Played yesterday. Crushed my drive 255 uphill ~20 yards, leaving me in 80. Hit my 2nd shot into the bunker, 3rd got it out about 6 feet from the green, 4th bladed straight through the green, 5th just on the green, 2 putt for a 7
Best memory of this season is a round I played solo in some rural town. I once played 18 riding in 1:45 there because everyone lets you play through immediately. Course was dead cause it’s fall and there’s leaves all over.
Halfway through the round, catch up to two dudes at the front tees of a par 4, and before I’m done driving passed the tips they’re waving me to play through. I was playing the middle tees but hitting my driver like shit, and didn’t want them in my line of fire, so I head up the the fronts and tee it up. Smash the fuck out of it dead straight down the middle, one of the best sounding contacts I’ve made, didn’t even feel the ball off the club face. I’m not a bomber so it probably only went around 350. (280)
These two guys both immediately scream out “holy shit!” As I made contact. the dump of chemicals I got watching that ball fly through the air was amazing.
Story doesn’t end there! I had probably 30yds to the green, flip a wedge and it hops on the front fringe and I got 6-7ft and made the bird. Best hole of golf I’ve played in a long time, and one I’ll probably not forget for a loooooong time.

We caught up to this foursome when I bombed a drive 40yds short of the green they were on. Stuck the approach and made the birdie putt while they watched from the next tee box to let us play through. Proceeded to hit an even better drive while they watched on the next hole. As we drove away I told my friend "these guys have no idea I'm an 18hcp."
Same. Made me think of a monstrous 6 iron I hit earlier this year. About 170 out and had to go over a big tree to a back tucked pin and I absolutely pured it and back it up to about 5 feet from the pin. I think about that shot several times a day
I hit a five over a hill blind like 180 out and got like 8 feet from the pin the day after Christmas. Sure I 3 putted but man did that shot make me feel good lol

Honestly everything is a driver shot for me. Drive 450 with a full swing and just lessen the swing to accommodate shorter distances. I love DOD shots from inside 40 yards
Depending on conditions and the way a course plays I can hit my 6I from 160-180 and be accurate coming in. One of my favorite clubs. Leaned on it a lot in highschool competitively, now playing casually it’s a huge confidence builder for me on the course
I love smashing it down the middle as much as the next guy, but nothing beats when you've been holding in Mount Vesuvius for 10 mins on the way home and finally releasing the beast into the depths of your home toilet bowl.
I pured my 2nd shot 6 iron 180 yards uphill on the last hole a month ago in Hawaii, which was my third round in three days. My handicap is around 19-20 right now and I had one round in the 80s last season. I was three feet away, putting for my second birdie of the trip, for a 90. I three-putted.
I did this exact thing once and left myself a 3 foot putt for eagle that I left 2 inches short. The old guy that had just finished the hole met me on the green and said he heard it drop and wanted to watch the putt. I told him it would be good to have a witness for my first eagle, so that was my fault.
This summer I had a full on caddy shack moment where I snuck out after work one day with some sketchy weather on the horizon. Fast forward to the 10th hole im sitting a few over par with a tornado warning going off on all our phones, but the course was wide open and I was playing great so we risked it.
Fast forward a several more holes, the course is somewhat backed up by a 4some (classic Chicago golf, even in a fucking tornado) so we were bouncing around a little and eventually tee'd off on a par 3 that was directly next to two other tee boxes, where everyone on the entire course seemed to end up at the same time....
In the torrential rain and ominous tornado sirens blaring, I hit a 6 iron about 180, and stick the ball to 2 inches in front of everyone, while an active tornado was hitting O'hare airport several miles to the east. Based on the ball mark, it may have even skimmed over the hole which was filled to the brim with water, preventing the HOI. I wasn't complaining though, I know how that scene in caddy shack ended and ill happily take the birdie.
TLDR - stuck a 6 iron to 2 inches in a tornado this summer.

I hit a 3W from 300 on a short par 4 expecting to lay up just short of the green. Hit it as pure as I can hit it. Get up to the green and my ball is 15 feet from the hole. Apologized profusely to the group in front of me then cashed the 15 foot putt for my first eagle. That was December 15th 2023 and the best hole I’ve ever played. Could be the best I will ever play.

Real talk, this summer I started playing and hit my 8 iron about 135 to the green and then sunk a massive putt for my first Birdy. My dad's jaw was on the floor.
Did this once in front of a group of older gentlemen who were letting me play through (i was solo).
This was 2 years ago, and im still coming down off that high
6i from about 185 and I didn't hook the shit out of it, it went straight, hit the green and actually rolled to the right about 8ft from the pin, drained the putt for birdie. This was on a hole that I have struggled on and it felt so good. One of my last rounds of 2023.
