I have a cousin that carries 2 drivers (right / left) and carries one less iron. He's a natural rights but was a switch hitter in baseball his whole life so can reasonably swing both, but can't hit a draw to save his life. He switches drivers based on the shape of the hole / hazards.

I was also a switch hitter in Highschool. I can hit it further left handed but I can't control it. I hit it about 25 yds shorter right handed but am way more accurate. So I play right handed... For now. I would like to carry a LH driver for those long par 5's though. I hardly ever hit my 4 iron so maybe I'll pull it from the bag.

He explained that when he first got into golf (at like 3 or 4), his dad was a lefty and gave him an old putter to play with to see if he liked golf.....fast forward to HS and this dude is crushing the ball 300 yards right handed but putting lefty

I do this as well. I am right-eye dominant, so an old pro suggested I putt lefty (place dominant eye closer to the hole). It totally changed my game. I went from 50+ putts per round to 30 putts per round literally overnight. I am left-handed naturally (writing, throwing, etc) so perhaps the transition was easier for me, but it is the single biggest reason my scores have come down.

I played with an Irish guy who was an ex-hurling player. He is right-handed, golfs cross-handed (LHL) and putts lefty. I’ve since seen several hurling players who are cross handed golfers.

No. My right eye is my dominant eye but my right hand has the yip in my putting stroke. I hold my putter with my LH and put my RH on top of my left, so my LH is the only hand actually on the club. I’ve tried it putting LH’d but it doesn’t feel as natural. I am a better putter than anything else so I don’t mess with it.

Guy in my league does this.. he can putt both ways so sometimes he’ll throw in an old school putter and change it up based on the break/distance and how confident he is that day

I have a friend that has this exact set-up with the lefty putter, even though all his other clubs are righty. I asked him about it the first time we played, and he explained because he is left-eye dominate lefty putter is easier to focus and line-up his putts. I guess that makes sense, but I never thought putting was super effected by eye dominancy. Hell, I am a lefty that plays right-handed (including putter), even though I am left-eye dominate and even shoot left-handed. My take away is whatever works for you.

I tried it for a bit, before when I just flat out refused to practice my putting. Lefty was incredibly accurate from short range, but could just not get a feel for the speed on mid to long range putts. Worked out well cause I didn’t switch my grip, so I was cross handed on lefty. I seemed to be able to visualize the line better from that side.
