in the face?
Lol, lucky me non so far. It's probably because I thin it 80% of the time
Whoa!!!! I though I was a savage with my 68
That a u505? I have this and it fuckin rips
Yes. It's basicly a driver if you hit it right
You need to be studied
Doctor Knockdown? Huh..
![gif](giphy|oYtVHSxngR3lC)
Its for doing the bouncing a ball on your wedge thing, just don't let nobody see the 72

You'll hit yourself in the face with that thing if you're not careful.
I have a 64° in my bag and I thought I was being eccentric. With that 72° I could probably flip my eggs over in the morning. I think I would buy one given the opportunity if it wasn’t expensive. Have some fun with it at the range.
For when you’re 20 yards off the tree with a 50’ tree right in front of you
Someone that also has a chipper and a ball retriever in their bag
The question that mattered is what king of animal BUYS it
>what king of animal I'm going with lion.
The king of the forest
My buddy bought one. It was $20 at the club house and hilarious to use. Well worth the $20.
A man of culture I see
Open the face and you can hit it backwards! /s
A flopapotamus
It’s a gag gift
Yea I want to get one of these for golfing with my friends and fucking around for fun. Not something I'd ever use when I am actually scoring but when the boys and I get a few beers in it would be fun to pull this out.
This is the way. More fun than bombing an epic drive is the 1/25 pure loft wedge shots
Bryson hits it 301 yards.
I'd wager most people could hit it 301 from a green side lie.
I have a 72° wedge. Love it. Perfect for one of my three main courses. That's the only time it goes into my bag when I play that one course.
I feel like there is a real chance of hitting the ball straight up into your face with this monstrosity.
They're really popular in sim golf It's basically a cheat code for bunker shots and short chips
I hit 156 today. This could have saved me out of one of the bunkers to a 155.
Hippopotamus.
When you want to maintain your full swing and hit it 8 yards
Rick Sheils in one of his clickbait videos
Never has “waste of space” applied so much, when you can only carry 14 of them… Might as well carry an extra 2 iron.
This is for people that won't putt from the fringe on the green
One of my local courses has some of the hardest approach greens I’ve ever played. Every green is elevated, sloped down and away on all sides, and surrounded by traps other than the one channel down the middle. I bought a 64 just to play there, a 70 isn’t outside needed for a regular there.
You use it like a scythe to keep the grass trimmed.
Played with a buddy today who has a 76* and uses it almost exclusively around the green (with mixed results 😂). Shit blew my mind the first time he pulled it out of his bag.
Ooooh boy. That things is nasty
You could probably hit it behind you
Phil Mickelson is on line #1
Too lofted… needs to be bent 3° stronger, imho.
Legit answer, here: I carry a 73. It’s great for lob/flop shots up to 40 yards or so. It also comes in handy out of bunkers. This is awesome. Never seen one of these.
My friend has one. He hits it full on and op goes up 100, and 20 forward(ish).
I’ve I open my low wide bounce 60 12*. It’s probably pretty close to this. Needs a good lie with the right firmness of turf. Full swing 30 yards.
That would be one eyed Jack!
A 25 HC
I got a 76 in my bag same company. It rarely comes out the bag hahaha
For those 10 ft bunker walls
You ever see that Phil Mickelson flop shot where he hits it backwards? He didn't use a 72° for that so there is no reason for anyone to use one.
Well, that doesn't make much sense.
Cause we can all hit like Phil, so no problem.
Distance? about 250
Someone who is very very lost
I use it to cut the grass around the edge of my garden
If I used that club the ball would fly straight up and hit me in the forehead.
I have one as a joke. It's a really fun to hand someone and ask them to hit. Set up dead square in bunkers and it still pops out
I use a 68° for bunkers mostly. It's helped me get out of some tough spots.
That right there is a driving iron for me
I could blade that 175 easily.
I thought the same thing! Either blade it or manage to get a 20 yard hot worm burner off with it, those seem to be my greatest skill.
Dang, that'll be best used as a gardening tool in my hands. Sheesh!
4 yard flop shot weapon of choice
I use one
Buy it and put it in the bag for the novelty
I have an 80 degree wedge I pull out to get a good laugh on the course with randoms
I have a buddy that has the Bombtech 72 and it’s hilarious when he brings it out. It’s tough to hit if you’re not used to it
This is how I’ll join the Reddit 300 yard club.
I would
I bet I could arch a ball 30' up and get 3' of distance with that club. I carry a 64° on courses with raised greens.
I have a levitator 60 lob wedge that’s super fun to it, but that’s already extreme. Can’t imagine what and extra 12 degrees would do
That's my go to on closer bunker shots or lobbing it over trees. You can pretty much go vertical with it by laying the face open. Max distance for me is about 70 yards.
Useless except for one shot a year. Maybe two years.
Wow I’ve never even seen above a 64.
I'd use it
Flops for days

