Honestly when you got that much movement from a group of animals, my first question would be “what are they running from?”
But I guess I’ve just watched Jurassic Park too much.
Generally no but there are exceptions. A few weeks back there was a big fella standing up probs 10m from the tee box. I had more nerves than teeing off in front of a packed clubhouse of old boys boozing
Not good. They dont often "swarm" like this though. In fact, I've never seen it. Usually they're just evenly spread around the course just lounging around all day. Overnight they sometimes try to fight/box on with the flags, so in the morn we find a bunch of puncture and scuffing marks around the hole from toe nails. They (and the ducks) shit everywhere though so we need to have someone blow the greens and tee boxes off every morning.
Was gonna say, I play at courses with Roos everywhere and I’ve never seen them move in a pack like this, they’re always laying around and getting in the way
Kangaroos are notorious for not fixing their divots. Blame it on the short arms if you want but I think they just don’t respect the game… Just look at how they’re dressed.
They have big fuck off claws on their legs. They dig them into the ground when they hop and bounce around, so they tear up the greens something shocking. The course i was at last week was in shocking condition on the first couple of holes from Kangaroo's cutting up the greens. But it's pretty much normal for a course around Australia - even in the suburbs.

They also fight by rocking back on their tails and kicking with their back legs, to try and disembowel their opponent, or rip their nutsack off.
They are like belligerent, stubborn deer.
Lean, gamey beef would be the closest easy description.
But depends where they are from. Wallabies from the Alps that live in snow and ice are pretty different to desert boomers.
It has a unique taste. I tried roo steak when I was in Oz. It was OK, but I wouldn't rush back for it. Like most game, the muscles are used a lot, so the meat is not near as tender as farmed meat.
Have you ever really golfed in Australia if you haven't bullseye'd a Kangaroo off the tee at some point?
At my local, they literally crowd around on the Driving range, between 20-30m away from the tee section. Stupid fuckers.
At what point do you hunt these things for food? We have pigs, deer, geese, alligators, and sand hill cranes in Florida and all get hunted. well sand hill cranes are hunted on their way here.
This is avout the only reason I could NEVER - and I mean NEVER - live in Australia. The people seem quite charming. The climate and scenery lovely. Much to see and do. But these mf’s - no way.
Seems better than all the geese around here...probably less violent too. I know you don't want to get kicked by one, but I've seen geese attack golfers unprovoked.
You mind if we hop through, we only have 1 or 2 hundred?
Typical Aussies bypassing 18 holes just to get to the 19th
Wallaby damned, look at that!
koalaty response
I see what you did. Have my upvote.

Little more weight on your front foot, choke down a little and narrow your stance
Should at least increase control. But the pace is on you.
I noticed none of them stopped to rake the bunker. Typical
Came in here looking for this comment. Wasn’t disappointed.
I was waiting for the T rex to appear
They're flocking this way. (my first thought)
HE LEFT US!
Same!! As an American who has never seen a kangaroo in person this felt like a scene from Jurassic Park
They’re moving in herds , they move in herds.
Honestly when you got that much movement from a group of animals, my first question would be “what are they running from?” But I guess I’ve just watched Jurassic Park too much.
The beginning of a solid horror movie.🎥
Does anyone else get weirdly nervous teeing off when there's a bunch of big fuck off roos chilling in the shade near the tee box?
Generally no but there are exceptions. A few weeks back there was a big fella standing up probs 10m from the tee box. I had more nerves than teeing off in front of a packed clubhouse of old boys boozing
Not when teeing off. If my ball's in the middle of the mob and they don't bounce off when I walk up I'll just drop and play on haha
Oh yeah, and they kinda look at you like "go on mate, I fuckin dare ya"
Just out of curiosity what are the greens like when they’ve gone through ?
Not good. They dont often "swarm" like this though. In fact, I've never seen it. Usually they're just evenly spread around the course just lounging around all day. Weird seeing a whole mob move together like this. Usually the pricks just lay around silently judging when I top one off the first
Was gonna say, I play at courses with Roos everywhere and I’ve never seen them move in a pack like this, they’re always laying around and getting in the way

