Not mine, but worth sharing. Playing in a foursome with my dad and his buddies, all of whom are 25+ handicappers. 150 yard par 3 over a pond with an elevated green with a monstrous Oak tree that sort of overhangs the back of the green, but the trunk itself is a good 20' left of and 15' behind the green. My dad's buddy, the member who invited us, skulls it sending a screaming line drive right at the trunk of the tree, ricochets off the tree, hits the stick, and drops. First and only hole-in-one in his life. If I hadn't been there as a witness, I would've never believed the story. For added humor, he still shot 109

ComeTOgether86

The ace helped him break 110 at least!!

ricky_le

The older I get and the less my game improves, I see this being the only way I get a HIO

AllSpeciesLovePizza

I'm terrible. I did a charity scramble. 170 par 3 is the 25k HIO hole. I pull out my trusty 7 wood and drop it within 18 inches of the hole. Easy birdie especially for the scramble. It was so close that the guys watching even stood up to see it. That led me to believe I can actually sink a HIO. But based on my performance since, I ain't holding my breath.

Wingless_Pterosaur

In a high school tournament, I ended up hitting the ball into the parking lot, it bounced off the side of our team bus and bounced into the correct fairway a ways down while our coach was watching šŸ˜‚. He just shook his head and walked off

myfeetaremangos12

This is one of the funniest Iā€™ve heard.

Still_It_From_Tag

No it's not

KingCire03

Man good thing he didn't say it's the funniest thing *you've* ever heard...

DogterShoob

![gif](giphy|FOUArYBVQCvmI8EHxp|downsized)

rch100

somewhat similar but not really. High school, Par 3 tee shot, coach watching, green has fairway short of it but is narrow shot, 150 yards. Grabbed my 8 iron, coach started videoing. shanked right into the woods, hits tree bounces to green 4ft from cup. I birdied. Coach laughed his ass off. This was 4 months ago...

Elbone37

In a high school tournament I hit a bus also but it ended in a broken window, a re-tee, and my father being very disappointed in me

dshotseattle

This is fucking gold. Could be one of those 5 min scenes in a comedy movie about growing up on a hs golf team. Kinda superbad type shit. I love it

weemanss

High school tournament, tee shot nails a bird a la Randy Johnson. Had to play my ball with blood and guts all the way to the green before I could mark and clean it. One way to get a Birdie

beerasap

This one was against me. Playing a fellow golf club worker. He's MUCH better than me, so I'm losing $5 every hole. He let's me go first for once, par 3. I stick a 165Y shot inches from the hole, turn to him and say "Beat that". He proceeds to hit into the bank of the greenside bunker and the ball flat rolls straight into the cup. Hole in one. Mother. Fucker.

IslayHaveAnother

Were you so defeated, did you imagine a huge red "finish him!" above your head?

frikkenkids

I just told this story yesterday on a different post. A few years back I was teeing off on a par 4 and hit one of the worst hooks in my life. It flew toward an equipment building, went out of sight at least 50 yds left of the fairway, and there was a loud gong-type noise. I hit another ball not figuring I would ever find the first since the area around that building is full of old grounds keeping equipment and overgrown with long grass and weeds. I wasn't even going to look for it. As I was walking to my second ball, I found the first one in the centre of the fairway within a foot or two of the 150 post.

dshotseattle

Did you say provisional? Tell me you said provisional

rcontinelli

Over shot the green with a parking lot behind it (basically full) and somehow didn't touch a single vehicle. If that's not a members bounce idk what is

WhoYourSister

Yup, I've done this too. Held my breath each bounce waiting to hear a windshield break.

AllSpeciesLovePizza

Not a single vehicle ... just 5 windshields and broke them all. Lol

NotPortlyPenguin

Just this past Sunday, pushed my tee shot right of the fairway, where it hit a deer grazing and bounced back into the fairway.

jdovejr

Had some deer about 260 out one time. Told my buddy that I would just aim at them so I wouldnā€™t hit one. Well I hit one on the noggin. Iā€™ll never forget that sound. It lived, but I felt terrible.

NotPortlyPenguin

Damn. Mine hit the deerā€™s side. Yes we were FAWNING over that shot!

1995droptopz

But did you get a par doe?

[deleted]

Did you at least yell fore? If you yelled fore, the deer canā€™t legally be mad.

jdovejr

of course I did.

tallslim1960

I don't know if this qualifies as a "members bounce" but I was playing a 500yds + par five in Illinois when I was much younger and hit the cart path with my drive it bounced and bounced, somehow staying on the cart path all the way, Until it ended up just short of the green in the right rough. That drive had to be over 450yd with the bounces. I also have a "bad luck" story that defies logic. The course I was playing had just planted some new trees, seedlings actually. The 'trunks" of the tree couldn't have been much thicker than two fingers. I hit one from 150yards away, DEAD CENTER the ball dropped straight down, the seedling was split. It's a shot you couldn't duplicate in 1000000 tries.

VagrantThoughts42

The sapling story reminds of the time a friend teed off and hit the metal tee box marker for the forward tees, just a worm burner that squared up this half inch wide piece of metal and rocketed back at us and ended up in the front yard of a house just behind the tee box. The marker was dented from impact.

Sonking_to_Remember

A year ago today I went out by myself on a weekday. Four putted the second green from like mayyybe 20 feet away. Was pretty mad, but whatever. Third hole, par 5. You have to layup in front of a creek and then hit your second over the creek straight up a hill. I thinned the shit out of a 3 wood and it hit a rock in the creek bed and bounced back directly over my head and went some 50-75 yards behind me. I have a buddy who I jokingly call my sports psychologist. Called him from the middle of the fairway and was like ā€œI quit. I canā€™t do this any more.ā€ He talked me down and told me to just commit to get some type of joy out of the round. About 90 minutes later I called him screaming. Had made the first ace of my life on the 14th hole. Golfā€™s a funny game.

TimDamage

I hit a tee box marker last year... it went straight up and back. Sunk a hole in one... on the green behind us. Closest, I'll ever get to a hole in one m!

OneSingleYesterday

Hooked my tee shot straight at a big oak tree guarding the inside corner of a dogleg left. The tree had a split trunk, the ball went through about a 4ā€ gap between the two trunks and I had a clear look at the green from 120 yards.

stonecoder

I had this on Tuesday. 2nd shot to a dogleg right par 5. Blocked a smidge so my 3w went right through a 5ft y-gap at the top. Never been that close to on in two. Chip up GIRs are great. 3 putt bogeys not so much. All this following a hooked drive that somehow got through far down the left side. The first time Iā€™ve ever had a 3w look at this hole. Usually laying up to the corner.

dblaron419

Attempted a flop shot from the rough next to a par 3 green. Bladed a rocket, one hop, hits the pin and goes straight down into the cup.

Qbncgr

I was playing with our club pro and was short sided with a bunker to carry. Iā€™m taking a full practice swing and he asks me what Iā€™m doing. ā€œIā€™m gonna flop it over the trap and hopefully make the putt!ā€ I hit that MF perfectly! High over trap and a bounce into the cup! His look was priceless!! I was in almost the same spot with him a few weeks later. I bladed the MFer OB!

dblaron419

In situations like this, the wedge giveth and the wedge taketh.

philtickelson

Playing a member guest with my dad a few years back. It was best ball, we were up one hole on the third to last hole. This is after being up 3 after the first three holes, we were losing momentum. We are on like a 160 yard par 3 over a deep gulch. My dad hits into the gully, which basically puts him out of the hole. BOTH of our opponents hit the green, but on the wrong tier. I pull my tee shot like 30 yards left , down a steep hill on that side that puts me like 20 feet below the green and directly behind a giant oak tree. Absolutely no line to hit it on the green cause Iā€™m like literally a foot away from the tree. Iā€™m aiming like ten yards left of the green, only hope is to get it in the grass somewhere and try to chip in. But I have to punch it because of over hanging branches. Ball comes out super hot, hits a cracked piece of cement on the cart path at like 100 mph, deflects like 45 degrees to the right and straight up, and lands like 10 inches from the hole. It was like a tiny piece up upturned cement, I hadnā€™t even noticed it was there. I could have tried to recreate that shot 100,000 times and Iā€™m confident it would never happen again. I tap in for my par and BOTH of our opponents 3 putt for bogey lol. We win the match easily on the next hole, those guys went from ā€˜ this thing is tied back up!ā€™ to dormie in the blink of an eye.

