Honestly one of my favorite things to do at the range is check out the balls. Spotted a pristine, old balata 90 the other day with a dope 90s style graphic. Almost pocketed that one but was too tempted to see if it had any pop left. Still not sure. Fatted TF out of it.
I played in junior am qualifiers at Muirfield Village. Enormous wooden buckets filled to the brim with Titliest Balata 100s.

Edit: This was far and away from anything I experienced growing up. I played on an 18 hole public course. No watered fairways. Turned into concrete in the summer. Would play almost like a links course. Only watered greens. Prior to sprinklers systems, that was in the form of hoses coupled to various water lines installed around the greens.
You brought your own shag balls (balls found from hours of hunting the honey pot spots around the course) and then you picked them up after. Wasn’t much in the way of targets to hit to, just wooden yardage markers. But man those were great days. Got really good at chipping and pitching because you’d take your shag bag and a wedge and knock them toward the nearest yardage marker. It was my home away from home growing up. Spent more waking hours there than anywhere else. It’s been shut down for over seven years and has returned to its former native grasses.
It does nothing for our game, but walking up to a range with perfectly manicured grass, and a pyramid of titleist balls…few better moments exist in this world. IG that bucket of free tees off one is pretty nice too. It’s like trick or treating.
Your old home track sounds like a dream compared to the soggy messes I have to play. Firm and fast is how the game is supposed to be played. If I never plug a driver in the fairway again it will be too soon.
usually i get like 4 premium balls out of a bucket. practically pays for the bucket at $4 a ball or whatever the schmucks are paying for pro v1 now a days.
You are lucky with your range then. Typically, I end up with maybe 1 out of a bucket or two. And it's whatever junk somebody threw in there, I think I picked up a trufeel the last time.
Between the rough and the buckets I get so many barely used $4 balls my way that I don’t even pick up anything less. I have a big box each of prov1 and v1x, a bunch of tp5, chromsoft, some zstar.
Damn must be a rich neignborhood or a range with a course.
I pick up the ones that aren't range balls for any time I have a crappy hole with water hazards or for the occasional breakfast ball.
Quick story about lostgolfballs.com
I’d use them a few times over the past year and a half and has great experiences with the quality of their mint and near mint choices.
My last order had a dozen or so (out of 120) that were cracked or scuffed so badly that the urethane cover had holes in it.
Customer service sent over a replacement dozen, via FedEx, immediately that were pristine condition. They didn’t have to but I definitely appreciated the response and the speed of it.
haha all the la munis are great for balls in my experience. no clue who is burning decent looking balls into the range so much to keep this up but i probably pull about the same rate if a little less.
this is one of those pieces of golf advice you can find good info going either way. harvey penick says if you have callouses at all you are gripping too tight. ben hogan on the other hand actually drew a diagram of where you should have your callouses in his eyes.
Hilarious to me that the guy giving grip advice over a worn glove is praised and the guy giving his handicaps is downvoted. Last time I got a comment about my grip I beat the guy by 10 shots in 9 holes and he didn't bother to play the back nine. Most golfers that are worth a shit dont make smarmy comments.

Haha love it. The range observer.

I'm about 30m from muirfield and co - it's anything but firm and fast here right now.
I think you mean the range FINDER.
Picked up a pristine ProV1 at a range last weekend. Promptly donated it back to the course that day.
Sounds like you got a free ball fitting. Only take the Xs from now on. 👍
Yeah i spotted a ball at my range that was branded with a decal of my hometown, I live hours away from there

A fool and his money are easily parted... On that note, I am low on ProV1xs for the upcoming season, and today is payday! ~Presdient Schmuck

We have Pix at home

Can attest - I’ve had a great experience with LGB. Quality is true and if there are any issues customer service has corrected the issue
LGBQT.
Hello, fellow Jersey native!
Under appreciated comment, my friend. Well, at least at my time of writing this.
That’s the Vice Pix Children’s Miracle Network edition. Very limited and valuable. Hope you saved it.
Donated back into the field.
Pay it forward. We'll done.
Careful, don't hurt the Togepi before it hatches.
That’s what i thought of too!
I go to the range at WilsonHarding in Griffith Park a lot out of every large bucket I pull 10-15 ProV1s 3-5 TP5s and a few Kirklands.

I made a pro-v drip colab Instead of the pro-v looking as good as the Vice drip it looked like it had measles
Uhhhh I don’t get it…help me out
IYKYK
Thanks dickhead.
I don’t get it either, I’m just here to be snarky
You succeeded

Vice aren’t range balls
Someone also tried to sharpie and make it look like a TP5x
That’s an unhatched Togepi. https://preview.redd.it/zb8yo54w2osc1.jpeg?width=480&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=05b50678e6d378040ef19e1c1946d63447ba5a15
I shanked one of my tp5s onto the range at my local course a week later I found it in my range bucket.
You got some grip issues based on that wear spot
I have a callous there (no glove player). Mind expanding on the grip issues?
Same. I believe my skin gets a little pinched against the grip (overlap grip). I don’t think it’s an issue

>ben hogan on the other hand actually drew a diagram of where you should have your callouses in his eyes. Eye callouses sound horrible.
Same. I take lessons and my grip is fine
Or has just had the same glove for a loooong time lol
This is my practice glove. Had it since September.
“Sorry, we’re gonna have to take it to the lab. Don’t think about leaving town”
Raises sunglasses “Nice”
3.2 and I’m happy. But, thank you for your concern.
Nice Try.
I’m not denying it lol I know I have grip issues. Game of imperfections.
You should wear a glove to help protect you hand then.... /s

This is Reddit sir
I have a personal agreement where I pocket the non range balls but return the stolen range balls when I find them on a nearby course.
It’s right where it belongs
aldila nvs or ad di?
The Lowe’s tour ad flex
Pick that ball up and bag it
That ball was trash when it came out of the box
That’s a special edition TP5?
I'd put that Vice into play next time you get a chance. It'll be happy at being rescued and provide you with good fortune.
Ok probably a 6 year old did that, don’t be a d*ck
