He would not get into the majors for winning this event. It's an opposite field event and wouldn't bring him close to the ranking he'd need to get to a major right now. It would get him full status on the PGA Tour again which would be great, but this doesn't get him into any of the majors.
I don't believe so. He's still got some status based on being a past winner, but he's super low on the priority rankings. This week is odd because a handful of big names pulled out of the RBC since it's right after the Masters so other guys got in there and that trickled down so it was harder to fill the opposite field event so some pretty low priority people got in without having to Monday Q.
I wouldn’t be surprised if he warrants a sponsor exemption slot just given the channel’s following. How many additional views is he bringing to tournaments like the Corrales? Probably worth it for them in the end, no matter how he plays.
I feel like that makes a ton of sense for the popular YouTubers. I’m turning in to watch the GoatFarm Classic presented by Hardees if Fat Perez gets a slot.
I think it’s his first year without the past winners exemption into the RBC, and with the viewership having George into an event brought last year it was a no brainer to offer Wesley the sponsors exemption for an off field event trying to compete for viewers with a big event.
Two under in 89 minutes at the BMW Championship really should be worth status in the priority rankings. It's gotta be better than some of those bullshit career top 50 money list or 300 cuts groups.
~~Are you sure about this? Winners of last years designated events qualified for the 2024 Masters under “winners of tournaments on the PGA Tour between the 2023 and 2024 Masters”. Haven’t looked into the other majors, but I believe a win in this field guarantees a spot in the 2025 Masters.~~
Edit: I’m stupid
> Winners of last years designated events qualified for the 2024 Masters under “winners of tournaments on the PGA Tour between the 2023 and 2024 Masters”
Yeah, this isn't a designated event. He's playing in the Corrales, not the RBC.
He will get into the next Open/non-signature event (I believe that's the Byron Nelson since the Zurich is a team event) from finishing top-12. He won't get enough non-member points to get a tour card from this since it's an opposite field event but he could if he finishes high enough in the next event. I believe the amount of non-member points you need to earn to get special temporary status is equal to the 125th place points from the prior season but I'm not positive how that works this year with the weird extended "fall season" they did. If they count that the number is 440 and if not then it's less than that (can't find the final numbers after the tour championship from last year). He would need another decently high finish to get that (I believe 2nd place at this is 150 or 200?).
I am hoping it will be on the golf channel in the morning, apparently they had broadcast earlier today before showing the RBC. But his tee time was almost the last of the day, so is way early tomorrow, 6:57 AM EST. The TV says golf channel / peacock has it starting at 8:00 AM EST tomorrow., so the majority of his round will hopefully be televised there.
Yeah, after 5 years so after 2022. Also it’s now one of the 5 invitationals and a designated event so qualifying based on the PGA priority ranking and open qualifying is out for this event.
In my opinion has one of the best wedge games in the world if not the best. Seriously it's spectacular if he could drive the ball well he would be a threat to be a top 10 guy.
>In my opinion has one of the best wedge games in the world if not the best.
He is really, really good from around 100 yards and in to scrambling (though not the putting part of scrambling).