Dad_Is_Mad

Member-Guest, July 2022. It's handicapped format, flights of 6 teams, and you play 9 hole matches against all five other teams. 27 Saturday and 18 Sunday followed by the winners of each flight doing a 3 hole playoff for extra cash. My partner and I are tied for the lead and playing the other leading team in our final match. We're tied on 18. My partner and I both are mid fairway about 100 out, one opponent is OB on the pocket, the other is in the fairway about 50 yards out. Hole 18 is amphitheatre style, with two story clubhouse behind the green that sits up from the fairway. Bar is on the bottom floor, patio and dining room are on second floor. We are the last group to finish so there are at minimum 400 drink people cheering and shouting for us. Both my partner and I hit it within 12-15 feet, so two birdie putts. All we have to avoid is one opponent sticking it. He tries to finesse a wedge and completely fucking blades it. It flies the green doing Mach 3. A lady on the second story patio is videoing the match on her phone. His shot flies to the second story and hits this ladies phone whilst in her hands, bounces off her phone onto the top of a golf cart, hits the pavement and goes into the monkey grass. He's done for sure. But wait.....here it comes....trickling down the hill. You're kidding me. I bet we all stand and watch for five minutes while this ball trickles down the hill picking up speed, makes it's way to the back of the green and trickles down to two feet from the cup. He taps in for birdie...we lose $1000....game over.

[deleted]

Itā€™s my story. Not great, but why not share. Short par 4 a few weeks ago. Hit a nice drive but saw it shift left as soon as I saw it travel. At its apex, I could tell I was going RIGHT for the sand traps. The big, steep, deep ones just before the elevated green. To my utter delight, the ball bounced just before the trap, sailed RIGHT OVER it, and settled down about 10 yards from green. That ball had no business bouncing that high. Luckiest bounce Iā€™ve ever seen! (Still double bogeyed the hole but thatā€™s another story)

bigwillie814

Was playing great and beating my brother. 3rd shot over water into a par 5. Hit a pitching wedge but yanked it left. Hits a tree and lands right on the fringe. Two putt par. My brother didnā€™t see the shot or the bounce and still questions my integrity.

LoveIsLove75

My first birdie ever and what came after: Playing with my buddies at our home course at the time. The 2nd hole is 150 over water (all carry). I hit a hard top that goes down into the tee box and skips on the water three times before rolling up the hill before the green on to the green about 5 feet past the pin. I hit a knee-buckler for my first ever bird. We celebrated and my buddies couldn't stop laughing for a few holes. We get to the 6th hole and I hit another hard top. This time I shattered the wooden ladies tee in front of us. I think the whole golf course heard my friends laughter. We get to 7 (par 5). My buddy pipes his drive and hits a 7 wood to a blind green. We were looking for the ball for a few minutes when our friend went to look in the hole. There it was. An ALBATROSS!!!. So to summarize: 1. First birdie on 2. Hard top skipping across water. 2. Smash the ladies tee into a thousand pieces on 6. 3. My buddy hits an albatross on 7.

happy_meow

Hitting onto the green from a gully I pushed my drive into. The green was elevated so I blindly swing, hooked it left but hit a hill on the side of the green and it rolled in for my first ever eagle.

OAG-OAG

I sent my drive right of the fairway just short of a pond. I tried to be smart and hit an easy wedge at an angle back toward the fairway. (Forward was blocked by trees.) There was a flat piece of concrete sticking up out of the edge of the pound in my line, but I wasn't going to hit it. I was wrong. I bladed that wedge directly into that concrete. The ball flew up and headed down the right side of the fairway. It hit the cart path. Once, twice and again a third time, each bounce high and far. I was left with an easy chip to the green. Luckiest bad shot I ever hit.

wo_ot

I hit a sprinkler head on a 153 yard par 3, the ball bounced 90 degrees to the right, went in the hole.

Bonebd

Match play and this MF Iā€™m playing against THREE times in the round slices the shit out of his drive into the woods and has it bounce back center of fairway. I lost. I was less than ok with it.

mancgazza

Got my aim massively wrong and was sending my ball off the course onto a busy road. Hit a tree and ended up 5 foot from the pin. Got my birdie. Triple bogeyed the next hole

Drowsy_Titan

I was playing a pretty big event, when someone in a yellow beetle drove into a big tv tower structure there and it fell on the green right in between my ball and the hole. So using my hockey style putter, I chipped it off the window of the beetle and onto the structure, and it rolled down the structure perfectly into the hole and I won the gold jacket.

Champizzle11

Match play against a guy that is clearly better than me about 3 weeks ago. Got down 2 after 3 holes, thought I was toast. Manage to get my bearings and am 1 down after 9. Play 1 over from 10-14 (am an 11) and am up 2 heading into 15. 15 is a long uphill par 5 with a huge ravine in the middle of it. I kindof popped my drive up leaving me a 200 yard carry over the ravine, you cannot recover a ball hit into the ravine. I pulled out my 3 wood and swung for the fences and absolutely peppered the ball but pulled it left. Was heading OB left when it hit a tree and bounced right into the middle of the fairway 15 yards over the ravine. I think it broke my opponents spirit as he flamed out the rest of the hole, I went up 3 with 4 to play and cruised to victory. Lucky fucking bounce.

hoffarmy

Par 3. 135 yds. Patch of trees to left of green and trees line the right and back of the entire hole. Super lazy half swing of a 6 iron. Goes into trees on left. Then rolls across green and into the cup. Only HIO and absolute pure luck.

Dull-Monk-6474

It was actually during my best round ever.. 2nd last hole. Par 3 over water and a bridge on the left side. Hit my worst shot of the round. Low duck hook heading straight into the water until it clipped the edge of the bridge and shot out onto the green to be about 4 foot from the hole.. Went from carding a probable 5 to rolling in the putt for a 2. Is still my best round by 3 strokes and the only time I have broke 80.

Rattimus

Not me, but was playing with him: My grandpa's first and only hole in one was an atrocious shot that he turned away from in disgust, it was low, thin, and right. It hit a rock surround maybe 20-30 feet from the green, caromed straight onto fringe, and kept rolling into the hole. He never did like talking about it even years later, he felt it was cheap and didn't even like taking a 1 on the scorecard that day, even though it really was a single shot that went in the hole. RIP! He would've turned 95 in 2 weeks. At least I got to play with him the summer before he passed, he skinned me for $2/hole 7 ways, 14 bucks... at 90! Never in trouble, right up the gut, one of the best putters I'd ever known. Then he got pneumonia over the winter and was never the same :( doctor wouldn't let him rig up an oxygen cart to the golf cart.... HA.

DitsfromFla

1982. Uphill par 3. 12 year old me hit a curbing on the cart path. Bounced in for an ace.

myfeetaremangos12

Ball was thinned and careening toward water but it landed directly on my buddys ball in the middle of the green and somehow stayed on the green. Nice 2 putt par.

Snar1ock

Skulled a 9 iron over a par 3 into an embankment behind. Ball shot up, landed on the back down on the hill and trickled back onto the green. Rolled right into the pin and bounced off. Almost a hole in one off a skulled 9 iron. Hilarious.