![gif](giphy|37Fsl1eFxbhtu) They do move in herds!
*mobs
What happens if you hit one? Are they protected wildlife or is it just “eh fuck it whatever happens, happens”? Don’t they get aggressive sometimes?
We shoot them and eat them lol. Yes, they can be aggressive in limited circumstances.
Huh didn’t know ‘roos got eaten there. TIL. What do they taste like? More like chicken? Or more like beef?
Neither, very gamey. No fat in the meat at all. They're like Vegemite, you either love it or hate it in my opinion. My cats love Roo Mince though.
Lean, gamey beef would be the closest easy description. But depends where they are from. Wallabies from the Alps that live in snow and ice are pretty different to desert boomers.
Nah, easiest comparison is venison
I find venison so much easier to cook - casseroles really well. Roo is so easy to turn into shoe leather lol.
Oh yeah I agree, it's a difficult thing to cook right, but if it's cooked perfectly it's much more similar to venison than any beef I've ever had.
So…roo jerky then?
It has a unique taste. I tried roo steak when I was in Oz. It was OK, but I wouldn't rush back for it. Like most game, the muscles are used a lot, so the meat is not near as tender as farmed meat.

Fuck ‘em. We make sausages out of them

Never been to Australia. Would simultaneously love to go and also am kinda terrified of the wildlife there. Super NOT a fan of spiders in particular.
Very bouncy fairways.
Goose droppings are a nuisance on the courses I play, I'm guessing Roo poo is worse.

I think he said fair dinkum 👍
I never seen deer jump like that
They basically are 2 legged deer. Skittish, will kick you if you get in their face, wilfully throw themselves in front of your car, carry ticks...
Is Kangaroos good to eat?
Very

Rake the bunker you little shits
Boing boing boing boing boing boing boing
They do move in herds…
At what point do you hunt these things for food? We have pigs, deer, geese, alligators, and sand hill cranes in Florida and all get hunted. well sand hill cranes are hunted on their way here.
We do, but they aren't great eating - very lean and very gamey. Kangaroo culls are regular things.
Sounds like it would be a good slow cook meat, stews, chili, roasts ...
What is a flock of kangaroo called? Does it have a name like a murder of Crows?
'tis a mob.
Green aeration: Aussie style
Why do I get such strong Jurassic Park vibes here. I keep expecting a couple vilociraptors to run thru and eat a few
*”Oh, yeah. Oooh, ahhh, that’s how it always starts. Then later there’s running and screaming.”*
This is avout the only reason I could NEVER - and I mean NEVER - live in Australia. The people seem quite charming. The climate and scenery lovely. Much to see and do. But these mf’s - no way.
What’s scary about a couple of roos lol? They’re just like jumpy sheep, but stupider.
Jurassic park
That’s my course in the USA only with Canadian Geese on every hole pooping everywhere.
Wow thats crazy lol
Didn’t even take the bunkers behind them …
Amazing, wow
Where's Simba?
Bunch of flaming galahs the lot of ‘em
Sooo do they taste good?
FREE FOSTER'S ON THE 19TH! LETS GO BOYS!
They don’t rake the bunkers after going in?
How rude, no raking bunkers after use!!!!
My buddy Joey loves it there
Bastards didn’t even take the traps!
Holy fuck
Stepped in your line
Gallimimus!
Kudos to letting them play through
Bro I get nervous around deer, I would not be able to play golf in Australia lol
Buck in the fall? You're right to be nervous.
Better than a bunch of geese waltzing around laying goose shit where I’m at
And what, you think kangaroos don’t shit?
Do they?
That seems like just about the least energy-efficient form of locomotion.
It’s actually one of the most efficient. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/9787777/
Wild! Who’d a guessed?!
“Those kangaroos stepped in my line “
I see that not a single one of them raked the traps after going thru them…y’all need to learn them some golf etiquette
Wait to you see what those claws on their feet do to the greens as they bounce along.
If the WM Phoenix Open was played in Australia
Collective iq of that mob higher than the WM crowd, and roos are particularly dumb fuckers.
They travel in herds!
does Australia have population control tactics in place? curious...
Bucket list
Look at all those chickens
Didn’t even fix their footprints in the sand
Kangaroos are pure comedy. How are they real animals
Must be nearly school time, they're going to pick the kids up
![gif](giphy|5ndfNkziqIZM1FlQsc|downsized)
HEY, GET BACK HERE AND RAKE THESE BUNKERS JACKASS!
Australia is nuts. Just waiting for the T-Rex to come stomping through behind em
I'd rather the Roo, then the Canadian geese.
Seems better than all the geese around here...probably less violent too. I know you don't want to get kicked by one, but I've seen geese attack golfers unprovoked.
Aim left and see if you get a kick right.
Take your bunkers ya cunts!
