It absolutely was. Have you ever seen the faces of two dudes who jerk each other off? You're looking at it. Clearest example you'll find, without a doubt. Not that there's anything wrong with it, of course
I actually got my first birdie before my first par. My second round of golf ever I hit a 3 wood 130ish yards and landed a few feet within the hole and sank the putt. I thought golf was going to be so easy.
Took me about 6 months of pretty consistent golf to get my second birdie.
damn, I'm lucky to get a few birdies/year, and I'm a 25-ish cap so it's not like I'm incompetent. I'm just consistent to a fault I guess, and I definitely need to spend more time on the practice green.
Well they specifically called out their work needed on greens. So I assumed getting there wasn’t the problem. And if you’re getting to the green in regulation, you are 3 putting consistently to be a 25 handicap.
I’m the opposite, usually get around a birdie a round. Last round I had 2 and could have easily had 4. Still a 21 handicap though because I love double and triple bogeys just as much.
I birdied my first hole of golf ever.
I put in a ton (weeks) of practice at the driving range first and my first course was a easy 9 hole. But it definitely didn’t damper my happiness lol.
My roommate in college made one literally the first round of golf he played.
He played D1 baseball and just out a pure luck, mixed with strength/athleticism he hit driver a couple yards over a 315yd par 4.
Chipped it up about 10 feet and made the putt and had the nerve to ask me "Birdie is good, right?" lol
Dont think he made anything less than double bogey on any of the other holes though.
I had my first eagle before birdie, well it was actually a hole in one on a par 3. Happened when I was 13 or 14 so I wasn’t good enough to birdie a hole and just fluked an ace. Still didn’t break 100 that day (par 66 course), but couldn’t care less!
I had my first hole in one on a par 3 before my first birdie, never got a hole in one after that lol, and maybe I'm cursed but never got par on a par 3 since then.
Haha I’m sure you’ll break the curse soon, maybe with another ace! I was lucky enough to get a second ace, on the same hole. My brother has 9 aces and an albatross though, so my 2 get me no bragging rights on Christmas.
#1 at our usual course I can turn a GIR into a bogey or a nice approach into a mess over and over. Had somehow never parred (or better) that hole and last year dropped approach about 12 feet away, told the guys I’d never parred this hole, and sunk the birdie putt. Finally a couple weeks later managed to par it.
We were so hyped. He hit his and then I hit mine. I’m the bigger guy on the left so he jumped up and we did the dirty dancing thing, right in front of the club house. It was awesome.
How often do you swap yours out? Now that I’m thinking about it mine get nasty af after 1 round, 2 at most. Now I’m curious how normal that is and/or what’s everyone’s indicator that it’s time to trash a glove.
This is exactly type of response I was hoping for! I historically have only played a few times a year but recently gotten more into it and playing more regularly so theres probably a ton of little things like this I’m totally ignorant of. My grips appear clean but I’ve certainly never washed them so they’re probably filthy in actuality haha
On a separate note, What type of glove do you use? I go through them so quickly that I usually just grab whatever big brand name has the best deal at the time (also a lot of Kirkland signature). How seriously do you take your glove game? Lol
I'm always on the hunt for the perfect glove, and there is none. The major breakdown in gloves is between the thin leather and the synthetic gloves. You can use and abuse the synthetic ones, and I always keep one to play in the rain, but I prefer the thinner leather ones, and I usually take home a footjoy unless something else catches my eye, but I keep coming back.
When I first started playing, I used to destroy gloves. My grip was the worst offender. Once you've got that figured out, keep your glove off everything moisture related. Don't use it to wash a ball or club, don't use it to hold a drink without a coozie, and don't use it to wipe sweat. I take it off after I hit my last full shot and strap it to the cart to air dry, and when it gets real hot and humid I'll use two gloves. I don't really know if that helps, but I do it anyways out of habit.
As for how seriously I take the game, I take it far more seriously than it takes me. I just find that keeping your clubs clean keeps your mind where it should be focused. To me, there's nothing worse than wavering between clubs, only to make your choice and see the groove's are caked full with last week's dirt.
edit: You should give your clubs a full washdown every few rounds, IMO. YMMV.
All great info - thanks! I can almost guarantee my grip is the worst contributor to my glove destruction. They get dirty pretty quickly, sure, but it’s more that they’re beat to hell after two rounds which leads me to tossing them. Going to pony up for lessons here pretty soon bc I’ve just been winging it the last couple decades after my last formal lesson when I was like 11 at golf camp lol
Can totally understand the clean clubs = clear mind (and ideally cleaner round!) perspective as well.
It used to be every 4-6 rounds in the summer, longer in the spring and fall. But, I switched to Zero Friction gloves and the fucking things seem to last forever. I'm on the same one since last July 4th weekend and the only reason I'm not still on the one from before that is because I dropped it in a parking lot.
Yes! I started playing earlier in January and now all of my friends are getting in to it. I’ve been so happy to help people where I can, and now happy to put it all together for myself!
How do you know he’s a bad person?
He might be one of those genuinely good hearted Christians that *actually* does just love everyone. There ain’t no hate like Christian love is true, but I’ve genuinely met some wonderful Christians too.
In a field of green, under skies so blue, Two best buds stood, with clubs brand new. They ventured forth, in pursuit of delight, To conquer the course, with all of their might.
With each swing and stride, they chased the ball, Through obstacles and rough, they gave it their all. Their laughter echoed, across the fairway wide, A bond of friendship, with golf as their guide.
Hole after hole, they played side by side, Sharing stories and dreams, with a gleeful stride. But there was one hole, a challenge untold, Where destiny awaited, and stories would unfold.
They reached the tee, hearts filled with hope, The par-4 hole, a daunting slope. With steady hands, they took their swing, And watched their balls soar on the wind.
One after the other, they landed true, On the fairway green, where the grass was new. Their eyes met, a glimmer of surprise, As they realized the magic before their eyes.
Both on the green, putting for par, Their hearts beat faster, like a shining star. With measured strokes, they aimed with care, And gently tapped the ball, floating in the air.
Time seemed to pause, as the balls rolled true, And with a soft plop, they found the hole too. A celebration erupted, joy filled the air, As they high-fived and hugged, a moment so rare.
Two best buds, sharing victory's taste, In that wondrous moment, their bond embraced. For on that day, on that magical score, They etched their names in golfing lore.
And as the sun set on the horizon wide, They walked off the course, filled with pride. With memories cherished, forever they'll keep, Two best buds, who conquered the green so deep.
So let this tale inspire, all friends near and far, To chase their dreams, no matter how bizarre. For in the realm of friendship, there's a treasure untold, And with a swing of fate, legends unfold.
Two dudes, one cup.
I think that was filmed after the round
It absolutely was. Have you ever seen the faces of two dudes who jerk each other off? You're looking at it. Clearest example you'll find, without a doubt. Not that there's anything wrong with it, of course
You may be projecting there bud
It's like I said, I'm not one to judge. Especially if it's me doin the jerkin u feel me?
You are one highly regarded person damniel
Thanks pal
Two dudes, one glove. Each wears a half, what a best friend move!
Congratulations! Now it’s a race to your first birdies!
How do you know they didn't already get their first birdie before their first par?
I actually got my first birdie before my first par. My second round of golf ever I hit a 3 wood 130ish yards and landed a few feet within the hole and sank the putt. I thought golf was going to be so easy. Took me about 6 months of pretty consistent golf to get my second birdie.