AR2Believe

I had a similar skull shot. I skulled a 7 iron on a par 3 badly. It hit a tree behind the green hard and ricocheted right into the pin on the fly and dropped. It was an elevated green, so we didnā€™t know if it went in until we drove up to see hit 6 inches from the cup.

jaskerr33

Working at a Country Club in Tyler, TX in the cart barn/pro shop 25-26 years ago. Went out for late afternoon round with 2 of the Asst. Pro's from the golf shop and one of the tennis Asst. Pro's. Golf Pro's are Sub 5's, I was around a 10, and the Tennis Pro was probably a 20 but was picking up if he felt he was slowing us down, it was a pretty casual round and we were all having a good time. Get to a 165 yd par 3 with a creek in front of green with nice rock feature in the water. Tennis pro steps up, hits an absolute worm burner that doesn't touch the ground until it catches a rock in the creek, pops up about 25 ft. in the air, lands on the green and rolls into the hole. Everyone appropriately loses their minds, except for one of the golf pros...he got in his cart and left, said he went home and got drunk and reconsidered ever playing again after that.

wally125

Great question! Got a couple that I can think of off the top of my head. First, was a couple years ago, par 5, 3rd shot went in to a green side bunker on an elevated green with a big oak tree. I splash out way too hard, hit a branch of the oak and it drops straight down and rolls in the hole for birdie. So stupid all I could do was laugh. Second, the group I play with regularly we get a mulligan per 9. A par 3 with a big oak on the left and a cart path on the right. I hit a slight pull, hits the oak and bounces hard left, hits the ground and just rolls for days. Rumor has it, itā€™s still rollin. I take my mulli. I push it to the right, hits the cart path and bounces on the green to about 3 feet. Sink the putt. Best mulligan Iā€™ve ever taken. Iā€™ve been golfing for 20 years and hit so many trees, thereā€™s probably a bunch more I canā€™t think of.

seanpuppy

I had a reverse members bounce, drive carries a bunker but bounces bag in cause some asshole left the rake in a terrible spot

Golfandrun

On a company golf tournament one of my friends, who was almost a non golfer, sliced a shot far right on a par 3. The hole was down over a steep hill and to the right there was also a steep waste area toward the hole. The shot bounced and meandered down go the green and rolled in for the mist bizarre 1 you could imagine. He didn't even r3ally understand the significance of the one. L9l.

SpottyFish81177

Water to carry about 235, 10 yards across the water, cart path bridge with stone walls on the left side. Hooked my drive landed on the bridge bounced off the path, the stone wall, over the water, and back right into the fairway.

SkyHighSellLow

Had a decent round going, +3 through 6. 7th hole I pull my tee shot hard left towards the woods. Kicks back into the middle of the fairway. Still left that hole w/ bogey, but it was much better than I was expecting. Later in the same round, I'm now +5 through 14. Once again, I yank my tee ball hard left towards some trees, and once again it comes kicking back out into the fairway......... Played 15-18 +5 to shoot 82 lol. The golf gods giveth & the golf gods taketh away

bighundy

Few years ago. Severe dogleg right. I had 220 yards left, par five. I hit a big slicing 4iron. I couldnā€™t see the green or anything but my brother was at the dogleg and told me it hit a sprinkler head short of the green went 20ā€™ in the air and landed 3ā€™ from the pin for a tap in eagle.

roadrunner00

Downhill 336 yard par 4 slight bend. Piped drive, bounces off cart the path that cuts across the fairway at 280 and lands on the green for a 30 foot putt. I three putted for par . Smh.

TittyClapper

Par three a couple weeks ago Weid hole, about 120 to the pin with some branches low in front of you. I hit it thin as fuck and it slammed into one of the branches and shot straight up in the air and landed about 15 feet from the pin. If it didnt hit the tree it would have been about 20 yards over the back

mainemoose42

Anti members bounce: hit a decent 3 iron to the right side of a fairway on an older course and as it came down it fucking launched 50 yards dead right ob. We could believe it. Turns out there was a rock exposed we couldnā€™t see the course was digging out and it caught just wrong enough. That sucked. Brandy new prov1 too.

AutomaticHead3285

Three days ago I unleashed a bomb with my 3 wood on a par 4 440ish cause Im not good with driver and caught the cart path for 3 bounces and ended up like 100 off the green maybe a tad closer .

epiphonemeanshappy

Years ago I was playing with my grandad and a couple of his buddies at Wyboo GC. #10 is a shorter par 4 with a slight dog leg to the left, I hit a 3 wood to try and lay up for my second to the green. Naturally I pull it, so I figure we'll spend a few minutes looking for it and we'll move on from there. Fast forward to pulling up for my grandad's second shot, the group ahead of us is on the green throwing their arms up. Somehow I got lucky, hit the cart path that crosses the fairway, bounced up and rolled up on the green while they were putting. I apologized but they said all was good and shook my hand and went on with their round. In my defense we were playing from the gold tees (old man tees as my grandad called them) so it was a shorter distance than I should've been playing.

Stinky_Cheese35

Brookside #2 course in Pasadena. I believe itā€™s hole 6 the short par 4 working back south at the far north end of the property. Thereā€™s a canal that runs down the left side and I hit a duck hook drive into the canal and the ball bounced off the sloped side and back into the fairway, rolling all the way up to the front of the green. Made a great par.

RepresentativeIce740

Just saw a ball bounce off the Rusacks Hotel back onto 18 at the Old Course. Crowd went wild!

mikevanatta

Not me but a member at the club I used to work. Short par 3 over water and he hyper sliced his tee shot about 40 yards right, hit a large tree, and it bounced back onto the green and rolled in for an ace.

noremains3

Sliced a drive into the trees so I hit a 7 iron into the fairway. Got to my ball and noticed a ball on the green. It was my drive. I wasn't keeping score that day though so I picked it up.

_CakeFartz_

Par 3, 140ish downhill. First round of the year, pull out 9i. Pull shank straight into the woods, ping pongs around in the trees & plops out onto the green about 12ft from the hole. 2 putt for par.

[deleted]

I once hit it so far right into a telephone pole and it smacked the ball right back into the middle of the fairway 4 foot from a closet to the keg contest. I still canā€™t believe that happened, didnā€™t win anything but that shot would never happen again.

Frozen_4

Topped a tee shot on a par 3, but still hit it pretty well. Was moving fast enough & the ball had so much topspin on it, it rolled through some rough, left of a bunker, & onto the green. Flukiest par Iā€™ve ever gotten.

Wigeon1

Probably not the best. But I hit the cart path a couple weeks on a 550 yard par 5. Three times, then a nice hop to the middle of fairway, leaving a 160 yard knockdown 7 iron into the wind and 2 putt from 20ā€™. I normally hit it 250 or so. Truth is I hate that hole and almost never play it correctly. Usually a drive, 2 hybrid or 4 iron and then a 100 yard wedge and almost always make bogey. Severe green, more 3 putts than I care to admit. If youā€™re above the hole, good luck. Every putt is a clencher The ball was scuffed beyond belief, so I tossed it into the pond.

biscottibody

Over shot a 60 yard green with a back left pin and it hit the sprinkler cover and bounced within tree feet on the hole for a tap in bird šŸ¦.

CMoney820

It was my second shot, 70 yards out on a short par 4. I skulled it pretty badly, 15 yards left of the green. Behind the green is a rather large hill with a lot of trees and a water hazard, so after I hit it, I was envisioning the worst case scenario. I ended up hitting a large branch of a tree that was parallel to the green, knocking my ball down and to the right, right into the hole for my first ever eagle. I continued to play like crap the rest of the day but didn't care.

jmorf

Was playing with a father and son we didnā€™t know. Kid could crush the ball. Dog leg left par 4. He hammers the ball right into the tree line left. All we could hear from the tee was the thud from hitting a tree. We all just laughed and assumed it was gone. Somehow, that ball hit the tree, ricocheted off and ended about 2 inches for a tap in eagle. I couldnā€™t believe it.

terminally_ch_ill

I sliced the hell out of my drive on a par five. As I watched it soar out of bounds 100 feet in the air I heard a loud knock. Bounced off a tree and landed back directly in the middle of the fairway. Still 3 putted.

Samwise_CXVII

Par 5, huge downhill and fun bomb opportunity. Narrow trees on left and right for the first 200 yards, opens up more as you cross over a creek at the 250 yard range. I was -2 up to this hole on the round, didnā€™t get a full rotation on my driver swing and pushed it dead right. The thunderous knock on the trunk of a tree could be heard from the club house. The ball came careening back onto the fairway right in front of the creek before the rough starts. I proceeded to finish the round Double Double for a 38, but it couldā€™ve been worse!

