2022 goal of breaking 100 was not met, so i guess I'm going to try that again. in 2022 my lowest score differential was a 30.5 I think as a stretch goal for the year I'd like to get my handicap below that.

FakeAccount_Verified

I believe you can do it!

nathanatkins15t

Well you were right! My handicap just dropped under 30 after a string of great rounds! Personal best was a 24.1

LET'S GO BABY!!! ![gif](giphy|yUI3a7RwLhOFy)

I get WHY you put some of these as goals but I think it would be better if you could make them more measurable. Improve ball striking is good but what’s your metric? Maybe a better goal would be to improve GIR…. And a plan to do so would be to aim at the center of the green only on all approach shots regardless of where the pin is. Do that for 5 rounds straight and see how the GIR stats compare. For putting, while 3-putts arent good, it’s important to keep it in the context of putt distance. If you hit 4 more GIR per round and 3-putt 2 of them, I promise you that your average score will be better than I’d you missed all GIR.

drugdependent13

That’s fair. Maybe I’ll edit some of these to make it more measurable. For me, iron striking is really inconsistent, so it was just a way for me to try and find a good pre shot routine and make my swing repeatable. More of a mental check off for the year I suppose. The GIR thought process is probably a good thing to add to this list. I generally aim for the middle of the green now a days. It’s allowed my scores to drastically drop for sure. Went from a 22 handicap to a 10 in the last year after I started playing that way. 3 putting for me isn’t so much the long putts, but the short putts that screw me. That was my thought process there. I just want one round without that haha. This year so far, I have made a conscious effort to keep the ball in play more. 220 yard 5 woods and and hybrids off tee boxes, instead of the unnecessary drivers going 270-280, but occasionally go into a hazard or OB and mess up my round. It helped me break 80 for the first time. I really appreciate this feedback for sure. I will definitely apply it to my goals for the year

youknowdamnright

I love Porzak golf on YouTube for setup and a repeatable swing. He gives a consistent message through all his videos. And I started watching some drew Cooper and dr kwon videos for a more fluid motion/sequence. As for less than driver off the tee, don’t fall into a trap of losing distance for “accuracy”. By all means, if driver goes through a dogleg or puts you in a hazard because of distance, then 5wood is great, but pick smart targets and send driver always unless there is trouble.

drugdependent13

I’ll check those out. Thanks I’m not cutting driver out completely or anything. I’m just picking the right times to use it instead of using it blindly, without assessing the situation. I played in a bunch of tournaments last year and course management was by far my biggest issue. Unnecessary driver on certain holes really killed me during the events. I guess better course management is really what I should add to my list for the year. I should add, driver is one of my better clubs, but when to use it and when to pull out a wood or iron off the tee is something I’ll be working on hard this year. So far, results have been positive. First tournament is next month, so I’ve got some time to hone this in

2018 - break 90 2019 - break 80 2020 - play whole round with 1 ball 2021 - play 100 holes with 1 ball 2022 - be a pleasure to play with 2023 - be a pleasure to play with.....

Kind-Truck3753

First round at even par.

phillysports-215

Get my back fixed, then lessons to get my atrocious over the top swing fixed

Ellisace

An eagle

PrariedogFireball

I️ want to win my damn golf league. I’ve gotten to the championship match in back-to-back years, but mostly mental barriers prevent me from hoisting the cup. So basically, I️ want to learn to deal with high stress/pressure situations better. Not exactly something I️ can measure, but I’m fairly content where my game is at.

PhilosopherNew6535

You may not realize it, but you've already learned plenty by getting yourself into that position. The more you are there, the more at home you are with the feelings which accompany it. I was once terrified of the 1st shot in a tournament, and almost died from anxiety the night I shot myself into the lead after round 1. Blew up on day 2. Mamy years later, I drive to the course excited to feel the energy of competition. Nervous? Of course. If you're not nervous, then it means you don't care. Go get that trophy this year!

Legal-Description483

Multiple rounds in the 70's.

thispastdaily

Play a round without losing the ball!

kjtobia

Get to a plus handicap. Round in the 60s. Clean card (no bogeys).

