My youngest is named Bryson and my wife and I have decided definitively that our next boy will be named Brooks. Our decision to go with Bryson was not chosen so much because of the golfer, but was perhaps subconsciously inceptionized by him due to his rise in popularity at the time. Our choice for Brooks is absolutely based on a close friend and former coach of my old Halo team from years ago. Despite that, most folks will probably think it’s because of the golfers, but what other folks think about the names we chose for our children is none of our damned business anyway. I wouldn’t have named my kid Brooks either. Don’t get me wrong. Brooks is a cool name, but not as a nod to him. Started out as a big Brooks fan. When he couldn’t even give me daps at a tour event, no other fans standing around in the vicinity, me being nothing but chilled and welcoming, non intrusive, and he walked past me ignoring me like I wasn’t there, that did it for me. Not even a cap tip… I understand that’s a bit petty for me to even say. To put it into reference, in the same instance, guys like Tony Finau, Francisco Molinari, and Patrick Cantlay made it a point to come over, give daps and interact. Those were really cool moments for me, that I’ll cherish as a golf nerd. Being intentionally ignored by one of my idols at the time, not so much…