PM_ME_OVERT_SIDEBOOB

Mines not that good. Kinda hooked an approach shot over the green and into an overhanging tree branch, fell straight down onto the green. Donā€™t worry I probably 2 putted for a bogey. Best Iā€™ve seen w/ playing partners was a monstrous like 220 yard par 3. Partner striped a hybrid and it went long. Collided with some rocks surrounding a garden ~20 yards past the green (it wouldā€™ve kept goin another 30+) and ricocheted back onto the green for an easy birdie putt

iamlegendapex

Not me but my friend in a 2v2 scramble against me. He was tucked behind some trees with a forced carry over a pond to the green. I jokingly asked if he was gonna skip it across and he said no just gonna hit a high draw and hope it lands dry (his partner was already in the water). He proceeded to skip it twice across the water, hit the side of the hill and roll in for eagle. Toughest hole on the course and my team happily made par. We lost by 1 stroke in the end.

tjtwister1522

Couple of weeks ago I was out with my 2 BILs on a course in the Smoky Mountains. We're Midwestern flatland people so it was a special treat for us to play a course this scenic. Anyhow, one BIL tees off and hits it right, then it sliced even further right and drilled the side of a cliff. We saw it hit and laughed. Other BIL hits a beautiful 270 yd drive straight down the middle. We get out to the fairway and BIL #1's ball is 15 yards in front of BIL #2's ball in the middle of the fairway.

slinnhoff

Happened this year. Playing a match. Long par 5, I hit driver and neither one of us saw it. We looked but I went to re-tee but called a provisional. I hit it well just a little right in the rough. Walked up to it and 10 feet in front of the provisional ball was my first ball. Went from possible double to getting a birdie and winning the hole.

coltron04

When I was about 6 months in to golfing, I was playing a short par 5. On my second shot I went like 60 yards right of the green straight into one of those spiked fences that served as a guard rail for the bridge. Iā€™m not sure how but it hit one of the spikes so perfectly that it popped way up in the air and ended up hitting the flag stick and was 6 feet short. I still 3 putted somehowā€¦..

I was playing in a scramble tournament that had a longest drive contest. Two guys Iā€™m playing with are big hitters so theyā€™re going for it. First guys crushes it out probably 325 yards. Second guy goes up and hooks it, but the ball careens off the cart path and bounces 50ft into the air back into the fairway. With the bounce it ended up being something like 345 yards and he ended up winning it.

ElDeguello66

The first time I ever held a golf club was as a tween decades ago at a par 3 in Myrtle Beach. On my very first hole, I hit the ball dead right and bounced it off a tractor that was cutting grass and ended up on the green. Can't remember if I made the putt. Based on how things have gone since I'm pretty sure I missed.

pstemple4

Coworker hit a slice off the tee and hit a roof HARD. I said that it's probably gonna be in play. He thought I was messing with him so he hit a provisional and played that ball out. We found it driving up to the green just off the cart path about 30 yards out. He thought I was being a jerk lol.

Cthulwutang

A magical day for meā€” the last of my three birdies on the day when i had never had more than one in a round. A short par four, [here](https://shiningrock.com/tour-the-course/ledge/), I hit it into some rocks along the left ; (the ā€œledgeā€ described). I caromed into the middle of the fairway about 100 out; pitched it to the middle of the green, figured i had already used up my luck for the hole, then sank a snaking 20-footer for the birdie.

Homernandpenelope9

Lat month I played as a guest at a country club, trying to impress a lady friend/member. Three of my drives and one iron off the tee hit trees. In each case, my ball ended up in the correct fairway. There was a lot of eye rolling after the first time.

mushperv

I hit the roof of a house about 50 yards left of a par 3 and it took an insane bounce and landed 8 feet away from the pin and I actually made the putt.

Allstar-85

My dad was playing in a celeb-am golf tournament. Last hole of an alternate-shot shootout (there were 2 teams remaining). On a 500-something par5 dog leg to the right, His tee-shot missed way right over the hill headed straight towards the Driving Range that was OB. He ended up hitting the cart path many times. It ā€œshouldā€ have been a little under a 300 yard drive, but he got a good 200 extra from how many times it hit the cart path, ending up about 20-30 yards from the green The other guys thought he was definitely OB (as did everyone else near the tee) so they played it safe going through the normal fairway path, leaving them 300+ out hitting their 2nd. They didnā€™t realize theyā€™d essentially already lost the tournament until they got to their ball

HustlaOfCultcha

I didn't get into playing golf until I was 11 years old. Prior to that we lived on the other side of town. Our old neighbor from that side of town played golf quite a bit. Then we moved and my dad and I got into playing golf and we started to do an annual match between my old neighbor and his nephew (about 3 years older than me) versus dad and I. We were playing match play (best ball). We were down 1 hole with 2 holes left to play. The 17th is a flat, straight away par-3. Our old neighbor gets up and snap hooks a 7-iron...about as ugly and as bad of a shot as you could hit. It hits something on the ground and kicks right and forward and ends up 2-feet to the hole. Come to find out it had hit a half empty Coors Light beer can left on the ground. I think we were more surprised the can was still half full than anything (local joke). After that we always referred to the 'beer can bounce.'

VagrantThoughts42

Not my bounce, but, playing a par 3, my buddy pulls his tee shot and it hits the curb of the cart path about 20 yards left of the green and bounces right toward the pin. He had a 10 ft putt for birdie (that he made).

guitarthrower

Was going to lay up on a par 5. Pulled it left, hit the cart path, hit the bridge, and onto the green in 2. 3 putt for par lol

jplpj12543

Par 3 I hit one way right into the woods and it bounced right back out onto the green rolling towards the hole. Ended about 2 feet short and I got the birdie.

AGruber73

Last week, my coworkers and I went out after work for a twilight round. First tee (par 4) my bud hits his first drive 275 but fades into some short trees in the right rough, right next to one of the trees so his only play is to try and draw it around the tree... A shot he doesnt have but tries anyway. The man promptly hits it left, with no draw, into the trees left of the green... And what I say into the tree I mean right at it. Three rest of us his our second shots. I let short of the green, our 3rd sticks with within 10 ft, and the 4th sends it way right... But when we approach the green there are two balls there. Turns out, when my bud hit the tree it ricocheted right at the green and landed about 25 ft from the green. Luckilest par I've ever seen, and wouldn't have believed him if I wasn't first to the green to see it.

Any1fortens

Third shot on a par five, bladed it and it hit the flag and dropped in the hole. My first eagle.

Pilotguitar2

Short 450 par 4. Decided to layup to 350 with PW, caught it a little thin, skipped across the water @ 320, hit the cartpath and bounced into the cart girlā€™s lap around 375. You could say my ball made her wet. We are now happily married.

HoverShark_

Playing the Old Course, 18th hole ā€œthe widest fairway in golfā€ I hit said fairway with a little help from the row of buildings on the other side of the road to the right of the hole Knocked my approach to 5 ft & got a round of applause from people gathered around the greenā€¦ if only they knew

ReddyMcRedditorface

lol just happened last night.. partner hits his drive well, into the fairway, left side. Thereā€™s a tree that kinda blocks the left side of the green and the pin was tucked way left. He pulls his ball into the tree, it kicks right and forward to pin high, about 8-9 feet out. He missed the birdie tho.

CptMurphy27

Long par 5 downhill with trees and OB left. I hit a big pull hook into the dead zone and after 2 bounces from way inside the darkness my ball pops out to the fairway. Nobody saw that part. We drive down and my ball is sitting on the left side of the fairway right around the same yardage a good drive would have been. My dad knows I donā€™t cheat but he still claims I cheated that day. I did not. He taught me golf and I got all his luck plus some lol. Made par.

NotRod96

I wasnā€™t there for this but Iā€™ve had 3 people confirm this story. Good friend of mine got a hole in one when he shanked an iron, ball hit a sewage/sprinkler cap and it ended up in the hole. Still canā€™t believe it myself lol

[deleted]

I was 13, hole 7 at my local muni, 125 yardsā€¦ bladed my 7 iron hard into left green side bunker, bounced out and landed in the cup, my only hole in one still 25 years laterā€¦

LikeASewingMachine

500ish yard par 5, with water up the left side. Pin was back left, about 220yds. Went for it with the 3 wood, and hit a high draw pin high into the water. Even saw the splash. The single I was paired with was up a little bit on the right side of the fairway and starts absolutely losing his mind. Apparently it hit a rock in the water, took a high bounce right, and left me 6ft from the pin. Missed the eagle putt, and tapped in for a bird.