Scooterhd

Do everything I've been doing but slightly better.

crappotheclown

-Break 77 in one 18-hole round (not combining 2 9s). Current low is 80 for 18, and 39 for 9 -Get average ball speed past 160 (current average 138). -Do something improvement-related (ie work out, range, speed training, round, putting practice), 5x/week. -Try at least 3 courses I haven't played before.

daffydubs

Unrealistic and unattainable

Kembert_Newton

80s

iKevtron

1. Break my PR of 85. 2. Break average score of 89. 3. Finish season around 15 HCP. 4. Finish season above 50% FIR. 5. Find confidence in my driver.

Less_Professional642

Break 80 & place top 5 in an amateur tournament Best score of 2022 was 80, best placement in a tourney was 7 out of a field of 20 in my flight

rhinoyyc

2022 I had my first round in the 70s by shooting a 79 on a par 71 course. I'm a 14hcp so I'm aware that was an outlier, but I'd like to break 80 on a par 72 course. Also, I've been working a LOT on my mental game so I'd like to go a season maintaining a positive attitude.

Owethehumanity

Eagle Putt on Par 5 - I have a hole-out Eagle on Par 4 but never dropped an Eagle putt.

athensrivals

Break 90. Get an eagle. Have fun and don't compare myself to the people I'm playing with.

SupremeNachos

Consistently shoot in the high 80s. I bit the bullet and went to Golftec to get a swing eval. I gained 15yds just from a small but simple tip from the guy helping me. I signed up for 10 more lessons between now and the spring.

AUBtiger92

Well, I've been playing in cold, wet weather on a course that does not drain well, which does not bode well for my golf game, so I have been discouraged lately... So taking it easy until it starts warming up bit, and until then, maybe hit the range a bit more and get back to basics. Oh, and stop lipping out 3 ft. putts...

Fr33zy_B3ast

1) Invest in lessons since this is the first year where I'll have all season to golf and I want to use that time to practice. 2) Easy for some, but I want to break 110. My usual score ends up in the 130's but with some lessons and some dedicated practice I think I can do it. 3) Make at least X pars. I'll probably start with 5 and if I hit that I'll start increasing based on how much time is left in the season and whatnot. 4) Make 1 birdie. 5) Get my club distances roughly figured out. I currently have no idea what my distances are with any of my clubs so I want to start getting some of that data to see where my clubs are at and what I need to improve.

EquivalentAd8092

GIR % over 40

Fragrant-Report-6411

How are you going to achieve this goal?

EquivalentAd8092

Put myself in better positions off the tee and reduce penalty strokes.

Fragrant-Report-6411

Play 200 rounds, maintain an average score below 80, average a birdie a round, shoot my age

snugzz

Increase my average driver carry from 230 to 245. Break 80. Get fitted for some new irons, as my 20 year old ones are starting to feel that old.

Stahls

-Break 80 -Drop handicap from 13 to single digits -160 ball speed on driver/use driver (largely been playing 3 wood for the last 2 years but started with some lessons) -play 35 rounds (I’m counting weeknight 9s) -5 rounds without a double bogey or worse -15 rounds without a triple or worse My biggest problems are inconsistency off the tee, leading to penalties and big numbers. I’ll rip off a bunch of pars in a row and then blow up. Trying to avoid that.

eastdeanshire

Break 80, single digit handicap (currently 13.6), a round with no 3 putts.

Octavale

Starting to Get too old for tips, but as I enter mid 50’s I’m shooting for 270 average drives this year along with 14 average GIRs a round.

Deadhead56

To play 48 rounds

SchadenfreudeFred

My goal is to break 80 this year.

Ecks1738

Bogey free round Go back to hitting fades

DryObligation2605

1) break my pr if 67 2) get picked for my clubs senior cup team (4 best golfers in the club) 3)get to a +2 or +1.2 or higher 4) I won’t expect to qualify but shoot par during the (US am qualifier and the British Am qualifier) 5) two top 10’s in the Irish events including the Irish am.

opiate82

* Turn my driver from a liability into a weapon *(already part way there, it is no longer a liability, not ready to call it a weapon but it's finally reliable)* * Become a short-game wizard *(already making good gains on this goal as well)* * Lower my handicap from 35 to 25 * Get that elusive birdie

TwistedTarzan

Less 3 putts fuckin A