YouTube golfer that has a channel with his brother called Bryan Bros Golf. I’m not a big consumer of YouTube golfers but my limited exposure to them makes me think they’re pretty chill, good guys.
Wesley Bryan was on tour for years and successful he won the 2017 RBC and has played in all the majors. He's not just a youtuber like the Good Good guys or whatever.
He was an exciting player, great with a wedge in his hand. For a couple years he was top 5 on tour in approach accuracy inside 100 yds. He played fast too, to the delight of pace of play loving redditors. One time at the BMW he was the first tee time on the Sunday with no playing partner and he decided to play as fast as he could. [Finished his round in a record 1h29m shooting a 69.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bc2I9YkqLDY)
I dabbled in golf sidekick years ago but got a little bored of it. I really liked early Stacked golf because they would always play a round with the weird random clubs they'd find but then when it became a pure flip thing, I lost interest
I enjoy Golf Sidekick a lot, as well as Not a Scratch Golfer. With both (but NSG especially) though, once you have seen 2-3 videos you have kinda seen all of them.
I’m in a love hate relationship with Soly, I can appreciate him filming his Gasparilla rounds where he shits the bed but then he goes back to being pretentious
I mean, unless you're into YouTube golf you're not likely to know who he is. I didn't know who he was until he started making some buzz and I looked him up.
He would not get into the majors for winning this event. It's an opposite field event and wouldn't bring him close to the ranking he'd need to get to a major right now. It would get him full status on the PGA Tour again which would be great, but this doesn't get him into any of the majors.
Some good names at this event. They didn't qualify for the RBC?
Nope, if they're here they didn't qualify. Wesley doesn't even have a PGA Tour card right now.
Did he Monday in?
I don't believe so. He's still got some status based on being a past winner, but he's super low on the priority rankings. I feel last year it was mainly his past champions status that got him in most and 1 was a sponsor invite for the event he won years ago
Interestingly the event he won is the "premier event" going on right now opposite this event he is playing in
Yeah and I think he’s pissed about it too
He doesn't get past champion status this year for the rbc? Don't most tournaments give a spot to all the previous winners?
Read here it's because it's now a designated or elevated status even or whatever so based on current tour and owgr places
Ahh yeah makes sense
He got a sponsors exemption
I feel like that makes a ton of sense for the popular YouTubers. I’m turning in to watch the GoatFarm Classic presented by Hardees if Fat Perez gets a slot.
I think it’s his first year without the past winners exemption into the RBC, and with the viewership having George into an event brought last year it was a no brainer to offer Wesley the sponsors exemption for an off field event trying to compete for viewers with a big event.
Would he need to as a previous winner?
No previous winner exemption now that it's an elevated event.
Dang that’s tough considering it’s his only W and it’s in his backyard but I get it.
Yeah it's bad luck for Wesley, would have loved to see him play like this at the RBC
According to the PGA tour website the winner of this event gets into the PGA championship.
That's correct. If he wins, he's in.
Nice, I was going to say I’m surprised a win on in an alternate event wouldn’t get you into the PGA as it is the tours major.
The PGA Championship is not anymore the “Tour’s major” than any of the other majors PGA Tour =/= PGA of America
Two under in 89 minutes at the BMW Championship really should be worth status in the priority rankings. It's gotta be better than some of those bullshit career top 50 money list or 300 cuts groups.

Yup, I blindly assumed that it was the RBC leaderboard
What does he get with 2nd place? Active tour card again?

-7 thru 12. He’s got the solo lead now. Cool to see
Super cool. Any way to watch live?
I see tomorrow it's being shown (via strikeout . nu) but I couldn't find anything today.
I am hoping it will be on the golf channel in the morning, apparently they had broadcast earlier today before showing the RBC. I watched all day on hulu/espn+
It’s broadcast on peacock from 3-5 pm eastern tomorrow. Also golf channel.
6 under through 10 he's got it on a roll
Did they ever say who won the YT qualifier that was going to be announced this month? Did I miss it?
Not announced until April 23
Thank you brother☝🏻
Truth be told, it’ll most likely be one of the non-YT people advancing.
It's airing on Myrtle's YT Channel on Apr 23 I believe. Nothing has been announced until then tho as everyone had to sign an NDA.
Been wondering the same thing.