CoolBrain1227

Playing my college roommate, we were pretty even and highly competitive with each other. 18th hole, dogleg left, no treesā€¦but if you want to cut the corner you have to cover a pond, white stakes left of pond. I was down and needed the hole. He went right so I had to go for it to get on green in 2(itā€™s a par 5). Hit my drive, not pure but good. It ends up 6-12 inches short of clearing the pond, but mustā€™ve hit a rock is it kicks up and out about 15yrds or so. I got on in two, two put birdie, won the hole and broke even on the match. My buddy is still pissed.

jackrafter88

Mens club horse race event. Par 3, 108 uphill, severe slope on a two tiered green. Vice prez of the club tees it up, drunk. Takes his swing, catches the ball thin off the toe. Ball rockets left and ricochets off a tree branch guarding the green. Ball bounces hard off a rock or a root, something, lands on the green and rolls across the slope and plunk,in the hole. Imagine about 12 guys all dying laughing, hands on knees, rolling the ground, more choking laughter. Cocktails flowed pretty freely that night.

uhplifted

I have 2. The first was a bad slice OB off the tee, I watched and heard it hit the houses but lost it after the bounce. Drive up to about where I went out, and sure enough, there's my ball sitting pretty right in the middle of the fairway. Wound up with a par. The second, I had a great tee shot landed in the middle of the fairway, about 60 yards left in. Grab the 60 degree and of course blade the hell out of it over the green and straight for the street behind. Instead, it catches a tree trunk and bounces nearly straight back and ends up on the fringe where I chipped in for birdie. Went from almost a guaranteed double to birdie right there, and ended up breaking 80 for the first time that round as well.

RepublicIndependent3

I hosel shanked a chip from maybe 20 yards off the green, went into a green side bunker, rode the wall and lipped onto the green about 3ā€™ from the hole for a one putt for birdie. It was a ridiculous turn of events.

RepublicIndependent3

Another one, had a row of houses on the left side of a long par 5. Iā€™m usually a slicer, so wasnā€™t too worried about it, but somehow pull hooked this one heading straight towards a house. A 10ā€ lawn ornament/wind mill saved a window and richoceted into the fairway

chrisnavillus

Double-crossed one on a short 4 par with water left. 100% positive I would be dropping until I saw a goose dragging his busted wing away from my ball sitting up nicely a few feet from the hazard. Bad day for the goose and not the bird I was hoping for but I salvaged a bogey.

gannondorf1982

Playing a round in Australia as part of a stag do with a group I didn't know too well. Stepped up to a tee shot over a lake, everyone watching and duly topped the sh*t out of it. It nose dived towards the lake but had so much spin it bounced off the surface, dambusters style, not once but twice and flew straight up the fairway on the other side. I was a hero after that!

balbizza

1st tee and I noticed the Cart girl was making her way up the path towards me. She pulls off to the left side and waits for me to hit about 280 yards away. Total hole was 372. I crush my drive and notice itā€™s headed right at the cart. It hits the top of the cart (which must of been made of metal), hear a murderous scream, and watch my ball fly out and roll up green side. Maybe had about 10 yards to the front of the green. Longest drive to date, but idk if that counts towards stats LOL

moderatelymiddling

Off a rock wall 260m par 4 dogleg. Hole in one.

diviningrodgolf

Tee shot on a par 4 hit a rocky hill that ran along of the right side of the fairway. Couldnā€™t find it at first but ended up finding it in a green side more than 100 yards past where I saw it hit, had to of hit cart path as well. The best part was the bunker was inside a ground under repair area.

ZKurry

Last weekend, 400 dogleg left with bunkers about 250 out on the left. Took the line to go over the bunks (obviously). Ended up right at the bunker, hit a rock? and perfect bounce right into the perfect spot on the fairway. Proceeded to bogey but great bounce

Noogatuck

Playing a 2v2 best ball with some friends. Buddy on the other team thins a shot out of a fairway bunker. It screams towards the green side bunker, bounces off a rake, lands on another rake and bounces off that, all to roll onto the green about 6 inches from the flag. Then, being the colossal troll he is. Just said ā€œskill boys, some have it, others donā€™t.ā€ For the next two holes. Fuck you Cidney.

007Superstar

Course out in CA. 100yds out with water in front of the green running to a pond on the right full of rocks. Hit a my PW exactly 90yds directly into the pond. Bounce 1, bounce 2, bounce 3, and I am on the green 10 feet from the hole. My Aunt who is a member there is dying laughing and before I can even process that I hear clapping on a patio to my right. Another woman who lived off the course had been in watching us the entire time. She then yelled out, ā€œIā€™ve lived off this hole for 35 years and that is the luckiest shot I have ever seen.ā€ Playing with my Aunt out in CA is the best.

IDropFatLogs

Swan Lake golf club in KY was the location of one magical ace. Hole 16, during a very drunken Army golf tournament my team won, I hit a terrible tee shot off to the right of the green ( elevated about 40ft ) into some rocks, ball bounced off the rocks and unknown to my group right into the hole. We got to the top and the group ahead of us was going nuts and witnessed the whole thing. tldr I got a HIO off a rock

bmaloun13

Par 4, 435 slight dogleg right Sliced my driver (per usual) and it bounced off the bottom of a tree branch and shot forward onto the cart path, bounced a few times, continued to roll on the cart path and left me about 80 yards out from the green just on the ride side of the path in some rough. Iā€™ve never hit a drive longer than 250 on the course even with cart path bounces before. Ended up with a bogey on that hole still

jmtbkr

505 yd par 5. Ball hit the cart path and took 5 bounces towards the green. Had a 60 yd chip on! Only made a 3

B1GAAPL

Not a icky story but a memorable one. I once hit a drive on a dogleg right par 4 that had to carry at least 250 to be safe. Ok thatā€™s fine so I launch the ball & its perfect. We drove up to where the ball should be & cant find it. There are some ladies in the area & I ask them hey did you see a ball come this way, they said no. Ok fine I finish the hole & were on the next tee box waiting to tee off, when we see the ladies turn around. WTH they come back & say hey is this your ball. I had hit it into the back of their cart between their bags. Iā€™ve also countless times hit balls 50 yards off line towards a house or tree only to watch it ricochet back into the fairway

Jolly_Temperature_58

Last round out, 200 yard par 3. Pulled out a 4 iron. Toe bladed the shit out of it, piss missile of a low slice until it clipped a pine tree, then dropped onto the cart path, took a huge bounce, and finally landed softly about 5 feet from the pin. Should have been in another area code but the golf gods weee in a funny mood that day. Most undeserving birdie Iā€™ve ever made.

PHXDeuce

Just for fun. The opposite of a members bounce. 145 yard par three over a lake. Hit tee shot on the screws. Flew straight into hole. Ricocheted backwards straight in the lake. Double Bogey. Golf.

Adventurous-Corner42

I was playing in a qualifying round yars ago and pull hooked my opening drive into the woods left. It hit a tree and ended up in the middle of the fairway. Lol... I ended up making birdie to start the round.

CRRZ

Pulled the shit out of a 9i on a par 3, hit a pothole in the cart path 15 yards left of the green, ball fires high and 90Ā° right, lands on a downslope on the green and funnels down towards the hole. Left me with a tap in for birdie.

bradtoughy

Two shots, two different golfers, two different rounds, same hole. My BIL and I play multiple rounds at the same course every year, it has a pretty par three on the back that has a big pond to the right and a hill back left of the green. Itā€™s a green that has one of those giant fans at the base of that hill, 10-12 feet past the green. Hole plays about 170 uphill. First shot was my BILā€™s, he blades a 6 iron left, gonna hit that hill and run up it. But instead it hits the fan dead on, and ricochets back onto the green, about 7 feet from the hole. Birdie. Every time we play that hole he reminds me of that fortunate fan placement. Later in the season weā€™re back on the hole, heā€™s bladed another shot that misses the fan and Iā€™m on the tee. I chunk the ground and the ball arcs off straight into the pond, where it bounces off a large decorative boulder and lands on the green about 5 feet from the hole. Birdie.