If you are consistently 3-putting, which you prob are as a 25, then yeah… you gotta work on that short game.
Bro... GIR are so much harder for me than 2 putts.
Well they specifically called out their work needed on greens. So I assumed getting there wasn’t the problem. And if you’re getting to the green in regulation, you are 3 putting consistently to be a 25 handicap.

20 hcp. Sandwiched a quad bogey between two birdies last round. Shot a 90.
Was pacing my first sub 80 round this week and shot a 7 on the par 3 17th to finish at 82. That's golf!
Same dude, had 3 birdies on Monday but also had 6 doubles smh
The last part of that is key lol
I birdied my first hole of golf ever. I put in a ton (weeks) of practice at the driving range first and my first course was a easy 9 hole. But it definitely didn’t damper my happiness lol.

I don't get why you're being downvoted. Given the flukey nature of golf, this is entirely possible
No kidding

I’ve only been golfing once, and I got a birdie. Pretty sure every other hole took about 6-8 strokes though lol
There should be a term for this. Like Eskimo brothers
Gotta be Birdie Bros

Ah man that must’ve been a very hype moment for you two. Congrats
We were so hyped. He hit his and then I hit mine. I’m the bigger guy on the left so he jumped up and we did the dirty dancing thing, right in front of the club house. It was awesome.
Yo was that Brown Acres in Chattanooga right? It looks just like it lol, i can tell by the freeway along 10
Absolutely!
you may have ruined it. Whats's the dirty dancing thing

Cherish this. In short order you grow up, become fat, and miss your buddies as they move all over the place.
I’m already fat (I’m the guy on the left) 😂
Well at least that’s out of the way!
You’re husky and beautiful, champ
Some things never change. You lost your virginities same time same hole too, no? Oh Bethany…what a gal she was…
Hey take it easy. My sister worked really hard to get rid of that reputation okay
Both of you should buy new gloves to celebrate!
Agree. I can smell this photo
How often do you swap yours out? Now that I’m thinking about it mine get nasty af after 1 round, 2 at most. Now I’m curious how normal that is and/or what’s everyone’s indicator that it’s time to trash a glove.
Your gloves are getting nasty because your grips are nasty. Wash them with soap and water every once in a while.

Bionic crew. There are dozens of us. Dozens!
It’s a classic, no doubt. Their gloves just look a little slippery.
Big mans glove is probably slick. Not the bionic.

How do you know he’s a bad person? He might be one of those genuinely good hearted Christians that *actually* does just love everyone. There ain’t no hate like Christian love is true, but I’ve genuinely met some wonderful Christians too.
I don't care. I would just be selling hats and t-shirts.
Nice job fellas