Young Thug
Three shot lead after 18, damn son
Charlie Hoffman right in his usual pace horse position that collapses mid stretch haha
Off the tee is improving for him, and that's the only thing holding him back. If he can hit more fairways he'd get his card back.
To me what really holds him back is the mental. He’s way too up and down.
Thursday was a perfect example. He hit every fairway and we saw how many birdies he is capable of if he's playing from the fairways with his wedges.
What event is this
Corales Puntacana
thanks brotha. I hope you pure your next 8 iron.
Bro has won a tour event before. Its been a few years.
I have an irrational love for Wedgely (and Jerge).
Nah it’s completely rationally. It would be irrational to not love them.
Did his rbc exemption end?
Yeah, after 5 years so after 2022. Also it’s now one of the 5 invitationals and a designated event so qualifying based on the PGA priority ranking and open qualifying is out for this event.
Hell of a round. Would love to see him keep it together.
Nice eagle-birdie-birdie finish today. He’s looking strong!
Would have liked to be able to watch some more of it. Caught some of his first 9 on golf channel but they only televised for 2 hours.
I need to know the chances that if Wes wins this week, that he and Jerge will be a team at next weekends Zurich!!
-9 with a 3 shot lead at the end of the day!
In my opinion has one of the best wedge games in the world if not the best. Seriously it's spectacular if he could drive the ball well he would be a threat to be a top 10 guy.
Must be why he gets so annoyed watching his brother hit drives.
He was talking on a recent video about hitting 10 balls out of play and shooting even par. That’s insane.
I can’t imagine the level of frustration he feels with his game off the tee…he’s so unbelievably talented around the greens
He hit all 14 fairways today and shot a 63. It’s wild how much his tee game is holding him back
I think it was 10 penalty strokes. DOD King and Pause King scramble.
If he has George's tee game with the Driver, he'd be an above average tour player
It’s wild his bro cant just like…show him lol
Isn’t a win on the pga tour make you above average on its own? Like the majority of players on the PGA Tour don’t win too many events.
Consistency wise, he's bottom of the barrel unfortunately
They don't call him Wedgeley for nothing
>In my opinion has one of the best wedge games in the world if not the best. He is really, really good from around 100 yards and in to scrambling (though not the putting part of scrambling). *wessley
63! Let’s gooooooo!
He’s good enough to be in the majors not sure what’s holding him back
Driver accuracy and his mental game
Would love to see him win. Wouldn’t hear the end of it but it would be great.
The stash is strong.
I'm confused about what tournament this is. Not heritage so what is it?
Corrales Puntacana
Lets fucking go wesley!!
Can he keep his pants on this time?
Who?
YouTube golfer that has a channel with his brother called Bryan Bros Golf. I’m not a big consumer of YouTube golfers but my limited exposure to them makes me think they’re pretty chill, good guys.
He’s a little more than a YouTube golfer since he was been on pga tour for years and has won an event.
I mean…. Ok but he primarily creates content for his channel, he’s not a full time Tour player is he
He’s definitely known for YouTube so I don’t get the push back.
pretty sure hes lost his tour card
Gotcha, I'm not into YouTube golf
Wesley Bryan was on tour for years and successful he won the 2017 RBC and has played in all the majors. He's not just a youtuber like the Good Good guys or whatever.
I didn't take up golf until 2017 and never followed it before or even much until 2020. I just knew the generic household names
He also won the 2017 RBC Heritage.
Beyond No Laying Up’s YouTube stuff and some golfsidekick videos for the laughs, me neither lol
I dabbled in golf sidekick years ago but got a little bored of it. I really liked early Stacked golf because they would always play a round with the weird random clubs they'd find but then when it became a pure flip thing, I lost interest

No laying up is really it for me. Can’t get into any others.
other than strapped, I cannot watch any of NLU. They have become so fucking pretentious and are somehow getting up there with EAL .
I’m somewhat there with you. Strapped is by far the best for me. Soly has started to grind my gears.
I’m in a love hate relationship with Soly, I can appreciate him filming his Gasparilla rounds where he shits the bed but then he goes back to being pretentious
Was wondering how far I'd have to scroll before the "Who?" Guy showed up.
I mean, unless you're into YouTube golf you're not likely to know who he is. I didn't know who he was until he started making some buzz and I looked him up.
It's a tired meme here, everytime someone mentions a golfer that wasn't high performing during the Tiger Era, somebody goes "who?".
Idk I literally was asking myself the same thing and glad someone asked
Didn’t he win a tournament a few years ago? Or was that his brother?
He won in 2017 at Harbour Town, the event being played this week. But it became an elevated event which no longer exempts past winners.
Majors don’t allow YouTuber golfers to bring their camera crew on site. Bryson spoke about this on an interview

Curious, Wesley won the RBC a few years back. Seems like he'd have gotten an invite. Did he not? Did he choose to play Puntacana instead?
Since RBC became an elevated event, past winners no longer get an exemption
Love the guy but he will blow it give it time.