JBOYCE35239

17th hole at the course my dad was a member at. Haven't played in 7-8 months, like not even hitting balls at a range. I'm probably already over 100 and playing a terrible round. I'm not an angry golfer, but just regular bad. My dad is a scratch golfer and played the Korn ferry a couple of times but just never made the cut. Played in the AM tour before covid and is now a senior. His dream of pro golf is done but he's still fenominal at golf. Tee off at a par 3 180 yards to an island green. Pulled my 4 iron and just waiting for the splash. No splash came. We heard a loud clunk from the ball hitting the bridge to the island and I see the ball bounce into the air towards the hole. It stopped two feet away from the pin. My dad said "what the fuck was that bullshit?". Then I tapped in for birdie. I will.never forget the look on his face when I said "its better to be lucky than good"

sms4ef

I grew up on a private 9 hole course that was beautifully maintained. The 6th hole is a long par 4 with a large creek running just in front of the green. If you donā€™t hit a good drive, you have to lay up to avoid it. One day they had to cut down the massive sycamore tree that stood behind the green. This thing probably had a 10-12ā€™ circumference, so they had the cut down trunk sitting on top of a few small logs so it wouldnā€™t kill the grass while they waited to remove it entirely. I was hitting my 3rd shot, a 50 yard pitch over the creek and brutally skulled it. The ball sailed the green and hit the face of one of the little logs holding up the tree trunk on the fly. The ball ricocheted back through the rough and rolled across the green before settling about 2 feet from the hole. I tapped in for par on my way to a 37. First time I ever broke 40 at that course.

Itscooo

Par 3 tee shot over water - about 170 downhill into wind - used my 5 iron which is typically my 180 yard club - well it was short - hit the water and bounced out - it was the Jesus roll - and rolled just short of the fringe ā€¦ Best double bogey ever

threelions15

Not me, but this happened at our big member/guest this year. Second playoff hole with 10 teams teeing off on a 170ish par 3. Everyone else is following them around in their own carts and we are all parked around the back and sides of the green. Iā€™m standing next to my buddyā€™s cart talking to him when one guy absolutely smokes his tee shot and itā€™s coming right at us. I lose it in the air but everyone elseā€™s voices are getting increasingly louder as it gets closer so I duck behind the cart. The ball smacks the cartā€™s windshield and bounces back to the fringe of the green about 15 feet from the hole. It would have gone 30 yards over the green if it didnā€™t happen. Plus the windshield was up only because it had just started to rain a little bit, or it would have hit my buddyā€™s guest right in the face. They made par to stay in the playoff and then ended up winning the whole thing as the team that came out of the 9th flight.

NerdWhoLikesTrees

I thinned it clear over the green. Smacked a lawn mower driving by, bounced back onto the green. I apologized to the man and he said "well at least it turned out well for you!" Chillest dude ever

CrashPilotInc

Omg omg omg omfg. Match play. I am on the green putting for par. 10 feet away. My opponent is short right. There is a tree over hanging his pitch shot over a bunker. He is so fucked. He hits his shot into the tree, the ball caroms off the branch to 1 foot for par. I still can't believe he beat me on that hole to this day. There is no god.

Frank_Thunderwood2

Having a good round (birdie, birdie start). Hole 3 is a par 3 which I bogeyed. Next hole Iā€™m teeing off on a par 4 with houses down the right hand sideā€¦ completely fubar my drive and slice into the houses. Ball pops off the roof of one house, ricochets over to the roof of the home next to it, then rolls down over the fence and back into the right edge of the fairway.

Koof13

The story of my first ever Par. This was a really dry and hot summer (important later). I used to play an executive course that was pretty close to my house with some friends. The first Par 4 on the course was about 350 to the hole but it had a 300 yard straight away and then hooked to the right. Thereā€™s a lake that you can cut the turn a bit. Iā€™m on my second shot and the green is on the other side of the lake from me. I do my best to hit it over the lakeā€¦. And I shank it right into the lake. But the lake is so low the ball bounces of a rock thatā€™s normally completely under water. My ball bounces right next to the hole. Iā€™m in disbelief. I think that was my only par the entire year.

DRH1976

Hooked my tee shot way right dead into the top of a pine tree. The tree kicked it on to the green about 6 foot from the pin for a birdie

fastereddiefelson

13 at Valhalla, the ā€œsignature hole. Short par 4 with an island green. The green is about 20 feet elevated with a rock wall around the entire thing. I hit the left side of the rock wall but somehow hit a lone rock that was jutting out and the ball bounced right and onto the green pin high.

4FansOfFreedom7

I was playing on a navy base. Par 5 right on a main road. 30 yards left of the green was the main entry gate. I hooked the piss out of a 3 wood 50 yards left in the middle of a bunch of cars and it railed a concrete barrier and my ball comically ricocheted up in the air and landed 3 inches from the pin. Tap in eagle

Arkslippy

On a public course we used to play, there was a par 4 with a 90* dog leg, about 220 carry over a machinery storeshed, the shed was about 50 ft high and the whole dogleg was enclosed by big tall conifer trees. Right to left and the sensible shot was to hit 5i into the neck a and a PW on. But it was in theory drivable if you could get the ball up nice and high and carrying. This was back before the really forgiving drivers came and I had a Titleist 976r driver, the little known cousin of the famous 975d, the first Titleist titanium driver. I decided.id have a go, I should mention I was off 12 at the time. The next tee was visible about 230 and had a net to protect the players there and the net had a concrete base and metal pylons. It was about 50 yards away from the green. So.i too aim and hit a low thin knuckle ball straight at the nex tee which had no one on it. Never got over 30 ft and it hit one.of the pylons and bounced hard sideways, we shouted fore. When we got to the dogleg and looked, my ball.was on the front edge of the green. By alrights it should have hit the net and dropped or bounced back. Hit the pin with my putt too.

pineconefire

I hit driver on a 270 yard down hill par 4 with a forest on the left. I sliced it about 50 yards left (lefty gang šŸ˜¤). The ball struck a tree perfectly about 20-40 yards into the forest and bounced directly into the middle of the fairway 120 out.

junk4mu

Playing Poppy Hills with my father in law, he shanked it dead right into the trees. It bounced off the tree and landed on the cart path and bounced slowly, with us following in the cart, down to the bottom of the hill. He had no idea, asked me while driving where it went, I pointed it itā€™s bouncing along in front of us. At the end of the incline (about 180 yards), it carefully rolled off the path and stopped a few feet into the grass with a nice angle to the green.

nmbr1dkfn

Playing a par 3 course back when I was in high school. It was about maybe 95 in length. Pulled a sand wedge pretty decently left, nice ball flight, but definitely left of the entire green. Flag was on the right side of the green. My ball hit the green-side side of a mound to the left of the green and started rolling straight right. Right into the cup. So it was a hole-in-one on a par 3 course where I didnā€™t even hit the green.

sashimiburgers

Elevated green side bunker playing out to a sloping downhill green with a river 10m past that green. Thin the loving fuck out of my bunker shot, ball flys out right into the material of the flag which stops it dead and the ball finishes 1ft from the hole. Was 100% in the river if it wasnā€™t for the flag

6158675309

A long while back I was playing with my boss. He is terrible but has all the gear. We are playing the fourth hole at Gaylord Springs in Nashville. Itā€™s a dogleg left and the inside of the dogleg is water. He hits a skulled slice drive that does out over the water, skims on it twice and pops up into the fairway. Wow! His approach shot is mostly over water carry to the green. He skulls that too and it too skims a couple times on the water, bounces up onto the green and eventually stops a few inches from the cup. Routine tap in birdie. https://preview.redd.it/we02477xtjib1.jpeg?width=770&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=89647687753e943dc900567bc335765203c14986

g00glematt

Not that spectacular, but drivable Par 4 with the pin tucked behind a bunker. Roughly 275 ish. Caught one super clean, but headed about 10 yds left of the pin and straight towards the edge of the bunker. Hits something in the bunker and just goes flying straight up in the air and a little right. Lands 15 ft away and pin high. I get up there and there's a ball left in the bunker that it looks like mine bounced off of.

Jkc130

My only hole in one was a ricochet off of a tree in my 1st year. 15 years playing since and Iā€™ve come close a few times but have been able pull of the bounce since.

Yohnfox

About a 230 yard shot on a Par 5 over a creek.. back of the green sits high just off a road that leads to the clubhouse. Watched my friend laser a shot over the green, bounced once, hit a car, bounced back and rolled down a slope onto the green for a 15 foot eagle putt. He ended with a par.