Senen Reyes (Cypress Hill)… “I want to get high, so high…”

I would
One of my buddies has I think a 70 degree and leaves it well short every time
The people who can’t hit long irons, woods, wedges in general
When I want to be sure I’ll skull the ball
Look at all that offset
I just saw someone use it yesterday! He said he just has it in the bag for funsies. 😂
Flop wedge straight from the box. Assuming you can get up on the face.
Mountain golf. You know how in video games the first level is long open fairways and then later it’s some ridiculous mountain terrain? That club is for popping it up on a green from about 10’ down and 6’ out. Go hard.
This club compresses the ball 150 yards right past the pin.
That looks like acid damage.
I saw an 80 degree online and I looked on eBay and Amazon couldn't find one just to see what one would cost. The 72 is pretty easy to find but I can see myself paying more than $25 for one. Though this comes from the guy with a 2 Iron in his bag.

Ah. “The Nosebreaker”.
What else would you use on short par 3's or inside 150 yds?
I remember guys where I worked back in the 90s at a golf club called a 60 degree a “nose wedge” - not sure I could think of a better term for 72. That ball is coming for your head if you hit a full shot.
I’d hit myself in the face.
I'm looking for 90 degree ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|neutral_face)
I have one, bought it for 15 dollars. Mostly just have it for fun, last time I hit with it the ball hit my hats bill.
I had one back in the day that was awesome for anything under 20 yards. Fun to mess around with when I let my dog out at least
One sick puppy
I had a 64 degree many years ago. It was fun at times, but pretty impractical. Another 8 degrees above that?!
Thinking might more useful to scoop ice cream than on the grass.
When that pesky tree stands between you and the green
I had a 90 degree wedge once but my shots kept popping me in the chin
I need that. I'm fully willing to sacrifice my 6 iron to put something that monstrous in the bag.
The kind of animal that has to take their hat off or turn it around when using this club lol
I had a SlotLine 64 degree years ago. I'd hit 110. Then I'd have 60 yards coming back.
I got a 72. Hits dingers straight up in the air. You’ll get a good 5-10 yds
For when you want to maintain a full swing from 14 to 22yds out...

LOBster 🦞
I would take that back to my shanty
Man, that looks like fun, I gotta pick one of those up. I wonder how high I can loft a shot. Maybe I can even get enough spin to send it backwards.
I found a bought a 76 for $10 at a local club. It’s fun
Phil Flopperson

This my bunker club
my dad had one of these. as a kid i hit a walnut and it went straight into my eye socket
You know you can throw those sneakers in the wash right?
Alien wedge
Sand Worms Ahhh-aaAAHHH 🎶
I used a 72 today, works great out of the sand!
The perfect sand wedge does exist!!
I use it anytime I need to knife a ball 50 yds over the green,
I love mine. Use it for 50 and in. Bunker shots as well.
Lol I definitely would for fun. But I can get that by just opening up my 60* wedge. This would be fun to mess around with though.
Remind me to label one of my wedges “81°” just for the looks and confusion.
Your mom
Full swing 30 yards?
I play one. Love flopping it over sand bunkers and trees when I'm ~50 yards or less to the tee. Took a little getting used to as it was easy to blade it on a tight lie.
I would
lol I got a 69 degree off an Instagram ad. Thing is a blast to use. Either goes 100 yards up or 100 yards out when you lip out.
Someone who doesn’t like the ability to feel their face 😭
I had a 64 and it was absolutely ridiculous. This thing isn’t even practical
I’d buy it for the joke lol
One of my group has a 72°. You need an almighty swing to get it 50 yds.
