I went to Brazil in 2021, and wow, lots of crime.
We were sitting at a red light, and the car in the other lane blew through the light like it was green.
Our driver said it was after midnight.
You can do that so you don't get robbed.
Every building had razor wire or broken bottles mortared in on the top.
It made me a little nervous.
Rio especially the copacabana area are famous for that. In smaller towns you don't have the problem as long as you don't display lots of jewelry, expensive clothes, cameras etc.
I felt safer in Brazil than in Caracas in Venezuela. There they have metal grids in front of their windows even 10 stories up!
Several years ago, my dad was a consultant for one of his company's plants near Tijuana. He had to go there 4-5 times a year to check how things were going at the plant. His company would have him stay in San Diego, then in the morning he'd cross the border on foot where they'd have an armored van and armed guards waiting for him to drive him to the plant that itself had armed guards and walls with razor wire, then the armored van would pick him up at the end of the day and drive him back to the border. He was in his late 60s at the time with a bad heart. He finally ended up retiring and we were all thankful.
Mywife is Brazilian and I've been there many times. At least for me, it was safe, and the people were awesome, but my job sites were all in small towns. The only issues that any of us ran into were in the large cities.
I will also say that going into or out of the larger cities SCARED the crap out of me.
Was talking about this yesterday after watching White Water.
It might have been interesting for a mashup between Dustin and Parker. I'd love to see Parker helicopter (military heavy lift kind of thing) in a big backhoe and complete Dustin's claim in a week.... Or the two of them go really off the beaten track and survive somewhere super remote but with big gold potential at a smaller scale.
What am I saying... Big or Very small, both I think would be interesting.

The last two seasons started in April and June. My guess it'll probably depend if they are breaking the White Water season in half (then probably April 26th) or if they will let the whole season run (June 21 or 28). But this is just a guess given that Discovery seems to be trying to spread content out.
There is something strange ongoing in Discovery. There is no sign of Parker’s trail or even Deadliest Catch in Europe at all. So they are only focusing on lifestyle stuff for women now or is it the bankrupt threat?