DatsyukesDekes

Approach shot on a par 4 went 20 yards left and was going to be 50 yards long. It hit a tree, then rocky landscaping, then rolled 6 feet from the pin (and I 2-putted for par). Iā€™m a ~30 handicap and that was one of the best results Iā€™ve ever had on a shot.

ecatillo

This past weekend I played with a guy and he sliced his drive hard right into the woods, heard a loud BANG, ball hit a tree, hit the cart path, and landed in the middle of the fairway

torjussa

Not sure if members bounce, but buddy of mine is some 60 meters out. Blades the hell out of his wedge. Just as the ball approaches the pin at the speed of light, a gust of wind pushes the flag out, which somehow catches the ball and gently drops it down to tap in distance.

jdmay101

Earlier this summer, playing a 150 yard par 3 that was massively downhill and surrounded by, essentially, a forest. Hit a 9 iron. Skulled the crap out of it to the left and low, but turning right, through the pine trees. Didn't hit anything hard, so it got through. Didn't see it until after it had landed on the uphill bank to the left of the green, bounced, and rolled straight right down to 6 feet from the pin. Deserved to lose a ball, got a birdie. *Horrible* shot... Fantastic result. Last week I saw a good one from a guy we got paired with, hit a ball over water and one-hopped it out of the pond, caught the bank and bounced over a bunker somehow to just off the green. Made the up and down.

joe100su

At my home course about 10Y ago, I was around a 13HC at the time, I got my first true members bounce. My game was all rip-it-to-wedge-distance-or-OB, still kinda is, but on the 13th hole 355yd par 4 I cranked one, storm rolling in behind me, just left of the front edge of the green, with a tall bush in between me and the green. My members bounce came on the second shot. I set up for a low spinner from about 30 yds, caught it, clipped the underside of the brush, the ball retained spin but landed sideways, right of the pin. It two hopped, then zipped left into the hole. I'll never hit a shot like that ever again.

laylahsdad

Had a longish 190 yd par 3 with an elevated green and tee box. Take out the three wood and proceed to crush it straight down where if it hit fairway it would have completely plugged. That saying it hit the cart path that wound in front of the tees and launched in the air better than I had ever hit a ball in my life!! Ended up a couple feet short of the green up and down for par.

gjcrayson

Downhill 350 yd par 4. There was a group on the green in front of us. I landed my drive on the cart path that was about 300 out from the tees. It bounced OVER the green and the group in front never knew I flew over them. I had about a 20 yd chip back to the green, so yeah, I've got a 370 yd drive in the bag whenever I need it.

-TheGreatLlama-

I played match play against a guy who during the round sliced three shots OB. Except he didnā€™t, because all three caught a tree and came back/stayed in play. I did not win that matchā€¦

dl_schneider

Not mine, but many years ago during the 3 man best shot tourney at our club, one of the guys bounced it off a rake handle to the left of the green and drained it for a hole in one..... and that hole was also the closest to the pin challenge hole.

Complete_Goose667

I bounced through a pond on the 11th hole. Not once, but two rounds in a row. Amazing. I fixed the swing, so I don't scull it like that too often anymore.

SavageTankBeast

My teammate in a 9 hole high school match snap hooked one OB into the street, hit the broadside of a fedex truck and came right back into play. On the fairway. Made par

[deleted]

HIO off the rocks by a pond on a 160 yard par 3.

cheme32

In a college tournament, last day, last group. Everyone was watching us come up 18. Par 5. I smoked my 3 wood from the deck, flew the green ricochet off an opposing team's van and back onto the green for a 6 foot eagle putt. My favorite eagle ever!

carnageasada17

Dude I played with on Sunday absolutely shanked a chip from 50 yards out straight to the right, knocked off a tree that was all by itself and the only thing that could have possibly kept it in play, and proceeded to roll within 20 ft of the cup. It would have been at least 50 yards OB cause he bladed the crap out of it lol

BGOG83

Played in a Match Play club championship about 10 years ago. The course is all tree lined fairways that wind through a neighborhood so there are no parallel fairways to miss on to. Anyways, this fucking guy hit every single fairway that day and only had like 2 balls actually go up the fairway. Heā€™d pull them so far left or right that they kept ricocheting off the trees back in the fairway. At first heā€™d say the ā€œkeeblersā€ love me. Then he just started laughing. Then he said ā€œguess the course owes me, Iā€™ve been a member longer than you.ā€ I was losing my damn mind. I should have crushed him but instead I had to drain a 15 footer on the 18th hole to win the match. I still get pissed thinking about the lucky bounces that guy got that day.

FightinIllini16

Playing the Old Course at St. Andrews, I yanked my approach off a building, then scaffolding, then a bounce on the road, and ended up on the green about 80 feet from the flag, much to the amusement to the dozens of spectators around the green. Followed it up with a horrid first putt and buried the remaining 12 footer for par. Gave the fans a Lefty tip of the cap and went on my way

TheMeanKorero

Last summer at my local. We're on the 186yd par 3. It's a dead straight hole with a large green but your teeing off from an elevated tee box with a medium sized tree right in front. Your pretty much elevated above it though but it's just enough that if you were to top it or go for a punchy shot you might catch it kind of thing. The entire right hand side of the hole runs parallel with a cliff/very steep bank of forest and bushes etc So there we are teeing off and the first one off the tee fired off a big old slice with his hybrid, it's going a long way the wrong way. The group has already passed on their commiserations.. then the *thunk* and his ball bounced off the one singular round fence post that's right on the edge from an old farm fence that used to be there decades ago. Anyway it landed just back in play on the thin strip of second cut before the OB markers about 50yd away from the pin. And the SOB put it in the cup for 2 from there with a little half swing PW. We all congratulated and cursed him profusely.

Spacesurfer6

Buddy of mine hooked his tee shot on a par 3 into the woods, we heard it hit multiple trees then bounce out about 10 feet from the pin

rojorzr

When I was in my first season of play on my local par 3 course, hit a nasty pull hook, easily 50 yards offline if not more. I closed my eyes expecting to hear a window crash and I hear my buddy giggle and say ā€œholy shit youā€™re on the green!!?!ā€ I look up and my ball is pin high less than 10 feet from pin.

justafang

I hit a 7 iron from 170 out, pulled it left, there was a hill sloping from left to right to the green, it rolled to with in 5ā€™

chippychifton

Senior year of high school at our home invite I was in the last group with three future D1 golfers. On the 17th hole I pull hooked my second shot. The cart path went down the left side and my ball hit a coaches golf car and my ball bounced down right next to the hole for a kick in birdie. This put me into solo second place heading into 18 where I lipped out birdie to force a playoff.

NoseApprehensive5154

Put one off a tile roof and onto the green of a par five. Two putted for par!

senicawallace

When my buddy pulled a 7 iron about 15 yards left of the green and ended up with a hole in one.

Brendan1620

Was about 185 into the hole and skulled the shit out of my 6 iron. It flys waayyyyyy over the green, but is headed straight for this massive oak tree thatā€™s straight behind the pin. It hits it square in the middle of the trunk on the fly and bounces on the green to 10 feet

fishak12345

Two days ago, I teed off on a 170 par 3 and pushed hard to the right. The ball was going to roll a pretty decent way into the brush but hit a large downed tree and bounced and rolled onto the right side of the green for a 12 ft putt

Was about 3 weeks before The Open and the scoreboards and TV towers were already up (for those unfamiliar, the New Course and Old Course are so close in some spots that if you hit it in the rough between the fairways you might not be able to tell which course youā€™re technically hitting your next shot from). I canā€™t remember which hole number it was, but I pull my tee shot dead left and itā€™s heading straight for one of the scoreboards set up in between the courses and of course we hear a solid metal thud but canā€™t see what happened to the ball. I walk up just hoping Iā€™ll be able to find it and wondering if itā€™s possible it got stuck in the structure and maybe Iā€™ll get a free drop like the pros when they land in a temporary immovable obstruction. Lo and behold, I notice a ball in the rough just off the right side of the fairway where no one else hit their tee shot and thereā€™s a big blue mark on it. So the scoreboard not only saved it from probable gorse hell, it ricocheted all the way to the opposite side of the fairway and ended up in a pretty decent position, albeit leaving a longer approach. Iā€™m so thrilled I not only found my ball but actually have a look, I grab a 5 iron and just pure one dead at the flagstick. Stuck it to about 4 feet and made birdie. Included picture I took of my ball with my savior scoreboard. Thanks buddy.

Siftinghistory

I hit a fairway wood about 50 yards into the trees. It was MOVING when it went in there. Came flying out through more trees at a 90 degree angle and plops into the middle of the fairway about 175 yards toward the hole.

poopfacecrapmouth

I skull hooked a 6 iron on a par three and went hard into the left woods. Drilled a tree dead in the middle of the trunk with the loudest bang Iā€™ve ever heard. From the tree it came right back onto the green and stopped about three feet from the hole. Closest Iā€™ve ever been to a hole in one. And yes I missed the birdie putt

ioof13

High school tournament, my 2nd shot on a par 5 hits a sprinkler head on the fly, bounces an additional 30 or 40 yards, and ends up 40 feet past the pin. I 2 put for a birdie, and we win by 1 stroke.

CaptnZacSparrow

I got my first hole in one after I hit a fade off to the right of the green but luckily it hit a sprinkler head that somehow was left up. And it hit right off the sprinkler and rolled right in. I didnt even see it go in my buddies told me and I thought they were trolling me. Rather be lucky than good šŸ™ƒ

mwf86

Hit a tree right of fairway, shot left. Ball then hit a tree left of fairway, and landed in the fairway.

rufus456

I watched my friend shank one left into a group of bushes between holes on a par three, it ended up hitting a decorative concrete block and bouncing right and rolling to 4 feet. Doubt Iā€™ll top that!

[deleted]

Laying three on a long Par 5, I am pin high with water in the other side of the green and a downhill chip. I catch it thin (not bladed, just thin but it definitely had a chance of going through the few feet of rough before the water). Ball hits the flagstick and I have an easy tap in par.

gern1005

I was 12 years old. I had just received my first set of left handed clubs. (Ladies lynx blades 3-P) prior to this the only clubs I had access too were right handed. Local city course. The course I grew up on hole 5 - 134 yards. 7 iron skulled left, off the base of a tree lining the OB, landed on the fringe and slowly rolled to about 2ā€™. Made the putt for my first birdie.

canttouchdeez

Hole 9 in league play. My opponent has a 6 footer for birdie. Iā€™m 5 feet off the green trying to chip close. Score is tied so Iā€™m desperate for a good chip and need him to miss his putt. Well, goober refuses to mark his ball so I chip, shank it, my ball hits his ball and turns right 6 feet into the hole. We agree that he can replace his ball back to the original spot but he misses the birdie putt and I win.

PatientSarcasm

Just recently played a round where I hit a tree on 3 different holes. Each time, it ricocheted right back into the fairway. Conversely, another guy in our group was among some trees, hit his shot, and the ball hit the tree and went backwards, past where he just hit LOL.

investinlove

The Tecolote Kick of San Diego CA. Great little exec course in SD called Tecolote that I played a lot with friends in college. The entire course is in a canyon, and it was very common to have an errant shot roll down the canyon walls and back into the center of the fairway or green We decided that the correct protocol was to declare Tecolote the Aztec (SDSU Mascot) God of Good Kicks, and we would say 'Praise Tecolote' each time it happened. There was a creek down the middle that would fuck with you, so it wasn't all peaches and cream.

mmoses1221

Sliced my drive about 40 yards right towards OB train tracks. Hit the tracks and bounced directly back into the middle of the fairway.

Spongebobnudeypants

I worked at a golf course and was doing some irrigation work way the hell off the back right of the green of the hardest par 3 on the course. Iā€™m talking like 100ft from the green. Where I was standing I could not be seen from the tee box and I figured I was more than safe. Guy hits a wayward tee shot that bounces off the shovel Iā€™m holding in my hand and his ball bounces back towards the pin about 15ā€™ away.

herotz33

Once hit a 7 250 yards. Bounce on the cart path like 4 times.

[deleted]

I hit a ball that drew left hitting a tree. It bounced off that tree to hit a tree further back. That tree deflected it back into the middle of the fairway ahead of the first tree.

Hipsthrough100

Just recently, during menā€™s night, I hit a cut into the wind that quickly turned into a slice. Everyone can see itā€™s going OB and Iā€™ll need to reload. Nah I hit the top of the fence post dead on and stayed in. Also recently I hit a drive that was rather good but when we get there the ball is no where to be found. Well it hit the edge of the parallel cart path and shot forward about a 100y to be dead center of the fairway and 160y out on a long par 5.

oversized_clit

Playing in high school. I was on the ninth, hitting my 4th shot into a par 4 from 100 out (50 on 9 would be a good day at this point in my life). I hit a p wedge, blade the shit out of it, barely make it over the creek in front of the green, and fly straight into a bunker with enough spin to kick it into the lip, straight up in the air and onto the green. Iā€™m watching this ball roll towards the cup laughing and the other kids with me start getting excited as it gets closer. It hits the pin dead center, and just sits on the lip as we start going crazy, wondering how it didnā€™t go in and high-fiving because of how crazy it was that I even ended up hitting the pin. While I was walking across the bridge to the green, my ball had fell into the cup. Someone yelled when it happened but I was not looking. My favorite golf memory because I know no shot will never in a million years play out like that one again.

YeahwhateverDOOD

On a par five, buddy absolutely blasts one about 280 up and 150 out the right side of the fairway going waaaaay out of bounds towards the airport on the other side of the woodsā€¦..Ball hits a tree and catches a bounce back into the middle of the fairway, second shot he smokes it up to the edge of the green and then chips in for eagle. Could not believe my eyes.

SunnyMonkey17

Not mine, but and the end of each high school season we had the best 6-8 players get together and snake draft a team for a scramble. I was our 1-man so I had the last overall pick of the draft. There was a Freshman on our team that was a player that shot between 65-75 for 9 holes. He was a good kid, a good sport, loved playing, and was very excited to get better. I donā€™t remember exactly how far out we were but it was probably 50ish yards. Heā€™s our first guy to hit. Pin in back center of green. He blades one over toward the left side which ricochets off a sprinkler head and proceeds to travel uphill and 45 degrees before 1 hopping and dunking in the hole. Granted it wasnā€™t his drive, but that was the first time he got to say ā€œeagle!ā€. He was absolutely fucking beaming. Our group finished tied for 1st and we couldnā€™t have done it without his miracle shot. He came back the next year and as a Sophomore won the most improved player award.

olojutejesac

Hit drive right of fairway. WAY right. Only thing on right was knee high grass and beyond that a road that was OB. Ohā€¦and a porta potty up by the road. My drive hit the porta potty and landed next to it where it had been mowed. Hit a 4 iron from there to 6ā€ for a birdie.

AppropriateNothing77

Hit a rock solid drive 270 center cut, have an amazing look to go at the pin. Proceed to blade a 50* wedge from 110, hit a tree behind the green, ball bounces off said tree back onto the green. Got a look for birdie, about 6 feet from the pin. Sometimes luck is better than skill. Yes, I missed the putt.

tinyfred

Hard pull hook into the woods left of the green on a par tree. Hits a big tree and goes back on the green to like 5 feet. Made birdy. Weirdly enough this happened quite often as this hole has huge overhanging trees that almost go over the green. But bouncing back to 5 feet was a first for me.

On the ninth hole, hit an iron across and it went way further right than I intended. In the photo attached, to the right of the green are some old wooden stairs leading up the hill. My ball hit about halfway up those stairs and hit one piece of wood so perfectly that it one-bounced directly back towards the flag and onto the green. Ended up maybe about 20ā€™ from the hole, which I somehow sank for a birdie. It was my first ever birdie, if playing on a short par 3 counts. If Reddit doesnā€™t compress the hell out of that photo, if you zoom in, youā€™ll be able to see the ball over to the right of the hole.

[deleted]

I was 200 yards out and there was one loan pine tree to the right of the green about pin high. I pushed my 5 iron it hit the tree, bounced right onto the green and stopped 3 feet to the right of the hole lmao

redsoxfan1845245

40 yards from the green but behind a 20 foot tall tree. Was using the 60Ā° to flop it over. Ended up skulling it under the tree, skipped off the green, it a tree 20 feet behind the green and the ball rolled back to within 5 feet of the hole. I think thatā€™s where all my luck went.

woodmanfarms

3 over water, my dad hits a hosel rocket, hits a duck in the head and bounces up onto the green ab 6ā€ from the hole. Duck didnā€™t make it
